Tom Delay: Obama Presidency Would Be a Big Gift for the GOP

“Their biggest weakness is Barack Obama.” In this video snippet, Tom Delay repeatedly calls Obama a Marxist. Talks about Obama’s membership in a church, compares it to his own membership in his church because HIS church “reflects” his “values.” Delay talks about “Black Liberation Theology,” calling it a “Marxist-humanist” faith.

“He’s going to have a very hard time running away from who he is.”

Yes, Tom.

We know that.

Would that the DNC got a clue.

There’s still time to nominate Hillary Clinton, a more formidable opponent to John McCain, particularly since she won the battleground states that John McCain’s campaign has now set his sights on.

There’s still time … wake up!

    I think that is misdirection.

This suggests they are not at all unhappy with Obama:

    http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0608/11099.html

The forthcoming volume from Stephen Mansfield, whose sympathetic “The Faith of George W. Bush” spent 15 weeks on the New York Times bestseller list in 2004, is titled “The Faith of Barack Obama.” Its tone ranges from gently critical to gushing, and the author defends Obama-and even his controversial former minister, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright-from conservative critics, and portrays him as a compelling figure for Christian voters.

    • Hope Floats

Tom Delay was unflinching in his assessment of Black Liberation Theology as “marxist, humanist doctrine.”

It is not Christianity. Obama might as well be a Scientologist.

      • Tyrione

The Founding Fathers were Humanists, Deists and Thank the Universe for it.

Barack Obama is not Humanist, nor a Scientist, Deist, et.al.

He’s leveraging these banners to appear to be a true Progressive in the vein of the Founders.

He would be a non-voice in the Continental Congress, even if the entire Congress were all Black.

        • Hope Floats

Humanism entails a commitment to the search for truth and morality through human means in support of human interests. In focusing on the capacity for self-determination, humanism rejects the validity of transcendental justifications, such as a dependence on belief without reason, the supernatural, or texts of allegedly divine origin. Humanists endorse universal morality based on the commonality of the human condition, suggesting that solutions to human social and cultural problems cannot be parochial.

Just saying. It sounds reasonable, but it is not religion. It may be a component of some religions but not Christianity. You can get all Vulcan-speak about it and “thank the Universe for it” but mainstream America, especially when the crazy sermons start airing in August, will think Obama is from another planet.

There are even more parallels between Obama and Bush. Both are similarily inexperienced, both did drugs in College, but stumble without a script and teleprompter and both claim to be uniters, but both turn out to be the direct opposite.

In fact, Obama would be a third Bush term.

      • http://deleted AnninCa

Similar control methods, too. Cut off the press, etc.

Lack of transparency. Don’t really reveal a plan. Pretend to delegate, but give no real power to others.

        • msindy

I believe both will abuse power in the same ways, as well.

I see a lot of similarities between Bush and Obama…

Although Tom Delay is an ass and I do not believe in his platform. He is absolutely right about Black Liberation Marxist Theology. It has been talked about many times in detail on this blog. My main concern (and those who have read any of my posts know this) is his embrace of Black Liberation Marxist Theology.

It’s over. Hillary won’t get the nomination; she won’t have her name on the ballot at the convention. She will be campaigning hard for Obama. Tomorrow she is holding a conference call with her major donors to raise money for Obama.

      That’s all folks!

      • Hope Floats

Is that really all? Go off and choke your chicken then.

This is what Black Liberation Theology about

“Black theology refuses to accept a god who is not identified totally with the goals of the black community. If God is not for us and against the white people, then he is a murderer, and we had better kill him. The task of the Black theology is to kill gods who do not belong to the black community….”

Thanks for putting that out there. One of the reasons Obama has such a problem with the Catholic vote is because the church has been fight marxist liberation theology for over 40 years since it started taking on in south america.

People think it is just the abortion issue but I know that in my parish it is both but the liberation theology issue is a real problem.

Of course, there are so many other reasons why I will not vote for him but I am just telling you what people in my parish feel about his embracement of this marxist theology.

Wow. I didn’t realize realchicken and Hillary were so tight. He obviously knows all about her, and she is giving him inside information. Funny, because party activists that I know, connected to all those “big donors” are refusing to budge unless Obama deals. Of course, for me, there is NO DEAL.

And then there’s that pesky electoral math that the youngin’s have absolutely no clue about. It’s going to be fun to watch them gasp in horror on election night.

Now go hurry up and get Obama elected and send some money to the new DNC, not the Obama campaign. Obama has already conceded Florida and Ohio and we haven’t even had the convention yet and he is conceding states for the general election?

        • NY still loves Hillary

I don’t think he’s smart enough to spell it.

    • Hope Floats

Neoconservatives were atheists. They used Straussian philosophy to bring the religious right on board in the Republican party. The neolibs and the neocons have “cultural marxism” in common.

    • Mr.Murder

As for Obama, if you wanted to be accurate on the adviser crew he’s selected, the historical mindset matches someone beyond the Marxist mindset, yet still the person is identified closely to their system of government and actually claimed to be legacy to the same ideas.

      Obama’s a Trotskyist.

Permanent Revolution. He calls it “Change” but their themes bear most of the same signature rhetoric.

