A Statement on the Standards of No Quarter [Update]

First and foremost, we will not tolerate any comments that are in any way racist. Thankfully — despite what our critics say — those comments have been very few and very far between. As Larry told you, in one instance only, we contacted the Secret Service to report a threat against Barack Obama. That involved ONE person ONLY. We were very impressed with the Secret Service’s attention to the matter, and their frequent follow-up calls and e-mails to ensure they had all relevant information about that ONE person.

UPDATE: Similarly, we will not permit sexist remarks here, even though the mainstream media regularly make sexist statements without regard for their impact on women.

We hold that same standard for the articles published here. There have been a couple instances when articles have slipped through our standards review, and gone up. Those have been immediately removed whenever there’s any question, particularly that would in any way be construed as racist. Even when it was not the writer’s intent in any way. We find racism, even the suggestion of it, abhorrent and will not permit it on this blog.

Secondly, we tolerate dissent on this blog. We believe in the realized dream of “free speech” in the United States of America. That said, we do not tolerate dissent that turns into nasty attacks, repetitive attack comments that are published several times in several posts, and personal attacks on the writers who are BRAVE enough to publish their works here.

Thirdly, we have ZERO tolerance for comments that attempt to expose personal information about any of our writers or those who comment here. To those vicious and stupid enough to do this: You are placing real people’s lives in danger, in ways you cannot know (and, sadly, do not appear to care about). As I said in a post last week, if anything happens to those you are trying to expose, you may have real blood on your hands.

Above all, we believe in civilized discourse.

We can comment here like the ladies and gentlemen that we wish our favored political candidates to be.

Jeralyn at TalkLeft stated a view that is important to quote here:

[T]here’s a difference between expressing disagreement with politicians and voicing displeasure with some of their actions and comments, — and even with questioning their sincerity or suitability for office — all of which are okay — and with filling the comment threads with hateful character attacks.

i agree but is snarky still OK ?

    • http://noquarterusa.net/ SusanUnPC

Snark is fun. Satire is also great fun — and is protected free speech — with the cautionary note that it cannot in any way be racist in its wording.

We’ll leave that to the hideous folks at Free Republic blog, where I have never returned since, while researching an article, I went to that site looking for a link to a newspaper article and discovered, to my horror, three threads that argued for taking away the right of women to vote. Since that day, even when it’s made it difficult to find a link to a valid newspaper story (because they post newspaper stories there all the time, and that blog shows up at the top of search results quite often), I refuse to go there.

      • Madam DeFarge

No Quarter is unequivocally the best blog
        on the web.
Larry, Susan, Bud, Texas, keep up the great
        work.

        • http://noquarterusa.net/blog/ Truthteller

And what about me? Although I am usually ignored, I would hope readers of this blog were at least thankful all the great work I have done. But as I learn again and again when engaging with people involved with politics, most people are not sufficiently appreciative of others’ labor. They will offer criticism, however. And Democrats are the worst. They reward mediocrity, and they insult and marginalize those who are actually talented. Again, they are not sufficiently appreciative. Indeed, Democrats are ingrates.

          • HARP

Truthteller… We know you do good work. In the words of Sir Winston Churchill ……Every day you may make progress. Every step may be fruitful. Yet there will stretch out before you an ever-lengthening, ever-ascending, ever-improving path. You know you will never get to the end of the journey. But this, so far from discouraging, only adds to the joy and glory of the climb.

          • Judith

You write beautifully!!! Your research is through and thought provoking!

          • rjj

            artful and pitch perfect, truthteller.

          • Teakwood

I am a fan Truthteller, and have a deep respect for you and all the people who publish their work here.

The articals and research done has opened up the possibilty that the truth maybe heard.

            Keep at it.

Thanks to NQ and the crew of fine gutsy people who offer their thoughts view and opinions.

It is hard to stay focused on the subject at hand when presented with obviously false comments by OBORGS.

            Stay frosty k?

    • Barbara50

I hope I am not one that has done this but I smell Obama’s whine in this, has anybody witnessed what goes on in the garbage dump ‘DAILYKOS’?

      • JoseyJ

Non-stop sexist lingo and hatemongering for Hillary – and continued false accusations of racism against the Clintons.
The video-generation Kidz are easy to dupe. Obama knew this. Just give them a target – to defocus from Obama’s lack of substance.

And because Obama’s blogboyz keep pushing propaganda and don’t set the record straight, some Obots still believe Hillary initially said “as far as I know” during the 60 Minutes interview questioning her that Obama wasn’t a Muslim.

And yet – these same blogboyz gripe about the MSM! that has followed the blogboyz promoting Obama and concealing damaging info about him.

