Andrew Sullivan’s Overdetermined Tendentiousness

And there he reclines on his swivel chair in his antiseptic office. Flanked by two dogs, the hirsute critic types a few mindless words as the computer slides onto the rippling folds of excess flesh that spill off his lower abdomen. “Not glib enough, not misogynistic enough,” he mutters to himself. He slowly lifts his lame wrist and languorously depresses the delete key. Suddenly he remembers the letter he received from a contact in the Obama campaign who explained how all political commentators must refer to Hillary Clinton’s supporters with the barbarism “Dead-Enders.” He also remembers how he is charged with exasperating Hillary’s followers at all costs. Staring at the opaque space that lies just beyond his aquiline nose, he struggles to recall a verb that evokes the image of a hysterical woman. He ruminates; he struggles; he licks the beads of sweat glistening on the surface of his unkept beard. “Hyperventilate,” he screams. And he raises his flaccid wrists in order to resume the arduous task of writing once again.
Animals are allowed into the narrative space of Andrew Sullivan, but women, particularly bright, bespectacled women, are debarred entry. Women, after all, threaten the androcentric field onto which he and other men predicate their phantasms and identities. So there she stands, gazing in from without, a pane of glass separating her from the system of signs only Sullivan and his imaginary phallus can manage. She remains outside of language; she remains outside of the grid of the intelligible; she remains spectral; she remains invisible. Besides, he cannot descry her in that warped space he animates into existence with his myopic regard.
So he mindlessly cites some text, eliding what RonKSeattle and others have demonstrated again and again: Obamabots have assumed the identities of vociferous Hillary Clinton supporters across the world wide web. Allow us to offer another demonstration, lest the torpid Sullivan once again cannot discern the object that looms before his penile eyes.

Let’s not fool ourselves here. Being a McCainBot isn’t any better than an ObamaBot.
McCain isn’t a maverick. He flip-flopped on the war, he flip-flopped on Bush’s tax cuts for the rich, he flip-flopped on warrantless wiretaps, and he voted with Bush 95% of the time in the Senate last year.
Bush and McCain are very, very close on the issues. And McCain stands very far apart on the issues from Hillary.
If you’re a true Hillary supporter, I don’t understand how you could vote for McCain. He doesn’t support her stance on Iraq, the economy, universal health care, education reform, and a lot more.

I agree, I can’t imagine voting for a person who stands at odds with Hillary on almost every issue.
Voting McCain is not the best option for Hillary supporters.
Remember that Hillary has spent 40 years in public service fighting with integrity for the issues she believes in.
McCain is against Hillary on Iraq, on health care, on education reform, and on the economy. McCain actually stands with Bush on most of those issues, and look what the last 8 years of Bush gave us.

I understand the anger directed at Obama, but McCain is a man too.
Do you think the Republican party will EVER have a woman run for their nomination? They are a ‘good ole boys’ club that has their glass ceiling near the floor.
I think what it comes down to is the issues. Hillary spent 40 years of her life fighting for woman’s issues, and for issues that affect all Americans.
Her platform was for universal health care, ending the war in Iraq, reforming our education system, and fixing the economy.
Yet McCain stands at odds with Hillary on all those issues. He’s even against a woman’s right to choose, one of the most basic liberties afforded to us.
Can you really call yourself a Clinton supporter if you vote for McCain? I think nothing could be more dishonorable.

Three identities; three false electronic mail accounts; one Internet Provider address: Hillary supporters are transformed into Obambots.
He smirks, he shrugs, and he ignores the evidence. He does, however, gasp. He hyperventilates.