See if the following Trotsky quote doesn’t match what we’re hearing heading to the convention:

None of us desires or is able to dispute the will of the Party. Clearly, the Party is always right…. We can only be right with and by the Party, for history has provided no other way of being in the right. The English have a saying, “My country, right or wrong,” whether it is in the right or in the wrong, it is my country. We have much better historical justification in saying whether it is right or wrong in certain individual concrete cases, it is my party…. And if the Party adopts a decision which one or other of us thinks unjust, he will say, just or unjust, it is my party, and I shall support the consequences of the decision to the end.

In fact, Trotsky did not think change was possible on a permanent basis in one country, for socialism to work it needed to be worldwide.

Bringing change to the whole world is probably a theme you will hear soon…

As for his exile years, he settled in Turkey first, where most of the White Army holdovers spilled into, before trying to work their way back after the iron curtain’s fall. This group of Lobbyists is no stranger to the Illinois Combine either.

Members of Turkey’s ruling class, working in concert with other intelligence apparatachiks to shape outcomes for venture backing deals involving energy firms and pipelines in the oil stans and Russia.

Fat Dennis Hastert’s buddies, many of the people Edmonds said were having undue word in determining America’s own intelligence matters through shared business interests. The Illinois Combine, certain for oil for food holdovers, suddenly these guys don’t look too different from the Houston outfit whose boss is telling Dubya what to do from the OVP.

As much as I hate to say it, much of what Delay says is true. And the way he frames the issue of his pastor and his church reflecting his values is excellent. I think that almost everyone feels the same about whatever religious or any other type of organization we put our consistent efforts into. And in Obama’s case, his cash too.

    • NY still loves Hillary

Did you ever think you’d see the day when Tom Delay was the voice of reason in this country? Maybe Hell has frozen over…

I guess the point is that if an idiot like Tom Delay can see the truth, why can’t you? Grow yourself a pair and admit the truth – your messiah is a sleeze, and in November he’s toast. The in about February he’ll have a nice orange jumpsuit.

        • StrawberrybitesBarky

Asshole, did you not see the sheer joy on Delay’s face when talking about Obama? If he wasn’t so drunk, he’d be doing cartwheels. Face it, dickheads like you helped to nominate a GOPs wetdream. Hope you’re proud of your tiny penised selves.

  • Joe Smith

It was a gift just to have been nominated. It has already done great harm to the DNC. The harm of the selection of BHO as the nominee has not been fully understood and probably will be to late to do anything about it once it becomes apparent.

    • jangles

IMPORTANT POST AT ANGLACHEL on the Obama coup/takeover of the DNC. She contends that this was not something that just happened in the two weeks since the end of the primaries (has it only been two weeks?). This takeover was planned weeks and months ago with DNC leadership involvement (Dean, Pelosi, Brazille). She lays out an excellent case for this. It looks like this very definitely was initiated at least by Super Tuesday and possibly has been in the works much longer. If you have had the feeling that the FIX for Obama was in, that no one at the DNC was listening—guess what, you were right because a plan was already in process for integrating the DNC with the Obama campaign and moving all operations to Chicago.

If only we had a free, intelligent and articulate press to investigate this hostile takeover. Why has the DNC been penniless and clueless? Have DNC contributions been funneled all along to Obama? Was the DNC funding him?

2.Kerry facing a serious challenge to his Senate seat
3.Richardson tanking with unfavorable ratings in New Mexico

It’s been in the works since summer of 2007 when Brazile changed the delegate allotment to benefit Obama and divised a way to stop MI & FL because they are Hillary wins. They also began the operation chaos/&crossover voting for the caucuses at that time. They got workers from craig’s list for $8/hr and they used move-on.org to do it. They had started to scope the scene back in 2004 believe it or not, but had actually set the scene the ball in motion in 2007-one year ago.
He was supposed to win Iowa and be crowned but Hillary stopped that. They were livid when she was hanging him out to dry. he was selected a year ago.
Sad part was that Hillary thought it would be a fair election. It got worse when Solis Doyle and Penn ran weak campaigns for a top candidate. Still believe they were paid off to get Hillary to lose. When they were fired Hillary began to win..

You people truly live in an alternate reality.

Where’s the money? Barack Obama has raised far more money than any other candidate: $272 million and counting, through April. And he did it mostly from small-dollar donations, not bundling by lobbyists and the ultra-rich. Hillary’s donors are getting behind him, as well.

        http://www.usatoday.com/news/politics/election2008/2008-06-12-fundraisers_N.htm

The polls? Last I heard, Obama was beating McCain nationwide–even after constant attacks from Hillary and the entire Republican Party– and contesting states that we haven’t won in 40 years (VA, anyone?)

        • catherine

Then let him pay for his own convention. Lets call it the Obama convention. The DNC has shut out voting democrats anyway. The DNC doesn’t need any money- They have Obama’s. No problem

          • Pat

I’m not sure that’s legal. But I trust that Obama’s campaign, which beat the vaunted Clinton fundraising machine, will be able to help the DNC raise the necessary funds.

            • StrawberrybitesBarky

Wow, were do they come up with these trolls? They keep getting fatter and dumber with each passing day. Delay and other republicans are cracking open bottles of bubbly over Barky. I don’t know what planet Pat is from, but the convention should be flush with cash considering we just had the worst president in the history of the planet for the last 7 years. Democrats should be lining up to get ito the place. So Pat explain to me, why in this historic year aren’t people lining up to go to what should have been the biggest political bash of the decade?

Obama is steppin’ all over the shit his chickens have left.

And why do they think this is a slip up? He didn’t say so. Ohhhh, I know, because it’s different than what he was campaigning on in the Primary. However, it is now resembling what two of his Foregin Policy Advisers have been advocating. Hmmmmmmmm

Ticker: Obama makes slip on Iraq query

“I emphasized to him how encouraged I was by the reductions in violence in Iraq, but also insisted that it is important for us to begin the process of withdrawing US troops, making clear that we have no interest in permanent bases in Iraq,” Obama told reporters upon landing in Michigan for a two-day swing through the state.

The Illinois senator misspoke when he argued that Zebari and “President Maliki” are concerned about Iraq’s sovereignty and are not seeking a long-term occupation by the United States. Jalal al-Talabani is the president of Iraq, Nouri al-Maliki is the prime minister.

“I gave [Zebari] an assurance that should we be elected, an Obama administration will make sure that we continue with the progress that’s been made in Iraq, that we won’t act precipitously,” said Obama.

    Serious issues.

    No thank you.

I cannot believe most of the commentators here are, or ever have been, Democrats. To bless Tom Delay who forced thru most of Bush’s worst legislation is beyond the pale for real Democrats. I’m sad that Clinton lost but good grief democratic policies are still light years better than republican. Do any of you understand McCain’s proposal to kill Group Insurance, that covers the vast, vast majority of under 65′s will leave all of us at the mercy of individual expensive and hard to impossible to get medical insurance.

Vote the Policies – that ultimately is what is important.

You can’t just say that Obama “will leave us at the mercy of our enemies” and then not specify what you mean. Political enemies? Terrorists? Specify who and how, and then we might be able to have a reasonable discussion.

So, conducting diplomacy as a substitute for endless war on infinite fronts (what McCain wants) is a threat to America? Trying to resolve issues peacefully and leaving war as a last resort leaves us “at the mercy of our enemies”?

Iran uses negotiation as a ploy with the West to buy them time, to keep real pressure off them, to provide a false sense of hope to those who fall for it.

Here are the words from Iran itself:

              http://corner.nationalreview.com/post/?q=MWYxOGRkYjNhZjZmYTRmMGYwYTNlZTNmYTViMjIwN2M=

The former spokesman of the President Mohammed Khatami’s government (1997-2005) acknowledges in a debate that a goal of the reformism was to lull the West into a false confidence so that Iran could pursue illicit nuclear activities:

Abdollah Ramezanzadeh, Khatami-era government spokesman, on a panel with Mehdi Faza’eli, general secretary of the Muslim Journalist Association: “We did our outmost to prevent the case of Iran being sent to the Security Council, whose judge is the United States…. During the confidence building-era, we entered the nuclear club, and despite the suspension [of uranium enrichment] we imported all the materials needed for our nuclear activities of the country…We were not subjected to sanctions regime during the reform era, but today, even our ophthalmologists are not allowed to import laser products [needed for operations]… If we pursue the right to nuclear energy for bombs, it is clear that the world does not want this, and if we want it for electricity, they say ‘you don’t have nuclear power plants, what do you want nuclear fuel for?’ Just take a look at what the Russians have done to us in the Bushehr nuclear power plant.

With the current speed of enrichment, it will take us 25 years before we reach enrichment self-sufficiency. And who knows where we want to find nuclear fuel? And our reserves are unknown… The solution is to prove to the entire world that we want the power plants for electricity. Afterwards, we can proceed with other activities… The peak of our goal is an honorable life for the people. Do we want to become another North Korea…?

There are only two ways of coming through the current crisis. One is what Khatami did by winning the election of 1997, and the other what [he did] after September 11th, which both guarded the country against war. Today, the solution is to marginalize the Ahmadinejad government from political decision-making in the nuclear energy field, with decisions be taken elsewhere.

As long as we were not subjected to sanctions, and during our negotiations we could import technology. We should have negotiated for so long, and benefited from the atmosphere of negotiations to the extent that we could import all the technology needed. The adversary wanted the negotiations to come to a dead end and initiate a new phase. But we wanted to continue negotiations until the U.S. would be gone from the circle of negotiations. We had one overt policy, which was one of negotiation and confidence building, and a covert policy, which was continuation of the activities

We consider access to all sciences and technologies of the humankind a necessity, but we also prioritize confidence building. Today, in the field of confidence building, Japan is the most advanced country in the world, but Japan can produce a nuclear bomb in less than a week…We achieved to divide the Europeans from the Americans, but today it has come to a point that the Europeans and the Ameicans have harmonized their policies.

Thanks to former Royal Danish Defence College analyst Ali Alfoneh for finding this story in his scan of the Iranian press and providing a pre-dawn translation.

