Tale of the Maps

Over at HillBuzz are some very interesting Electoral College maps. These maps show that in a matchup between Senator Clinton and Senator McCain, Hillary comes out the winner, with, notably, Ohio, West Virginia, Arkansas and Florida in her column, and with Vermont as a toss-up. Obama loses all these states in a match-up with McCain.

Toss-ups under McCain/Clinton include Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri, New Mexico, Michigan and Vermont, with Minnesota the only one going to Obama if he is the nominee.

hillarymccain

Toss-ups under McCain/Obama include North Dakota, Nebraska, Colorado, New Mexico, Michigan, Ohio and Virginia, with Ohio breaking for Clinton if she is the nominee.
mccainbambi

Basically, Hillary still beats McCain and Obama still loses to McCain. She is still the stronger GE candidate in the fall.

Special thanks to Pagan Power for the maps!

  • Hillaryfighter

I’m just a bitter Asian American!!! But I’ll do everything in my power to crush that Un-American terrorist sympathizer, waffler in Nov.

I do not clinch to any bible or gun. LOL!!!

  • Just Saying

This far out, Kerry was beating Bush in these same state maps. That was a pretty sweet victory, huh?

And surely by now you’ve seen the email Hillary sent to supporters announcing her intent to support Obama. http://www.mydd.com/story/2008/6/5/35535/42217

    It’s over.

    • Obama_is_Weak

Exactly: even Kerry was above Bush. Imagine how much lower Bamabi has still to Fall.

    • Donkey Brazziere

Hillary can choose to support whoever she wants.

      So can I.

    • drkate

yes, and kerry blew it by not defending himself against the swift boat attacks, which came out after the convention. this is what will happen to that racist obama and his nasty wife. Stay tuned, but bring your own popcorn.

It is not over for HRC, but it is over for OBambi. She gets to suspend her campaign, keep her delegates, and wait until the convention. IN the meantime she’ll be gone all summer, letting obambi campaign for himself, and letting the chips fall on his shoulders. He is a wounded candidate that will not win.

      • jwrjr

The difference being that the repubs will not have to lie when they attack Obama. There is plenty of truth to attack him with.

      • Kickass Old Lady

The reason Kerry did not stand up to those attacks was because they were true. I was a lifelong democrat till now, but I am married to a Nam vet who served just below the DMZ at Cua Viet(the farthest north river below the DMZ). He spent two tours there, in a camp taking almost daily artillary fire. He was in three major battles during the tet year of 68, where are marines were outnumbered by the NVA by as much as 10 to 1. He was seriously injured twice, but didn’t get his second purple heart, because when they returned to the rear, the hooch(dormtory)next door had been vaporized with the gunny(recordkeeper inside. Our men prevailed. They won that war, but John Kerry, home after just three months of service because he had three purple hearts for scratches(one of them was refused by his superior, but Kerry applied for it himself after his officer was transfered)was testifying that these brave men still in Nam were baby killers and rapists. John Kerry also went to France and met with the enemy for talks while he was still in the service(treason? Or just the same kind of inflated ego that had Pelosi in Syria?) John Kerry refused to release his DD214, the official form that summerized his military record. Most vets are proud to do so. I have heard that it is because He was originally dishonorably discharged, and that Jimmy Carter changed it to a general discharge. Can that be proven? No, he refused to to release his milarity record. I believe that some of Kerry’s speeches and testemy were played over the loudspeakers at the Hanoi Hilton. Someone should ask John McCain about that. I hope that anyone who reads this will understand swiftboating a little better. Thanks. Oh, by the way my husband is an independant. He voted for Clinton twice, and Reagan twice. I am an independent, now, too, and will have no problem voting for John McCain.

  • Mark

What’s the date on those maps?

    • oy

Those maps are a few weeks old. The most recent map shows Obama beating McCain, gaining CO, WI, and NM. Clinton wins bigger, but both Dems win. See here:

      http://www.politico.com/blogs/bensmith/0508/Roves_maps_Obama_gains_Clintons_still_stronger.html

Not trying to be insulting. In fact, I agree that HRC is probably a much stronger GE candidate. Still, the most recent maps show that BO is still favored at this point in the race.

      • jadwiga

BO should be leading McCain by a large margin. The republican attacks didn’t even start.

If only the half is true what I read and hear about BO, he will be obliterated in the first round.