        Kossacks are the new Freepers.
        Obamabots are the new Bushies.

        • BcuzIsaidSo

One really has to wonder what the rantings would have been like had John Edwards managed to do what Hillary did in keeping up with Obama during the primary.

        • http://deleted AnninCa

Why? They won. Just can’t stand not to hate, eh?

        • MaryPat

Equally obnoxious is the HuffPo–where Hillary-hate is not only tolerated but implicitly encouraged, and where pro-Hillary comments simply are not published.

I’m not talking about anything inflammatory, profane, or comments including personal attacks. Polite and substantive responses that were not welcome because they favored someone other than that website’s chosen candidate.

The suppression of free speech is one thing. But manipulating the free flow of information is quite another. Oh, the HuffPo publishes the occasional pro-Hillary blog–but then the reaction is controlled by the moderators. The negative feedback is overwhelming.

I don’t like the Obamamaniacs here, but at least they are allowed to have their say. And it’s quite enlightening to see how their small and uninformed minds work. Know thine enemy.

    • hats

Thank goodness No Quarter has standards.

      Great job!

  • http://thehorizontalworld.blogspot.com/ Medusa

    Susan,
What about sexism and misogyny? Shouldn’t that be in the list too? This whole primary season has allowed such odious sexist and misogynist comments, PLEASE include a statement that those will not be tolerated.

    • motherinKY

I wish these rules would apply to the street. Obama supporters regularly told me that I “sucked,” that Hillary “sucked,” or everyone should “f*ck” Hillary. They also called Hillary and her supporters whores. The misogyny of Obamabots is unbearable, and I wish they would leave us women alone.

      • JoseyJ

Obamabots are merely following Dear Leader.
Oh sure, Obama didn’t SAY “F**k Hillary” but he certainly gestered it enough to get the message across.
        And his bots willingly obeyed.

        • Tampa Bay Dave

          Well, say “Fuck Obama!”

And then sit there, and see what your next thought is…

Your mind is kinda blank, except for the feeling of increased anger, while a spool of drool hangs from the left corner of your mouth, right?

And that’s it, the level of intellect and inarticulate tool we’re all dealing with here, no real threat, when you look past the gas…

And speaking of gas, while picking out a father’s day card for a father not my own, I’ve noticed American Dads have been reduced to beer, farts, money, overwork, and “me time,” in the form of an afternoon on the toilet, (according to Hallmark).

You just called to say “I love you,” in your own special way…

    • http://noquarterusa.net/ SusanUnPC

We must have been on the same wavelength because, as soon as i hit Publish, I realized I hadn’t mentioned that — it was quickly added.

  • http://thehorizontalworld.blogspot.com/ Medusa

I just saw the update–thanks. That feels better.

    • Kathy

I love the update, too, but could you also include it in the body of the article, i.e. “We abhor racism and sexism, even the suggestion of it…” Our society is at least aware now about being PC when it comes to racial discussions, but we haven’t reached the same level with our intolerance of sexist remarks. Perhaps Hillary’s legacy will at least be that sexism became as inexcusable as racism. Of course, I still hold out hope that Obama will implode and Hillary will be the democratic candidate.

  • Susaninbosque

I for one am deeply grateful that you are not only committed to these standards but that work so hard to create a space where intelligent discourse can take place. Were it not for NoQuarter, I am certain that my sense of horror and shock and the ensuing depression would have been far worse post the destruction of the Democratic Party. It has been a very very hard couple of weeks and I have needed your presence badly.

Please note a very difficult but accurate diary at HillBuzz which will probably stay with me forever…

Obama Chickens Out On Appearances With McCain

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3VDDoHCaxpA

Citizens for McCain is an organization within the McCain campaign for people who put country before political party and support the candidate for President who has a proven record of bipartisanship.

I have worked with John McCain for many years in the U.S. Senate and know from experience that he can unite Democrats, Republicans and Independents like no one else in this country. He did it in the United States Senate and he can do it as President of the United States.

Thank you for your willingness to help me expand this new organization. Together, we will make history.

    Joe Lieberman

      Why chicken out of debate?

It is a grand opp to strut one’s stuff.

Could also be construed as opp to flop.

  • victim.of.violence.of.obama.supporters

Thank you for writing this, Susan. Obama supporters are violent, and they will do anything to ruin this blog.

    • motherinKY

I am a victim of verbal abuse of Obama supporters. What happened to you?

    • Tommy

victim.of.violence.of.obama.supporters: Unless you argue with Obama supporters they can’t do squat but post and show their abrasive mean conduct….Ignore their post and post something of value…Or haven’t you learned the opposition uses tactics to off set value?