Obama’s “judgement” is fatal , uninformed and suicidal

              • mimi

Frankly, this is where Obama scares me the most. Foreign Policy and Diplomacy.
The guy has had virtually no international exposure. Diplomacy is an art. It’s politics, it’s culture, it’s history all wrapped into custom and protocol. Quiet as it’s kept, this was W’s problem and why he chose the stand-offish posture. He tried to make it into ‘Cowboy Diplomacy’ but in reality he just was reluctant to expose his ignorance and lack of sophistication on the world stage. So chose to ride roughshod.

Obama is cut off a similar cloth and probably worse. He doesn’t even know enough to take the path of least resistance and stay the fuck out of these people’s faces. That’s because he sees himself as more polished and knowledgeable than he is. He feels sophisticated, but sophistication is more than just assuming an attitude, it’s based on actual knowledge and exposure and also preparedness.

In some ways, he’s more dangerous because he gives himself more credit. He, too, believes his ‘negritude,’ his African-ness gives him an edge. But that’s just cosmetic. An Obama president will be a novelty at first and then descend into the tribalism that plagues the continent and the Middle East. And as a Christian whose father was a Muslim, that’s not going to play well with these fundamentalists. (Go to http://www.savagepolitics.com for a great article on Obama the Apostate.)
It’s naïve of any head-of-state to think that openness is going to be the sole leverage in negotiating policy.

Ultimately, foreign leaders are protective about their positions, their country and the people they represent. Put egos into the mix and subterfuge and it definitely gets complicated.”

                • http://home.comcast.net/~vincep312 Vince P

Great points mimi.. Plus I want to add.. if Obama thinks his blackness is going to impress the Hitler of Iran then Obama may want to pause and consider why it is that Iran changed its name from Persia.

In 1933 the first Hitler came to power. The Islamists in Persia desperately wanted an alliance with Germany 1) so as to protect themselves against Britian and 2 ) Many aspects of Hitler’s program appealed to the Persians,, especially the Anti-semitism

So Persia changed its name to Iran (Ayran)

Direct from the Trinity website…the same church where nobama sat in the pews for 20 years…the bold emphases are mine…make of this what you will…

“We are a congregation which is Unashamedly Black and Unapologetically Christian… Our roots in the Black religious experience and tradition are deep, lasting and permanent. We are an African people, and remain “true to our native land,” the mother continent, the cradle of civilization. God has superintended our pilgrimage through the days of slavery, the days of segregation, and the long night of racism. It is God who gives us the strength and courage to continuously address injustice as a people, and as a congregation. We constantly affirm our trust in God through cultural expression of a Black worship service and ministries which address the Black Community.

The Pastor as well as the membership of Trinity United Church of Christ is committed to a 10-point Vision:

    A congregation committed to ADORATION.
    A congregation preaching SALVATION.
    A congregation actively seeking RECONCILIATION.
A congregation with a non-negotiable COMMITMENT TO AFRICA.
A congregation committed to BIBLICAL EDUCATION.
A congregation committed to CULTURAL EDUCATION.
A congregation committed to the HISTORICAL EDUCATION OF AFRICAN PEOPLE IN DIASPORA.
    A congregation committed to LIBERATION.
    A congregation committed to RESTORATION.
A congregation working towards ECONOMIC PARITY.”

    • Pat

So, what specifically do you disagree with in this theology? That sounds pretty positive to me. What is wrong with focusing on and wanting to help Africa, a place with far more problems than our own country, messed-up as it is? Are you also against reconciliation, adoration, economic parity, restoration, etc?

      • ulahane

“Restoration” is generally taken to mean reparations, a belief given credence by the ravings of Wright, Moss, and guest pastor Pfleger.

      • Zeke

I refuse to believe you are as ignorant as you pretend. To adolescently parse sentences in the face of obvious immoral, deceitful behavior is to tacitly accept and support it.

So, observe the behavior and intentions of the parties involved.

Determine for yourself if these attitudes and actions are moral, honest and approvable without using moral equivalence as an argument, and decide for yourself.

We have already done this and determined we love our country and know it needs us to protect it.

A key danger that Delay neglected to mention was the Foreign Policy consequences of an Obama win.

I been studying Islam closely since the embassy bombings in 1998. A majority of our enemies (the various Sunni groups, Shia Iran, Iran’s proxies, etc..) mean every word they say.

There is a consensus amongst them that goes back to our behavior during Vietnam and subsequently.

The consesus is.. that the West, and America specifically, have already peaked. Our culture, our civilization is too decadent.. to wealthy.. to COMFORTABLE.. to risk our comforts and do the war-related things that would be necessary to defend our interests , or prevent them from achieving the objectives of theirs which are dangerous to us.

They understand that we are still militarily dominant, however, they view us as having absolutely no will to use our weapons… and that if they prolong any conflict, divisions in the American home front will eventually result in our defeat.

All of the groups have this view of us… coupled with the belief that Allah is going to grant them victory in their war.. so they are doubly confident.

America electing Obama would be a sure signal to them that we have surrendered.

So while Delay theorizes what the political situation in America might be in 15 years.. I think he misses the key concern..

Will America be destroyed by an Islamic nuclear strike.

Will America do whatever it must to prevent it.

Certainly nobama will not be willing to defend us!

