He wants whom to shut up?

In a Virginia fundraiser for gubernatorial candidate Deeds, Obama said “But I don’t want the folks who created the mess to do a lot of talking. I want them to get out of the way so we can clean up the mess. I don’t mind cleaning up after them, but don’t do a lot of talking.” Video below the fold.

There is one problem with that. The people who are “talking” are these nice folks in this picture below. They are not the ones who created the mess but they will certainly bear the brunt of the new mess Obama is intending to create. They are “talking” because they realize politicians like Obama are out to hoodwink them all over again. All Obama needs to do to get them out of the way is to give them good and honest information and a coherent plan.

mob

The picture with the scary mob is from thedanashow blog which I found via the memeorandom earlier. Wander over there for more scenes from the “mob rule”.

Going back to Obama’s fundraiser (see video), there is something unseemly about his tone and words as he tries to egg the Democratic crowd. I understand that it was a political event for the faithfuls but still there is something about the juvenile nature of him saying “blah blah blah because I am the president” that just seems silly.

So he wants us to get out of the way, why? Does he think we gave him carte blanche? What planet is he from?

Oooh.. this good doctor is a GOP plant. Let us shut him up and get him out of the way.

Well, watch the video to get a taste of the embarrassing performance by the Congressman. What the hell is wrong with these politicians? The doctor as it turns out was not a Republican.

  • mel

Hmmmm Odumbo seems to forget he sat in the US Senate since 2005 voting for every spending bill brought forth by those guys who created the mess, so a contributor to the mess is going to clean the mess up, why now when he could have done it 4 years ago?

Hmmmm guess he was too busy figuring out how to steal an election huh?

  • Just Me

First ..there is more common sense in n empty coke can than in Dave Scotts entire head. The Georgia 13th is in really tough shape politically. But we get what we vote for….

Secondly people are running scared. There is so much mis-information being broadcasted on the radio and TV that is really hard for many to see through the forest. On top of that most people really do not do their homework well at all and rather listen to the like of Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Dennis Miller, Mike Gallagher and Bill “I am a Great American ” Cunningham than find out the truth about issues.

Once again I ask. how do some folk actually sleep at night?

  • http://www.homestudioessentials.com/ A-Nony-Mouse

*sigh* Most of the people protesting Obama are doing so against their own self interest. Many of these people use Medicare now and are actually going out and arguing against “government run health care” … it’s so sad and ridiculous.

I just wish these people could realize that they are being used. Obama is on their side. The insurance companies are not. Stop fighting against yourself people!

  • Texas Playwright

bho the fraud is a tool of the insurance companies, Wall Street, GE-owned NBC/MSNBC et al and other non-news corporate owned media, big banks, etc.

Obama is on Obama’s side. Period.

  • pm317

I guess the great orator failed to articulate . Load the right speech on the teleprompter, damn it!

  • angry american

i sleep just fine knowing that i have read parts of the bill and want nothing to do with it or the socialist/maoist that have envisioned it.

  • candymarl

Most people want a good health care plan. The problem with this plan is that nobody, including the President, can explain what’s in it coherently.

This administration is acting much like the previous one. You silly little people don’t really understand and you need to let us fix so just go home. Or if you do come out be quiet.

All of these people are not right wing Republicans. Some are Democrats and some are independents.

What I do want to know is how much this bill costs and how it will affect our current government programs like Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security. Everyone politician should be able explain at least that part.

Again, if this all about right-wingers, that liberals/progressives declared DOA before this, where did they get all this power? Democrats control all three branches.

Republicans have been on the stump defending Obama’s plan too. They too have been booed out of the room. That tells me this isn’t about parties but about the people that control them both.

  • HC123

Who exactly are you to know anyone’s self interest but your own?

You are exactly the problem of the ‘I know best for everyone’ progressive crowd.

No, you don’t know whats best for anyone but you and your dependent children.

Now go look in the mirror and say that 50,000x until it sinks in.

