A Different Kind Of Happy Hour **Open Thread**

There’s been a whole lot in the news of late about the “Happy Hour Heard ‘Round The World.” You know the one – Sgt. Crowley, Prof. Henry Gates, President Obama, and the party-crashed Joe Biden, sitting down like some regular Joes, just having a brew. Oh, yeah, just hanging out, tossing back a few and eating some snacks. Uh huh.

In honor of that (in)auspicious occasion, I would like to share this happy little tune with you, one I am sure you will be singing the rest of the day (H/T to NQ writer Ani for this), to celebrate a different kind of Happy Hour:


Now, don’t you just feel better about everything that as been going on for the past 7 months? Make that 17 months? I knew it would. Go have a drink of Kool Aide, and I am sure you WILL feel better in no time!

By the way, Sgt Crowley avoided the rays of Hope and Change emanating from President Obama. He said that they “agreed to disagree.” Hmmm – I wonder if he has some kind of antidote to the Kool Aide? Now THAT would be a study on which I would be willing to have my tax dollars spent, wouldn’t you??

    Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner said in an interview aired Sunday that the administration will do “what’s necessary” to revive the economy, and didn’t rule out new taxes as a means to do so.

      Well considering that Geithner’s father and Obama’s mother worked together at the Ford Foundation to revamp certain financng in Indonesia and it was a huge failure, what do you expect their kids to do, make everything work out?

    Very funny video, Rev. Amy–thanks! The song really resonates well with Sgt. Crowley’s press conference remark that any future get-together should probably feature “kool-aid or iced tea” rather than beer.

    You scare me because you prefer ‘wind mills’ to responsibly capitalizing on our own vast oil, coal and shale reserves.

    You scare me because you want to kill the American capitalist goose that lays the golden egg which provides the highest standard of living in the world

    You scare me because you have begun to use extortion tactics against certain banks and corporations.

    You scare me because your own political party shrinks from challenging you on your wild and irresponsible spending proposals.

    You scare me because you will not openly listen to or even consideropposing points of view from intelligent people.

    You scare me because you falsely believe that you are both omnipotent and omniscient.

    You scare me because the media gives you a free pass on everything you do.

    You scare me because you demonize and want to silence the Limbaughs, Hannitys, O’Relllys and Becks who offer opposing,conservative points of view.

        ANd Obama voters scare me because of there abosulute refusal to see what’s infront of them, even more so than the groups that supported Bush. So i guess we all have to live with what we fear. I have never in my life seen a people so hell bent on destroying themselves for no good reason, even if it means ignoring the obvious.

          The scariest thing I heard after the election was this. I was talking to a friend on the phone right after the election, didn’t realize their teenage child was listening.

          I told a friend congrads on Obama winning. I said it would have been so much nicer and comfortable for me, if there had not been all the hoopla about the voter fraud.

          Their words were ….So what if Obama cheated and stole the election, Bush did.

          Sorry but what was that saying to the child. That its okaye to cheat and lie? I have found out since that there were quite a few Obama supporters that felt that way.

            ….reminiscent of similar comments after OJ was found not guilty in 1995: “So what if an AA man killed someone and was found not guilty! White people who have killed AA’s have been found not guilty for centuries.” In their minds, justice was served and the score evened to a degree.

            In the case of the 2008 election, the far left felt exactly that way – the 2000 election was stolen by the Bush people. Therefore, whatever it took to win in 2008, the democrats were prepared to do it. I would not have agreed with that even if Hillary had been the “chosen” one by the dem leadership.

            BTW, be sure to go to cnn.com and VOTE on the Obama Report Card. That’s vital! They are having the results in a special on Thursday this week. Go now!

              I went to cnn.com to vote just now and they don’t have that poll up anymore. Now there’s a “can you haggle for prices?” poll. You posted at 2:11 a.m., I’m posting at 2:58 a.m. I don’t know how long CNN had it up as a poll but its gone now. It would be informative to know when the ‘Obama Report Card Poll’ went up on their site . . . anyone?