His VERY questionable associations, campaigning for his cousin in Kenya who wanted to institute Sharia law, his relationships with Ayers, his 20 + years of “spiritual mentorship” with the likes of God d*mn American Rev. Wright, the racist spouting Father Michael and so forth.

He wouldn’t even were an American flag pin or put his hand over his heart when pledging to the flag (at least he wouldn’t until it caught up with him)…how can I trust him to defend the United States of American against her enemies?

He will be inviting the Iranian powers to a tea party at the White House and saying “can’t we just all get along?”

      • WasLNbutNoBamaBotsKeepStealingMyName

please pardon the spelling errors in my post above…I get all riled up over this…after all, it’s my country and my children’s future that is at stake.

    • Pat

Vince, buddy, you really need to do some research and quit living in fear. I’m not sure exactly what you have been “studying” since 1998, but I think you might want to hit the books again.

What Islamic country could launch a nuclear strike to “destroy America”? Pakistan is the only Islamic country to possess nukes, and they do not have many–certainly not enough to “destroy America.” (Plus, their missiles are short-range and aimed at India.) But Russia and the USA are the only countries with enough nukes to destroy America (and the world, a few times over).

Maybe, god forbid, al Qaeda or other terrorists could sneak in a weapon due to our lax port security (enabled by Bush/McCain) and destroy NYC. That is a risk we face under any president, though I’m confident that Obama would do everything in his power to protect our homeland from such threats. But, while catastrophic, such an event would not mean the end of America.

Go hide in your fallout shelter and cling to your teddy bear. The rest of us will live our lives and work to elect Barack Obama our next president.

      • WasLNbutNoBamaBotsKeepStealingMyName

Oh I think you greatly underestimate the will of the Iranians to produce (and use) a nuclear weapon against the U.S.

Don’t think Iran is a serious threat? Take a look at this from the Council on Foreign Relations website:

        http://www.cfr.org/publication/8830

        • Pat

I’m not saying they’re not a threat, but that there is no way in HELL that they could ever “destroy America” with nukes, and if they ever tried to attack us, we have the capability to completely wipe out their country. They know it would be suicidal. Despite Ahmadinejad’s bizarre, insane rantings, the real power is held by the religious leaders, and they are not suicidal.

          • ulahane

The real threat from Iran is not a direct attack, but the fact that they are more than happy to fund terrorist organizations that will attack the U.S.

          • HRocks

Obama is planning to downsize the US Military to “help pay for the war”. What are we going to use to defend ourselves with, a minimal military, with a AA President who blames everything on Hillary. Oh yes, he did say he will side with Islam, didn’t he.

No need for a military since he’ll deliver American on a silver platter to Iran.

            • http://home.comcast.net/~vincep312 Vince P

Obama is planning to downsize the US Military to “help pay for the war”.

He’s going to downsize the military

He’s going to take nuclear missiles off “hair trigger alert” whatever that means

He’s going to pretend he’s in Superman IV and get rid of all the world’s nuclear weapons

He’s going to stop using Space for military purposes

He’s going to gut all spending on future weapon systems.

              This guy is a disaster.

          • mimi

            Pat,

You obviously don’t live in NYC.

After 9/11 my comfort zone diminished in direct proportion to the shock and disbelief that the terrorists pulled it off.

Seeing skyscrapers buidings crumble with your own eyes and walking shoulder-to-shoulder with the survivors covered in ashes changes your perspective.

Vince, buddy, you really need to do some research and quit living in fear.

Your attempt to find an emotional explanation for what I wrote is a sure indicator that you’re not intellectually equipped to evaluate what I wrote… and especially critique from any position of authority of facts.

I’m not sure exactly what you have been “studying” since 1998, but I think you might want to hit the books again.

Ok. Which books do you suggest?

What Islamic country could launch a nuclear strike to “destroy America”? Pakistan is the only Islamic country to possess nukes, and they do not have many–certainly not enough to “destroy America.” (Plus, their missiles are short-range and aimed at India.) But Russia and the USA are the only countries with enough nukes to destroy America (and the world, a few times over).

The preceding paragraph indicates that its writer has not analyzed the situation through the Muslim mind. His paradigm is very much Western.

This sort of analysis would make him attractive to the CIA or State Department. They have the conceit of thinking they know it all yet fail to even attempt to view the situation in the shoes of the Muslim world.

Go hide in your fallout shelter and cling to your teddy bear. The rest of us will live our lives and work to elect Barack Obama our next president.

More irrelevant emotional language laced with irrelevant partisanship… the sort of divisiveness our enemies are relying on.

        • Pat

I am no expert, but I make an effort to stay informed about the real situation rather than thinking I can interpret “the Muslim mind,” whatever that is. (Is it like the Borg hive-mind?) For starters, I recommend Prof. Juan Cole’s blog “Informed Comment.” He has studied the Middle East, South Asia, and the Arabic world for years and teaches at the University of Michigan.

You added to my questions with more questions, but you didn’t back up your assertion that “America [will] be destroyed by an Islamic nuclear strike.”

          • http://home.comcast.net/~vincep312 Vince P

            I recommend Prof. Juan Cole’s

That explains why you thought you were able to put me in my place. I’m sure you regard yourself as knowledgeable in this area… but the truth is not anything you’re going to get from biased Leftist Professors like Juan Cole.

