Johnson, a super bright and pro politician was able to this THEN. This is NOW. Different dynamics, larger population, and oh yes, a very inexperienced new President named Obama. He did not and does not have the credibility in congress that Johnson had as Speaker when JFK’s death made him Pres.

Any changes for the better that come out of reforming Healthcare seem far away at present.

BTW.,.insurance companies don’t want to pay over reasonable and customary on medical care either–THEY have kept the costs down as much as they can with all the built in costs of health care due to the ambulance chasing lawyers.