  • PO’dVet

Yes by all means you OLD people need to just sit down, shut up and listen to The ONE! He has a full team of advisers who have been writing papers on eugenics for the elderly for years! So they should be in charge of your health care. After all, The ONE has a plan…for health care and job creation! By killing off all you old farts, he will not only drive down medical expenses, he will create thousands of new jobs…even if they are only morticians and grave diggers.

The above is a present for The ONE’s paid bloggers who have once again decided to grace our presence. We are so happy you decided to accept the job you found on Craigs List supporting The Obamessiah’s programs. I wonder…if someone were to offer you $9-$15hr for posting pro-pedophilia comments…would you do that too?!?

  • angry american

read the bill troll i have and want nothing to do with it and my wife and 2 children receive medicare due to disabilities and having 200 billion cut out and then having proceedures decided by government socialist workers no thanks.

  • PO’dVet

seems my comment fell into the black hole if a mod could fix plz…Thx

  • nickoury

Hey bubble-boy, take your head out of hussein’s ass and get some fresh air.

  • Just Me

Its about people not doing their homework and listening to the few extreme right wingers who want this to be Obama’s Waterloo.

While 85% of Americans have private plans the rest depend on clinics or charity care. And with Charity care its still not free. Many people are forced to make a decision on either buying food or medicine… That is unacceptable.

Just as unacceptable as many people who are clueless and rather listen to stupidity than spend the time doing factual research…..

  • WMCB

Good god you people have gone from mainlining the kool-aid to kool-aid high colonics, evidently.

Obama’s health care plan is NOT any sort of rational single payer. It is a giveaway to the insurance companies coupled with a HUGE intrusive power grab by the govt. It is an oligarch’s dream – big govt in bed with big money. He is not on your side or mine, darlin’. He never was.

  • Just Me

Reading and understanding are two different things. Besides I am glad you don’t need the plan, but many do and that is what this is suppose to be about. Those who need it.

  • pm317

Aha..It is the people not doing their homework in the midst of all their busy lives, not the fucking politicians who were hired to represent their interests but who make themselves untrustworthy by their own words and actions. Blame the victim.

  • WMCB

So your reasoning is, basically that because some right-wingers oppose it, it must be good? Sounds to me like you are the one who is not doing any factual research.

I don’t give a rat’s ass what the far right says. Even a stopped clock is right twice a day. I oppose this bill because I’ve READ the damn thing, and watched Obama sucking up to and cutting deals with the big insurance companies right and left, and it’s a crappy bill. It is NOT going to help you.

YOU are the one operating on emotion rather than logic here, not us.

Tell me WHY you support it, in real terms. Tell me what, precisely, it is going to do, and how it will be paid for.

You are hilarious! Hey, post the Healthcare
    plan for us, buddy.
I have a copy of 3200, and have read it, and basically it’s “kill the old and disabled” to save money.

My Dad, who worked for the Mayo Clinic for 40 years, has called out this PHONY President, and you liberal plants who are hell bent on destroying health care can go screw yourselves.

    YOU. WILL. NOT. WIN.

Don’t forget, this is the guy that after he got his ass kicked on national tv by Hillary during the PA debate, he ridiculed her asking the crowd ‘who does she think she is, Annie Oakley?’ Don’t forget also that after Palin made fun of his greek columns, he made that comment about lipstick on a pig. Call him on it and it becomes nonsense “distraction”. 2012 can’t come soon enough for me.

It is a beautiful, but painful irony to watch angry Americans use Obama’s favorite soapbox, the Townhall Meetings” and turn it against him.

The last protest I attended was organized by moveon.org against the war in Iraq. They even put a picture of my poster on their website. It was an honest protest even if it is now obvious moveone is not.