Post facts they can’t debate or deny….Like Gas prices are increasing causing other products to rise in price because Obama said he wants gas prices to rise….Obama ,said he will give the middle-class tax breaks, but raise taxes on those with income of 250,000 and up….But what Obama isn’t telling once the taxes are raised on the 250,000 and above the poor and middle class will pay through their butt paying higher prices for products the upper class invest in….The upper class gets the appearance of their taxes being raised but facts are, the middle class and poor pay….
Obama said he will meet with our enemies without pre-condition…Obama,said we cling to our God,our guns and Religion because we’re bitter….And Obama has far too many Terrorist friends. Rezko,he helped Obama raising 250,000,but only admitted to half then later Obama admitted Rezko raised 250,000.

Obama didn’t denounce Wright, just excused him for his hatred…

      • JoseyJ

Obama also voted for Bush’s energy bill that gave HUGE tax breaks to the oil companies!
And Obama was first out of the gate to denounce Hillary’s proposal for a gas tax suspension!!
Oil company CEOs bundle for Obama…he can’t afford to anger them.

  • jwrjr

The only racist comments I have seen here were left by trolls. (Maybe we should refer to such as “troll poo”?)

    • Dawnelle

      jw I agree

and thanks Susan for this post. I’ve sent it to my “not so wonderful” friend who called Larry and this blog a few names the other day. (supposedly voted for Hillary too)

      hope he reads it

    • Judith

Me, too. Is that the reason for this article?

  • Shainzona

Susan: thanks for the reminder…to all of us.

Did you notice the NYTimes lead article about McCain’s ’74 thesis….seems to me that if it’s OK to bring that up and dissect it, it’s now equally OK to bring up Michelle Obama’s thesis and dissect that, too.

So the next time anyone suggests it’s “off-limits”, remind them that now anyone’s “thesis” is legitimately in play.

    • StrawberrybitesBarky

That was a great article, if it was a hit piece, it wasn’t a very effective one. I came away with more respect for the guy. I find that even when I disagree with someone, if that person stays strong to what he believes, even when he is TORTURED, it’s hard to show him disrespect. I also admire his willingness to forgive. Damn, Mccain is one complicated guy. Barky on the otherhand is a shallow, vapid piece of fluff that goes along with whatever political wind is blowing. DAMN IT, we could have had Hillary.

    • Ted

One difference is John McCain is running for president, Michelle Obama is not. So, to some degree, McCain deserves more scrutiny. Don’t you agree?

      • Shainzona

Yes inasmuch as one is running for POTUS.

But Michelle Obama has made herself a part of this campaign and deserves scrunity, too. And her past writings should serve as the basis to “understand” what’s on her mind – particulary since she has made her beliefs a campaign issue.

        • Democrat

But, I have to say, I’ve seen a lot of misinterpretation of her thesis. For example, in some places, Michelle was quoting others but not endorsing what they said, but posters claimed that those were her opinions.

In my view, you lose some credibility when you take things out of context and misinterpret them. I think we can do better.

          • mimi

Oh like the fair tale comment by Bill Clinton?

Obama supporters are still trying to spin this misquote as racist and no matter how much you correct them they refuse to acknowledge that Michelle Obama misquoted the former president.

            Talk about losing credibility!

            • mimi

              That’s FAIRY TALE!

    • Kathy

I read somewhere that the ‘myth’ that Michelle Obama’s thesis promoting racial separatism had been debunked. Is that true? I find it hard to believe since portions of it have been quoted, and it is supposedly under lock and key until after the election.

  • http://thehorizontalworld.blogspot.com/ Medusa

    • Democrat

      You mean this?
      http://www.nytimes.com/2008/06/15/opinion/15rich.html?_r=1&ref=opinion&oref=slogin

I didn’t see anything sexist in it. He pointed out that
      1. McCain has a terrible record when it comes to women’s rights and even in sexist speech and
      2. Not all women Clinton supporters think the same way and do the same things.

What was sexist about his column? I’d love to hear your thoughts.

I would really like to know what this article is all about. There was a nasty comment yesterday..that was pulled quickly…as I was replying to it. There was a YouTube video pulled this morning…that was very cute…albeit, needed to be edited just a tad…but it was from one of the funniest commenters here. There have been many nasty comments from “hit and run” bloggers. I would hope that the commentary you wrote was directed toward those people…rather than people who have been here for months and are very funny and entertaining.

The effect of this is corrosive and will have a negitive effect on the DNC ground game for November. Sure like to hear from people about that.

