Media Whitewash on Van Jones [Updated with Beck video]

[Note--It is important to acknowledge the work of Gateway Pundit and journalists like Aaron Klein who started on this issue before Glen Beck picked up the cudgel. A further reminder of how pitiful and ignorant the mainstream media are.]

Jesus! How frigging dishonest can they be? To portray Van Jones as a “civil rights” activist is like portraying Fidel Castro as a mere cigar afficionado. Here’s the typical Main Stream pablum (Memeorandum has a full rundown as always):

President Barack Obama’s adviser Van Jones has resigned amid controversy over past inflammatory statements, the White House said early Sunday.
Jones, an administration official specializing in environmentally friendly “green jobs” with the White House Council on Environmental Quality was linked to efforts suggesting a government role in the 2001 terror attacks and to derogatory comments about Republicans.
The resignation comes as Obama is working to regain his footing in the contentious health care debate.
Jones issued an apology on Thursday for his past statements. When asked the next day whether Obama still had confidence in him, White House press secretary Robert Gibbs said only that Jones “continues to work in the administration.”

Van is a coward. The man is on the record as a self-professed communist.

He signed on to the 9-11 Truthers statement and then tried desperately to pretend he did not know what the hell he signed.

I know I’ll never be in an Administration given some of the things I have said and written. The difference is that I stand by what I have said and written. I am not ashamed. Van Jones? Ashamed. He ran from his self-professed convictions.

What is really entertaining is to visit Big Orange (aka KOS). Those folks are in meltdown and denial. They are eating each other alive. Here’s a taste:

Glen Beck, regardless of whether you like him or not, kicked some well-deserved ass on this. He exposed more Obama carelessness is failing to thoroughly review Van Jones’ positions and beliefs. Of course the sloppiness with Jones has been the rule for Obama. Tim Geithner forgot to pay taxes and was put in charge of the IRS. Tom Daschle was a tax cheat and was nominated to serve as Secretary of Homeland Security, etc., etc., etc.

Here is Beck’s initial piece on Jones. Devastating.

Yet the key elements of the media is trying to portray Van Jones as just a misunderstood male-version of Rosa Parks. Fuck him and good riddance.

UPDATE–LA Times, to its credit, gives a pretty good rundown of some of the issues that fueled the fire lit under Van Jones. See here.

Van Jones, the onetime Marxist whose controversial statements about Republicans and 9/11 have made him a distracting lightning rod as Barack Obama’s environmental jobs czar in recent days, resigned tonight.

Now, the Sunday morning political talk shows (guest listings here) will have something really hot to talk about.

On Wednesday, as The Ticket reported here, Jones was forced to apologize when a video surfaced of his February remarks in Berkeley, of all places, using a reference to a lower anatomical orifice to describe Republicans.

The next day Jones again had to apologize for having his signature on a petition to then N.Y. Attorney General Eliot Spitzer seeking an investigation into the 9/11 attacks as possibly an inside job planned by then-Pres. George W. Bush to soften opposition to a war in Iraq.

On another video here Jones was seen mocking Bush physically and rhetorically as “a crackhead” for his addiction to petroleum.

Too bad the Times did not lay out in detail that Jones is still a Marxist and has never renounced his past beliefs.

Just got back from the Daily Kos site. Larry, they really are eating each other alive over there.

During my campaigning for Hillary, I believed what I was talking about, but I never believed that I would see Obots finally seeing the truth. I’m flabbergasted.

It is sad all the way around. Sad that Hillary isn’t the president, and sad that I wasn’t wrong in what I believed about Obama. It seemed so surreal at the time, but now it is coming all true.

One cannot see what one’s mind cannot conceive. What the heck is going to happen for the next 2 1/2 yrs?? I hope to God that Hillary runs or someone who is like her.

I voted for Hillary b/c I knew she would get the job done. People would try and tell me that Hillary and Obama stood the same on issues. lol..k..I would say that the difference was that one, that is isn’t true, and two, Hillary would make her issues into policy and Obama wouldn’t.

