Sexuality is a natural part of human nature just as eating food and drinking water. It facilitates exercise, relaxation, relationship, and procreation. Almost all people do it and, likewise, we each judge the behaviors of others as they reflect our attitudes about ourselves. It is no wonder that more Republicans who are outspoken in criticizing the “family values” of others get caught; their words are mirroring what they unconsciously know about themselves. Finally, we are all entertained and intrigued by hypocracy and we have cable television with 24/7 broadcast time that must be filled so they fill it with the most salacious content they can find. It is the same reason my grandmother loved soap operas. Cable news is real-time soap.

These statistics do not include the number of “Internet” affairs or porn sites and movies which may or may not apply. In some countries, visits to prostitutes do not constitute infidelity. In other cases, for example Pres Clinton and many teenagers and adults, oral sex does not translate to a sexual relationship so it makes reliable statistics almost impossible.

Power is an aphrodisiac and people are drawn to that power whether the person is the president or the local DA.

Pat, you left out Newt Gingrich and Bob Barr, the leaders of the attacks on Clinton and both involved in extra-marital affairs at the time. Larry Craig (“Clinton is a naughty, nasty, bad boy) was already cheating on his wife. Helen Chenoweth was also condemning Clinton while engaged in an affair.

It is the hypocrisy which led Larry Flint on his crusade to expose many in government.

The reason men cheat is because their partner no longer fulfills their true sexual desire. When a male’s sexual desire is not being fulfilled, they become unhappy. They meet someone, usually younger and more carefree than their partner, and find this new person can fulfill their true sexual desire. When their sexual desire is fulfilled by a new person, they question the love they feel for their old partner.

Meanwhile, their old female partner is not having her sexual desire fulfilled either anymore. She responds to this by losing her desire for sex. He takes her loss of sexual desire as a rejection.

This happens in established relationships all the time. One key to preventing this is to understand what the male’s and female’s true sexual desire are. I believe Freud has answered this question better than anyone else to date. Another key is to understand what love really is, and to practice love.

I can’t help but wonder how many men have had to call their doctor as they are constantly advised to do on TV if they have an erection that lasts more than 4 hours!

My Dr. got so sick of me calling him up in the middle of the night that now he just makes me go to the emergency room.

I am a little confused because many of those pants look like the horrid ones with large flowery print (though they always had bell bottoms) that we girls wore in the late 60′s and early 70′s. As I recall, usually we had a midriff tops that also had some of the crazy print on them, probably on the bell sleeves at the elbow. My kids have a photo of me wearing one of these very “mod” outfits next to an old boyfriend, who was wearing his very stylish plaid bell bottome pants. They find this photo hilarious and have even commented that they understood why the guy broke up with me (because of my lack of fashion sense).

In any case, I thought this was an article about men cheating.

As for all these political affairs, I really don’t want to hear about them. I did like it better when the press left private lives alone, as long as those private activities were not illegal or impinging on job performance. I blame Gary Hart for openly challenging the reporters to find out anything like that about him. I think that may have opened the floodgates for all these sleezy stories about politicians sex lives.