On the other hand what current dirt could be discovered about Hillary Clinton or McCain? They are as clean as a politician can be.

  • It’s Not Me

But, unfortunately, she’s not THE CHOSEN ONE. This pisses me off so much. I cannot express how much I detest BO, the DC elites and the DNC for doing this to Hillary and Bill.

I hope the Democratic Party pays DEARLY in November if THE CHOSEN ONE makes it that far before the GOP annihilates him.

    • Minnow

The DNC does need to pay dearly – not just with electoral losses, but literally in terms of finance. I hope that the righteous anger felt by a big proportion of the 18 million Hillary voters will not be squandered. Obviously, most of them aren’t as passionate as a lot of us, but it is up to us to make sure that we encourage our friends and families to take a stand – not just in November, but now. We need to make sure that they suffer a severe financial penalty. No more contributions to the DNC or any candidates who went against the majority votes in their state to support Obummer. We can hurt them before November.

      • Shainzona

Good time to remind everyone: Every DNC OR D ANYTHING you receive in the mail, send back empty with some choice remarks inside – IN the DNC pre-paid envelope. A lot of us have been doing this for months – funny thing is, when you send one back (even empty!) you get another one a week later.

I have taken to sending every request from any Democratic organization back with NObama written all over the outside of the envelope. In fact, I just got one from Al Gore…and he’s getting the same message.

It’s payback time – (with not one thin dime!!)

  • Arabella Trefoil

It’s not over. Hillary is NOT conceding.

Between now and August, Obama is going to vetted by the media like he’s never been vetted before. He may be too tired to go to Denver.

  • http://www.hillaryclinton.com **== President & Commander-in-Chief Hillary Clinton **==

And surely by now you’ve seen the email Hillary sent to supporters announcing her intent to support Obama.

She has to “support” him. Its not an endorsement and Hillary is only suspending her campaign. She retains her delegates and when you and Obama implode before the convention Hillary will save the party and us from you and Obama.

    This is far from over.

August 25 is a long way off.

    • hillarysmygirl

I agree with you and Arabella, it’s not over, she is not conceding, she is suspending her campaign. She keeps her delegates but makes appearances until August supporting *wink* Obama. Even Ed Rendell said that she will have to choose her “appearances” carefully so as to not upstage Obama. She’ll still be out there, still showing her shining face. My husband gave up this morning, saying that the Super delegates were stupid in giving the nomination to yet another loser for the Democrats. I think he can’t stand the suspense, so I’m letting him do what he needs to do…but I won’t give up until August 28.

  • Max

I will never vote for Obama for President, even if Hillary is the VP, NEVER, NEVER. McCain will win big, even in Califorina. Only way Hussein wins is by voter fraud, Marxist thug tactics…like what he did to Hillary.

  • It’s Not Me

Support does not = ENDORSEMENT. Why is that so fucking hard for you brainless wonders to understand?

  • Mel

Rather have the map be covered in Republican red than covered in communist red if barfy were to somehow win!

  • ThereisnoHillary

I predict that Hillary will win zero electoral votes in November and that Obama will win considerably more than that. THERE IS NO HILLARY…

    • It’s Not Me

Stayed tuned cultist. Hillary used kid gloves on baby BO, the GOP won’t be as kind. You can take that to the bank.

      • ThereisnoHillary

The GOP sucks. They are addicted to punk ass petty attacks just like No Quarter. NOT THIS TIME, mofo. Obama also used kid gloves on Hillary so as not to offend dead enders like you.

McCain won’t be so lucky. He’ll be as doe-eyed as a cornered Lieberman. Why don’t you go contribute some money to McCain. He’ll need it.

        • Mel

What is the conversion of Palestine currency that you donate to Barfy work out to these days?

          • ThereisnoHillary

Barfy? That doesn’t even make f@%king sense? WTF? You dead-enders need to work on your insults.

Why don’t you go look for that “whitey” tape loser. Oh, here it is, I just pulled it out of my ass. Give me your address. I’ll mail it to you. I’ll even wash it off for ten bucks.

        • WestPalm4Hillary

          Hey dipsh*t…..Lieberman won.

          • ThereisnoHillary

Lieberman won the last elected office he will ever disgrace with his presence two years ago. He has won the mantle of THE pariah of the Democratic caucus. He won the right to get his ass handed to him by Barack Obama on the Senate floor. You lose, dead-ender.

        • blueasthesky

Lieberman, by the way, WON his election after the Democrats rejected him.

