The Illinois Combine II: The DNC Moves Into Chicago

How many ways has the DNC made it clear that Hillary Clinton aand her supporters are a distraction to a preordained coronation of Barack Obama? Here is yet another, even though the convention is 2 months away and no delegate has voted for the Democratic nominee. Move a hunk of the DNC to Chicago now, and rub it into 18 millions voters’ noses.

The larger question is why would anyone want to combine Obama and the DNC in a geographical area that is known for its corrupt politicians that mock everything we value in a democratic society? Did they think that the connection between Chicago and Obama’s looming background issues would go unnoticed?

The first “Combine” is an ugly story. The characters are men who make ill-gained treasures off teachers, hospitals, people already living in poverty, and whoever else they could fleece. John Kass’s interview with former Senator Peter Fitzgerald (who was driven out by political bosses after he attempted to clean up corruption) describes the Combine succinctly: “In the final analysis, The Combine’s allegiance is not to a party, but to their pocketbooks. They’re about making money off the taxpayers.” Fitzgerald continued, “I was trying to point out, to the media and to the public, what these guys were doing behind the scenes was bad. Sometimes I felt like Cassandra—destined to prophesy the truth and not be believed.” Kass concludes, “We are where we are, in The Combine state, and if you raise your head too high, The Combine will come along and chop you down.”

It wasn’t until the trial of Tony Rezko–Barack Obama’s fundraiser, house purchasing collaborator, and long-time friend–that the colorful players in the twisted, snarled, greedy world of Chicago corruption spilled out for all to see, including the now-convicted Rezko himself. See Chicago Tribune columnist John Kass’s column, “In Combine, cash is king, corruption is bipartisan.”

So now the next “combine”—a combination of Chicago and the DNC—rumbles into town to be taken over by the Obama campaign. Let’s watch to see what happens when the DNC as we all knew it is transformed. Will the pieces ever come together again in a way that instills pride in ALL Democrats?

Daniel “Danny” Solis is a Chicago politician who serves as the alderman for the 25th ward which includes the Lower West Side. He was appointed by Mayor Richard M. Daley in 1996. He is the brother of Patti Solis Doyle, Senator Hillary Clinton’s former campaign manager. Solis was a member of Clinton’s Illinois Steering Committee. [1]

Solis was appointed alderman in 1996 by Mayor Richard M. Daley.

Throughout his career as alderman, Solis has been an ally of Mayor Daley and in 2001 was appointed President Pro Tempore of the City Council, allowing him to oversee council proceedings in the mayor’s absence.

From the June 17 Chicago Sun Times about Patti Solis Doyle,

For tea leaf readers: The Solis Doyle appointment could be seen as a sign that Sen. Hillary Clinton is drifting down and out from Obama’s vice presidential short list. The minus is that perhaps Obama should not have sent this signal so soon, as he is busy wooing disgruntled Clinton supporters.

Doyle — the sister of Ald. Danny Solis (25th) — is close to Obama chief strategist David Axelrod, and the Obama trusted inner-circle is essentially a close-knit group of people who have known one another for years.

More information for those who might think Patti may have been a mole or agent provocateur inside the Hillary campaign. AT Nexis there are stories going back to 1996 linking (closely or not) bro’ and Axelrod

The fact is that Obama is part and parcel of that Chicago combine, which has had as it’s plan all along to take it’s penny ante game of corruption and fleecing the taxpayers of Chicago to the larger national stage, where the return for them becomes so much larger. Now they can fleece every state in the nation! And all the while telling us that Obama will be the antidote to all the “typical Washington politics as usual”. These people need to be stopped, and the only way to do that is with our VOTES. I, a lifelong Democrat, have never feared a candidate as much as I do Barack Obama. McCain CANNOT possibly be as bad as Obama and his thugs. I have to be willing to take that chance. The democratic party no longer exists for me..it is dead!!!

        • Amae

You are right. The thugs and corruption will also be rampant in the DNC. There is no way to fight it, except to change parties. I surely wish McCain were a better candidate. Does not matter. I am a disenfranchised and thoroughly disillusioned Democratic voter and I will not vote for BO and his Chicago mafia. Neither will I help the DNC.

Nothing Obama does really suprises me anymore. I guess if he is elected POTUS then he will just move the Whitehouse up there right after he changes the name of it.

      • AF catfish

        Nice. Worth the read.

So I called former U.S. Sen. Peter Fitzgerald, the Republican maverick from Illinois who tried to fight political corruption and paid for it. For this sin, he was driven out of Illinois politics by political bosses, by their spinners and media mouthpieces, who ridiculed him mercilessly.