Protest is an old, well-established American custom beginning with the Boston Tea Party. I’m not surprised Obama doesn’t like it. Neither did GWB. What does surprise me is the blatant hypocrisy of the Democratic Party. At the very least, I would have expected my former party to be more discreet as they attempt to stifle descent. And make no mistake about it, A-Nony, people are righteously angry. This isn’t just about Obama.

It is about bailouts for banks, car companies and ins companies, broken promises, congress members willing to vote for something they haven’t read (which quite literally effects our lives) and a president who spends most of his time traveling instead of taking care of business.

My point is that “some” conservatives of which I am one, a blue dog..are making hay with this bill for political gain. That is my point…

I have read the plan and have my own problems with soime of it. But I am with the AMA on this one and they were the ones who opposed the Clinton plan.

I agree with the AMA. Its a good start but needs to go further. The goals that I want reached are the same as the AMA’s … So far and so good while no one ever said it would be easy. So far the AMA goals are reachable and as of August 1st additonal AMA goals were obtained in the Senate version. I’ll wait for the maek up before I make my final judgement.

And yes I am amotional about this since I work with low encome, the poor and the honeless every day. So I see both the greatness of our system and the gaps in the system.

You don’t like the plan? Great stay with your ptovider and thank God everyday you have medical coverage.

By the way, thanks for the insults as well. you make my point very well…

I heard said in the book “Battle for America” by Haynes Johnson, that just before Obama decided to run for President, Axelrod sent him a memo saying he had a thin skin and didn’t take criticism well and would need to work on that. Obama is so used to being loved and fawned over, when he’s not he resorts to snotty comments and behavior. I think as his Presidency continues and his popularity falls, it will become even more pronounced.

  • http://deleted BuzzisbackLatte

Don’t bother with your condescending prayers – Maobama isn’t god.

  • WMCB

The AMA does not speak for doctors. They are a huge lobbying organization lining their own administrative pockets, and not much else. Less than 15% of working doctors in this country even belong to the AMA.

And BTW, I’m a nurse who has worked in county public health, married to a doc who regularly cares for the uninsured, and I’m the daughter of a social worker – so I see the gaps in coverage at least as much as you do. Your implication that those not supporting Obamacare are selfish and don’t care about the poor and the homeless is insulting. It’s partly because I DO care that I know this bill is crap.

  • Lily

I am going to give Obama the benefit of the doubt and assume he is referring in his remarks to insurance companies and not to little old grey-haired like myself. I don’t have a high opinion at all of insurance companies, but Obama’s comments sound like a veiled threat to me. His comments do not raise the level of discussion in the slightest. In fact, I think he is degrading the discourse with these kind of comments. He may be the President, but he is not acting like a leader; he is acting like a hooligan. I wonder if what’s his face, Axelrod, is advising him to take this approach. Somebody needs to dig up some nice scandal on that guy so the Democrats can get a sane, civilized advisor in there. But then when you have a teleprompter-dependent, ignorant dilettante like Obama as chief executive, I guess their tactical options are somewhat limited.

  • WMCB

Oh, please. I’ll pray for you, too – to get some damn common sense and stop with the “I care so much for the poor” Mary Mother Theresa act, trying to guilt people into supporting a horrible plan.

We all care for the poor, sweetheart. Get off yer moral high horse.

  • TeakWoodKite

  • pm317

I think he is referring to GOP and the previous administration (who in his words created the mess he is cleaning up). It is his way of branding all dissent for his health care reform as coming from the Republicans.

  • tango

Can I ask why NOONE of public prominance has yet pointed out loudly and publicly (that I can see) that the people arrested for violence at these town hall meetings are NOT the ones protesting against the health care bill but are in fact the ones supporting it? Why not point out the physically injured parties are the protesters being beaten up by the union members or other Obama supporters.

I read an article in the paper today talking about the protests and all that but never mentioned that the only ones arrested were the union members. They implied it was those against the health care bill that instigated the violence. Even Keith Olbermann did a segment talking about it but conveniently forgot that it was the liberals attacking the protestors, not the other way around. Someone needs to point this out loudly and often because the media and Democrats can’t say it’s a lie, it’s on video tape and in the police reports.