You need deprogramming. Everything you learned about Islam is wrong… by design.

          • HRocks

I just listen to the GI’s that have returned from Iraq. BTW, they want McCain. A good way to get a fist in your mouth is to mention BO.

        • Zeke

Get this part straight d**khead….. You Are Our Enemy
Not John McCain, Howdy Doody or anyone else.
You. You collectively. Each and every one of you pre-programmed, Marxist cheats are our enemies.

        • Hope Floats

Maybe not destroy America, but look how devastating 9-11 was. New York is a major economic hub; that was the point of the attack on the WTC. What if New York got nuked? DC?

When New York gets nuked, it will be by a device carried on a small boat. Any powerboat in the 28′ range can carry the 1,000 kilos a 2nd generation bomb weighs. There are millions of them out there and just a few hundred coasties. N.Y. or DC are the most likely targets. In both cities, you can bring a small boat right into the heart of the city. The other good thing about using a ski boat or sport fisherman is that there will be no evidence left.

With a ground level land blast, the CSI types can do quite a bit with the rater and any structures that are left. With a sea explosion, the hole gets filled in rather quickly, which removes the evidence. So any President that wants revenge will have to use a randomizer to pick the target. Iran? Maybe, but why not North Korea? Pakistan?

The problem with nukes is that every time another nation develops them, the chance of finding the perpetrator of a nuclear suicide attack goes down while the chance of such an attack happening goes up. When the trend lines cross, a lot of people will die.

      • NY still loves Hillary

Where have you been since the fall of the Soviet Union? They don’t have control of many of their old nukes, and Russia has become a commercial entity. I’m quite sure selling to the highest bidder (bin Laden anyone?) isn’t out of the question. And I’d love to know exactly what Obama has ever said that would make you or anyone else believe he has the will or courage to defend this country! He has made it perfectly clear that he has no intention of fighting anyone except the Pakistanis (who we are not at war with). He is Bush all over again, without the public personna that will scare the rest of the world. They’ll only be laughing.

        • mimi

Oh I don’t know…. The Russians marched their artillery out in a grand parade in celebration of the newly elected Medyevev. Larry did a piece about it here.

Maybe the Russians want to get frisky again.

      • Teakwood

But, while catastrophic, such an event would not mean the end of America.

Are you for REAL? So you are saying maybe just a few nukes was ok for the Japanese people.

        You Pat, are nuts.

Go hide in your fallout shelter and cling to your teddy bear.

That is wackiest thing I have ever heard someone say.

  • Tommy

The obvious is finally hitting America…We choose certain churches to attend because we do agree with the doctrine/teaching or we wouldn’t attend…Quiet simple huh?

Obama remained in that church 20 yrs because he agreed or he would have left long before he was forced to. Obama has a freaking memory issue if he can’t remember ever talking to Wright about the doctrine and views the church has…And Obama claims McCain can’t remember things? “CHIT” McCain at least remembers we have 50 States not 57….

    • http://deleted AnninCa

He flipped us all with Wright. First of all, why are we talking about his religion. Democrats don’t like that style. He kept shoving it in our face, though. Couldn’t avoid it.

He’s still shoving it. Trying to start a religious movement for a politician among children? *yikes!*

That alone makes him completely unacceptable to me as a candidate for the presidency.

      Bad, bad no-no.

    • WasLNbutNoBamaBotsKeepStealingMyName

yes, you choose a church because it suits you and reflects your values…leaving it because you were forced to…we can see straight through that one.

Even nobama’s former pastor stated that he had talked with BO about the fact that one day, BO would have to distance himself from him and the church for political reasons. We all know it means nothing. He embraces Black Liberation Theology because he chose freely to sit in that church for over 20 years. It’s ludicrous to suggest anything else.

      • http://deleted AnninCa

And you don’t mess with people’s kids. That’s unacceptable.

  • Peggy Sue

The only problem with the video is Tom Delay is the last person in the world I’d want to tap for political analyses. Remember the Terry Shivo debacle, the whole Texas gerrymandering fiasco and the Delay “family” drawing government paychecks?

No, no, no. This is not a credible reference whether we agree with his Obama assessment or not. If the presumptive nominee were HRC, he’d be trashing her as well. In this case, the enemy of my enemy is not always my friend. Far from it.

Delay is whacked and as far right as Obama is far left. Maybe they’re kissing cousins somewhere in the universe, but for me? Both are equally toxic.

WOW! I haven’t stopped by here for quite awhile. Some months as a matter of fact. Did somebody else take over this site? Does Larry Johnson still blog here? I always liked reading his stuff. Real smart guy, I thought. Not so impressed with the things I’ve read today though. A lot of negativite vibes. Too bad. I used to just read the stories that were posted and didn’t really delve into the responses to much so maybe it always was this viscous and angry.
A lot of name calling sniping. How can anyone have a meaningful debate that way? Hmm, disappointing.

    • http://deleted AnninCa

Gee, Mary. Think the primaries might have something to do with the tone? LOL*

      • Seattle Moss

        Thanks AnninCa
I usually don’t get so upset with my writing, but when I think about how the Chicago/DNC is scheming to deny Hillary even a first vote with her delegates at the convention my blood pressure just goes through the roof.