    The thing I have to dispute though, is that our grandchildren, our children were picking up the tab long before Obama became president. It was under Bush and Cheney that the deficit exploded. It was under Bush and Cheney that we invaded a country in an expensive war of choice, with not only all the expenses associated with war, but huge amounts of money unaccounted for and infamous no-bid contracts. It was under Bush that Americans were told not to save, but to get out the credit card and go shopping; Americans were not told not to sacrifice. It was under Bush and Cheney that the economy burst, under them that corporate abuses flourished — Enron, Tyco, AIG, Goldman-Sachs, Lehman Brothers, Merrill-Lynch, Countrywide, Fanny and Freddy, Madoff and a hundred more, causing catastrophic failures requiring bailouts. It was under Bush that businesses outsourced jobs and corporations took Caribbean shelter. Our children and grandchildren will pay dearly for Bush’s misadventure and piss-poor stewardship.

    That is not to say that Obama is not contributing to the mess. Obama most certainly is making things worse. You guys all know I am not apologizing for Obama.

    Bush was a lousy president, so bad, that Obama was elected. If Bush had been a good president, McCain or Hillary might be leading us out of this disaster.

    I blame Bush for Obama.

      Oh, no doubt, CG. I agree that had we not had Bush, we wouldn’t have Obama. I don’t know that the DNC wouldn’t have still hand picked him, but yeah – we had already amassed a lot of debt.

      Still, Obama has done more than his fair share to increase our debt.

      Glad y’all liked the video – I laughed and laughed when I watched it. Frankly, that’s a real gift – for these folks who are clever enough to make us laugh at the ridiculousness of the Obama worship.

      HARP – I saw that abt Geithner. Honestly, I imagine none of us here are surprised. But just like the woman who expected Obama would pay her mortgage, I daresay a lot of his followers are going to be surprised.

      But that’s what they get for wanting someone with no experience or proven track record, just because some frat boy writes nice speeches for him…Karma, baby. Too bad their karma is raining down on us, too.

        The absolutely unbelievable treatment of the people of New Orleans by Bush led to Obama’s presidency fundamentally.Other important factors were brought to bear on the outcome we are now living with but I truly believe without Bush’s fundamental inhumanity witnessed daily on our tv screens in late august and september that year Obama would not be president. Others may disagree.

    On the NRO points to Larry Johnson’s birth certificate questions thread this morning I brought up an Obama BC that was put on the internet’s and reported on by World News Daily.

    One of the questions asked by several people, including me was in regards to whether Kenya was actually the Republic of Kenya in Feb.1964.

    Thanks to poster Mel on here and a poster at another site there some proof has been found as to Kenya proper name February. Apparently Kenya’s Constitution was adopted in 1963, and Kenya was referred to as the Republic as Kenya in their Constitution.

    CHAPTER I- THE REPUBLIC OF KENYA

    Kenya is a sovereign Republic.

      The Hawaiian one was sure an easy one to photoshop.

        No way it is a photoshop. Go to WND.com and check out the photos. The document has hand-typed as evidenced by some strikeovers, etc.

        It also has the book and page number (Book 44B, Page 5733), as well as the name of the Registrar, and the signature of the Deputy Registrar who signed it. These facts should aid in getting the document authenticated.

        This just might be the real thing, and the date it was issued sure makes sense in the timeline of his mother’s divorce.

        Of course, if authenticated, this is a HUGE story! How would Obama explain this? My prediction is that he will play the victim and state that his mother told him he was born in Hawaii. But of course that doesn’t explain why he has fought so hard to keep the document hidden.

        It could be that both documents are “legit” but one was obtained by fraud. Relatives in either HI or Kenya filing false BC registrations to ensure his citizenship in that country. The fact of the matter is he always had dual citizenship- even triple citizenship if you count the “Soretoes” years- without the fraud.

        As usual, the cover-up is worst than the crime. It appears to me that Barky (and his relatives)have played fast and loose with laws when it is for their personal advantage. US citizen when financial aid is needed, foreign citizen when foreign aid is needed. And any country’s passport will work. Name changes, terminating parental rights, re-instating parental rights. Declaring religion as muslim when its advantageous- Christian when that has its advantages. His permanent record is one clusterfu@k of lies and omissions- that’s why we have never seen it.