          • ThereisnoHillary

Yes he sure did and he’ll never win another one. I’m talking about Obama handing Lieberman his ass yesterday at the AIPAC summit. Get with it dude.

            • alexei

No asshole, Obama will be in jail or singing like a canary and Lieberman will be in McCain’s cabinet if the Democrats are stupid enough and lemming like to continue their farcical nomination of Obama.

All you Palestinian Obama followers – he just threw you under the bus while pandering big time to AIPAC to get the Jewish vote.

              • ThereisnoHillary

Alexei! Commie! Hillary threw you commies under the bus when she supported Goldwater in ’64. Eat it dead-ender.

        • It’s Not Me

G-d you’re stupid. BO will have his ass handed to him. You won’t even see it coming and then it will be over. BO will NEVER win this election and you’re too fucking STUPID to know that. Drink some more Kool-Aid.

He has 2 demographic voting groups left who will vote for him like the good little sheeple they are…the so-called “creative class” and the AAs. THAT-IS-IT! He’s alienated every other group within the Democratic Party. Just who the fuck do you think will vote for him? Here’s a clue…..NO ONE EXCEPT THOSE 2 GROUPS.

          Now, eat shit.

          • ThereisnoHillary

Go find the “whitey” tape! Fetch boy fetch! I think a good place to start will be inside Larry Johnson’s anus.

        • drkate

just like Obambi. You think this is clean? Obambi bought his votes.

And you are delusional. Go back to the koolaid.

          • ThereisnoHillary

You are incomprehensible. Go back to third grade and learn how to communicate in comprehensible thoughts.

        • Margaret

I am going to donate to McCain, but not until/unless Hillary concedes.

          • ThereisnoHillary

Oh she’ll concede. THERE IS NO HILLARY, DEAD-ENDER. Get that wallet ready. Forced pregnancies! Endless war! Woohoo!

        • done4

“cornered” Lieberman is the only Orthodox Jew in congress. Action speak larger than words for Jews, justifiably so. All it took was that one bullying action. Obama will pay for it by losing the Jewish vote and support.

  • JDW

You can’t save people…or a party from themselves.
Obama had a great strategy for winning the primary too badit will lose him in the general. All of the vicious attacks and demonization of Hillary and her supporters as evil means Obama has to campaign hard on 2 fronts. First he must convince enough Republicans and independents to vote for him. Secondly and what will be fatal is there are so many hard core Democrats who are furious with him right now. As upset as the Deaniacs were with Dean’s defeat, there was no where near the animosity and fury that Obama now has to face. Many of these Hillary supporters are easy pickings for McCain and Obama now has to win over twice as many people as McCain. the GOP is much more unified.

  • Just Saying

    This is far from over.

August 25 is a long way off.

This is so true. Also, we’re turning the corner in Iraq.

The DNC had access to this information, as well. They are just some kind of stupid.

    • It’s Not Me

MAJOR STUPID! They’ve destroyed the party by tossing out the strongest candidate.

  • dms

Maybe this will put to rest the tape issue.

ABC 7′s Karen Jordan and Cheryl Burton emceed the 2004 Rainbow-Push Women’s Luncheon.  Other employees of ABC 7 attended along with hundreds of Chicago area civic, professional and media representatives. No one recalls Michelle Obama speaking at this luncheon and our archived video does not show Michelle Obama.

    • AJSHOPE

Her name is on the program as one of the speakers idiot. Of course she is going to defend Obama, she wants him to win.

  • Terence

Time to look at Obama’s electoral maps, now that he’s won the nomination. What’s the point in looking at Hillary’s?

have you seen obama’s momentum? Clinton never really expanded beyond her core of support, since October. Obama more than doubled (22% to over 50%). Obama’s campaign is getting better and better, and it’s ridiculous to think that whoever polls best *now* is the best choice for the fall. He has a huge amount of momentum, and hillary has none.

for reference: http://www.slate.com/id/2192952/ (links to WSJ charts)

    • jwrjr

“… now that he’s won the nomination.” Did they hold the convention while we weren’t looking. There is no nomination until the convention.

    • abfabdem

Momentum, you mean like all those primaries he won at the end? By margins of 2:1? Oh right, he didn’t. Has there ever been a nominee to finish out the primary season so weakly? I think it is truly unprecendented.