  • http://parsingwords.blogspot.com cjbardy

Thanks Susan for this wonderful post. I truly believe we can have debate and discourse with different points of view without resorting to racism, sexism and name-calling as was all to evident at many sites during the primary campaign season.

        • JoseyJ

I’ve often wondered if many of the most vitriolic Kossacks (spewing hatemongering for the Clintons) were members of Trinity Church.

        • sleepy

I thought the Kossacks were just a bunch of naive, young computer kids, easily misled.

  • Susan1968

    This is a great goal.

We must continue to show by example that Pro-Hillary people debate with facts and intelligence while it is the the online Obama supporters who, absent the ability to argue intelligently, collapse into vitriol.

I expect the Obama blog patrol will grow more negative online as the race goes on.

As much as they claim we (who reject BO and the hijacking of the DNC) are not ‘real democrats,’ they’re running scared.

The very fact that so many groups of Democrats rejecting Obama and the DNC have sprung up on the net is scaring them.

You can safely multiply every group membership by at (the very least) 100 to get the true number of people online who share those views. (Not to mention people who do not particpate in online political debates.)

Look at the memberships of PUMA, Hillary Democrats for McCain, and the half dozen other groups who are racking up members, multiply by 100 and you get an idea of how many voters feel the same way yet remain silent and lurk the sites.

Think about it — if polls can get a near accurate percentage of voting results by polling 500-700 people, then imagine what the real numbers may be when considering Dems who are against Obama.

Add to this, we’re only looking at numbers of the active online communities which is only a fraction of the real pool of voters.

I guesstimate that those Hillary Dems who would readily switch to Obama have already done so.

There are most likely two more camps of Dems — folks like me who will never support Obama and folks still on the fence waiting till election day is closer.

The Obama camp knows this. And they are running scared. For the next couple of months I predict polls of Obama v McCain will remain exactly as they are: a virtual tie.

Expect the online Obama camp to become more desperate and angry.

We Hillary supporters should remain rooted in facts and refuse to stoop to their level.

  • k in the northwest

The person who posted what you quoted is making it up as they go along.

        Obama people often do this.

My favorite fact of the week is the letter Rezko sent the judge — true to form Fitzgerald is putting the squeeze on him to roll on others.

This is Fitzgerald’s technique. (Fitzgerald is a very interesting man — I reserached him too — wish we had more prosecutors like him).

    Hi,
I have never blogged before and just roam around the blogs looking for opinions and information. I am a 58 year old woman living in the midwest. For a few years now I have been and avid reader of No Quarter. I always found it to be very informative about the war and intelligence matters.
My choice in this election was John Edwards. He, as we know, didn’t make it very far. That was sad for me but it didn’t change my opinion that the democratic party and ALL of the candidates running more closely reflect my feelings on how our wonderful country should function. The past 7 years have had a very dire effect on my family and extended family. I just can’t imagine John McCain would offer anything different.
What has prompted my writting is most of all the direction this site has taken since Sen. Clinton gave her last speech. Once John Edwards was out I really didn’t have a prefered choice, as I said, I think they ALL would make fine presidents and even the least of them would be 1000% better that John McCain. I don’t think many of us out here who live below 40,000 a year can afford 4 more years of this economy.
No Quarter has stopped giving any info about the war or what the president is cooking up before he leaves office. Nothing about the awful changes taking place in Afganistan and what can be done there. I really miss that. I have been contemplating removing No Quarter from my bookmarks because I would go down the list of sites and when I came to this one I would hesitate and cringe and wonder if I should. This morning I truely believe you finally crossed my personal, That’s Just Too Much, meter. A post about what a first lady should look like? I just sat here and stared at it. The vitriol is so bitter. I like Hillary and I like Barack but I don’t like the kind of vile and mean things I’ve been seeing here.
Since I have decided to remove this site from those I read regularly I thought I should at least voice my reason for doing so. I’m not an educated person, with not even 1 year in high school, but I’ve never thought I was stupid either. I like balanced arguments and reasonable discourse. I have found neither here for time now.
I won’t post again but thought it important to let someone know how some readers feel.

    • Dave_Not_For_Obama

The past 7 years have had a very dire effect on my family and extended family. I just can’t imagine John McCain would offer anything different.

Your little business on EBay seems to have done well.

I’m not an educated person, with not even 1 year in high school, but I’ve never thought I was stupid either.

You don’t seem “stupid”, your EBay business looks to be doing well since 2001.

Since I have decided to remove this site from those I read regularly I thought I should at least voice my reason for doing so.

I guess this is your FINAL goodbye then. Buh bye.