        • http://deleted AnninCa

What’s going on is a travesty. Frankly, doing this before the convention is very poor political thinking to me. He’s just poking the snake.

I think this was in the works for awhile. The DNC is ineffectual, obviously. Dean has been in the can with Obama all along. They really are going to live with losing all of the voters. We’re the “eggs” you have to break to make an omelette. Their attitude leaks out daily and has for months.

You’re right to resent it. It’s an offense.

But I see the stupidity, too. No wonder a lot of SD’s are just not biting.

Amazing that he’s faring so poorly in the polls, too.

The people who were going to drink the kool-aid already have.

Weeks have passed. Tempers have not cooled. Pelosi, Dean, Kerry, Edwards were wrong. The 40% exit rate looks about right to me.

          That will mean he loses.

            Ann in Ca..
I think the anger is mushrooming.
My thoughts have always been middle of the road main stream.
What the DNC has done is right out of the Stalin play book. Everyone I know from the people I work with to my customers across these United States are petrified with fear of a Marxist takeover of our country
I think Obama’s support peaked Feb 19th and has been sliding ever since.
Just looking at that press conference with Dean with Durbin and others behind him said it all.

They had the look of a party going down.

I certainly will help in every way to make sure that happens!

  • Dan R.

I’m a confirmed Republican, but I regard Tom DeLay as one of the biggest shitheels on the face of the planet. He represents the intolerant, knuckle-dragging, sloped forehead, far right wing of the party that, thankfully, we finally seem to be moving away from with the nomination of center/right John McCain. I was in DeLay’s district when he was representing Sugarland, TX and trust me, he’s as dirty as they come. McCain can’t stand him. So, who gives a rat’s ass what he has to say?

EVEN IF IT IS THE WILL OF THE MAJORITY OF THE AMERICAN PEOPLE. OBAMA CAN STILL LEGALLY BECOME OUR PRESIDENT !!! READ ABOUT THE ELECTORAL COLLEGE !!!

Here is a scary thought. Obama, even if he doesn’t win enough electoral votes, can be “choosen” by the electors as our president. Just like what the DNC did.
      Read about the Electoral College.

After Election Day, on the first Monday after the second Wednesday in December, these electors assemble in their state capitals, cast their ballots, and officially select the next President of the United States. Legally, the electors may vote for someone other than the candidate for whom they were pledged to vote. This phenomenon is known as the “unfaithful” or “faithless” elector. Generally, this does not happen. Here are 2 sites to read about it

  • normita TX

Tom and fellow Republicans should get to work. Barackula is a sham.

    • doctorwang

I’m going to vote the way Tom Delay’s wife is going to vote: for Bob Barr!! From the Washington Times:

“Tom DeLay will vote for John McCain but the former House Republican leader said his wife, Christine, is planning to vote for Libertarian presidential nominee Bob Barr.

“I’m trying to convince my wife not to do that,” the Texas Republican told editors and reporters at The Washington Times on Friday. “She said it publicly yesterday.””

Why waste your vote on a Panamanian beer monger whose rapidly approaching senility? Vote for a TRUE fiscal conservative and federalist! Bob Barr!

      • Hope Floats

Don’t you fucking Paultards come here with your new loser Bob Barr. Throw your votes away on a protest vote, but we’re on a mission. Barack Obama must go down in flames this fall, or the Democratic party is lost to the people who built it. Any vote that isn’t for McCain is a vote for Obama.

        • doctorwang

A vote for McCain is a vote for the indefinite continuation of the failed war in Iraq, for the same failed economic policies of the Bush administration, and for a further reduction of our civil liberties. I can understand you not wanting to vote for Obama, but to vote for that two-faced liar McCain is a hundred times worse. I can envision him sitting in the oval office the first week after being sworn into office, with his finger on the red button, singing “Bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb Iran….”.
BTW, when the fuck did YOU build the Democratic party, you pompous ass?!

          • Hope Floats

I specifically left any mention of myself out of any party-building. I’ve never given the DNC a dime or volunteered for a campaign. The regular commenters are often longtime party activists or just Clinton supporters. I want the saboteurs of the Democratic party responsible for the outrages of this election to pay. You can’t understand shit. You can’t even grasp syntax. WTF is a “beer monger”? When was McCain telling Americans to drink Budweiser? Do you think they are being forced? If you can’t even explain that then you’re the one with some nerve telling me what to do with my vote, you Pamper-ed ass.

            • doctorwang

First of all, McCain is the one in need of Pampers (or Depends). You’ve already answered you own question as to what a beer monger is (you are somewhat slow, aren’t you?). No, John and Cindy haven’t forced anyone to drink Budweiser- they’ve just made it easier for our youth and Native Americans to become hopeless alcoholics. Much in the same way your local drug dealer hasn’t forced you to do cocaine, he’s just made it possible for you to become a crack-head. As far as your total lack of involvement concerning anything within the Democratic Party- then you should blame yourself FIRST and foremost for how things have turned out (& you should know that I blame you, too!). As penance, you need to vote for Barr in ’08. Have a nice day!