Not only does Van Jones have the wrong convictions, he doesn’t have the courage to stick to what he might or might not believe in. He talks and talks and talks and then walks.

    Van Jones, the onetime Marxist

The use of the phrase “One-time” by the LA Times is equivocation. “One-time” means “no longer”. That is a fact not in evidence as I cannot find any statement he made disavowing his “one-time” Marxist views. More hogwash from a media that cannot bring itself to tell the truth and admit error.

  • tango

LOL, right on Diana. That “whitey” woman is turning out to be one of the few of any color in Obama’s Administration doing their job.

  • Ferd Berfle

With all the scientists working in this country, why would That One appoint some ignorant Marxist to fill a position better suited to someone who understands the subject. What the hell am I saying? The slack-jawed, mouth-breathing electorate gave us a third-rate, fourth-class boob for POTUS than the better-suited HRC. My apologies for wasting space on a really stupid question.

  • I’m a Linda too

It’s funny. We all know how the Obamanation works. Everyone I know was predicting this. Then one of my friends said, maybe they’re hoping he won’t have to resign with the apology. And I said, in true Obama fashion, his arrogance always delays proper response thinking his charm will get him out of something. The longer he drags it on, the more damage he gets……..always. I said I was fine if he wanted to hold off ’til right before his big speech, but, it sure wouldn’t be doing HIM any good.

As usual, slow and dishonest, they succumbed to their only alternative in the real world, late, excuses and apologies not bought and now Obama has two big speeches…school children (oh yes, a great role model-lmao) and joint Congress address.

  • tango

What throws me is Van Jones statement that he has resigned due to lies and smears against him. There are videotapes and written accounts of what he’s said. Noone has to make up lies – his racist, maxist and wackadoo views are public for all to see. It’s on videotape s-t-u-p-i-d!

I notice the talking heads all make comment about Jones signing the truther petition and calling Republicans A-holes as the reason he was “forced” to resign. What’s not mentioned is Jones comments about white people intentionally poisoning minority communities, his music recording where he hates on whites, his condoning of killing police officers and his comment that only white kids commit Columbine type killings whereas black kids just shoot each other one on one. Those last four reasons are more disturbing to me than calling the GOP a nasty name and are conveniently left out of discussion. So the MSM implies just some signed petition he didn’t read and calling someone a bad name was enough to smear his good name.

    Losers.

  • Mirlo

    LOL

  • SJ

Why is it in America a black man like Van Jones can come out and say openly that he believes white farmers are killing minorities with pesticides, and the MSM ignores it, they wont even discuss what is wrong.

On the other hand if a white man comes out and makes the same statement in public about black farmers all hell breaks open and the race card is shuffled and played with calls of racist comments, and the suffering of black people.

I am so tired of this, and its about time that people take a stand and stop this kind of nonsense.

I know I shouldn’t be surprised, but wouldn’t you think that this case is clear enough for even the NYT to recognize Jonesey as an affront to all Americans?

Pitiful, isn’t it? Selective indignation abounds in politics. Jones made his own bed by saying the things he did. If he didn’t mean them, he shouldn’t have said them on camera and if he did mean them, he should have had the courage of his convictions to stand by them. The Times is no better. I don’t like extremists but at least the hard right stands by its ill-considered statements and beliefs, even in the face of facts. One knows where they stand.

  • I’m a Linda too

Really. I sit here and think about where we were, before these losers brought us back in time, with their calling us “whitey” and we’re all “racists” if we don’t let them have their way, what ever that way is.

Obama sure has brought a different tone to DC and I don’t think it was one folks were expecting or wanting.

I just don’t know if Van Jones does and says all this for financial gain, or if he really believes the stuff he says and wants to live in a world, and make ours that of what he envisions as a one to live by-that being Communism, Leninism. Not that doing it for the money makes it ok, because his sucker followers believe what he preaches. Like Rev Wright, choosing instead to fuel bigotry, hatred and living in the past, because HE benefits from fueling rage.