  • candymarl

I don’t think Obama supporters get it yet. If you keep insulting people that’s not the way to get them to vote for your candidate.

Heck, even if you say you’ll vote for Obama it’s not good enough. You supported Hillary at some point you evil person you.

    It’s not just sour grapes.

You can’t talk unity in one breath and denigrate people in the next breath.

    Keep digging.

  • http://deleted AnninCa

The DNC strategy depended upon her supporters coming back to the fold.

One problem. They trashed the Clintons. They are still trashing the Clintons.

So her supporters, naturally a lot of Clinton Democrats, are not going to come back to the fold.

He’ll get a bump or should in the next week in the polls.

    And then watch him tank.

    • Terence

Wow, it’s almost like clinton supporter’s are completely oblivious to the way Clintons engage in politics.

You should really, really look up the history of Clinton politics. It’s hilarious that everyone is acting like she’s the “victim”

      • Mel

And you know the history of Barfy politics?

When you do, then talk, until then crawl back into your bunker in Palestine before another bomb goes off so you can troll another day!

        • Terence

What an empty response. Obviously you *aren’t* familiar with the Clinton brand of politics.

          • Mel

Empty, you never answered troll, so answer the question, ah well you can’t can you, you just prefer communist candidates of the deepest degree!

We don’t so enjoy your bunker Palistinian boy!

            • Terence

              Hahahaha *What*?! Jeez you’re nuts…

To answer your question, “Yes I do”.

              Is that better, sweetie?

          • drkate

At least the Clintons love America. Not like Obambi and his hateful wife who blame america first. Obambi’s tactics are far worse than anything you can imagine.

      • http://deleted AnninCa

You either were raised by Clinton Hating Republicans or you were one yourself.

      • RedStateTurnedBlueForHillary

McCain has big edge with women in this poll.

      http://tinyurl.com/3owtwc

  • Mel

One democrat voting for McCain requires Barfy to find 2 new voters.

Thus far with Democrats for McCain, defection registered is 3/4 of a million, thus Barfy needs to find 1.5 million new voters!

As the days go on, defection is estimated to be a minimum of 3 million by end of June, requiring Barfy to find 6 million new voters!

As I said before, rather a map in Republican red than Communist red!

    • Shainzona

I know – and I LOVE IT. In our house he already has to make up 6 votes!

  • Shainzona

OMG! In November 2007, who would have EVER thought that any Republican might actually win POTUS in November, 2008.

What in the hell has happened?

    Oh, I forgot for a moment…Barack Obama.

    Sigh.

  • It’s Not Me

G-d you people are drunk on the Kool-Aid. Fucking brainless wonder.

  • alee21

She is suspending her campaign, retaining her delegates. So between now and August, there is no nominee, only the presumptive nominee.
Hillary is walking a fine line now, but in the end, she will prevail.

    • http://deleted AnninCa

alee…she’ll sing his praises between now and August.

People who are acting as though she hadn’t thought this out just, once again, are underestimating Hillary.

Of course, she knew exactly what she was doing. She insisted on being allowed to finish the primary and, in doing so, accumulated the popular vote win. They cannot take it away now.

      She is now positioned.

Now, she’ll sing the unity song. When we fail to come back to the fold, his numbers start to fade away, and the shit hits the fan? She’s positioned to step right up.

If the shit is really, really bad, he may even have to step down.

We’ll see, but Plan C is in play.

  • Shainzona

Actually, this time around the Repugs don’t have to swiftboat…they have so much wonderful, truthful ammunition to use this will be the first honest campaign in years.

Have you see the RNC ads so far…no lies. Just fact. And devastating to Obama/The Dems.

  • jyotinc

    I love you guys!
18 million will defect if Hillary is not the nominee.
    Democratic Party should be punished.

  • mars

Er, am I reading correctly that these charts are from Karl Rove??!!

  • http://deleted AnninCa

The ads speak to me, anyway. LOL* I agree. Just tell the truth of the matter.

They can play this campaign straight.

  • GoMcCain

    Hey Larry -

I just heard the RNC has a video of Obama secretly meeting with Lex Luthor and Dr. Evil.

Can you get us a copy?

  • markg8

    Dear XXX,

I wanted you to be one of the first to know: on Saturday, I will hold an event in Washington D.C. to thank everyone who has supported my campaign. Over the course of the last 16 months, I have been privileged and touched to witness the incredible dedication and sacrifice of so many people working for our campaign. Every minute you put into helping us win, every dollar you gave to keep up the fight meant more to me than I can ever possibly tell you.

