But think about this… two female reporters who work for Al Gore bumble into North Korea and are imprisoned. North Korea calls Hilary a schoolgirl and we send in Bill. Who knows what they got out of it, besides legitimacy of their regime and maybe their nuclear ambitions. Forward to this incident three “hikers” just wander in to Iran, and now they are imprisoned as well. Are these prisoners becoming little more than some backhanded way to grant concessions to rogue nations? Are we going to wind up granting legitimacy to Iran’s nuclear plans and justify it by how happy these three hikers and their families are that we did it?

I’m not defending them. Getting lost in that area is a very stupid thing to do. Many of you are asking why and what were they doing there? Yes it does seem extreme, but I have been to that area while deployed to Iraq and it is breath takingly beutiful. It’s not what you expect and does not remotly resemble the Iraq you see in the news. My fellow soldiers and myself have on numerous occasions commented how much we would like to hike there.

Am still waiting for Hillary or anyone from the State Department or anyone at the WH or my Congressman Keith Ellison or any members of the Congressional Black Caucus make a comment about their former Congress Member Cynthia McKinney being locked up in an Israeli jail for over a week….for delivering food, medicine and toys for children to Gaza.

The stupidity and carelessness of Americans overseas never ceases to amaze me. If these kids wanted to go hiking there were plenty of safe places they could have gone and not created an international stink. Who cares whether the border was or wasn’t marked? Don’t go hike in a dangerous place. Don’t try to get cute by sneaking into North Korea expecting to “blend in” and start asking a lot of questions. Come on now.

Years ago I worked for a man whose son was worked on a ski patrol. He told me that on multiple occasions he had almost died rescuing skiers who, despite being novices, would go down advanced slopes or try daredevil antics like helicopter skiing, etc. He was disgusted and appalled that people don’t know or don’t care about their own limits and expect others to clean up their messes.

The bottom line is look before you leap.

These three a) have an IQ low enough to justify sterilization to prevent contamination of the human gene pool,or b) receive their paychecks from Langley. If it is “a”, they should have to pay every dime of expenses.

Iran will claim they are spies even if they are not and will keep them as long as they can be used for propaganda or bargaining.

Why on earth would anyone want to take a hike in Kurdistan?

Does seem very fishy. If they were CIA the last thing the pentagon would want is for their identities exposed.

My question,

How do you get to the border of Iran that easy. Sure sounds like a lot of planes and trucks and check points plus incredible navigation to place yourself exactly at that position to take a Hike.

However the pictures reveal kids without that much sophistication and a bong in their back pack.

My understanding is that we don’t have an ambassador or embassy in Iran anymore. So there was already an agreement with the Swiss to be our “mediation” people – they apparently still have a presence there. I heard this long before this recent event, so I think that’s what’s going on.

Thanks for the post.

The area in the map in light brown is “KURDISTAN”,
a land occupied by over 40 Million Kurds, but they have no country. Until this is resolved countries (Turkey, Iraq, Iran) have to give up some of their lands. Kirkirk is the Kurds lands that Saddam moved in his Sunnis and pushed out most of the Kurds. This has the most oil in all of the “Iraq” lands. This will be a battle field again after we leave. The Kurds will be killed once again.

So these three “hikers” are crazy to be there in the first place. The border they crossed was still part of what would be Kurdistan if it existed. They are three stupid people. What do we do when three people cross our borders illegally? Under the Patriot Act, they could be held without charges for a very long time. Fair Play?