I couldn’t agree more with iamcameo. This used to be a great blog–whether or not I agreed with it–which IS the purpose of a great blog. Then No Quarter became a mirror of what they claim about Obama supporters. At first when I merely stated that I thought some headlines and stories were over the top, SusanPC and others Immediately assumed I was what they called an “Obama troll” and claimed I was naive. I was in fact an Edwards. then Clinton supporter that worried extremism would hurt, not help, her cause.
This blog, more than any the other fifty or so blogs I browse frequently, never uses reason to inform or refute, but only attempts to belittle any one who doesn’t hate Obama or any Obama supporter.

      • candymarl

        Ok. Bye.

      • candymarl

I guess you were not around for the name calling and vilification of anyone that was not an Obama supporter. The more reasonable we were the worse things got. You seem to have missed that part. But I guess you can visit all of those other blogs and tell them No Quarter, a blog, is responsible for your change of heart.

I see where this is going and you just lost some more Democratic voters. After months of abuse some of us got tired of it and fought back. Hence my warning to not use sexist or racist terms. Or to fall for the baiting used by Obama supporters. The owner of the blog and his posters have warned against the same repeatedly.

But I guess you missed that too.

    • mimi

      iamcameo,

Perhaps you overlooked the fact that Larry Johnson took down the photos and that this post is with regard to ‘Standards at No Quarter.’

One of the things about this blog which differs from the HuffPo just to name one is that the people here at least ADMIT when they make an error. They also allow dissenting opinions. If you voiced a similar anti-Obama comment, the moderators at the HuffPo would probably not let it through. Did you know that? Or do you only care to criticize Larry’s Blog because the people here are largely anti-Obama?

Everyone is entitled to support the candidate of their choice. I will defend that to the end. I have chosen not to support Obama because I don’t think he’s qualified and has enough experience. I also did not like the way he ran his campaign. But the Democratic Party is the biggest reason I will not give him my vote. They handpicked this nominee and basically spit in my face with regard to the way they orchestrated the nomination process. I will not reward the Party with my support this year. It matters not that McCain and I differ on issues. At least he is trying to be a voice of reason with regard to appealing to Hillary’s supporters. Obama and his supporters have made it clear that they don’t need my vote, so they won’t get it. It’s really very simple for me.

That kind of blatant arrogance troubles me and I don’t like it in a potential candidate for POTUS.

But the bottom line about your post is this: everyone here supports your right to choose and vote for Obama. There is NOT ONE Obama site that I could go to and make a similar comment as you’ve just done and not be treated with abject derision, offensive language and maybe even physical threats. That troubles me in a democracy. That you and I can voice different opinions on a site like NO QUARTER is the main reason why I value this democracy and will do everything in my power to protect it.

Hi all — just wanted to let you know last night I stayed up for hours and I read McCain’s book “Faith of my Fathers” — all my pals here know I was for Hillary, until events in this election, so what I am doing is a through look at who Republicans are (My Grandfather was) so I can know their standards.

If you want to know who McCain is? You will not be able to put that book down. What you will see is the strength of heart in the man.

Courage, smarts, leadership — I’m not kidding.
I’ve watched this three ring circus of mainstream media viciously savage all three of them in one way or another. It is beyond horrific. Discourse, however is the mark of a civilized society.

Writers now have the “instant” letter to the editor, something we never had, when newspapers were worth their salt, or TV journalists.

I finished that book, and my choice is made.

I really think we need a period of restoration of decency here, and he would be that. Anyway missed all of you, and you are heroes to me, all of you.
When you read about his character? You can see who he is on those pages. His character is sterling, and the best part? He’s like you Larry. Very much like you, in print. He stands for all the good stuff we know about this place we call home. Plus, his experience is unsurpassed in my opinion, to know what to do next to pick up the pieces.

    • Democrat

      McCain is a good man.

But I do not want him as president because I disagree with basically all of his policies.

      He wants the war continue.

      He is anti-choice.

He is for the global gag rule.

He wants to continue Bush’s tax policies.

He wants employers to stop offering health insurance and have insurance completely the responsibility of individuals.

Any Democrat is better when it comes to those policies.

      • candymarl

I tell you what. Let McCain take the WH then you can fight against his policies. Like many of us have done for regressive policies for decades. Time for you to fight. You’ll get older and more tired. Let McCain do his worse. Then you can fight to un-do it. As many of us have had to do.

That’s what you do in a democracy.

Or you can tell your fellow democrats the person they better vote for. Very un-democratic.

        • Democrat

I’ve been fighting against Republicans for decades myself. Personally I’d prefer it if there wasn’t a Republican in the WH.

And I’d never dream of telling anyone how to vote. However, I see it as the essence of democracy to discuss our vote choices and preferences with others.

          • candymarl

Then don’t tell us about McCain. We can read. And judge. And vote how we wish. It’s called democracy. We don’t you to tell us that.

            • candymarl

Typo: we don’t need you to tell us that.

          • Jim (Victim of Obama Crony Identity Theft)

You say that, but then you go and support Obama. If you’ve been involved for decades, then you’d know how phony he and his entire campaign is. You’d be as cynical and skeptical as most older Democrats are about him. You’d also have some respect for the Clintons and what they did for the country in the 90′s.

The disregard for the Clintons today by the Obamabots is either the product of all those Republicans supporting him or young Democrats who don’t know what the words research and history mean.

      • Dawnelle

obama is going to continue this war as well (I’ve seen the video)

he’s pro nuclear energy (I think it’s a mistake at this point) McCain is pro-environment

I said this before – we, I mean DEMS will have a VETO proof House and probably Senate in NOV. NO one will pass any bill or JUDGE through w/out their complicit consent……….. so that’s not a worry for me.

All of the things he agrees with DEMS on will get passed. The heinous bills will be struck down (if the D’s do their jobs)

If Hobama is held accountable to all his BIG MONEY donors (especially the ones from foreign countries) and with his moral/personal/internal compass pointing the opposite direction as my OWN – I am beyond considering Obiwan and at a point where I will not cry if McCain takes NC (which I’m sure he will)

he’s no prize but he’s nobama and that’s truth of it

  • Judith

Have you ever considered a special section to show the hate email you receive, along with the links? Texas Darlin’ and Taylor Marsh both do this. I know your article is not addressing that aspect…but it might stop some of the negative trolling here. That does tend to get us riled up…which serves their purpose.

  • YoNoForObama

I was in discussion with an Obama troll on this site and she published my name, address, phone number, and age.

Needless to say, I didn’t post again for a long time after that.

    • StrawberrybitesBarky

      How did she get it?

      • StrawberrybitesBarky

And why should this intimidate you, it should energize you to fight the slime. This is what we’re up against. Take the fight to them.

      • YoNoForObama

I was using my first initial (y) and my last name which really isn’t uncommon and had mentioned previous times living in Washington state. I guess there weren’t very many people with my last name that had the first initial of “y” and she zeroed in on it and published it. Our phone number is a published phone number under my name and my husband’s name so there it was on NQ!

I didn’t blog for a while after that because I felt thoroughly violated by the hatred from this troll. I also didn’t have a Hillary bumper sticker because I KNEW my car would be vandalized if I had had a sticker on it. It is so bad with these horrible thugs that I was afraid by having my name and address published that some of these thugs might actually come to my house to beat me up. Sad isn’t it?

After my husband found out about it, he pulled our guns out and we did some target practice. He has the guns in strategic places in our house and by the way, we don’t have children at home anymore (thank goodness). We live on six acres and have large dogs so it would be hard for someone to unknowingly come to my house but that’s how much it scared me.

        • StrawberrybitesBarky

Man, these folks are sick puppies. And they went rabid after Michelle Mankin posted personal info about her opponents. Go figure. The hypocrisy is stunning. But just realize this crowd grew up on video games and no PE. Their mommies won’t let them football for fear of getting hurt and they got medals just for showing up, they feel they’ve earned everything without doing anything. We were raised on “That’s the best ya got?” while the biggest kids in school plowed us in the face during dodgeball and we were told to just walk it off.

        • WildChild

I wouldn’t worry. The fringe-iods won’t do anything. The only balls they possess exist solely on the other side of a computer screen.

    • Admins can’t be trusted

I was in discussion on this site and the site mods posted some of my personal information.

And every time I’ve posted about that, the post ‘vanishes’ and they try to ban me.

      How very odd, eh?

  • Tommy

Amazing! If Fox news can be held accountable for reporting truth ,or at least 99.9 % truth, Huffington will be tried, convicted and sent to a deserted Island so she can have plenty time to think how she can whup the judge that sent her there…..Funny as hell to think Fox News and 18 million of us Hillary supporters will be tried, convicted and handed a Barky T-Shirt to wear for a day…..”HA”….I’ll put the damn T-Shirt on my dog so he can Barky. “NO PUN INTENDED” LMAO!!!!

    • Democrat

Of course that will never happen and one of us should ever wish it. Free speech is a precious legacy. If there’s not free speech for people with whom we disagree, it doesn’t really exist.

    • sleepy

Funny as hell to think Fox News and 18 million of us Hillary supporters will be tried, convicted and handed a Barky T-Shirt to wear for a day…

Why do you assume to speak for 18 million Hillary supporters?

You certainly don’t speak for any that I know.

  • rwc

    SusanUnPc
If you’re gonna run a moderated blog you better set examples of what constitutes racist and sexist postings.

Right now you got squat for either and it makes banning and censoring no more than your whim.

  • K Bentley

I keep wondering, will we ever heal from this travesty of an election? What is to become of us? We’ve seen one of the best democratic candidates destroyed by a campaign and a party’s greed and personal agenda.

I’ve come to the conclusion, that it’s not all about the candidates. No, it surely isn’t. This old gal has seen gallentry and heroism in my life time and this election is void of all, including integrity.

Obama supporters, and Clinton supporters, listen up for a moment. Let’s not take any evil remarks against each other and look what we’ve lost.

We’ve watched a party play us against each other. The media has laid a plan to discredit one candidate and allow our Constitutional rights trampled on for the sake of money and getting what they want as a candidate.

Is this what we’re all about? Obama supporters, I khow you’re passionate about your candidate and that is wonderful to be loyal in what you believe in. Clinton supporters, you are just as passionate and loyal, and that doesn’t make you bad.

But, here is what I see that is dangerous for both of us. Like I’ve said, it’s not just about the candidates. IT’S THE DNC PARTY.

Look what they have done. They (the DNC) planned on Obama some time ago to be the presidential nominee. It’s no longer a secret. They’ve let this candidate take over the power of the party and that should leave all of us to object. We can’t dismiss his lack of experience which the older crowed picked up on early. But his ability to acquire funds are very important to this party and they enjoyed it up til now.

What further is sad for the Obama supporters is that he was not elected, but selected. The DNC and media have all confirmed that his is the nominee, but he doesn’t have the delegate count and more are artfully backing off with their support. Mainly because of Obama’s apparent inability to professionally carry out presidential quality. Now these two, DNC and Obama, are in contant use of each other, and that’s not good.

Hillary supporters are not angry at Obama supporters, they are angry over the fact that the best suited candidate was pushed out of the process. They aren’t children; they are people that are worried about the future of this country. However, again they have been polarized as angry old women and do not account for much.

Let’s pull together and stop a party’s personal agenda and dumping on our Constitution. We have a right as a people to see that the laws are upheld to protect us from these personal agendas. My dad and grandfather fought for us to have these rights. And, I vote for my country…

    • http://deleted AnninCa

The media is not to blame for what the DNC pulled or for the behind-the-scenes crap by Pelosi, Kerry, etc.

That’s not media. That’s the Democratic Party.

The media didn’t make Donna Brazile say that we had no choice or that the Democratic Party no longer relied up our votes.

      That’s the DNC.

The media didn’t require Obama delegates to treat Clinton delegates like crap in Washington. That was the party.

  • mimi

Your post is a reasoned one in a time of unreason.

Sadly, unless Obama’s tactics change, we’re not going to be able to heed it.

  • YoNoForObama

You know I have a very important question. Why is it that ALL of us cannot organize under one banner as former Hillary supporters and now as anti-Obama supporters? There are so many organizations/blogging sites/non-blogging sites that are anti-Obama and there are thousands of men and women in each but for some reason we cannot unify as one site. Can you imagine the power we would have if ALL OF US FORMER HILLARY SUPPORTERS could band together and have one site with literally hundreds of thousands of all of us in it.

I read on one site that the Obama people aren’t afraid of the Hillary supporters because some DailyKos people “crunched the numbers” for them at Hillaryis44.com and found that there are only 500 people there, So the Obama people can go ahead and keep on thinking that we are only hundreds stron or maybe even thousands strong but I want to send them the message that we are hundreds of thousands, if not millions strong.

How do we do that or how can we work to do that?

    • sleepy

Well, you’ve already got the republican party. Why reinvent the wheel.

Oh, and btw, Gallup says that Obama’s support among women is higher than either Gore’s or Kerry’s, and attributes much of his bounce in the past week to former Clinton supporters.

      • StrawberrybitesBarky

Holy Crap, that’s a helluva’ lot of pissed off deadenders! So what say you, Obama? Oh that’s right we’re racists, yadda, yadda, yadda.

        • Judith

You bet it is!!! We can’t allow Dkos to think there are only 500 Hillary supporters who will not vote for Obama. It is simply not true!

          • StrawberrybitesBarky

Actually it’s a good thing to let your enemy believe you have inferior numbers and that your army is a mess. It makes them drop their gaurd. And spend less time and resources on you. But the good news is, while they’re here battling us, they are spending resources and energy that they should be saving for Mccain. They’re so screwed. They played the scorched earth card than realized they burned the bridges they needed to continue the fight in November.

            • StrawberrybitesBarky

              Poo, damned typos.

  • ClydeSloppers

At first I was gonna say I wish HuffPost had these standards but at this point I don’t care. Thalia/Danbury is gone, AnninCA is here and the brillian LaFeminazi being for the Greens is kind of out of place the few times she posts these days at HuffPost. I am so glad I found NoQuarter and the other sites mentioned here.

    • Judith

I left HuffPo when I noticed they were ganging up on AnninCA and using different forms of her moniker. She couldn’t make one single response without 10-15 foul-mouthed verbal attacks. Susan1968 is also here. I don’t know what happened to Teddy12…she was great, too. This is a great place to be!

  • ClydeSloppers

I am wondering if the Obama supporters are gonna be the new Hare Krishnas. You know always coming up to annoy you in public places as well as in your homes? Time to prepare!

I wish you guys truly did tolerate dissenting comments. I posted one sentence last night on the Michelle Obama/Cindy McCain thread… and it was “disappeared” within three minutes.

My sentence was not uncivil or nasty, it dealt with a relevant fact… and it was not tolerated at No Quarter.

Until I saw your “Statement on Standards” today, I had written off No Quarter as a closed society of true believers.

  • rrinchicago

    Racism at No Quarter?

    I am shocked, shocked.

  • http://hillaryorbust.blogspot.com Hillary or Bust

Thank you for removing that offensive post and publishing these standards here.

  • LAdem

Don’t tolerate racism? Then you’ve got A LOT of scrubbing to do … I’ve seen Obama referred to as a cockroach in truthteller’s latest piece.

Y’all oughta not tolerate outright lies, either. McCain has met with LGBT groups? LOL. Which ones? Where?

McCain is pro-environment? LOL. His “policies” will bring us to where we were under President Carter. I think we want to be much, much further along than that by 2016.

Y’all need to come on down to New Orleans, and we’ll show y’all just what John McCain wants to do, and what Barack Obama wants to do. As Al Gore stated tonight, we here in New Orleans know that elections matter, and change is needed.

If you want a lifetime of pain, vote McCain. If you want change, with the entire Democratic Party, Hillary Clinton included, then you oughta vote for Obama.

  • Loyal Democrat

I dare you to delete that quote!

  • ulahane

“If we include her thesis, may we include Cindy McCain’s drug addiction which led to her theft of drugs from her own foundation?”

Absolutely! As well as Sen. Obama’s admitted cocaine use and his refusal to release his FULL medical records. Anyone can claim to support a position, only their record and their character indicate what they will likely do.

  • StrawberrybitesBarky

Are you kidding me? Obama said he’ll bring a gun to a knife fight. From the Untouchables, bonehead. The Chicago way? Gangster not gangsta’. Damn, what are you some kind of racist? I’ll bet you thought Tinkie Winkie was gay just because he carried a bag, too.

  • Susan1968

    It’s the echo chamber effect.

Obama used it — we’re employing the same technique.

In a only TWO DAYS Obama lost his “bounce.”

He went from 6 points to only 3 points ahead of McCain which is well within the margin of error.

    Bad sign for BO, sweetie.

  • Susan1968

That particular quote is terrible however I do not see racism.

I see see an accusation of Obama doing drugs and being sexually promiscuous.

    Where’s the racism?

Or, are you caliming any neagtive thing said about Obama is racist because he’s AA.

Like, if I say I don’t like the sound of his voice — is that racist?

    Please clarify.

This seems to be the new memo to the collective this morning, Jeff. You do realize that you’re the 5 or sixth bot to use the EXACT same verbage this morning alone? Laughing stock, blah, blah, blah, crazy lunitic fringe, blah, blah, blah, lost credibility, blah, blah, blah… see we folks who use our brains to come up with our own arguments can spot canned ones a mile off. Besides if it were true that we were shouting in the rain, Larry wouldn’t have had to get more servers and that little sitemeter box to the right wouldn’t be looking more and more like the number of burgers served under McDonald’s Golden Arches.

  • beebop

And yet, Jeff, you deign to honor us with your presents of disdain. We must do something right. Since. Here you are. There isn’t a perfect free speech forum in the United States of which I am aware. Do you question the people at ABC, NYT, Wapo, HuffPo, etc. because some of the people who post there are just barely gripping the fringe? If you have a problem with the threads themselves, then please, feel free to debate. But your blanet statements are your opinion — to which you are entitled certainly but — not universal truths.