I haven’t checked the Kos this morning, but last night they were calling this “a high-tech lynching.” Why am I “not” surprised.

As for Glenn Beck, I too have problems with some of his positions. But, he’s the only one who seems willing to dig into the background of this circle around the President. A self-proclaimed Marxist and anarchist should be an automatic disqualifier. And what does that say about the heavy-duty vetting that this Administration insisted it would do?

This huge czar network doesn’t make sense anyway. Unless, of course, you’re deliberately keeping these people from background checks.

Only a few months ago, Hillary Clinton complained that the WH “vetting process” was impossibly slow and was keeping her from filling key positions at State. And then, we have this, where there was obviously no vetting or a whole lot of people turned a very blind eye on Van Jones.

And we expect healthcare reform that makes sense???

Calls judgement into question once again, the one has no convictions outwardly, he runs every decision through a campaign filter, figures vetting is only for “other” people running for office, etc. How can anyone take any policy put forth by this administration as being in the interest of the people. True to his Alinsky roots, the one uses them up and tosses them aside when he is done; this has happened over and over again. The problems he is having now, are not at a community organizer level, when you are dealing with people in the millions. He is armpit high in poop, yet still keeps running his mouth as such a “gifted” orator. One would think shutting up may be smart when that poop level inches up higher. How about actually doing some work, instead of posturing and posing and whining 24/7. ObamaInfant.

Glenn Beck has really been courageous lately and I’ll give him kudos for it. He’s been unafraid to come right out and say “THAT EMPEROR HAS NO CLOTHES.”

This went from Beck to the mainstream media, and after Beck was targeted by the White House and the “Color of Change” campaign to force Fox News to fire Glenn Beck by threatening advertisers to the show. The upshot is this: Becks won the ratings war on more than one night; and Van Jones is outted as the dangerous radical he is. Beck didn’t back down; he just kept on pointing out facts.

Frankly, I couldn’t be more pleased that they had their noses rubbed in their own shit.

Wow! What a spectacular fall! I can understand why Obama had chosen him–he is charismatic (I wonder how much CO2 his million watt smile produces, LOL) and would have been the perfect person to whip up emotions on green issues. Van Jones was obviously no scientist, and charisma and emotion are the only ways green issues are going to get any traction.

For example, in the video when Jones stated (around 5:00) that 75% of greenhouse gasses are coming from cities–how sloppy can you get? Perhaps 75% of man made greenhouse gasses are, but certainly not 75% of ALL greenhouse gasses. Unless the green czar has a plan to prevent the 90plus% of the Earth’s CO2 production from volcanoes, non-human living things, decaying plant material, and the ocean, his efforts to reduce human CO2 production from some single digit percentage to an even smaller single digit percentage would have just been a disguise for economic subversion, government control, and wealth redistribution.

Here’s a great counter point to the old Gore documentary: it’s called The Great Global Warming Swindle, in 9 parts on YouTube (DVD also available at Amazon). Here’s part 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6TqqWJugXzs&feature=related

If you only have 9 minutes to spare, part 3 is where it really zeros in on CO2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GzFL6Ixe_bo&feature=related

There is nothing wrong with reducing pollution per se, but we have to look at ALL the effects of proposed policies, including economic, and not just focus on the pollution aspects based on questionable models.

At DailyKos, some are having “buyer’s remorse” and wishing they had Hillary Clinton….instead of the coward they supported. Doesn’t it just make you want to weep for what might have been?

“…well frankly I’m starting to think she might have been [better]

I did not support her in the primaries because of her DLC ties and because had she won I believed it would be a repeat of the 90s–she was too polarizing and would energize the Right, would bring back all the Clinton alums, would be a triangulator and screw liberals over and over.

Except now I see that Obama is the one who has become that description. At least Hillary dealt with the Right’s viciousness personally for 8 years already. You think she would have stayed quiet in the face of the kind of outrageous attacks that Obama has gotten on both him and on the policies he espouses?

I honestly don’t think so. I do believe now that Hillary would probably have been a fighter, if not always on the progressive side, but a fighter nonetheless. Here we have Obama giving the middle finger to progressives while at the same time limping like a wilted banana at every GOP attack launched their way. This is demoralizing to watch, irrespective of the policies at this point.

We are stuck with him now, and it’s not too much to ask for that he act like the President of the United States and not like a jellyfish when unknown GOP backbenchers lob their lies against him.”

Somewhere along the line, “civil rights” came to mean rights for African-Americans only. Now, no one even thinks of Caucasians when the term “civil rights” is used. Even other minorities don’t come to mind. “Civil rights” are the sole province of AAs.

Whites are not immune from loss of civil rights, which they will learn the hard way as this “administration” grinds on.

  • HARP

I want to see the Senate bring in officials from yhe FBI, under oat and ask them 3 questions.

    1..Where these czars vetted?

2.. If not, who told you not to vet them?

2..If they where properly vetted, who in the WH received this information?

I hope Mr. Beck will push for this and go to the heart of the matter.

  • Ferd Berfle

You’re right and it really is a shame. In the 60s it was not just AAs who marched, were jailed, or lost lives. In lieu making civil rights a universal cause, they made it about themselves, which, in and of itself, is racist. I said it and stand by this comment.

  • http://! stodgie

i agree, jones is most likely still a marxist. a very convenient marist who doesn’t have the necesssary equipment or stamina to stand for his professed beliefs.

i think obama mindlessly follows the trail left by his mother. i tried my parents beliefs in the world as a young person and had to discard those that didnt work. clearly obama has never done that. a rude awakening i hope for us all.

  • Peggy Sue

Yes, mountainaires. It does make we want to weep. Too little, too late at this juncture. We’re stuck for another 31/2 years with a man who thus far has only proven how ill-prepared he truly was/is for the job. Not that there wasn’t plenty of evidence. And the DNC holds prime responsibility.

Remember the argument that running a stellar campaign [questionable at best] was an example of how the man would lead? I think we can chalk that up to pure garbage.

The “blank slate” turned out to be just that: blank.

    Exactly.

Frankly, I couldn’t be more pleased that they had their noses rubbed in their own shit.

I also admit in the past not a fan of Glen Beck, but I respect when someone has the cajones and the facts, and keeps at it, taking a stand. Also, I don’t deal well with any administration trying to silence any broadcast faction. I may not like what the jerks say on certain stations, so I simply do not tune my television to those stations. Choice. Not bullying from either side.

All I am waiting for is some moron in the d party to say this is all a racist campaign against the administration; Bull-actually what is racist is appointing an unqualified person with no background in a science related discipline to a green jobs, “czar”. Tell me was he given the job because he had done so much green work before? No, racial favoritism cloaked in nepotism is how many of the czar positions have been filled as well as cabinet and advisor positions. I get the need to have allies, but the flagrant in your face lack of ability, and the willingness to just throw these policies to neophyte buddies is stunning.

  • Katmoon

I hear you felizarte; when it stops serving those who use it, maybe it will fall away from grace in their eyes. The damage will have already been done and I think has by now. Imagine when there is true racism, to whatever race(as it is not only one race that suffers it). It will be hard to get people to pay attention weary and apathetic and understandably cautious to get involved. From there it will continue in a self-perpetuating cycle,…they didn’t care because we are “xyz”..etc.

Ironic Huffpoop can run the van jones article in relation to Glen Beck, getting a “scalp” and I have yet to hear any racist concerns. A$$holes!