    Looks like game, set, and match. Obama was indeed born in Kenya. Now the real question is, what happens from here? There will obviously have to be hearings to determine who was in on the charade, that is, who knew. This could get ugly. Very ugly. Maybe those in power simply don’t have the political will to do the right thing. Maybe they’d just as soon allow a civil war to start over this. I don’t know. The options going forward do not seem very good. It will make Watergate look like a stroll in the park.

      There would have been no way that that nobody in the DNC knew about this.

      If this is true I think that this could be what all Obama’s extreme left friend’s hold on him was. Didn’t Wright kind of hint that America was in for an awakening with Obama. Was this what Wright was talking about?

      It true then it probably goes very deep into the Democratic party. We pretty much know that almost every Dem has had to have heard the rumors. How many of them just shut up and how many asked, found out and then shut up.

      What is sad is I don’t think it would have been just people like maybe Peloski, or Biden. I have a feeling that even some of the Dems that we put our trust in knew or had enough knowledge to stop this if this is true.

      If this is true I am also wondering how many of these people knew but couldn’t or didn’t dare talk.(Sorry a bit of the Chicago sneaking in).

      I know it’s still a unsubstantiated rumor. But Damn the Kenya BC sure seems to look a lot more creditable than the Hawaiian one.

        I look at this document and I would not trust its’ veracity.

        My confusion is Aug 9th 1961 is being refered to as BO’s birthday?

        Second, Feb 17th 1964 is the date the Joshua Simon person certified he saw the original from Book 44b page 5733 which contains the info in the copy?

        What I wish to see is the original book.

        How does this prove anything?

        For some reason Obama was born August 4, 1961.

        So BO has two Bdays?

          If you have your own BD take a look at it.
          The Feb 17th 1964 refers to the date this copy was issued.
          As I have said in several threads, mine at the bottom says 2003 and is signed by registrar of that county in 2003. That was the year I got it so that I could get a passport.

          Stanley getting the asking for the BC copy on Feb 17th 1964 makes sense for a couple of reasons…
          1st could be when Stanley needed it for the divorce.

          2nd & … might be anything from welfare(remember Obama talks about them being on welfare) to a passport for Obama.

          You might want to go read the Birth Certificate Lying Still [Updates] thread where many questions were brought up and answered.

            Sorry to blow your points Confused, but follow the timelines closer:

            In January Dunham filed for divorce from Obama Sr. claiming mental abuse.

            January 30, 1964 Obama signed for divorce papers from US Postal Services.

            March 24, 1964 Divorce Decree finalized by Hawaian Courts.

            reading the Kenyan Consitution, women, especially forgeign women have no standing in Kenya at the time, they could only obtain things if applying in person.

            Safer bet it that the abusive Obama Sr. being served with such a divorce filing and labelling him an abusive person, that he sought and obtained the exposed Registration in February 1964, ensuring BO Jr. was a citizen of Kenya and not a British subject as Kenyans were prior to Dec 12, 1963. Plus it is another control game played by abusers.

              Hey my BC says 2003 and it was for my passport, so I was just thinking of reasons I might need my own children’s BC.

              guess I should have said could be when Stanley and/or Obama Sr needed it for the divorce.

              There could be many reasons for Obama Sr to have gotten the BC in Feb…Since he is Dead we will never know.

                A lawyer for Dunham might have Confused, but if he did, it likely would have accompanies the divorce papers and it wasn’t there.

                Obama Sr. needed it because he was abroad and on a special visa for education in america and the timing of it is more in line with his having to register for the fall sesion at Harvard and Obama Sr. needed to confirm his citizenship as a citizen of Kenya and not a British subject. Even a simple cross reference while doing it for Obama Sr. could have been the reason for BO Jr’s being done but present day applications for passports and likely then as well requires listing of all kids under the age of 16 on the passport application, which is the other possible reason for it.

                One othe note to think of, Kenya has two Consulates in the US, one in NYC and one in LA. funny how both places are where Obama went to school at Occidental and Columbia.

