And you are absolutely right abt your take on this. Kathy Griffin did her show, “My Life on the D List” last week on Prop 8. She went around and talked to people abt it before the case was decided by the CA Supreme Court, and religion was the one thing people mentioned most often. It was really interesting to see how they responded when Kathy would ask them more questions abt it.

Thank you for bringing up the point about DADT…I was merely speaking to gay marriage when I said it was a non-issue for me, personally.

I think most people object to marriage on religious grounds (or at least that’s what they say). There are many religious beliefs and principles that don’t necessarily translate to the law. People go against their religion all the time for love…I don’t see the difference here. I suspect, that people who are against gay marriage are in reality just icked out about homosexuality; still believing it’s a lifestyle choice and refusing to accept that’s just who people are…not what they choose.

Screw-the-DNC, well said. As we have noted before, women can be our own worst enemies. When we laugh at the sexist/misogynistic “jokes” men make so we can be “one of the guys,” or for fear that we’ll be called”humorless,” we devalue ourselves.

For Dana and Chris to have ever thought that was funny was pretty telling, though. Again, I think it goes back to the Primaries in which men saw clearly that they could say whatever the hell they wanted to say ant women with no fear of reprisal. Rather, too often, their sexist, misogynistic comments were laughed at, indulged, and encouraged. And here we are…

I long and pray for the day when women will truly stand united against them and all the other _____ who think this type of behavior is acceptable, much less funny. Frankly, I hope their mothers/wives/sisters/daughters smack them upside their heads, put a big bar of soap in their mouths and tape them shut.

On a more global level, I long and pray for the day when women will truly stand united and revolt against our media, our politicians, and anything else that makes them feel less than equal, less than capable, less than fully human and worthy of respect.

On that note, my heart goes out to Tel Aviv – to those touched personally by the violence, and for the community as a whole.

Misogyny and homophobia are two sides of the same coin. A coin than makes the holder feel superior in some way. We will not be truly free until we are ALL truloy equal.

I would respectfully submit that what happens with DADT, for instance, does affect EVERYONE, because YOUR tax paying dollars are going to train these soldiers, sailors, and aviators. Like the case of Lt. Col. Fehrenbach, a decorated war hero, on whom the US Air Force spent $25 MILLION dollars to train (http://www.sldn.org/page/s/fehrenbach). Not only is it the right thing to do, it is also the most cost effective thing to do.
