Thank you for bringing to light the disparity between fame and service. Sgt John Aragon's service was celebrated yesterday with family, friends and proud Americans. Praying for peace.

SGT John D. Aragon, of Antioch CA was buried today in a Funeral with full Military honors, befitting a hero. There were several members of the media (from various agencies) present from start to finish. I am not sure how much will actually make the final cut. Members of The Patriot Sentinel Riders, American Legion Riders and Patriot Guard Riders were present, riding as an honor guard for the family. Interested bystanders lined the streets from the church to the cemetary, most waving the american flag. Zero anti-military protesters were in evidence. California Highway Patrol and City of Antioch Police blocked intersections and escorted the assembled mourners to the cemetary. The families last act of saying good bye to John was a release of doves. It was, to say the least a beautiful ceremony.

exactly. I feel that Hillary was able to make her own mind up (and truthfully, I wanted to go to war back then as well. Not because of the media. But because I was pissed off.)

and I'm glad that he got to see Luke graduate. He'd just had to put Big Russ into an assisted living home a few weeks ago, which, to some might be cold, but, I take comfort in the fact that he had taken care of things that would be affected in the future.

58 years old is way too young... FOR ANYONE to die.

P.S. I don't believe Tim Russert or the media should be held accountable for deaths that occur in Iraq. That does not make sense to me, sorry Lj but I must respectfully disagree with you on this one.

Well, looks like I disagree with many here. Tim Russert will be missed by his family, friends and fans. I enjoyed hearing stories about Tim and Big Russ. Perhaps for many in the world of politics they did not always agree with him and how he interviewed certain people but all in all he was a good guy. I heard someone say on TV that Tim thought he was used by Cheney and My own family did not like how he treated Hillary Clinton.

War is a horrible, horrible thing and I truly don't believe anyone "likes" war. Death is equally horrible.

I am glad Russ was able to spend time with his family in Rome. I am glad he was able to see his son, Luke, graduate from college and I am glad he was able to spend time visiting in the Vatican. Russ came from a working class family. His father worked hard - holding down two jobs at one time. Russ lived the American Dream in my book. So cheers to Russ and hugs to his family.

I mourn Russert only in that he represented, for a time in my mind, what I "hoped" him to be - a true journalist through and through which is so very much needed in a country bent on protecting freedom of speech...but he was not. Russert proved profoundly during this election season how distorted and opinionated he truly was (which one should never see from a true journalist) and how very capable he was of pulling his own version of distorted power to give off the "image" he wanted to present. Sadly, I cannot say I mourn him today as I would probably have done a few years ago...I burned all of his books almost a year ago in protest to the censorship I saw him go along with week after week - it was disgusting. That is the traitor I felt him to be...not a traitor to "my" cause or the specific cause I believed in, but traitor to a true journalist's cause...the cause to always speak and present "truth" and he chose not to - he chose to censor and also chose the more popular, lazy route as "commentator" where truth has no bearing on their words...just look at Matthews and Olberman - disgusting hacks that not only will no one mourn - but people will probably dance on their graves. Russert's bias was my first realization that our trusted U.S. Media is GONE - IT'S OVER - OUR MEDIA IS A JOKE TO THE WORLD AND RIGHTLY SO - Russert could have stood up for it, fought for it - but our country wasn't worth it to him - the money and book deals were easier.

You realize that Obama is bad karma. Everybody who has anything to do with him either ends up with a tumor or dies unexpectedly. I am not voting for this guy for nothing. I want to live.

you have to admit,, you BOBOwenies are some of the most high stressed "winners" in history. With how loudly some of you BOBOweenies were screaming for Hillary to leave the race since back in February (and it was really funny watching you froth yourselves up into a tizzy) it has surprised me that more of you haven't left your brains splattered all over the walls from your almost daily conniptions.