  • TeakWoodKite

I’ll wait for the maek up before I make my final judgement.

By then all will be lost. (Time for the 3am parachute drop…)

    Just Me, if you trust in what is unfolding in front of you to be something resembling a step in the right direction, I will leave you with this;

There were three men came out of the west, their fortunes for to try
And these three men made a solemn vow
    John Barleycorn must die
They’ve ploughed, they’ve sown, they’ve harrowed him in
    Threw clods upon his head
And these three men made a solemn vow
    John Barleycorn was dead
They’ve let him lie for a very long time, ’til the rains from heaven did fall
And little Sir John sprung up his head and so amazed them all
They’ve let him stand ’til Midsummer’s Day ’til he looked both pale and wan
And little Sir John’s grown a long long beard and so become a man
They’ve hired men with their scythes so sharp to cut him off at the knee
They’ve rolled him and tied him by the waist serving him most barbarously
They’ve hired men with their sharp pitchforks who’ve pricked him to the heart
And the loader he has served him worse than that
For he’s bound him to the cart
They’ve wheeled him around and around a field ’til they came unto a barn

And there they made a solemn oath on poor John Barleycorn
They’ve hired men with their crabtree sticks to cut him skin from bone
And the miller he has served him worse than that
For he’s ground him between two stones

And little Sir John and the nut brown bowl and his brandy in the glass
And little Sir John and the nut brown bowl proved the strongest man at last
The huntsman he can’t hunt the fox nor so loudly to blow his horn
And the tinker he can’t mend kettle or pots without a little barleycorn

    .

A great deal of this anger is not about health care. I think that’s just the catalyst. It’s the classism and elitism that is getting to people. People are getting real tired of watching congress buy new jets and give big bonuses to AIG and talk about the need to raise taxes.

One of the first things that needed to happen to get people on board with health reform was to convince us that the Gov can be trusted. People don’t want to be left behind in a superdome waiting for the Gov to get around to caring enough to help us out. For good reason people are skeptical about putting their health in the hands of the Gov. This could have been remedied by coming up with ways to show the people that their care is not going to be dependent on the Gov’s integrity, their good graces. Congress could have joined in, said they would participate in the plan. A single payer, universal plan that covers people like Oprah, Bill Gates, may have convinced people that quality would be high.

Calling people names, trying to silence dissent, and telling people to just trust Obama is not the way to sell a health care bill.

  • Seattle Moss

The Rats are really getting desperate.
Pelosi and Hoyer call folks like me Un-American for questioning a health care bill that will destroy the American dollar and cause hyper inflation and our need to use the Juan as currency in the future.
    I find these people stupid!!!
It’s not that I’m against affordable health care as I pay a great deal for my wife’s disabilities but during an economic collapse and after the Cap and Tax debacle how can I trust these anti-business buffoons.

  • William L. Donlon

I Found This On The Net.
    You Be The Judge.

An Inconvenient Truth About The “Death Panel”

Sarah Palin has kicked off (another) firestorm of criticism because of the statement she released on her Facebook page:

The Democrats promise that a government health care system will reduce the cost of health care, but as the economist Thomas Sowell has pointed out, government health care will not reduce the cost; it will simply refuse to pay the cost. And who will suffer the most when they ration care? The sick, the elderly, and the disabled, of course. The America I know and love is not one in which my parents or my baby with Down Syndrome will have to stand in front of Obama’s “death panel” so his bureaucrats can decide, based on a subjective judgment of their “level of productivity in society,” whether they are worthy of health care. Such a system is downright evil.

The incoming fire and blind hatred has been withering, as usual. Palin is accused of becoming the “Zombie Queen,” certifiably insane, “clinically wrong,” and espousing a “gruesome mix of camp and high farce.”