Senator, what do you call that connection that Stuart Levine describes from the witness stand, you know that arrangement across party lines, with politically powerful men leveraging government to make money—what do you call it?

“What do you call that Illinois political class that’s not committed to any party, they simply want to make money off the taxpayers?” Fitzgerald said. “You know what to call them.”

        What?

“The Illinois Combine,” Fitzgerald said. “The bipartisan Illinois political combine. And all these guys being mentioned, they’re part of it.”

        Oh, yeah. The Combine.

IMPORTANT POST AT ANGLACHEL on the Obama coup/takeover of the DNC. She contends that this was not something that just happened in the two weeks since the end of the primaries (has it only been two weeks?). This takeover was planned weeks and months ago with DNC leadership involvement (Dean, Pelosi, Brazille). She lays out an excellent case for this. It looks like this very definitely was initiated at least by Super Tuesday and possibly has been in the works much longer. If you have had the feeling that the FIX for Obama was in, that no one at the DNC was listening—guess what, you were right because a plan was already in process for integrating the DNC with the Obama campaign and moving all operations to Chicago.

If only we had a free, intelligent and articulate press to investigate this hostile takeover. Why has the DNC been penniless and clueless? Have DNC contributions been funneled all along to Obama? Was the DNC funding him?

      • PamFlorida

This was planned, along with Obama’s nomination for POTUS, prior to 2004.
Obama was running for the Senate during the 2004 Dem. primaries/convention. He was invited to make a keynote speech at the convention- an honor reserved for distinguished Party leaders.
Never has a completely unknown, junior state senator or representative been accorded that honor.
The DNC knew Sen. Clinton would run- who better to run against her than a young, charismatic, AA. The candidates were both in a position to make history. They also knew that Sen. Clinton’s hands would be tied in terms of an aggressive campaign, because of the racial issue.
The plan for FL./MI. was put into place in 2007, when both states moved their primaries. FL. was manipulated by the Republicans and MI. was gamed by the Dem. state party.
If Americans knew what goes on behind the scenes in DC or in either party, they would throw all the bums out.

        • astonishedin Fla

Pam, you are completely right. Hillary didn’t have a bit of a chance. This was cooking since 2004. We are now starting to understand that this was Chicago mafia at work.

I think that letter written by Tony Rezko to the judge is interesting. Hmmmm… Could he be sending a message to someone?

Democrat must be a paid blogger. Mr. or Ms. Dem – the caucus voting was a farce, thats why he did well ther. The millions of people who voted for Hillary did it the honest fair way. It can’t be debated that those are good honest votes. The votes came anyway, watching the media, watching what the DNC was doing, watching the lies, reading and listening to spirted comments. Americans stood strong. The 80% thing that you keep refering to is a dream. There are millions and millions of people who went out to vote, got babysitters put gas in their car, made dinner late, got off work early, car pooled, took the kids with them… what ever it took they got there and they voted. They did this to send a statement of what they want America to be. We would have stayed home if she was not there, and we will go for McCain. He is a good choice. It is not her fault. This is the will of the people. Now the voices will show the strength by denouncing the DNC. Silencing Americans has not taken over YET. Hillary has told us to back barak and we will not.
The lives and saftey of millions and millions of people should not be handled this way.

I think all the good ladies and gentlemen that are elected democrats and still have any pride left in them should start to leave this party in mass.

Forget the trapping of office because the democrats that elected them to this position would understand, what is wrong is wrong, they should not all just sit there and grumble underneath their breaths, they should take a stand on principle if they still have any and open their mouths as to what is going on.

I have lost all faith in the democrat party, I just cant believe they are going to sit quietly and watch what is going on just waiting on Obama to give them some crumbs off of the table, that is really disgusting.

    • Democrat

About 80% of Democrats support Obama today, just under the 82% of Republicans who support McCain.

      • Molly

The numbers in your comment are not even close. Out of all the dems I know, I only know one who will vote for Obama. The Clinton Dems are now Republicans and they are also not taking polls anymore because it’s a waste of time to do anything that has to do with the DNC. I too have stopped taking the polls and I just moved over to McCain and started work on his campaign. I know many, many people have done that.
The DNC is falling apart and they don’t believe it yet. Time will show for sure. They will need to get VERY corupt to win now, and that is a scary thought.

      • Perry Logan

What’s sad is the Abramoff-style corruption of the GOP is just swinging wildly over to the DNC. People think the problem was the party, if we just replace a Repub with a Dem all our problems will be solved. No, it’s not like that.

