How do they do it? My tongue just won't cooperate, especially when an r is at the end of a word. In the film <em>Milk</em>, I felt Sean Penn (loved him in <em>Sweet and Lowdown</em>) failed to capture the soft elegance of the real Harvey Milk's voice. I've been reading about the actor Claude Rains this past week. He was a favorite, and reknown for the quality of his voice. It surprised me to learn he started out as a stuttering cockney -- maybe there's hope for me yet. And while you’re rolling your ‘r’s, go for it all the way:

a phrase that only a true Scot can say properly:
