The Young Turk Asks: Has Obama Sold Out?

Yes, yes he has. Here’s the video of TYT pondering this question in light of the recent “revelations” of Obama’s duplicity:

The question is asked, and answered. The answer is a resounding YES. Yes, Obama has sold out. Long before he ever ran for US Senate, too, I might add. But why quibble, right? At least it is finally starting to let a little light of truth filter through the Obama’s followers Kool Aide induced haze. Though attacking Republicans and blaming them for ALL of our woes is still fair game for TYT, with only peripheral acknowledgment that the Democrats are right there with the Republicans. Never mind that the Democrats have been in power for over two years now. Pesky details – who needs them?

I was like that, too, about the Republicans not so long ago, so I reckon I shouldn’t be too judgmental. Perhaps TYT will realize at some point in the near future that the Democrats are acting pretty much like everything many of us said we hated about the Republicans as we listened to Air America. For instance, remember how ballistic we all went when the Republicans threatened the “Nuclear Option”? We were livid that they would dare do something like that. And now look who, in just 6 short months of having a Super Majority, is threatening the very same thing, even if it means running over some of their own members with reckless abandon? Yep. That would be the Democrats. Oh, but only for the most expensive part of the health care plan – nothing to worry about there! Lalalalalala…

You know, it’s a shame these blowhards out there didn’t bother to do their JOBS and vet this guy, maybe taking a little look-see into who his donors were, for instance. Maybe if TYT had BOTHERED to do that, he would have seen that Obama got close to $1.5 MILLION dollars from the HMOs and Health Services. Surely TYT didn’t expect they gave him all that money for nothing, did he?

Nothing, actually, worse than nothing, is what WE will be getting as a result of these faux journalists and commentators not bothering to actually look behind the curtain of Obama’s rhetoric to see if there was any reason on this Green Earth to BELIEVE HIM!!!!!! For cryin’ out loud, already! Sheesh!

Heck, even investigative journalist Greg Palast, whose article I reported on the other day regarding the whopping 2% the Big Pharma MIGHT give up, as TYT reported above, threw all of his training away for Obama. Glad he’s regained some of it, but it is way too late for us/US now. We’re stuck with Obama for 3 1/2 more years, thank you all so very much for that. (That is sarcasm, in case anyone missed it.)

By the way, did you notice that TYT guy above still cannot quite get out the words that HE has been had? That he didn’t bother to look under the surface? Nope. Not one bit – he bought that stupid “Hope!” and “CHANGE!” crap all the way to Obama being in the White House. Thanks shitloads. Sure would have been nice if you had maybe asked some pertinent questions like, “Why does Obama have NO records available from his time in the IL Senate? How can that be?” Or, “Why DOES Obama have close ties to Tony Rezko/Bill Ayers/Jeremiah Wright/Khalid Rashidi (pick one)?” Or how about this one, “Why does everyone say he has made so much of himself from his “humble” beginnings when he went to the most prestigious school in all of Hawaii and his grandmother was the VP of the biggest bank in Hawaii?” Or maybe, “Isn’t it pretty sexist of Obama to say that Hillary Clinton was only going to tea parties whenever she went abroad as First Lady? Especially since we know she helped to foster some amazing programs?” Obviously, I could go on and on and on. Feel free to add your own.

The problem is, people like TYT and Greg Palast and just about EVERYONE at Huffington Post (since TYT mentioned it) DIDN’T ask questions like that. No, their questions were more like, “Gosh, isn’t it hard to tear yourself away from the mirror when you are SO good looking??” Blech. Or, “Just how much time do you spend practicing your three-pointer?” Or any number of insipid questions like the ones Charlie Gibson asked Obama (while hammering Sarah Palin, even using made-up concepts to try and make her look bad). Pathetic for alleged professionals to act that way, if you ask me.

As I mentioned to Kathleen (Wynne, of HCPBNow.org, who was kind enough to send me this video), most of our elected officials, by the time they are bought by special interests have been there a while. Obama was hardly in there for any time at all, which makes me think he CAME this way. Huh – maybe THAT was the “Change!” to which he was referring?

In any event, if TYT is right, and this is already a done deal, it doesn’t just speak to how badly Obama screwed over his followers, and the rest of us, but how screwed DEMOCRACY is. And that is the biggest problem of all…So, yeah, I would be up for a revolution, TYT, since you mentioned it. Anyone else?

Ok looks like Bill is mad at Obama and Hillary…LOL

Sorry I know a bit off topic but just couldn’t resist the irony of it all

Hurricane Bill is threatening Barack Obama’s vacation as it heads towards Martha’s Vineyard, after already cutting short Hillary Clnton’s holiday in Bermuda. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/northamerica/usa/barackobama/6069750/Hurricane-Bill-threatens-Barack-Obamas-vacation-in-Marthas-Vineyard.html

Damn straight we need a revolution, I don’t want blood shed either, I mean something like a tax strike, not another damn dime to DC until they stop stealing from us and give us NOTHING in return! Number 1 demand from me would be term limits, those people were never meant to be there for life!

  • Ferd Berfle

Number 1 demand from me would be term limits,

We have term limits–it’s called the ballot box.

  • trist

We have term limits–it’s called the ballot box.

It’s not enough when the incumbent has the seat bought and paid for. If it were merely enough to vote them out, then why term limits for Pres.?

  • jbjd

This is a technical question. When I played this video of TYT from NQ, across the bottom were ads from Google. There was one ad asking viewers who wanted to confirm BO’s birth to go to FightTheSmears.com. I clicked on that, and got to the FTS site, with that same copy of the COLB. But when I tried to screen save, the ad did not appear. So, I went to YouTube. But when I played the video from YouTube, only a health care question with BO’s picture appeared on the bottom of the screen. I was trying to capture the Google ad. How do I do that? And is it only running on the TYT video captured by NQ?

  • Ferd Berfle

If a politician’s constituents want that politician gone, no amount of money will change that. I stand by my comment.

  • Ferd Berfle

The term limit set in place for POTUS was via a Constitutional Amendment. The same thing would more than likely need to be done for Congressional term limits. Won’t happen. Again, use the ballot box.

  • foxx

When if ever are these idiots who think they are so smart going to GET IT. Obama was bought probably from age 2. They were conned and gamed by the powers that be. Because of their own arrogance (“I just KNOW he’s the right one, I don’t have to do any research”), ignorance about the way the world works (don’t know a con man when they see one), and their own willingness to be complicit in sexism, racism, and thuggery.

Let’s stop focussing on Obama. It’s the system behind him (an interlocking structure of corrupt entities) that is the problem.

We need a revolution. The problem is the politics of the dissidents are too diverse.

  • http://www.hillaryorbust.com Hillary or Bust

I saw that ad. What on earth is Obama doing buying ads on YouTube? Are these ads paid for with public tax dollars? Freakin’ creepy if you ask me.

  • trist

who said he had to buy it? last year google was shutting down many blogs on their servers which were unfavorable to the one…and they did it free of charge. they were also major donors of his as I recall.

  • oowawa

Watching this TYT guy has such a calming effect on me. All of those months before and after the election, we PUMAs were beside ourselves with rage as the MSM, with smugness and arrogance, mocked us and worshipped at Thee One’s altar: Hope! Change! Now some of the worshippers are beginning to wonder if they’ve been suckerized by a master manipulator . . .

    Who’s sorry now?
    Who’s sorry now?
    I’m glad that you’re sorry now . . .

Schadenfreude! It’s small satisfaction at this point, but it’s better than nothing . . .

  • trist

    Won’t happen.

Of course not, because the very people who would need to do it, are the ones it needs to be done to. Which is why it would take a revolution to bring it about.
McCain was in favor of it, but he was probably the only one.

  • sowsear

Not when the ballot box is stuffed, and there isn’t even a murmur about fixing voting abuses. The same bad that was there last time will probably still be there next time.

  • Peggy Sue

I for one am not looking forward to “a revolution.” It’s a term that’s thrown around much too easily without realizing, or perhaps, admitting the full meaning, extent and impact of the word–blood, death, unspeakable horror for everyone.

Someone [Diane, perhaps] said that what she wanted was “revelation.” I agree. To recognize what is going on, to work for change: right here, right now; to keep our voices and protest as loud and insistent as we possibly can; to refuse to back down or submit to the lies and excuses and ridiculous half-truths.

But true revolution? That’s when all options have been exhausted.

We push first. We scream, we yell. We work within the law, regardless of whether we feel it’s fair or not. We take up arms only, only as a last resort. Then and only then, when anything and everything has been explored and tried and the system’s oppression is either fight or die.

I respect many of your positions, Amy. But revolution is not a word to be thrown around carelessly. I’m a gun owner. I have a stash of ammunition.

But I do not want the day to come where I’m forced to use my gun or my bullets. Ever! Not in my worst, God awful nightmare.

Things are unsettled right now, infuriating. But revolution?

    Not even close.

  • Sally again

I agree revolution a damn strong word…be careful what you with for…you might get it.

THANKS RRRA. I liked your analysis and heart. I as long time “classical liberal” have seen this coming for years now…and I’m glad some of you from the so-called “left” do too. We’re Americans first. Partisans second. People can have fervently differing points of views on approaches but as long as they stand together united in loving the system that took us this far we’re considered patriots!

Those who hate our system (constituiton, bill of rights etc) are revolutionaries and must be disposed of by any means. I’m on the verge of believing Oboobi is one of them just like Ayers, kalidi, etc…what and see.

  • Sally again

    wait and see!

as a user of yahoo mail I can’t tell you how f’in sick I am of seeing “obama wants moms to go back to school” “obama wants you to refinance your mortgage” “obama wants you to switch from paper to plastic” ads running every time I open my mailbox. Okay maybe I made that last one up, but geez! I don’t give a rat’s ass what Obama wants. how about you ask me what I want. Like for him to admit cheating in the primaries and that he will step down for the good of the nation. While we have one left to be saved.

  • trist

ack! can someone check spammy don’t see the post I just did.

  • Ginger

RRR, He sold-out on so many levels on so many things and issues that if there was ever a real person there – that person is long gone.

  • CG

Thanks RRRAmy. I’m in favor of a non-violent revolution and a new third party. If Obama’s health care bill with the described concessions is passed with mandates and no real reform, I will, for the first time in my life, act out in public defiance by not subscribing to Obama’s wealthcare program.

The media has been getting it wrong for some time because they have prefered access to scrutiny and journalistic integrity, thus we invaded Iraq and we got Obama. There really isn’t any reason to trust anyone anymore, with the exception of you, and the NQ writers. Still if some these guys were still making excuses and continued to defend Obama, that would be worse than the soft back pedaling they are doing now, but not by a lot.

Here are two intelligent women offering their perspective on health care talking about whatever it is Obama or Congress is selling: Trudy Lieberman, director of the health and medical reporting program at the CUNY Graduate School of Journalism, and Dr. Marcia Angell, senior lecturer in social medicine at Harvard Medical School and former editor in chief of the New England Journal of Medicine.

    http://www.pbs.org/moyers/journal/07242009/watch.html

and then David Frum, who is calling on Republicans to come up with their own plan for health care reform and suggests changes that conservatives can support.

    http://www.pbs.org/moyers/journal/08142009/watch2.html

Thanks again RRRAmy, hope things are better. Are you noticing any storm winds, rip tides or water damage/beach erosion in SC? Keep safe.

While it’s encouraging to see that some of his most hooked Kool-Aid addicts are coming out of the haze of their addiction, I am depresses as hell that we’re in the mess we’re in.

I used to bemoan the fact that young people no longer study logic or have to undergo any rigorous academic programs. Our schools really do NOT teach thinking or reasoning skills. I started out believing the public school system was important because we needed educated voters, and we do need them. But they sure as heck aren’t coming out of the public schools.

I do not want revolution. It’s an awful thought. I want a leader to rise up. I don’t care if it’s from the Republican Party, the Democratic Party, a third party of any kind. But we need a leader who really understands what our constitution was all about, who is really a person of the people and for the people.

I thought I saw something like that in Hillary, and still do see it. But I just don’t see how this is something she could do at this point.

I wish for a country again that I can be proud of. I know, as McCain said, the fundamentals are in place: i.e., the hardworking mainstream people. I want my kids and my grandchildren to have a good country.

Re:TYT…I sort of feel sorry for the youngen’s. As old timers, we’ve seen all this before though I personally never thought I’d come to hate the Democratic Party more than I did in 1968. Traitors then. Traitors now. Poor little saps. They were just too arrogant to listen.

I think the time for a 3rd party is when you have two duds running against each other…such as Carter…and…btw who did run against him? Can’t afford to siphon off votes when we are so utterly polarized and divided. It’d be a shoo in for Bambi. Timing is everything. And it’s not now. We have to at least take back the congressional majority and retire Ms. Pelosi at least from the Speaker’s seat. Even with 0zer0 still in office, they can tie his hands and stop most of the most awful plans…just because…if for no other reason.

And revolution? Good God, No. It takes generations for the wounds to heal. And I want him to retire soon, live to a ripe old age, dreaming of what he could have been about rather than his crappy father (Get over it Bambi, he was a loser and no one to emulate, dream about or look up to in politics or anything else). It happens. I love my country too much for that destruction…unless it comes to the point that he has a 2nd term, forms his civilian army, and goes after us. Then, there’s no choice.

  • TeakWoodKite

It is the “BO logo”, shameful that he will not use the Presidential Seal is what should be on the placard. Disgusting

In my heart of hearts, I think that’s what all Americans want. The tragedy is what we’re seeing now: too many politicians serving their own self-interests. The double-talk is getting very irritating and the American people, left and right of center, are beginning to react.

That in itself is a good thing, as long as we keep it in check and work within the laws we claim to respect. But, the tenor of the conversations on the blogs and elsewhere are really starting to concern me. We need to keep our feet and heart and minds securely tethered in reason.

To do otherwise, we do at out own peril.

  • foxx

The problem is that the entire system has become corrupted with corporate money. There is no independent press anymore, there is no news. 95% of the politicians are bought, there is no chance they will do what is in the people’s interest.

So just how do you all propose that we change this?

I have had it with BO, and OFA, and the DNC, and APFC. And I am going to write all about it.

I’m conflicted about a Third Party, but I can see certain benefits to the formation of a Progressive Party, as TYT suggests. It would clear out all the riff-raff from the Democratic Party, pushing the Dems to the political center, which is where I’d like to see them.

With the Republicans on the right and the Progressives on the left, and with the Democratic Party cleansed of the radical left, many Independents and moderate Republicans could drift to the centrist Democratic Party. Actually, I’d rather they drop the Democratic Party name altogether, split into Progressives and Centrists.

Losing that name Democratic Party and its stupid jackass logo would make it easier for moderate Republicans and Independents to shift to the Centrists. Let the Progressives have the jackass logo. The Centrists should adopt a new one: the PUMA!

maybe the only way to get their attention is a “tax day revolution” if everyone witheld paying their taxes on april 15 and demonstrated with signs saying “no more of our tax dollars for crooks’ or ‘no taxation without representation”, maybe then we can get their attention. just something to think about.