    • Diana

I honestly believe or I guess I should say I hope the Republicans have been humbled. That they no longer think they’re just going to get the vote. They know they have to work for it. Especially after what happened in 2006. You would have thought after seeing what happened to the Republicans, the DNC would have said no way. We have to work for those votes. It’s “We the people. Not We the Republicans, or We the Democrats.” There or now 42 million registered Independents. 42 million and 1 with me. Those votes can no longer be ignored from either side. Or maybe we need to encourage more candidates to run as Independents that are willing to work for the people. Either way I agree, I don’t think it’s a simple task.

Unsubscribed from Al Gore’s e-mail list with the comment below when Gore e-mailed us a request for funds to support Obama……………

We have been loyal democrats for 50 years but WILL NOT support Obama, a candidate who is unprepared, inexperienced, dishonest, deeply entrenched in corrupt Chicago politics and has long associations with racists and those such as Louis Farakhan and his followers who wish to destroy our country.

Our hearts are broken, the Al Gore we supported has “sold his soul to the party” and is raising funds to promote a candidate he knows damn well should not be the democratic nominee for president.

We investigated Obama’s background and could not believe that democratic leadership would choose someone with Obama’s background as the primary candidate. As we listened to Obama campaign (and “attempt” to debate) it became even more apparent that he should not be the candidate.

Furthermore Obama did NOT win the primary election, it was manipulated by the DNC so that it appeared he did. Howard Dean’s ONLY accomplishment has been to expose the corrupt democratic party primary system. Shame on you AL!!

    • Faustina

I agree with your comments and have been a Hillary supporter. But what about Hillary? How can she go along with this?

I think that the decent and honorable politicians who are left should quit pussy-footing around and blow the whistle on this corruption….all of it…in both parties.

If these Democratic politicians think they are justified in supporting Obama, the puppet man, they need to spell out their reasons in detail. None of this change, hope hokey-pokey. None of this party unity nonsense.

As for Jimmy Carter, if he can go gallavanting around the world as an overseer of fair elections, then he better use his Nobel Prize influence to whip up some fair elections within the Democratic Party. His endorsement of Obama under the current circumstances will amount to pure, unmitigated hypocrisy.

I’m not sure if I should believe this AP article or not. Especially with their recent track record. Has anyone heard anything from Hillary as to her running as a VP for Obama? I got an email this morning from her but haven’t opened it yet. I honestly wish McCain would consider her. She was a Republican at one time. I know she’d be a hard sell for Conservatives…but so was he. Two people reaching across the table working for the American people. That’s my definition of uniting the country. Not the division Obama has already brought. Besides, I think she’d bring in more democrats than any “true” conservative he could nominate. It seems that the Democratic party we all loved is no more! From the looks of this, I believe this was in the works for some time. All the DNC needed was a Sock Puppet to use as their figurehead! If you believe this is JUST Obama’s doing, think again!
They have wanted to do this for some time. They took their cues from the Repugnicans and after 9-11 the world we lived in was never going to be the same. It was the Bush Administration that showed the Democrats what the possibilities of power were! When Pelosi refused to impeach Bush, I knew the fix was in then. Bush knows he screwed this country as no president has EVER done. The democratic fat cats saw the door opened and they never looked back.
That is the reason they were so gung ho on Obama. they could mold him into what they wanted. The fool is like PlayDo!

Interesting. My parents are/were lifelong Democrats and union members. My dad passed away. My mom is a lifelong feminist who is now 80. She and I are supporting the candidate who thinks that women have the right to control their own bodies and to make reproductive decisions. My mom says that she can’t do anything that would leave her granddaughters’ and daughters’ reproductive rights in danger.

She and I are supporting the candidate who supports people’s rights to organize unions, who wants regulations on the drug industry, who believes in getting more people health care. She and I are supporting the candidate that will bring our troops home and will back away from policies that are hurting our national security.

      We support Senator Barack Obama.

Dig a little deeper and you’ll see that obama has flip-flopped all over the place on his “positions”…

the nobama camp is using the Roe vs. Wade argument as the sword of Damocles over women’s heads if we don’t vote for him.

How about this…your obama was out campaigning for his cousin in Kenya who wanted to institute Sharia law into his country…

think twice before you vote this man into office.

Women under burqa in Kenya. Wow, and Obama campaigned for his cousin. Sounds like the man really thinks about women’s rights, and oh, by the way, if he does institute Sharia law in Kenya, those women would be put to death for even muttering the word abortion.