  • Patience

We’ve reached the point where an avowed Marxist (whether or not he’s calling his political ideology something different these days) is accepted as a close advisor to a president, AND that main stream media only attributes his resignation to the epithet he used for Republicans and his signature on a Truther petition. There’s still no mention of his incendiary racial remarks. People in this country have the right to espouse Marxism but that doesn’t mean the general public has to accept them in influential government positions.

Mr. Jones is a Yale-educated lawyer who’s focused on civil rights issues. His interest in green jobs is fairly recent and I’ve not yet been able to determine his track record.

I still have trouble tuning into Glen Beck — I find his style off-putting. But I’m glad he brought Van Jones’ history to light. I guess some progressives regard this as a lynching because they agree with his POV, but it’s dismaying that they don’t appreciate the concerns that’ve been raised. For all I know maybe attitudes of this sort are widely-held in the green movement. If so, it’s too bad. I just try to do the best I can as an individual when it comes to conservation.

  • Ferd Berfle

  • Georgia

Ferd.. couldn’t agree more. Gains were not make by blacks alone, look at all the whites that put life and limb in danger as they marched with blacks. Especially in the south. You had to be very brave back then… very brave! You also had to come from a place that you were willing to loose everything in the name of standing on principal, what you believed was right. Blacks had nothing and frankly had nothing to loose and everything to gain. But those whites here in the south that spoke out and marched were ostracized, their kids were targeted at schools, jobs were in jeopardy and lives were threatened

My point is that 69,000,000 did vote for him and they weren’t forced to so do any more than those who voted for Bush. We have a significant problem in this country that goes far beyond the electoral college. We have an under-informed uniformed electorate that votes for style and format over content and substance. Until that little problem is repaired, not amount of tinkering is going to do any good.

Yes, isn’t it ironic. I guess in the “gospel according to Van Jones” my white farmer father was one of those farmers trying to destroy his kinsmen. Ironically my white farmer father – now deceased – supported Jesse Jackson when he ran in the democratic primaries because he liked Jackson’s farm policies. I guess Van Jones never met my father or anyone like him. It sounds like Jones has been so busy promoting his own extremist agenda that he has had not time to pay attention to what “real people” in this country really think. This type of thinking seems to be an “epidemic” in this current administration.

The untold story here is what this says about the so-called “green jobs” environmental movement. The most radical of the radicals like Jones have hijacked it.

In Rules For Radicals, Saul Alinsky said that you need to organize people around something as simple as “pollution.” For a guy like Jones, the climate change/green jobs movement is a convenient way to attack oil, coal, natural gas, and so forth. The goal of the Marxist is destruction of our economy and capitalism.

  • elizabethrc

I agree. Further, I think that Obama has succeeded in establishing that he will be the first and last black man to be President. He’s damaged race relations immeasureably. He thought he could come into office and drag along with him a lot of blacks who are unqualified or who hold strong biases against whites, capitalism, America, without anyone calling him on it.
Obama is creating racists…but not of the black variety.

  • Ferd Berfle

You’re right. That One and Van Jones don’t care a tinker’s cuss about the environment. It is just another convenient excuse to grab power. As someone who has worked in the environmental arena for 25 years, I find such flimflam artists part of the problem. I work with serious-minded people on serious issues and all that work goes for naught with one or two crap-artists like Jones and That One. They are contemptible.

  • Clara

I’ve only begun to watch Beck on any consistent basis and there are still times I turn the channel. But his series this past week or so on various close advisors to Obama has been intriguing. He sourced his work carefully and really did his homework. To present this case on characters like Van Jones, he used Obama’s own words against him very effectively and in a way that no one could argue the point.

Obama said way back that we should judge him by the people he surrounds himself with. He named Warren Buffet and Paul Volker as examples, but omitted Jeremiah Wright, Father Phleger, Bill Ayers, and a long list of others. Good job to Glenn Beck for the grit to hammer this piece so that America finally heard it and Jones had to resign. I hope Beck has good protection.