These critics, however, didn’t take the time to find out to what Palin was referring when she used the term “level of productivity in society” as being the basis for determining access to medical care. If the critics, who hold themselves in the highest of intellectual esteem, had bothered to do something other than react, they would have realized that:

the approach to health care to which Palin was referring was none other than that espoused by key Obama health care adviser Dr. Ezekial Emanuel (brother of Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel).

The article in which Dr. Emanuel puts forth his approach is “Principles for Allocation of Scarce Medical Interventions,” published on January 31, 2009. A full copy is embedded below. Read it, particularly the section beginning at page 6 of the embed (page 428 in the original) at which Dr. Emanuel sets forth the principles of “The Complete Lives System.”

Palin was true to Dr. Emanuel’s concept of a system which

considers prognosis, since its aim is to achieve complete lives. A young person with a poor prognosis has had a few life-years but lacks the potential to live a complete life. Considering prognosis forestalls the concern the disproportionately large amounts of resources will be directed to young people with poor prognoses. When the worst-off can benefit only slightly while better-off people could benefit greatly, allocating to the better-off is often justifiable….When implemented, the complete lives system produces a priority curve on which individuals aged between roughly 15 and 40 years get the most chance, whereas the youngest and oldest people get chances that are attenuated.

Dr. Emanuel’s proposal is advocating the withholding of some level of medical treatment to a baby born with Down Syndrome. You may not like this implication, but it is Dr. Emanuel’s implication not Palin’s.

One interesting concept which is central to the concepts being discussed is the creation of a panel of “experts” to make the politically unpopular decisions on allocating health care resources. In a letter to the Senate, Barack Obama expressed support for such a commission:

“I am committed to working with the Congress to fully offset the cost of health care reform by reducing Medicare and Medicaid spending by another $200 to $300 billion over the next 10 years, and by enacting appropriate proposals to generate additional revenues. These savings will come not only by adopting new technologies and addressing the vastly different costs of care, but from going after the key drivers of skyrocketing health care costs, including unmanaged chronic diseases, duplicated tests, and unnecessary hospital readmissions.

To identify and achieve additional savings, I am also open to your ideas about giving special consideration to the recommendations of the Medicare Payment Advisory Commission (MedPAC), . Under this approach, MedPAC’s recommendations on cost reductions would be adopted unless opposed by a joint resolution of the Congress. This is similar to a process that has been used effectively by a commission charged with closing military bases, and could be a valuable tool to help achieve health care reform in a fiscally responsible way.”

Such a commission will have the power to curtail allocation of resources to those who are not deemed capable of “complete lives” based on prognosis and age, as proposed by Dr. Emanuel?

Palin has taken the position that ‘to exclude the issue of allocating resources away from the elderly and infirm from the debate over “cost cutting,” ignores the ethical elephant in the room. Let’s have the debate, and understand specifically how resources would be reallocated, before any vote on a health care restructuring bill.

Palin is right to insist that before we create a commission to make such decisions for us, we need to first consider whether we should outsource these ethical issues or deal with them as part of the political process.

SEC. 123. HEALTH BENEFITS ADVISORY COMMITTEE.
    (a) ESTABLISHMENT.—
    (1) IN GENERAL.—There is established a private-public advisory committee which shall be a panel of medical and other experts to be known as the Health Benefits Advisory Committee to recommend covered benefits and essential, enhanced, and premium plans.
    (2) CHAIR.—The Surgeon General shall be a member and the chair of the Health Benefits Advisory Committee.
    (3) MEMBERSHIP.—The Health Benefits Advisory Committee shall be composed of the following members, in addition to the Surgeon General:
(A)9 members who are not Federal employees or officers and who are appointed by the President.
    (B) 9 members who are not Federal employees or officers and who are appointed by the Comptroller General of the United States {Appointed by President every 15 years} in a manner similar to the manner in which the Comptroller General appoints members to the Medicare Payment Advisory Commission under section 1805(c) of the Social Security Act.
    (C) Such even number of members (not to exceed 8) who are Federal employees and officers, as the President may appoint.