          • Mary Kay

Of course. It’s not as straightforward as it’s being made out to be by the democrats. This isn’t 30 years ago. Women have a lot more to consider not than should they or should they not keep a baby. There’s AIDS, etc, and we need to look at that law and look at how we’re educating young women as well. I was very impressed with John McCain’s response on the town hall this weekend when he said while he disagrees with R V Wade, he thinks it’s time the country sits down and has a real discussion about it.

My problem with Obama is that he tries to stereotype everyone who does not seem to agree with him. To me, this just doesn’t seem like a man who is willig to sit down and discuss much, and his actions (and associations) don’t seem to match his words.

            • Mary Kay

Sorry about the typos. I didn’t proof.

That is just the thing. I am not a proponent of abortions either. What I am a proponent of is getting some solutions in place that minimize the need for abortions. The same goes for affirmative action, welfare, minimum wage, income disparity between sexes and races, etc. Solutions are what we need and Democrats like Republicans are not into solutions. They are into money, power and control.

I am a lifelong feminist who has been in the trenches. I’ve done clinic escorting when it was very dangerous, I’ve testified at hearings at my state legislature, I’ve lobbied for equality, I’ve worked for choice, gay rights, ending domestic violence, ending racism, etc. etc. for decades. I can tell you that I am never going to “fall in line.” There are some things that are worth fighting for and this is one of those times. The DNC violated our rights with this mockery of a primary season. They are flaunting their power and their agenda in our faces. Some things transcend single issues – I think safeguarding Democracy transcends everything. If we no longer have the right to choose the candidate we want with our vote, then we have lost all choice.
I’m voting McCain this November unless Hillary receives the nomination in Denver. Otherwise my vote will become meaningless.

      • Democrat

Oh, and my mom voted for Clinton in the primary. I supported Clinton at first but switched to Obama and voted for him in the primary.

        • Mary Kay

Funny. :.) I voted for Obama and switched to Clinton. ;.)

Have a nice night. I’m off to another site.

      • Molly

McCain is the only way to go, now that the DNC is clearly so corupt that they will ignore 18,000,000 (eighteen million) voices. Many of whom are women. Oh no, they decided they will pick our President. That doesn’t work for me. NO WAY!!!!
Susan B. Anthony said in 1872. No self respecting woman should wish or work for the success of a party that ignores her.

Now it’s Obama talking about how he’s restoring the MI votes. LOL*

He’s one BS artist, for sure.

          • Democrat

It’s not BS. They will be seated fully. And it didn’t matter to the outcome that they weren’t. He would have had most of the pledged delegates regardless. You can see the numbers on that in the link I posted below.

            • http://deleted AnninCa

It’s BS because it is meaningless. People aren’t stupid.

            • Mary Kay

But neither had the “magic number,” so by the rules, this should have gone to the first ballot at the convention. They should have both been able to make their case and the supers would have decided on secret ballot. That’s the process.

              • http://deleted AnninCa

yup……he nominated himself. Now he’s being a bully to prove he won?

                *blech*

Every day the news gets worse.

              • Democrat

The supers don’t decide on secret ballot. They never have in the past.

              • sleepy

The “process” is that superdelegates can declare themselves for anyone at any time.

That’s why Hillary started off her campaign with several hundred supers already declared for her.

Did you see anything wrong, suspect, or crooked with that? No.

Thank you for Al Gore for reminding us of the incredible damage the Republicans have done to our country and that McCain would continue.

Yes, elections DO matter…thank you for reminding us of the obvious. Why do you think we won’t support nobma…no way, no how…

      • Democrat

Elections matter was the mantra in Al Gore’s speech. He gave lots and lots of examples of how much it mattered to vote for Obama over McCain, you know, in areas that actually affect people’s lives — health care, environment, economy, war, safety.

        • sleepy

Issues don’t matter to this small minority of Clinton supporters. The only thing that matters to them is Hillary Clinton.

          • http://OTliesvideo Lyn

It has nothing to do with Hillary (altho I think she would be the best) it has to do with Obama and his friends Ayers, Wright, Dorhn, Rezko, Auchi, Odingo ect. Hillary was my first choice, but McCain is my 2nd.

Obama has flip flopped on the war so many times he’s motion sick. He gave one inconsequential speech in a liberal district in Chicago before he ever ran for national office. Since then? Nothing. Voted for funding, said ‘his position wasn’t that different from George Bush’ and his advisor Samantha Powers said he would not be held to a plan crafted while he was a candidate for President (paraphrasing).