  • http://deleted BuzzisbackLatte

Racism won’t be allowed to die because so many blacks can’t even get over the color of their skin. Like the professor mentioned above, they use it as a reason to stay stuck in ’60′s radicalism.

Everyone else has to get past their skin tone, but they, themselves, don’t have to in their ideology.

Obama’s a prime example of someone who used his skin tone to batter and berate a nation.

The three civil rights workers murdered in Mississippi…2 were white. And then there was the white woman shot for giving a black demonstrator a ride. Those are the prominent ones that come to mind. No one is claiming that as many whites as blacks lost their lives (I know the lurkers are out there), but we stepped up and lost a lot in family and income for our involvement. I have found it amazing that some of my black friends seem to think that I have had a life of ease and leisure.

Always appreciate your stinging analysis of “cult” Obama. However, how BO governs under the radar is just as important. You mentioned Tom Daschle resigning. Guess who is a regular visitor to the WH and works with lots of health care lobbyists? You’re right, Daschle. Obama is forced to fire his appointees. Yet, he brings them back into power through another door hiding them from public scrutiny. Where’s the “transparency” Chairman Obama?

The real “Marxist” in this administration is the TOTUS.

Harp, I’ve always thought that they don’t need vetting because they’ve been acquainted for years. The radical left is a very insular group. What the DNC and the far-left wing of the democratic party and MSM forgot or simply were not aware of (because of their arrogance and isolation from mainstream Americans) was that “the folks” are not a stupid passive herd of sheep (sorry no slur intended against sheep). They also thought they could win over Hillary supporters by name-calling, shaming, and dismissing and dis-enfranchising them. Is this the “change” Obama was preaching? Since when has this ever worked, except in dictatorships and banana republics?

Now they are blaming Van Jones’ resignation on republicans? Give me a break – it’s ordinary “folks” like myself who have been calling for his resignation and will listen to what Glen Beck, Rush Limbaugh, Lou Dobbs, Sean Hannity, Fox Cable News, etc. say simply because the voices in the MSM are largely silent when it comes to investigating this administration, this congress, and all the lies, corruption, and fraud associated with so many of them.

Years ago, the Marxists realized that concern for the environment could be used like a wave on which communists could surf their way into mainstream American politics. Until recently, Marxists have had to diguise themselves as they infiltrate all aspectes of our lives, but no matter which road they take, they envision all the roads converging at Utopian world communism.

Priests don’t become communists, communists become priests.
Environmentalists don’t become communists, communists become environmentalists.

Community activists don’t become communists, communists become community activists.

Now this is much better Larry, I’m glad you decided to step up and post the facts on Van Jones. You are to be commended as one of the few lefties in the world willing to state the facts re Van Jones.

Consider, my lefty friends, the worshipping of Obama in Nov 08 about his vetting process and the seven page questionnaire ALL must fill out to work for Obama.

Where’s Van Jones’ application? What did Obama know, and when did he know it. All speeches are to be listed that have been recorded. All those VJ insanity clips, and his 9/11 truthism, was available on google.

Question #12. Please identify all speeches you have given. If available, please provide the text or recordings of each such speech or identify any recordings of speeches of which you are aware.

    The full questionnaire:
    http://graphics8.nytimes.com/packages/pdf/national/13apply_questionnaire.pdf
for all applicants…remember the media cooing about the Obama transition team application for all staff and how comprehensive it is?

How amazing and awesome Obama was because of it?

Read this questionnaire. The Van Jones application would have had EVERY tape we’ve seen surface so far if filled out accurately.

So, if we are to believe Van Jones is an honest guy, the FBI checked his info out and Obama’s people read the submissions, Obama knew everything we know now.

    http://www.nytimes.com/2008/11/13/us/politics/13apply.html

But Mr. Obama has elevated the vetting even beyond what might have been expected, especially when it comes to applicants’ family members, in a reflection of his campaign rhetoric against lobbying and the back-scratching, self-serving ways of Washington.