That alone is enough reason to ensure that never becomes law! 2/3 of the panel would be appointed directly by the President!!! Even if you brain dead Obamabots choose to believe every single lie he tells you…this should cause you to oppose this crap bill! Just imagine how great our health care system would be right now if this had been law when GWB was appointing people!?! I think it is time to stop with the rhetoric, name calling, arguing, anything. Stand tall, with arms folded, in silence. Stare these fuckers down, knowing what is right, and since they refuse to listen (as they have already shown), vote them out. Stand silent in town hall meetings, with signs. Silence and RIGHT speaks way more volume then endless screaming dialogue….you are just playing their game, with endless words. Be the silent, powerful majority. Silence, signs and the truth on your side will scare them more than anything else, because they have no way to combat it, and have no idea what to say to silence. Blog, but only the truth, no arguing. The truth will win, it always does. I don’t think Saul Alinsky has a plan to combat this technique! Just my opinion. PS…I am a Native American woman….this is my Country, I love it…..this is the only advice I can think of to give to WE the people! WE own this land, no one else does! That is the one tiny little fact all of them forgot. Americans have always fought and died for America! I know in my heart, America is much, much stronger than this latest “in your face” dirty corruption that has taken over our Country. WE WILL WIN, don’t lose heart! America will not be destroyed. The majority is much stronger than this minority (and I don’t mean race) of corruption. American citizens are good, honest, hardworking people and we have had enough of this TRASH….in such a very short time. Americans are so much better than this crap. WE THE PEOPLE will prevail. There are way more of us than the 570 of them!!

The way I have come to understand what is going on with Obamacare is deals, all kinds of deals made with every entity behind closed doors and we don’t know the details of it — we just got to know about the drug/big pharma deal, we know about the insurance deal (with the mandate, no public option), what else, who else? There is something for everyone but nothing much for the taxpayers since it will not fix the uber problem of high costs and taxpayers paying for them. I see a mantra started in April that the elderly are not needing the vaccine as they are not high risk, due to less cases-and being somewhat more “resistant”. However what is being overlooked is:

    1. The elderly were more than likely not exposed due to where they live and do not attend school, nor socialize like others, during the first round .

    2. The elderly have a higher mortality rate according to the cdc, when they catch the flu, swine version or otherwise.

Who is paying for the jobs in this San Diego ad?

Now is our chance to make health care work.
America’s health care system is broken. Health care costs are spiraling out of control, throwing families, businesses and government into financial crisis. Families are worried their health coverage won’t be there when they need it. Our country can’t afford to wait for health reform that keeps costs down and protects consumers.
We can’t wait for affordable, dependable health care.
We’re fighting for health care that will protect families’ financial health, lay out a clear path for all Americans to afford health care, and improve patient safety and quality care.

THis is totally characteristic of Obama. Remember when he called DEMOCRATS in the South who voted for Hillary Bible-thumping, gun-toting rednecks?

This is exactly why he wants to import 200 million illegal hispanics and give them the vote. He’s afraid of white people. Lots of legal white American citizens are not on board with his agenda and they question things. All Obama politicians in the federal government want to replace the legal white majority in the U. S. with foreign ethnic people who they believe are so desperate they can be “managed.”

When these foreigners get citizenship and the vote, who will the pols and corporations import next? You can bet La Raza will immediately switch to fighting for a fair living wage and benefits for all the new Mexican citizens.

Note that when you assist a suicide, it is murder, while when the government does it it is “Obamacare”.

  • tek

JustMe: it is foolish to react to national healthcare with a knee-jerk, redneck reaction born of propaganda and we really do need universal, single-payer healthcare, but that’s not what Obama is offering. First of all, he will not state specifically what he wants. He’s always “open to negotiation. If you don’t like that, we’ll change it.”

Second, Obama is not offering a plan whereby all Americans pay in and all Americans get total coverage like Congressmen have. He’s mandating that Americans BUY health coverage. (How many insurance lobbyists does it take to get a mandate for insurance and screw the American People)?

Obama wants the productive portion of the population to pay their own healthcare premiums, then they’ll be taxed on their “Cadillac Healthcare” to pay for people who don’t work. Some people cant’ work because of disabilities, but they’re already covered under Medicaid.

The fact that Obama wants hard-working Americans to pay for coverage for people who don’t work and for people who have entered the U. S. criminally, is outrageous.

  • tek

Just Me: kindly go to Numbers USA and find that almost the entire 40 million people in this country who are not covered are illegal aliens.

  • tek

Just Me: The AMA? What difference what they say? They are the main organization that has kept Americans from having national healthcare.

  • tek

JustMe: no dear, Obama is making political hay with this bill. It’s bad for America, but he wants to be able to say in 2012 that he passed a healthcare bill. Everything Obama has done since he got into office is “political hay.” He has to pay off all the special constituencies he bribed to vote for him. That is the most important thing all Americans need to research about Barack Obama.

His healthcare bill is in trouble because he’s pandering so hard to neocons he can’t come up with good bill. It’s his tribute to Ronald Reagan–the last president who–according to Obama–brought positive change to America.

Obama is desperate to pass a healthcare bill because he scorched Hillary over failed efforts to get national healthcare.

Now he’s in the real school, it ain’t so east.

  • tek

WCBM: Truer words were never spoken. The guy is a total opportunists from the git-go.

  • tek

This is how Obama got on the ballot–getting in people’s faces, people from his own party. He is the quintessential thug.

Still couldn’t get enough elected delegates to WIN the Democratic nomination.

  • Ferd Berfle

That went completely unnoticed, apparently, by the powers that be. Liberals, to their eternal shame and disgrace, are not better than the neocons.

  • Ferd Berfle

    …No better than….

  • Ferd Berfle

Or a ring of fire, as it were. That One’s other residence is alongside the river Styx.

  • Doc99

Ferd … these guys are worse … far worse … as they continue to dismantle that which made America great.

  • Ferd Berfle

I agree that they are worse. I just want this political pendulum to stop its wild gyrations. Not from you, but I see even here, apologists for right-wing extremism, who insisted on pushing the pendulum so far to the right that it had to swing in the other direction with the same force. Until the American public gets this simple truth, we are in for more of the same and frankly, I am sick to death of it.

  • oowawa

Yeah Ferd, I agree. I want that pendulum to stop swinging back and forth and just take a rest in the middle for a while. We really need some centrism. Maybe if enough people on both sides get disgusted enough, that will be possible.

  • Ferd Berfle

    We really need some centrism.

That is certain, oowawa. What could have been….

  • Ferd Berfle

This is a copy of what I sent to my Congressman today concerning the death bill:

I have read the entire Healthcare Reform bill and find it to be completely unacceptable. It inserts bureaucrats into personal matters that are no business of the government; it creates an even bigger mess than the one we currently have because it creates even more unnecessary paperwork; it does not even begin to address the fundamental issues regarding the cost of healthcare.

What this plan does do is create new databases from which even more of our personal information can be stolen, misused, or lost. It makes senior citizens “plan” for death, as though that is any business of the government. It creates new ways for the government to extract even more taxes from those of us in the middle class who are already suffering from a poor economy; and the truly outrageous part of the bill is that we will provide healthcare to illegal aliens, who haven’t paid into any system at all to begin with.

This sham of a bill should be summarily pitched into the nearest dumpster for incineration at the earliest possible moment as it represents hazardous waste–hazardous to the economy; hazardous to healthcare; and hazardous to our rights as individuals. I am certain that I am not the only one who feels this way and those who vote for this unmitigated power grab and those who vote against it will be remembered come the 2010 election cycle.