Health care? A plan that leaves 27 million uncovered is not a plan, its smoke and mirrors.

Environment? BO voted FOR Cheney’s energy bill. Even McCain didn’t vote for that giveaway to the most profitable entities the world has EVER known.

Economy? Does anybody seriously believe that Barack Obama is any more suited to deal with our economic problems than John McCain. Hell, neither of them has a clue. Quite frankly, we are in for such a wild, horrific economic ride…nobody, not even Clinton, would be able to pull us out of it. (Though she would definitely be better at making the ride less terrifying.)

Al Gore is a nice man who means well…but that is all.

Just got this action alert from Clinton Dems:

    Dear Clinton Dem,

As you may know, Clinton Democrats, is part of a larger coalition of millions of voters that will not support Barack Obama in the fall election.

One of the primary reasons is that we believe the DNC party and their Rules and Bylaws committee acted in bad faith against the American people in their disinfranchisement of Michigan and Florida, severely crippling our chances in November.  They had an opportunity to hold revotes, and leadership could have acted to resolve this situation, thereby legitimizing the process. Instead, they chose hide behind “rules” then subsequently break them to advantage their preferred candidate, Barack Obama.

In a historically close race between two exciting candidates, Howard Dean, Nancy Pelosi, and Donna Brazile and others overtly chose sides, and actively worked to drive Hillary Clinton from the race, a move unprecedented in history.

It is time to give a wakeup call to the DNC that we expect them to uphold democratic principles and listen to the voters if they expect to be a viable party in the future.

Our coalition of organizations, http://justsaynodeal.com, has put together a letter that they would like you to send to Howard Dean tonight or tomorrow morning by fax or email. Just select the text, copy and paste it into your email program or print out the MS WORD version and fax it. Remember to change your name at the bottom before sending.

    http://clintondems.com/Attachments/Dean_Letter.html

    http://clintondems.com/Attachments/Dean_Letter.doc

He will will receive the same letter from thousands of people from all over the country within a 24 hour window. This will show him that we are serious, and ORGANIZED.

    Howard Dean’s email address:

    Contact Howard Dean:

    • Democrat

There’s one big factual problem with that letter.

And it’s that no matter how many delegates FL and MI could have gotten, Obama would have ended up with the majority of pledged delegates, and that’s what the supers cared about. Even if they hadn’t been docked, Obama would have had the majority.

      See FL/MI scenarios: http://www.demconwatchblog.com/2008/05/fl-mi-by-numbers_21.html

Stop harping on the majority of pledged delegates.
That is not and has never been the standard for choosing the nominee.
Neither candidate has the “magic number” needed o clinch.
Superdelegates can only endorse, not vote, until the convention.
Repeating the same lie over and over does not change facts.
        Stop it.

        • wac for hillary

That’s all they have in the way of an argument as to why Obama should be the nominee. He’s not the most experienced; he changes his positions like he changes his socks (I’m assuming he doesn’t wear the same pair all the time). His thug brigade helped him win caucuses in States that will never go Democratic and helped him spread the lie that the Clintons are racists.

I will happily vote for McCain instead of wasting my vote on that arrogant empty suit.

      • AF catfish

Odd then, that they bothered to piss everybody off and make Obama look like an illegitimate nominee when he would have won anyway. Odd they chose to take delegates from Hillary and give them to Obama if he would have won anyway.

So the Rules and Bylaws Committe really screwed Obama by making him look like a crook, when he would have won anyway. The RBC sure doesn’t like Obama.

    • BluDawg

      Fax it if possible.

      They can simply delete emails.

Howard Dean, Nancy Pelosi, and Donna Brazile and others overtly chose sides, and actively worked to drive Hillary Clinton from the race, a move unprecedented in history.

      Unprecedented?

Hardly. Primary fights and intraparty power struggles have been going on ever since there were political parties.

      • Jim (Victim of Obama Crony Identity Theft)

So you’re saying it’s all good? Nice.

      WasLN,

Thanks for the link with the letter to Dean, which I have sent, adding a personalized paragraph or two at the end with my intention to write in Sen Clinton’s name in November here in NJ. That will be how I exercise my protest as a formerly loyal Dem. I can’t vote for McCain and I do not wish my vote to be mixed in with pro-McCain voters anyway. My husband is exercising his protest by staying home on election day and I told Dr. Dean that, too.

  • jangles

The DNC leadership may or may not be in charge of the Obama coup. I think they have been had by the Chicago combine. The Democratic Party definitely has been had. The alleged inability of the DNC to raise funds I believe is a fraud. I believe money for the DNC was diverted to fund Obama. I think time will reveal that this orchestration began in Chicago in 2006-07 and is a giant pincer move bringing the Chicago Combine, MA machine, SF/Pelosi machine in a huge move to wrest any and all Clinton control from the Democratic party; to scrub the party clear of their influence and ensure the changes stick by physically moving the control center, placing all control in Obama’s hands. Basically, the word is, we have taken over, you are out, you do not have any of the keys, take your supporters, leave, start your own party if you dare. Hillary playing the unity pony is just playing into her own death warrant.

    • WasLNbutNoBamaBotsKeepStealingMyName

I just watched the new video and thought it was an excellent indictment of Barack Obama (and, by extension, all those who’ve “endorsed” him and heaved him closer to the finish line).

The part I loved the most, though, was the excerpt from the sitcom 30 Rock, with Tina Fey’s character (Liz Lemon), admitting to her former boyfrend that, although she’d tell all her friends she was voting for Barack Obama, she’d secretly vote for McCain in November!

I love Tina Fey: she’s funny and smart as hell.

      • street_parade

Love her. I always tell people I’m just going to sit this one out. But this confuses them, since I’m a lefty Democrat. I’m not sure yet, if I’ll be able to vote Republican..I never have. But I have a sixth sense about sociopaths – I spotted Bush in a second and BO is another Bush, they are brothers under the skin.

I don’t know if we will survive another one. In all honesty, this country hasn’t really survived Bush, we’re just going through the motions now. I think that is why BO is where he is, there is no other reason.

        • Nicole

Yes, I’d agree with you about that…which is why it’s important to prevent an O presidency.

  • Krissy

I never knew how bad the political word was, I now know though, that Americans have been under a false impression that we pick our Presidents through voting. Even as far as sending this message to the world that we are a democracy and we are fair, thats why we vote. This is not true, it’s a terrible joke. Just a terrible Joke. The Government picks our President and the corupt Government does it, and it’s the Corupt Government who pushes to get the most corupt President they can. That is why after over 18 million votes, they don’t want Hillary in. It is clear that She is the best choice and they are afraid they wont be able to control the President like they will Obama. While America tells the world that we are voting and we are a democracy. This is a lie and the world should know. Oh well, I think they aleady do. I just wish the DNC would be embarassed enough to fix it.
I’m just going to vote for McCain.
I think McCain will be good. I just wish Hillary could have been our President. Me and 18 other million people.

    • ginaswo still says no to Uhhbama

and 18 million is just the die hard party members that come out in primaries, most Americans dont think about it yet it seems, so if the most passionate “party” members, are the primary voters, which makes sense, then the fact that 40% of PRIMARY voters, (the strongest identifiers as Dems within the party) will not vote for him according to those exit polls in WVA KY PA OH it is just clear they cant win playing fair in the GE, I think the GOP better watch their axx for cheating by Uhhbama campaign and the new GOP lite we used to call the DNC

think of the MILLIONS who would have come out for Hill in the GE, the voters who dont vote i primaries, honestly this is the first primary I voted in, I usually get involved after the convention…

      • Democrat

Most of those 18 million — at least 80% — aren’t voting for a Republican.

    From Hillbuzz:

Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) started moving into his “permanent” 33,000-square foot national campaign headquarters on the 11th floor of 233 N. Michigan in downtown Chicago on March 30, 2007.

By July 2007, the Obama campaign had expanded into a second location on the 10th floor of 300 W. Adams that was to be “used as a home for volunteers and Illinois field operations, freeing up space in the main headquarters.”

Don’t go looking for Obama’s “new politics” here. Without recounting the details, many of which can be found in this June 2007 article, suffice it to say that Obama’s campaign headquarters was staffed by “about 100 employees in Chicago alone, part of a national staff [then] totaling roughly 200″, including “key veterans of the 2004 John Kerry campaign as well as a co-founder of the social networking Web site Facebook.”

Keep in mind, Sen. Obama had barely announced his bid for the presidency in February, not a single debate had been held, not a single caucus or primary vote cast, and already the Obama campaign had expanded operations along downtown Chicago’s prime real estate.

Today’s issue? Well, inquiring minds like RW and the head blogger at Anglachel’s Journal would like to know when the plan was approved to move the DNC’s operations and merge it with that of the Obama headquarters in Chicago.