                Timelining is a byatch isn’t it, like why did BO Sr go to Hawaii the same summer BO Jr returned from Indonesia, possibly to bring a new passport so BO Jr could get financial aide to go to prestige schools there? It has been widely reported that BO Sr didn’t have anything to do with any of his kids, so something or someone had to be offering him something to go to Hawaii, especially since BO Sr was broke and even in 1971 travel from Kenya to Hawaii was not cheap.

                Nothing is simple, but liars cover their tracks and fakes throw up roadblocks of deception, in this case it is both, which locking up all records has exposed there is something being hidden!

      Don’t hold you r breath. AS much as i would like to see Obama ousted nothing will come of this, it’s either a fraud or the media will supress it. I hate to say it but i do believe if Obama was not a citizen the Clintons would have dug it up. McCain doesn’t have enough balls but Hillary is one competent, determined woman. And there’s no way in hell Obama would have gotten away with that on her watch witout her at least getting the VP nom. So hang it up. So let’s have serenity to except the thing we can not change (Obama being president) the Courage to change the things we can (stopping his determiniation to trash our country) and the wisdom to know the difference (because MSM nor the Courts will do anything to acknowledge this whether it’s real or not.)
      By the way i’m not being condescending I”m just acknoledging the fact that MSM could not sink any lower when they come to supporting Obama. No one has to hold a gun to their head to get them to print propagand for this man. There fore much likew ith Gates it will be Obama who finally sinks Obama, liek with the gates incident Obama will do somethingthat slaps another 5% of Americans awake and their will be nothing MSM can do to cover for him. But this like every thing else will be swept under the rug.

        Hypothetically speaking: What if Hillary couldn’t get a copy of the Kenyan BC and wasn’t able to make the allegation without proof…or maybe she was warned not to break ranks with her party by ratting on Obama else she would run the risk of alienating all other Dems…and getting ABSOLUTELY NO SUPPORT from wealthy donors if she ratted on Obama…someone or some people – very rich and powerful – could hold enormous sway over Democratic presidential candidates…. they may be the “king makers” and boy if you cross them you are in deep trouble…forever….and McCain was too chicken to bring anything up because he wasn’t a natural born citizen, himself.

        Do any of those hypotheses sound plausible?

          There’s absolutely no way she could have brought up any suspicions she may have had without having definite proof. And there was a HUGE machine working against her and for BO, so I don’t think the “Clinton machine” could have necessarily found that proof.

        If the information had been revealed to insiders or through opposition research back during the campaign, the DNC would have supressed it at all cost, deals would have been made, and everyone, including the Clintons, would have had to play along. Once the DNC had committed so many of it’s resources toward Obama, the revelation that he was ineligible would have exploded the Democrat party, and it would be many years before the pieces were picked up. They quite possibly gambled that it could be contained and they arrogantly shot for the moon. It could very well be an historic example of the “big” lie being swallowed by the masses simply because it is SOOO big, few could believe anyone would try to get away with it.

          You are right. So many people spend so much time ascribing responsibility to others for rescuing them from their own frustrations. But each of us lives in a state with an AG; and we can file complaints with the AG that given all of this fuzzy information, it would appear that the DNC committed elections fraud by Certifying BO was a NBC without first determining he was Constitutionally eligible for the job. In some states, this is not only fraud; it is explicitly against the law. Let the A’sG investigate and figure this out; that’s what we pay them for.

      My prediction: by this time next year the story will finally have “legs”, but only after Barky’s favorability ratings tank and it is clear the Dems will suffer major losses in the mid-terms. The powers that be turn against him. Info will be slowly released, but packaged in a way as not to provoke a constitutional firestorm.

      Barky will announce some medical malady (which causes purple lips) and prevents him from seeking a second term. We have two years of a lame duck and his posse spends all their time trying to re-write history books and get “The One”s face on Mount Rushmore.