  • Kathleen Wynne

How about a citizen’s “revelation” in finally making the connection between fair, honest, transparent elections and a “government of, for and by the people”. Based on the mountains of evidence compiled by election reform advocates over the past 6 years, this can only be achieved by counting the votes by hand, at the precinct, on election night out in the open, with citizen oversight of the entire counting process. No back room counting with the door closed and no machines counting our votes, period.

I sent this video clip to Rev. Amy pointing out to her that this “revelation” by The Young Turks shows what we in the election reform community have been saying for years — change can only come from the people taking back their elections, where we can oversee our votes being counted. Not from a politician promising us the world and a new pony!

If citizens want to take back their country, they have to first take back the only power they have to do that — their elections.

That’s the kind of change I can believe in, because it makes all the other changes we want and need, possible.

  • VinceP

The problem with Term Limits for Congress is that it increases the power of the people behind the scenes, as they , who are accountable to no one, become the experts of the process, and the new Congressmen would look to them for help in managing the affairs of politics.

This is my list of reform:

Here’s my list in order of priority:

    * Reinstate Bush tax cuts, cancel any tax hikes
    * Cancel any undisbursed Stimilus funds, with clawback requirements for money dispensed in last 6 months
    * If “health care / insurance / blah blah reform” has passed.. repeal it (I’m assuming any reform will be destructive due to the agenda of the current Majority)
    * Same thing regarding immigration
    * Immediately disband all “Community Volunteer” organizations that have any relationship with the Federal Govt., with clawback requirements for money since 2008
    * End all payments to Community Organizing organizations, with clawback requirements for money since 2008
    * Institute English as only language for Federal Govt
    * Bar all Govt Workers from being in an Union
    * Just as “Conduct Unbecoming of US Military” is actionable offense, “Violating / Not Heeding Oath to Defend Constitution” grounds for removal from office, action can be initiated by citizens by some means not subject to Govt official approval or veto.

    Constitutional Amendments:

    1. Repeal XVII Amendment (Popular Election of Senate)
    2. Repeal XVI Amendment (Income Tax)
    3. Repeal XIX Amendment (Just joking)

    New Amendment:
Establish Federal Judicial Review Supreme Court.

    * Justices must conform to Founding Father’s intention in Constitutional definitions
    * Justices must agree that the enumerated powers in Article I limit the powers of Congress to address any general clauses (ie: General Welfare clause is restrained by enumerated powers, not in addition to them)
    * Justices can use only Constitutional text, or any other writings of the signers of Declaration of Independence or Constitution. No other precedents are usable.
    * Any “novel idea” must be advocated by more than one Founder
    * No legal weight is to be given by implied authority
    * Any lower Federal or State Court that declares a law unconstitutional must have its decision affirmed or rejected by this Court
    * Courts, in the context of Judicial Review, may only declare actions unconstitutional. They shall not direct other branches of Govt to do anything more than what is already enacted law.

Government use of Private Property for Public Use

    * The Fifth Amendment shall be updated to read

from “…nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation”

to “nor shall private property or private income or privately held money be taken for public use, without just compensation”

    First Amendment Revision:

    * “Freedom of Religion does not include freedom to conspire to impose Sharia law in the United States or other forms of Non-Civil Law Systems, recognizing that in American tradition, basic human rights are a consequence of man being made in the image of Biblical Deity and permitted Free Will and Free Conscience by that Creator”

    and

    * Article II “Natural Born Citizen” clarified to mean one born of two US Citizen parents, regardless of place of birth provided both parents have x amount of years residency in the US”

I agree fixating on Obama is time wasted. He is the sock puppet; the stage managers and script writers are in the wings. Also, time to drop the left/right or Dem/Repub paradigm mindset altogether. It represents a convenient illusion.

Elites vs. the have-littles better describes our dilemma. And that yawning gap is evermore deep and wide. Craig Della Penna wrote on noquarter last week that about 6000 lords own, control and distribute the world’s resources. This is not a new concept but it does put the abstract within recognizable terms.

When theory and facts congeal, we find truth.