If the DNC has already relocated to Chicago, as reported by the commenter Molly in the Hillary Clinton Forum, then the plan to move was approved months ago.

I’ve been involved in the merger of two good sized US corporations. It’s not something that can be done at the drop of a hat. Costs have to be scoped, budgets established, plans made, landlords current and prospective contacted, vendors hired, bills paid, accounts closed in DC and opened in Chicago, equipment purchased, staff relocated, reassigned and/or terminated, letterhead and business cards printed, signage created, phone service changed, and that’s just the stuff off the top of my head.

I’m not buying the claim that it was a recent decision, quickly executed. Who knew about the merger and when did they know it what remains to be unearthed. Not a word of this was out in the blogs or in the news before this week thatI am aware of. How did such a major logistical operation remain under wraps?

This observation is spot on. What major corporation would make such a move without detailed advance preparations?

Anglachel’s Journal nails the issue on its pointy little head:

Over the last few months I have tried to express my concerns for what the Obama campaign is doing to the Democratic Party. While I am a dyed in the wool Hillary supporter, my objections to what Dean, Pelosi, Reid, Kennedy, Obama, et. al., are doing to the party are swiftly growing larger than whether or not Hillary was treated fairly in the campaign or even whether she was cheated out of the nomination. We are talking about a hostile takeover of the party.

    http://hillbuzz.blogspot.com/2008/06/obama-began-preparations-back-in-2007.html

    • WasLNbutNoBamaBotsKeepStealingMyName

      Yes, this is spot on!

    • Democrat

Well, the race was over in early March when it was clear that Obama would win the majority of pledged delegates. The supers would have never overturned the pledged delegates, they have said that in lots of interviews.

Clinton had every right to continue after she couldn’t win the majority of pledged delegates, but it was too bad that she gave people the impression that she could get the superdelegates to overturn the pledged delegates because it was never going to happen.

      • bonita

      • AF catfish

Obama had not clinched the nomination in March. YOu need 2209 delegates to clinch and the race was (and techincally is) anyone’s to take at that point.

        • Democrat

No, it really wasn’t. There was no mathematical way for Clinton to get a majority of pledged delegates by then. And supers were not going to overturn the pledged delegates. I know Clinton told you that they might; it’s too bad that she pushed that at her supporters because it only set a lot of folks up for disappointment and heartbreak.

          • wac for hillary

            Obama math again?

          • AF catfish

Majority means bupkiss you need all 2209 to clinch.

And at that point she needed to win 60% of all remaining delegates to finish the primaries with more pledged delegates than him. Which was possible, not easy, but possible.

I left a msg for the “chairman” at the DNC today telling him their actions are losing support. As a former supporter and as of last week becoming an Independent, more and more are turning away. But I suspect that will go ignored as well.

    Great point HARP!
I’m telling you, I do not believe this was all done over night! I believe this was in the works for some time! As I said, as soon as they had the “SOCK PUPPET” or the clay they could mold, the plan was put into effect. Hillary would have NEVER stood by and allowed this hijacking! That is one reason why I believe she fought so hard,( Among many other reasons) i believe she caught wind of this and tried to stop it before it happened. I’m wondering about Solis now too! She held a very trusted and HIGH position in Hillary’s camp. Who better to sabotage her campaign but Her! Remember that she has known Axelrod for over 25 years and her brother is an alderman here in chicago. I really am begining to believe something else went down in Hillary’s camp and they HAD to get rid of her! Or at least minimize what damage she could do.!
i will be looking into this angle myself. I think there is a story to be told there.

Off topic, but can anyone recall the link for an article about how BO might have got the Harvard Review gig, never wrote anything and even with that on his resume, never got a job as a clerk with a federal judge…went back with the Harvard credentials to work as a community organizer? I read it in the past week? Thanks.

    • Kevin

My wife, who is an attorney, explained it to me. Harvard Law was under pressure to increase the profile of aa and other minorities on the Law
Review. I don’t have details or links, (or tapes for the trolls) but that is the buzz in the legal community here in boston. Probably worth digging into.

    • Democrat

He turned down a federal clerkship. All of that is well documented. The judge he was going to work for discussed this in an op-ed back in February.

      • Helen S

BO was NOT EVER offered a Clerk Job to any judge. He became president of the Harvard Law Review because there had never been an AA president It was a length procedure because there was much ambivilance on the part of the 80 member selection committee.

The larger question is why would anyone want to combine Obama and the DNC in a geographical area that is known for its corrupt politicians that mock everything we value in a democratic society

Describes Washington, DC, to a T. So what’s the big deal?

