I think Bush jr was on your side Larry. I think at the end of the day he began to despise Cheney because of the Plame case. I think Bush’s father probably went through the roof when he found out that Plame was exposed by Cheney. I do not think Bush sr every really liked Cheney. So Bush Jr probably was taking his cues from his father on Cheney at the end….

I will miss him too. As a moderate, I always looked forward to his commentary and respected what he had to say a straight shooter in a town where that’s increasingly rare. I didn’t always agree with Mr. Novak, but I respected him.

And to a modicum of credit even in the Plame affair, had there been even a hint of threat to her from the head of the CIA, he would have withheld. The fact that none of the leakers were ever indicted speaks volumes to me. As did lawyers for Libby repeatedly questioning whether Plame really had covert status. She practically admitted as much uncertainty herself.

So what Novak did was wrong, but if this was “treason” to government investigation was even more under-funded and grossly mismanaged. …

Despite the Plame case, I like Bob Novak. I watched him for years on the Capital Gang and Crossfire and I like him. I feel sad that he died. I’ll I say it again – I like him. None of us lives up to our ideals all of the time.