On Saturday, I will extend my congratulations to Senator Obama and my support for his candidacy. This has been a long and hard-fought campaign, but as I have always said, my differences with Senator Obama are small compared to the differences we have with Senator McCain and the Republicans.

I have said throughout the campaign that I would strongly support Senator Obama if he were the Democratic Party’s nominee, and I intend to deliver on that promise.

When I decided to run for president, I knew exactly why I was getting into this race: to work hard every day for the millions of Americans who need a voice in the White House.

I made you — and everyone who supported me — a promise: to stand up for our shared values and to never back down. I’m going to keep that promise today, tomorrow, and for the rest of my life.

I will be speaking on Saturday about how together we can rally the party behind Senator Obama. The stakes are too high and the task before us too important to do otherwise.

I know as I continue my lifelong work for a stronger America and a better world, I will turn to you for the support, the strength, and the commitment that you have shown me in the past 16 months. And I will always keep faith with the issues and causes that are important to you.

In the past few days, you have shown that support once again with hundreds of thousands of messages to the campaign, and again, I am touched by your thoughtfulness and kindness.

I can never possibly express my gratitude, so let me say simply, thank you.

    Sincerely,

    Hillary Rodham Clinton

You can join Senator Clinton in supporting the Dem party nominee or prove you have more hate for Obama than common sense.

  • Terence

Or, I see people for what and who they are, based on their actions and track record. Which, I might note, means that I don’t write off Hillary. But you can’t ignore the History of the Clinton machine… which is what I think people are doing when they claim Hillary is the “victim” of anything.

The point is, Obama ran a better race because, well, he won the nomination and support of his party. As the Slate article above mentions, it’s not that Hillary lost, it’s that Barack won.

    • Elle

Just like when Alice Palmer lost, Barack won?
Yes, we know how he did that, too.

      • abfabdem

He is really good at taking names off ballots. Just ask Ms. Palmer.

  • alexei

I would go further. Any candidate that supported Obama because they are in fact supporting vote theft and voter disenfranchisement, should not get any money, work or votes.

  • Obama_is_Weak

Poor Bambi he even needs Hillary support; poor boy….LOL

  • along

Vermont? You guys need some sleep.

  • Larry’s Bad Hair Day

  • Marnie

There is an Operation Chaos going on. Sow dissension and discord among Democrats. So these charts could be by Karl Rove.

However, even though I am fully aware they are doing that, it still doesn’t make me support Obama. Obama was not vetted by the Democratic politicians who supported him early on or they would have uncovered Rezko, Wright, Ayers, etc. (I discovered them and more in just three days of research before I voted in the CA primary.)

They choose a week reed to hang their hopes on.

Besides, I am personally offended by all the photographs where Obama has halos (there have been quite a few) or lights shining behind him (which amounts to the same thing), or angles where he appears to be descending from heaven or from above.

Visual propaganda like that that perverts religion is offensive.

  • oy

Lights shining behind him like this:

you’re the real troll here – all you do is flame people without any actual substance. 2 suggestions:

    1) Read up about communism, and understand it. Then you’ll realize how ridiculous you sound.

    2) Stop calling everyone Palestinian. It’s childish, ludicrous, and lends you no credibility whatsoever.

  • ThereisnoHillary

Let it out. That’s good alexei. Let it out. You commie dead-ender. Now get off this blog and go help Larry find that “whitey” tape! Do it! Now!!! Hillary’s candidacy can still be saved!!! You lose dead-ender.

  • Judy

Unbelievable that the DNC has not asked why voters hate Obama so much??? Maybe, it is his issues – Wright, Ayers, Rezko, Michelle, Farrakan, etc. Of course, they blame Hillary. DNC and superdelegates you are not getting it. It is not about Hillary – WE DON’T LIKE BARACK OBAMA AND WILL NOT VOTE FOR THE MAN and his history of corrupt Chicago politics, anti-American, hate monger associates.

    Wake up DNC

  • Kirsten

Looks like it’s “Monthly Avg. of Public Polls as of 5/16/08. Source: Karl Rove & Co.

Andrew Tanenbaum at electoral-vote.com has 244-202 Obama as of today, only counting states with a 5% or greater difference. You can find his exact algorithm there.

In other words: this isn’t news, and it’s no longer accurate. There are cases to be made for Clinton over Obama, but this isn’t one of them.