              • ulahane

ATTENTION: Get off the Humanist angle, unless you think Sir Thomas Paine, Ben Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, George Washington, James Madison, Patrick Henry, Samuel Adams and more are people you find repugnant as they were all Humanists.

Everytime I see a Republican mock Humanism I am reminded how Evangelically stunted the GOP has become. It’s Impotent at all facets.

    • Hope Floats

They were Deists, an Enlightenment fad. Humanism is a belief in mankind’s innate morality over supernatural phenomenon or the existence of a Creator. It is like marxism in that it espouses atheism.

Deism is the belief that there is a God that created the physical universe but does not interfere with it. It is related to a religious philosophy and movement that derives the existence and nature of God from reason. It takes no position on what God may do outside the universe. That is in contrast to fideism which is found in many forms of Christianity. Islamic and Judaic teachings hold that religion relies on revelation in sacred scriptures or the testimony of other people as well as reasoning. Deists often use the analogy of God as watchmaker.Deists believe that God’s greatest gift to humanity is not religion, but the ability to reason.

Wow- someone learned how to cut and paste text from Wikipedia. Can you chew gum and pick your nose at the same time?

        • Hope Floats

Hey Paultard or Barrtard or whatever fucking LP nutjob you’re shilling for this week. Was I right? Why yes I was. If I have to repost from Wiki to point out that Humanism is practically atheism and is not compatible with Christianity and that Deism as practiced by the founders was a completely different animal, then I’ll fucking post whatever I please. I dont have to respond thoughtfully to the barrage of idiocy you and your 15 YO douchebag friends spam on this site 24 – 7.

          • doctorwang

I am NOT interested in a nutjob from you…even for a shilling (are you from Liverpool?). And don’t worry, I’ve already realized that you don’t respond thoughtfully. BTW, are you suggesting that our country was founded on Deism and not Christianity? Does McCain believe this sacrilegious drivel, too?

“Were man impressed as fully and as strongly as he ought to be with the belief of a God, his moral life would be regulated by the force of that belief; he would stand in awe of God and of himself, and would not do the thing that could not be concealed from either. … This is Deism.” Thomas Paine

The Hammer on the front page? The facade that this is a pro Hillary site has completely fallen.

    • stodghie

yeah and obama wants to play footsie with the repubs and evangelicals? he wants to do the same thing the repubs did. your false outrage won’t wash here.

  • Perry Logan

Well, no one ever accused Tom DeLay of being too bright…

If Obama becomes President, he’s sure to rig the game against the Republicans, in the same way the Republicans tried to rig the game against us when they were in power.

Under the Bush regime, the Justice Department is currently prosecuting Democrats at a rate SIX TIMES that of Republicans. You can lose your job by trying to prosecute a Republican!

A crooked Democrat, like Obama, would of course reverse this, and the Justice Department would begin prosecuting Republicans–who are, in case you hadn’t noticed, crooked as hell.

So the sagacious and thoroughly corrupt ex-Congressman from Texas is dead wrong. President Obama would be crooked–so he would make damn sure no Republican ever got elected again. This may be the only silver lining to an Obama Presidency.

the church has been fight marxist liberation theology for over 40 years since it started taking on in south america.

Welllllll…the whole point of liberation theology in South America was to help poor people in SA withstand the murder, rape, pillaging, and torture committed on a regular basis by U.S.-backed “freedom fighters.” Some of these brave men and women included priests and nuns who were tortured and murdered for daring to think maybe these poor people needed a break. And the upper church hierarchy is notoriously reactionary.

Very different, in other words. And actually a good and brave thing.

I’m a Catholic and loyal to my church but I don’t dispute that it has some blind spots.

    • ulahane

I think the problem the Church rightly had with Central American liberation theology was that it changed the biblical message to achieve those otherwise laudable goals.

  • DancingOpossum

Good point, ulahane, yes. Bending scripture to any political ideology, always a problem.

Although I will note that the Catholic Church (aside from the wacko Opus Dei types) has never been as Bible-bound as the Protestant church. When I was in Catholic school we never “larned the Bible” and when a priest at my old church started a Bible discussion group it was regarded as a wild-eyed radical move. LOL…religion is funny.

But we’re getting OT here. I still find BO’s cuddling up to radical rightwing clerics deeply troubling, and his Jesus Camp should–but of course doesn’t–set off any alarms amongst his “progressive” followers.

Dancing is just spreading disinformation. Black Lib Theo. was conceived as a false-religious front for Latin American style communism/Marxism. In other words , the Marxists adapted the trappings of religion.. the ideology comes before the religion.

      They were the murderous thugs.

Folks…it will be an electoral landslide for John
McCain. Hilary would have won, period. I’m republican. The Democrats through backdoor crap have nominated the weakest candidate possible. He has terrorist friends, goes to a hateful bigoted church, he is elitest and has NEVER crossed the aisle. Hilary has worked with Republicans successful. This guy is an empty suit and truly frightening to me. Just think about this, “He launched his Ill State Senate race from a terrorists living room, Ayers. Ayers should be in jail. It is a disgrace.

If Tom Delay says it it must be true!

I think calling Obama or his church Marxist is an insult to Marx & Engels. Look at what they do, not what they say.