    Sincerely,

  • Tricia Spiegel

This is getting so nasty. I get bombarded constantly from Move-on, politicians, and just now, David Axelrod (Obama’s PR Strategist). It’s all those outsider ultra-conservative Republicans who are causing problems they all say.

Why are they afraid to notice that so many are progressive Democrats like myself who have read the damn bill and see that it is gretaly flawed. There are runors spreading that are not true. Mostly the bill is incomprehensible, so you can, for example, say that mandatory “end-of life” counseling is mandatory (it doesn’t say that) or that it is voluntary (it doesn’t say that either). It’s totally unclear. If one of my students handed this plan in I would not even grade it–I would send it back and ask them to try again, this time making sure it made some sense.

  • Ferd Berfle

The word you are searching for is gobbledegook. It reads like every other pile of manure manufactured in DC. They make laws as Incomprehensible as possible so that courts have to get involved and make the actual decisions. Then these politicos go home and bitch about activist courts.

    It is all a sham.

  • pm317

They are getting desperate, aren’t they? Looks to me like they have lost control of the message. May be mostly because nobody knows for sure what is in it, like you say, nothing is clear cut. I am dumbfounded that a major piece of legislation was handled this way by the Obama administration. What the hell did they expect? That everybody would quietly follow them?

  • http://www.homestudioessentials.com/ A-Nony-Mouse

holy christ. you have medicare and yet you’re fighting against “government run health care.” you are a troll and you don’t even know it. It’s sad.

  • Ferd Berfle

Look, dink, this bill does nothing but create more bureaucracy and interference in the discussions between doctors and their patients. I understand that you, being a moron, need such intervention because not only are you unable to actually read much, but what you do manage to read is not comprehended in that pea-sized brain of yours. Moreover, any discussion between you and anyone else is an exercise in futility as all your head does is bob as though in understanding. That you need a bureaucrat there to hold your hand is a given. Suffice it to say, the rest of us don’t need that sort of help.

Run along little troll; you bother us.

  • Ferd Berfle

What the hell did they expect? That everybody would quietly follow them?

That One and Company, not being fast learners, must have confused us with that herd of obamabots who blindly follow them. We do all look alike to them, you know.

    Serfs Up!

Mark Steyn has written powerfully about the entire question of government-provided health care. Steyn says even if costs could be contained by the new government takeover, and even if government health care did not lead inevitably to rationing — two conditions most analysts consider highly unlikely — Americans should still reject ObamaCare.
Why? Because, Steyn says, when the government takes over health care it fundamentally changes the relationship between citizen and state. People are no longer patients to their doctors or constituents to the government. They become supplicants. I will say it: they become serfs.

Some definitions of conspiracy: Do any of these apply to some people whose faces and names are well known? (Emphasis mine.)

“The crime of conspiracy, according to its modern interpretation, may be of two kinds, namely, conspiracies against the public, or such as endanger the public health, violate public morals, insult public justice, destroy the public peace, or affect public trade or business

Law An agreement between two or more persons to commit a crime or accomplish a legal purpose through illegal action

The conspiracy does not need to have been planned in secret in order to meet the definition of the crime

Agreement between two or more parties to commission and carryout an offense, such as to commit murder or inflict injury, or to defraud, rob, or steal. In many jurisdictions the conspiracy agreement itself is considered a crime, whether or not the intended offense was carried out.

    Agreed

It is against my religion to commit suicide. Any agreement given for someone to take or assist in the taking of ones own life would violate my religious belief and my civil rights.

    One difiniation of conspiracy.

California could get nine House seats it doesn’t deserve because illegal aliens will be counted in 2010.

The problem with the proposed health care bill is the cuts to medicare…..seniors beware…..you will lose what you have been used to because you cost too much money…..wake up before you lose what you already have. In order to run universal health care from the existing budget….there will be budget cuts and seniors are the first to go. You will be too expensive to keep alive.

  • Regina

There needs to be change….everyone agrees….but this bill is a crime.