    • Terence

Wow, so now someone is posting as me? Ridiculous… the real “me” didn’t say “Two can play that game stupid!”

  • Mel

First off, to be a troll is to come into a place with unwelcomed bullshit that is generated by a pathetic leader, ie Obama and Axelrod!

Second, read up on Obama and find out the truth about him and his communist tiesAhole!

Third, just as Obama has classified Clinton supporters as blue collar middle class gun totin bible thumpin bitter people, we consider Obama supporters as Palestinians, since true americans do not support communists and Palestinians support Obama, thus is based upon using Obama’s words of segrigating people into classifications!

Incoming, dive for you bomb shelter!…..lol

  • paul_lukasiak

Maybe this will put to rest the tape issue.

maybe if you would provide a link it would help.

The problem is simple, Michelle Obama was on the agenda for the luncheon. If the station has the tape (as your statement suggests) they should just release it — because not only will it disprove this particular rumor, but it should provide an explanation why MO didn’t show up.

    • Mel

it wasn’t a luncheon, it was a conference, thus his credibility is as deep as Obama’s, so ignore it!

  • Terence

    287-227, For obama… :)

What was that about needing 270?

  • Terence

Two can play that game stupid!

  • Peggy Sue

I don’t get it. If Obama’s supporters are so thrilled with his win, so convinced of his path to the White House, why do they see fit to insult any and all dissent?

We’ve already been told our votes don’t count, so why the barrage of obscene, adolescent provocations?

Take your bully sticks home. One way or the other, we’ll keep our votes and take them elsewhere.

  • Terence

I am here because we need all the Hillary supporters we can get because our Idol cannot win based upon us ignorant college kids, Palestinians who don’t have a vote, prisoners who can’t vote and dead people who cannot be used to vote in a GE under the watchful eyes of the GOP oversee’rs at actual voting precincts!

We thought the GE was all about caucuses that we can railroad and overtake, we never thought any further down the road, so please we beg of you to vote for Bambi, he is such a great speaker!

    • Terence

      Classy – real classy.

      • Terence (the real one)

This is the real one by the way – apparently someone, most likely Mel due to the palestinian rhetoric, can’t handle a real debate and reverts to childish posing to… well… I’m not really sure what she’s trying to accomplish.

  • Susan1968

The GOP is now vetting BO, something democrats should have done for themselves. If they could launch this so quickly, they have anti-Obama pieces waiting in queue:

Less than two hours since a jury found Barack Obama’s former neighbor Antoin “Tony” Rezko guilty of influence peddling, the GOP has released a new Web-only video, “Obama’s Money Man.”

    Video here:

It is all like between AirAmerica and now NovaM! I mean Obama is worse than Bu$h, and Billary better than McCain. Yet the Dems rather love to overlook impeachment in order to “be somebody” again on TV, since media ratings select the President as they love to call (to them) boring races as over!

If you vote for the lesser evil McCain you are still a real Dem! Obama is a media hype and has no grassroots business at all, other than putting KKK over CIA issues in his childish mind. He is not even in the great line of a Kennedy nor of Dr. Martin.

He got no defense and McCain needs no offense to deal with him! He is a ppl pleaser, and that is what the nutty left so loves, now they can spin somebody after Bu$h. Spare me here any comments in form of a reply. Click on my url (http://www.myspace.com/theimouse), that is where you will reach me, I use this blog of Larry Johnson to stay sane in all of this, but felt to only sort of comment here once with it all ;)

If the people at noquarter or hillbuzz would bother to do one single iota of research, or even bother to read the name in the top right corner of these maps, they would see that not only are they almost a month old, they are also a product of Karl Rove & Co. They provide no margin of error, nor do they cite the number of people in the survey. Do you really believe that Karl Rove of all people has the best interests of the Democratic party at heart here?

    • abfabdem

Then how about a Gallop poll shown in the Sun Times yesterday that had Obama up by 6 over McCain, but Hillary over McCain by 30. This on the day the cover was about Obama claiming the nomination! Talk about big ‘mo!! Not!!

  • Clinton Fan

All those cranky old people in PA and MA aren’t feeling the Obama love. He’s going to have to SPEND MONEY(and it won’t be MY money, so pony up your pot and pizza cash, kids) to even hope to HANG ON to those states.

I think that map is optimistic. About the only thing that might change it is a really good VP, but I suspect he’ll pick some bland fucker who doesn’t outshine His Majesty.

  • claribel borden

If Clinton were to appear on a ticket with Obama, I would not vote for him.

    It’s Clinton, or nothing.

  • drkate

natural “bounce” from his claiming the nomination. But Obamas numbers and support has been plummeting since February. That’s why he wanted clinton out, to hide this fact.

54% of Americans view Obama unfavorably. That will go up. He is an arrogant prick who will do anything to win. But this time his bullying will not work.

    Hillary or McCain, 08!

    • abfabdem

When will his supporters finally stop bashing Hillary? If she was the nominee I would not be giving Obama one other thought–I would be celebrating, not trashing people on blogs that support the other candidate. It’s perverse.

  • WestPalm4Hillary

I read somewhere recently that political parties usually unite when everyone agrees that the ultimate victor won fairly.

This is not the case with the Democrats vis-a-vis Hillary vs. Barack. One the popular vote leader in a flawed system of nomination. The “rules,” yes, but not exactly a winning set of “rules” with a track record of nominating Presidents who WIN. It’s very much the same as Bush in 2000. Democrats thought he cheated/gamed the system, and Bush was approval rating tanked until 9/11.

Unless McCain is found in a motel room doing blow off the backside of an underage third world hooker while burning the American flag…. I don’t see McCain turning off many Hillary supporters filled with righteous anger.

The “YOU NEVER GONNA GET AN ABORTION AND YOU GONNA DIE IN IRAQ” memes won’t work either. Last I checked, the President (contrary to Obama’s beliefs, such as that he’s going to stop the seas from rising), has only so much power. We DO remember that there are THREE branches of the federal government, right? We DO remember that CONGRESS sets the budget and approves tax cuts, right?

    Just checkin.

  • drkate

doesn’t make it not true, you idiot. Rove doesn’t have to play games–he’s got what he needs just with obama. They can tell the truth about him and can’t be accused of dirty tactics–its obama’s own words! Obambi and MEchelle: the gift that will keep on giving to republicans.

    • imanon

I assume this is in response to my post? First of all, name-calling does nothing to bolster your argument, and distracts from any point you may be trying to make. I am perfectly willing to discuss this map rationally, but it has to be a two-way street.

Anyhow, as I stated before, even the most recent of these numbers are almost a month old, including numbers from states that have not been polled since their primaries closed months ago. Therefore, despite your assertions that this “doesn’t make it not true”, the numbers are exactly that. Not true depictions of the actual state of the race.

As to your other point, what, exactly, are “Obama’s own words”, and how do they relate to Rove publishing an out-dated electoral map in an obvious attempt to subvert Democratic unity?

  • Karen

Looks like now that Howard Dean has manipulated the
DNC for Obama to win the primary for him…..Obama doesn’t trust to oversee the rest.

WASHINGTON – Barack Obama is keeping Howard Dean as the chairman of the Democratic National Committee, while bringing in one of his top strategists to oversee the party’s operations.

Obama made changes at the party headquarters his first order of business as the presumed presidential nominee. Campaign adviser Paul Tewes was dispatched to help lead the changes Thursday, with Dean still as the chairman.

Obama spokesman Bill Burton said Obama appreciates Dean’s hard work to grow the party

Please take a look at Johnny Gunn’s map! In regard to this article:
The Realignment We’ve Been Waiting For

MAP and Gunn’s projections and rebuttals to Obama whiners.

    Re: Twelve States (2.00 / 3)

“In 1992 and 1996, Bill Clinton won 11 of these twelve states.
In 2000 and 2004, Gore and Kerry each won only one.

If there is a realignment –
it seems probable that it would begin with these states.
Who is likely to win more of them?

    • Nadabama

Gunn’s map shows why no one but Hillary Clinton could equal what Bill Clinton did.

Shows the fallacy of thinking Obama could.

Hillary won the needed swing states in the primary.

      Obama nada!

  • Mary

    I’m voting McCain, too.

Polls are showing 30-35% of Democratic voters have indicated same.

Obama will lose in a huge landslide.

And then hopefully, Donna Brazille will resign.

    • imanon

I would love to know where exactly you are getting your numbers from.

  • Nadabama

All Ol’ John Sydney McCain has to do is still be breathing come November to get my vote!