    Yes confused, the timeline makes perfect sense. This was a certified copy from the original, retrieved in 1964. Obama’s mother had just filed for divorce from the scumbag father, and she needed Barack’s birth certificate to either prove paternity or take custody. Either way, this is how it went down. She then rushed to Hawaii, perhaps knowing that she could get a later certification of live birth for Obama, playing on their lax laws regarding who could get a BC. It all makes perfect sense.

    By the way, when was the birth announcement made in the Hawaii newspapers, and does anyone have the microfilm verifying that the announcements did indeed appear as alleged? If so, this was in the planning longer than I just suggested.

      LIke I said my granddaughter had a birth announcement in the town paper that her mother went to school all her life. She didnt live there. All that was given was Parent’s name, gender of baby, babys’ name, date of birth, and weight. NO address for the parents or baby.

      Town was small enough that many knew my daughter didnt reside there anymore. . Her announcement wasnt the first one like that, nor the last one. To this day you see birth announcements of babies whose parents dont live in the town, or sometimes never did and only grandparents do.

      One thing kind of weird about Obama’s announcement. I think I heard something about street address. Dont think I remember that in a newspaper announcement before.

        Yes, newspapers will let you put in any kind of announcements…they never ask for proof. They even let you write the announcement yourself…they most they do is to edit it down slightly, in case it is too long…

        They have always operated this way. When I got married, I wrote up my own wedding announcement, supplied pictures, etc., sent them to my mother who took everything down to the local town newspaper and they published it without a shred of evidence. The whole wedding could have been a hoax or never happened, for all they knew, but they never questioned it…just went ahead and published it.

        So just having an announcement in the paper means nothing.

        Confused, a private detective interviewed the next door neighbor to the address in the birth announcement in the paper and discovered that the Obama’s did not live at the address put in the papers. The Neighbor to the address lived there for several years prior to August 1961 and knew everyone who lived next door to them.

    I hate to bring this up, but has anyone seen the Kenyan Birth Certificate broohaha? The story appears to have broken today and it is going wild now at several internet sites, with links over to WorldNetDaily.

    Of course, this Kenyan document has not yet been authenticated, but here are photographs of this doc…very old looking document…it could be a fake, but who knows at this point?

    Most folks think that Obama should just go ahead and release the Hawaii long form BC to stop the controversy…and while he is at it, how about releasing the college records to prove to the public that he didn’t attend as a foreign student….

    Even Obama supporters at Huffington Post are now demanding that Obama release the long form Birth Certificate.

        Yep, the Confluence is more than closed-minded on the subject they are stupidly dismissive of it. I left because it is one thing to have different opinions but it is another to attack your faithful posters.

        I was one of the earliest (early August 2008) to front page on the subject of eligibility and always said this was going to be Obama’s Watergate, eventually.

        This Kenyan certification of birth looks pretty genuine. In all events as genuine as the Hawaiian ones, if not more. It needs to be autenticated before I pass a definite judgment on it, but I am not dismissing it out right.

      What I saw was that the lawyer submitting the Kenyan BC asked the court to have it verified. If the Justice Dept tries to block this it is as good as an admission of Ozero not being NBC.

    I have read that Obama has added a couple more.

    First, happy birthday. I do hope Aug. 4 is an enjoyable day for you and your family. Coincidentally, I also will be celebrating this week the birth of someone dear to me, my beloved wife, Gena, whose birthday is on Aug. 9.

    Speaking of birthdays, I couldn’t help but hear and read all over the news last week about the fresh attention to your constitutional eligibility and natural born citizen status. I can hardly believe that individuals are now offering bounty – one for $100,000 – for any personal witness or sufficient evidence to your American birth.

    For nearly two years, this debate continues to grow despite all your administration’s attempts to diffuse it. And those who are raising concerns aren’t just those on the right, but moderate law-abiding citizens like a retired CIA officer who commissioned an investigator to look into the issue.

    Still, your press secretary, Robert Gibbs, continues to glibly brush aside the issue by calling it “fictional nonsense.” But, in so doing, he devalues the grievance passage of the First Amendment and insults those who are genuinely concerned and inquisitive by categorizing them all as political quacks. He needs to learn that you can’t model tolerance for certain minorities while belittling and quarantining those who don’t blindly follow your lead.