How bad can McCain be — DNC wanted John McCain to run as Kerry’s VP in 2004:

    [snip]

..some prominent Democrats are angling for him to run for vice president alongside Senator John Kerry of Massachusetts, creating a bipartisan ticket that they say would instantly transform the presidential race.

The enthusiasm of Democrats for Mr. McCain, an Arizona Republican, is so high that even some who have been mentioned as possible Kerry running mates — including Senator Bill Nelson of Florida and Bob Kerrey, the former Nebraska senator — are spinning scenarios about a ”unity government,” effectively giving Mr. Kerry a green light to reach across the political aisle and extend an offer.

…Chris Lehane, a Democratic strategist who once worked for Mr. Kerry, said such a ticket ”would be the political equivalent of the Yankees signing A-Rod,” referring to Alex Rodriguez, the team’s star third baseman.

    Another Great Cartoon, Pat.

As a life-long Democratic activist, I’m so upset with the Dean Party takeover of the DNC. Ob is showing his “Change” and “Judgment” again by taking the DNC to Chicago, the most corrupt state government in the United States. “Pay-to-Play” as US Atty Fitzgerald calls the Operations Board Games, is now running the DNC in Chicago.

As Don King says “Only in America”.

This reminds me of McGovern talking about the Watergate break-in prior to the 1972 election. It didn’t stop the voters from electing Nixon to his second term, but brought him down after the election.
This is what we are about to see again with the Rezko and other corruption charges of others that Fitzgerald is working on now will show us the Illinois Combine’s dirty insides, and if Ob is elected, it will bring him down also.

Since 2003, tearing down what he views as the “fascist” tyranny of the United States, as he has put it, is “the central focus of my life.” and after the 2004 election, MoveOn.org’s billionaire, George Soros said of the Democratic Party, “Now it’s our party. We Bought It, We Own It, and We’re Going To Take It Back.” Having already “bought” the party, Soros wanted the Democrats to pick someone who will allow him to act as its absentee owner. (he got his wish) He wants to place the party formally under the control of the Shadow Party. “I want my ideas to be heard” Soros stated. God Help Us….We’ll Need It.

Great cartoon! One picture is worth a thousand words. One good picture can open up peoples minds in ways that words often fail. I am proud to know that there are Democrats who are willing to state truths that others are even afraid to think of. Still others may have thought of these truths, but were afraid to speak for various reasons. Without the truth how can we make informed decisions, and without informed decision how can we do what is good for the country and the people?

    A big thank you,
    Rich

If the Democratic Party is so progressive and for the rule of law, why are capitulating on FISA and the unlawful warantless eavesdropping. They are about to give George Bush everything we have been fighting against. Telecom immunity for one. So the corporations that have been spying on Americans unlawfully will definitely get immunity fromthe law thanks to the Democratic Leaders in Congress. Put that together with the Contywide Mortage scandal that has engulfed Jim Johnson, an Obama adviser, Chris Dodd, who received mortage favors from them and Kent Conrad, also a “special mortage benefactor. The party is full of the crooks that they say they are fighting against. The DNC is corrupt as ever. Hopefully, Patrick Fitzgerald isn’t finished with blowing the lid off the Illinois Combine’s pay to play scheme. I just hope he hurries.

  • glennmcgahhee

As I hear that Obama will declare that the full delegations from Michigan and Florida will be seated with full voting priviledges, in Florida, Hillary delegates are being purged (I live here) and replaced by loyalists for Obama. It makes me think they are not at all confident in the outcome of a fair ballot at the convention. I also heard, but have not verified, that members of gay and lesbian groups are also being purged as Obama reaches out to evangelicals. I bet that if its true, the Democratic Party platform will look a whole lot different than it has in the past.

Anyone who fails to see the merit in your terrific cartoons and commentary has a devastating and apparently incurable case of tunnel vision. Obama really knows how to work the Chicago political machine and the expose of his nefarious connections is only beginning to be seen by the public as people like you help bring his shenanigans to light. To be sure, the Repubs are onto him. Furthermore, the weakness in his position on the most important issues in the election expose his lack of experience and capability to lead this country in critical times. This will become more and more apparent to even the bamboozled Obamanites as we approach election time. Keep the cartoons and commentaries coming. They need much wider circuation in the media.

i think we should start a new democratic party with the old loyal true democrats and the independents.

like festivus for the rest of us.

one that will work for the people, not like the old one that is a [clone or the republican party]

maybe we should just let it go and start over.