  • Hope Floats

If McCain picks Gov. Tim Pawlenty as his VP, he keeps Minnesota and nails down the Great Lakes states except for Illinois. I think he can keep Virginia and Colorado red and put New Mexico and California into play if he presses on with a libertarian message. He should attack Obama and Richardson in New Mexico on how both like to rule from a bully pulpit even if this is just subtly enforced since (Obama has no executive branch experience.) He should address immigration, economics and taxes. I also think Lieberman can help McCain flip Connecticut. McCain could probably win New Jersey, too.

  • swami

I read this blog everyday, and appreciate everyone and their comments. It will be hard to “hold the nose” and vote for Obama – but a vote for McSame and a possible win for him will destroy the Supreme Court and along with it any of the “perceived” freedoms we still have left.

At least if Obama were to win, I would hope his next two appointments to the SCOTUS would not have the right wing “tag” of contitutional constructionists or whatever bull*hit the facist tag it as…but at least will attempt to protect our constitutional rights.

Go Hillary – if she suspends and his campaign crashes as everyone is predicting – she can pick up the pieces.

    • NoBama

All the nonsense and fear mongering about the Supreme Court is the Obama scary tactic to women. Obama has no respect for our intelligence and he thinks we vote only on issues like Roe Vs. Wade.

The Supreme court decision will never be reversed–Brown vs. Board of Education was never reversed and it had strong opposition too.
The conservatives would rather have the decision as it is, so they have something to cry about.

Reagan the great conservative put liberal or moderate judges on the court and McCain will do the same.

  • jadwiga

Hillary will work her heart out to support BO. She doesn’t have a choice and beside that she is too dutiful to do otherwise.
I hope she doesn’t want to be VP to go down with BO in flames.
There is always 2012 to wait for.
The republicans will hold back until it is to late to fire BO and give the nomination to Hillary.

Hey DNC I’m done with you. Get it?
I am on a 2 for 1 campaign. Vote Mac and Obamai needs 2…now that’s what I’m talking about!

A local Democratic Club in Hicksville was for Hillary, I’ll let you know how many of these bluecollar hardworking Dems are also turning their backs on Oblahblah.

Anyone of Koolaid drinkers what to make any bets? Must predict in percentages: and if that’s too difficult– I understand.

  • NoBama

First of all Vermont is not a toss-up. It’s N. Hampshire.
Obama is expected to get a bump after HIllary drops out. That bump has to be around 7-10%. If its lower, that spells trouble for him. I think the Democrats should be ahead by strong double digits. This is a Democratic year after 7 yrs. of Bush.
The fact the Dems are only going to be ahead by 10% is not a good sign. The undecideds will determine this race and similar to Hillary picking up 65% of the undecideds at the last hour, is what will happen to Obama.
I have been watching the undecided % and it is always higher with Obama/McCain and less with Clinton/McCain. There is soft support on both sides and the undecideds will not be convinced in my view to go with Obama. Obama will be perceived as a great risk to take and the last minute voter will go with old reliable-McCain.

    • raquelf

the problem is… the more you know about BO, the scarier. Time will tell. Le us just say BO is worse than McCain. Hillary/McCain 2008!

Larry Johnson was trashing Rove for year. Now, he’s singing his praise. Most Larry supporter do not have intelligence to insult in the first place, they are mainly sheep who follow him believing Clinton is the anointed female. They would follow Larry Johnson right off a cliff if he instructed them to, proof of this is them voting for McCain out of spite.

thanks for posting that map.. and that is what I always thought. I feel like I have been predicting this since the Gore vs. Bush times..

    and it is sad.

I am still pissed off at the way the DNC did things. I don’t get what is so bad having a Woman as a President?? I remember watching Kerry on TV giving his support to Obama telling why he dislikes Hillary but you could tell he wanted to scream that he didn’t want her there because she was a Woman.
England has had woman PM and a few Queens who ran the country.

She was cheated (Hillary) we all know that.

  • Mr. X

Those maps are out of date. Obama will never carry Nebraska or Virginia. Vermont is actually New Hampshire for Hillary. Hillary is competitive in Colorado & Kentucky and is winning in Nevada.
Here is one I did last week. I looked at the polls and nothing much has changed.

Obama is still losing and Hillary is winning by a wide margin.

Their money and influence have been evident throughout this primary and having got this far, they probably think they can make it all the way to the WH. They think they can subvert the will of the people. MI and FL were just a taste of things to come I think.

      Go Hillary!