    Believe it or not, I’m not writing you to challenge whether you were born in America, though I see nothing wrong with the American public voicing that constitutionally based grievance with someone in your esteemed position. As one blogger wrote, after all, “We aren’t talking about a 12-year-old qualifying to play Little League here.” Or as Ronald Reagan once said, “Trust but verify.”

    Personally, I must admit that I find it a bit of a groundless stretch not to believe in the birth announcements in two major Hawaiian newspapers in August of 1961, in which the Hawaiian Health Department would have been required to post information they received directly from hospitals: “Mr. and Mrs. Barack H. Obama, 6085 Kalanianaole Hwy., son, Aug. 4.” Nevertheless, that proof still doesn’t answer why you refuse to reveal your original birth certificate and end the growing tides of controversy.

    I’m writing you because this is no longer a matter merely about proving a presidential prerequisite in the Constitution. Refusing to post a copy of your original birth certificate is an unwise political and leadership decision that is enabling the birther controversy. The nation you are called to lead is experiencing a growing swell of conspirators who are convinced that you are covering up something. So why not just prove them wrong and shut them up?

    If the birther movement is truly full of a bunch of conspiracy-fringed kooks or “zombies,” as the Los Angeles Times proclaims, then prove once and for all that you are a naturally born citizen by posting your original birth certificate. And all the controversy will fade away like the pains of childbirth.

    I agree with CNN’s Lou Dobbs, who was chastised by his own media outlet for demanding the release of your original birth certificate. So why is that such a bad request? We certainly know why CNN/U.S. President Jon Klein thought it was a bad idea: because he previously declared that CNN researchers determined that Obama’s 1961 birth certificate no longer existed.

    But Hawaii’s officials confirmed again last week that they indeed have your original birth certificate on file. Dr. Chiyome Fukino, director of the Hawaiian State Department of Health, repeated her October 2008 statement that she had personally seen with her own eyes the “original vital records.”

    Some claim that even you cannot see or request your own personal birth certificate, because Hawai’i’s disclosure law (Hawai’i Revised Statutes 338-18) states that “it shall be unlawful for any person to permit inspection of, or to disclose information contained in vital statistics records, or to copy or issue a copy of all or part on any such record … ”

    But the law further states that the Health Department “shall not permit inspection of public health statistics records, or issue a certified copy of any such record or part thereof, unless it is satisfied that the applicant has a direct and tangible interest in the record.” (Italics mine)

    Isn’t categorically satisfying constitutional requirements for a president, or answering the First Amendment grievances of hundreds of thousands of Americans, or ending a national debate or healing a country’s divisions enough “direct and tangible interest”?

    Mr. President, as more and more people realize that you are refusing to release your original birth certificate, further questions will fuel the fires of debate or at least hinder the embers from ever being snuffed out. Questions like, “Does it really contain the Hawaiian physician’s name?” Or “Does it disclose something other than his birth place that he wishes others not to see?”

    In fact, last week copies of the 1961 birth certificates from twin girls, who were born a day after you in the same Kapiolani Maternity and Gynecological Hospital, give examples of those typical of the time. They include much more information than certificates today, like the baby’s parents’ ages, occupations, birthplaces, race, etc., as well as specifics of the medical personnel presiding over the baby’s birth and the hospital in which he or she was born.

    Of course not every U.S. citizen has access to their original birth certificate, but you do, and that’s the only one under debate. As valuable as copies can be, textual critics know that nothing outweighs an original, especially when only it contains the information under question.

    So again I ask, why don’t you simply request, release and give permission to make public your original birth certificate?

    Mr. President, you promised the American people that you are “committed to creating an unprecedented level of openness in Government.” In fact, on July 23 in your prime time press conference, you said that your administration was more transparent than those of previous presidencies: “I think that we have provided much greater transparency than existed prior to our administration coming in.”

    So again I ask, why not live out that transparency promise by posting your original birth certificate and end the division and debate?

    Well, I have a birthday to plan, so I better get going.

    Again, happy birthday Mr. President.
