Seems like I can never get on the right side of things, but I'm a conservative who actually has no problem with Obama talking to school children. And I don't care what he says, either. If parents in this country did a good job of educating their own children at home (in addition to school) and taught their children how to think critically, then they would have nothing to fear. This whole outcry against the Obama talk is nothing more than a mass admission of fear that they've done lousy jobs as parents. I always exposed my kids to the most radical opinions from both sides from an early age. They are 23 and 19 now and have their heads on straight in a MAJOR way. Now I'm going to go back to sounding more like a conservative, and observe: If the conservatives in this country don't want their kids subjected to socialist doctrine, don't send them to public schools. You know, the teachers unions are made up of teachers, after all...

I hail from NH now as well. I was on the Seacoast for the primary fight, and it was great.. I was SHOCKED when Porter, and most of the PEA (Phillips Exeter Academy)elite dumped Hil for BO... it made no sense except that BO( and the MSM) were throwing money, and smears.

The women over here should be hanging their heads in shame.

The Clintons are very popular here. I will be helping Shea Porter out the door next year...count on it. I will drink 2 shots at the time of her defeat. One for me, and one for Hillary.

Live free or die is more than a slogan in New Hampshire.

EXCELLENT points, Kathleen!

The patronizing, arrogant, condescension of these elected officials really is astonishing. I saw a clip this morning of Louise Slaughter saying she wouldn't hold town hall meetings because she didn't want to give those "groups" that kind of forum (or something along those lines). So, she REFUSED to meet with her constituents, and then claimed that she has a VERY close relationship with them. I'm not making this crap up! (My buddy, Nunly, had mentioned this to me yesterday, too.) Say, WHAAAA??? Wow.

Patience,

As Portia Elizabeth has astutely learned after moving to our wonderful state of NH, we do have our own customs and mores, as do other areas and regions of the country.

If you look closely at the video RRRA provided, the NH people are dressed conservatively but more casually. Anyone from NH can recognize the out of staters not only by dress, but also by body language. New Hampshirites are comfortable in their own skins, and feel safe. We do not hold ourselves as rigidly as those from MA urban areas.

Of course we can spot an "outlander" in seconds. So yes, a retired NH policeman, would have known instantly who in the crowd did not belong, as easily as he breathes.

Hope that helps.

My sentiments exactly. I have no idea who Carol Shea Porter is other than having been a life-long registered democrat, since 1964 until May 31, 2008, I had contributed to her initial campaign; I think in response to an e-mail from Wesley Clark. I too was extremely disappointed in her "not endorsing a candidate" until she suddenly changed her tune when the Obama team sent some money her way and suddently she was on board. Obviously I will no longer support the DNC; in the future only individual candidates for me.

So, out-of-state astroturf supporters were bussed to this townhall too?

I've been trying to determine who the ejected man's question about -- I couldn't tell from the video if he wanted to know if another townhall participant or the Congresswoman was from NH. Now I have a much clearer sense of what was going on at this event. Thanks for all the added info Nellie.

Of course I disagree with the "selecting" of people for any political event. It's not like a rock concert. People attend political events to become more informed.

That said, Bush did NOT represent the people of Colorado as their Senator or elected representative. What Carol Shea-Porter did was much worse as she brought in people she DOES NOT represent, and made it extremely inconvenient for the people she is supposed to represent to ask questions or have input.

Just for starters, the building she chose, the Morris -Cotton Federal Bldg, is one of two or three "high rises" in the city of Manchester, NH. It houses Social Security, the IRS, VA benefits etc. As a Federal Bldg it pays NO Real Estate taxes, and the number of jobs available there are minimal.

Secondly the Bldg itself is located in an area with very limited parking and is near the Police Station. This means local residents have to park blocks away just to attend. Shea-Porter could have easily requested use of one of the 3 high schools, the Public Library, the "new" Manchester City Hall, or even Derryfield Country Club; ALL of which are easily gotten to, and have ample parking for all citizens, especially those who may have limited mobility.

The out of staters were most likely bussed in and dropped off at the front door, so they sure were not inconvenienced. Further these "outlanders" are the same people who obtained their "jobs" through Craig's List, and are being paid $11-$16/hour of OUR tax money to be there.

Never in my 60+ years has anyone EVER had to be picked from a lottery to ask questions at a political meeting. Granted it sometimes get contentious at town hall meetings, especially among the males. However, NH men are damn good at policing themselves, and if it was going over the top, 3 or 4 actual citizens would have gone up to the retired policeman and quietly but firmly pulled him out of the room until he calmed down. Then things would proceed as normal.

NO politician in NH requires the "Federal Protection Services". NH has one of the lowest crime rates in the country and the lowest murder rate. Even the setup of this Fascist Farce is frightening and disquieting to say the least.

All of us need to wake up and SAY "No More". There are more of us than of them.

Exactly. We need real election reform at the ballot box and we won't have real democracy until we take money out of politics.

Ralph Nader is right.

If Bush had loved his country, he would have actually served in the military, and no vet I know considers a man who went straight from civilian life to a jet, without ever passing through OCS or Basic Training, a vet. He is a tourist.

If she had no part, then why was she pointing to him and indicating him?

And who were the folks who got tickets to speak?

And why wasn't everyone permitted to speak if they wanted to?

Sounds rigged to me.

Please take the limk below. I am no fan of Obama, and I don't know anything about Shea-Porter, as I obviously live in Colorado. But I am also not a fan of Bush/Cheney. I didn't like their tactics either. To use the word "never" is too strong. These things did happen under Bush, too.

I am ready to rant!
This country needs a president who is humble enough and courageous enough to respect it's citizens.
This country needs to stop bailing out on those who risk everything to defend us.
This country needs to import jobs and export illegals.
This country needs to put Congress on an allowance.
This country needs both misers and deadbeats to leave for they are crushing the middle.
This country needs to refuse to allow racists in the White House, Congress, and the media to segregate it again.
This country needs to ponder the official response to Katrina before allowing our entire healthcare system to drown.
Thank you. I'll show myself out!