“President-elect Obama made a commitment to change the way Washington does business, and the vetting process exemplifies that,” said Stephanie Cutter, chief spokeswoman for the Obama transition office.

    http://www.time.com/time/politics/article/0,8599,1859954,00.html

this november time piece is a truly hilarious article….kissing obama’s butt for his great vettting process before it ever produced any results…and look at the results now – unpaid taxes, corruption and now van jones

Though over 7,000 jobs are expected to become available in President-elect Barack Obama’s Administration, applying for them is not for the faint of heart — or character. In order to compete for any of the positions, from U.S. coordinator for Afghanistan to staff assistant in the Department of Public Affairs, prospective Obamans need to fill out a grueling seven-page questionnaire created by Obama’s transition team to ensure that all members of the next Administration have had their closets spring-cleaned of any skeletons well in advance.

The questionnaire leaves no stone unturned in its 63-part effort to excavate any personal or professional transgressions in a candidate’s past. Sample indiscretions run the gamut from criminal convictions and tax fraud to text messages or personal diary entries that could be a “possible source of embarrassment” to the President-elect if made public. (See pictures of Barack Obama’s campaign behind the scenes.)

    Highlight Reel:

Question #12. Please identify all speeches you have given. If available, please provide the text or recordings of each such speech or identify any recordings of speeches of which you are aware.
While this might immediately eliminate a few notorious public figures — like the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, say, or Mahmoud Ahmadinejad — it’s harder to tell whether there might be any hidden evils lurking in the dusty VHS recording of your high school graduation speech, other than the bad haircut.

come on guys time to make this obama’s real waterloo

either obama knew about EVERYTHING we now know on VJ from the application, or van jones lied and the fbi/transition team/white house are incompetent.

  • Ferd Berfle

Unfortunately, you are correct. You can also insert any number of other nouns for communist and get the same sort of results, bureaucrat comes to mind.

    Good post larry.

    Think about this:

Question #12. Please identify all speeches you have given. If available, please provide the text or recordings of each such speech or identify any recordings of speeches of which you are aware.

    The full questionnaire:
    http://graphics8.nytimes.com/packages/pdf/national/13apply_questionnaire.pdf

for all applicants…remember the media cooing about the Obama transition team application for all staff and how comprehensive it is?

How amazing and awesome Obama was because of it?

Read this questionnaire. The Van Jones application would have had EVERY tape we’ve seen surface so far if filled out accurately.

So, if we are to believe Van Jones is an honest guy, the FBI checked his info out and Obama’s people read the submissions, Obama knew everything we know now.

    http://www.time.com/time/politics/article/0,8599,1859954,00.html

this november time piece is a truly hilarious article….kissing obama’s butt for his great vettting process before it ever produced any results…and look at the results now – unpaid taxes, corruption and now van jones

come on guys time to make this obama’s real waterloo

either obama knew about EVERYTHING we now know on VJ from the application, or van jones lied and the fbi/transition team/white house are incompetent.

    No doubt.

The old media completely missed this story in its entirety. This is the first time in modern American history that a senior WH advisor ran into scandal over about a 6 week period, crescendoing into forced resignation, that the NYT wrote not a SINGLE article on.

    NOT ONE.

The only WAPO article till late sat (right before 12:12am resignation) was on August 11, 2009 cooing about Jones as awesome (in response to mid july-august glenn beck crushing of jones) AND WaPo says the following, VERY VERY TELLING line that deserves much more play:

“His career path was not unlike President Obama’s.”

LET ME REPEAT THAT, FROM WAPO, AUGUST 11, 2009

“His career path was not unlike President Obama’s.”

    and the rest for context:
“His career path was not unlike President Obama’s. After graduating from Yale Law School, Jones worked as a community activist in Oakland, Calif., and founded the Ella Barker Center for Human Rights. A few years ago, he saw an opportunity to combine his commitment to racial and economic parity with work to solve the environmental crisis. He soon became a hero of the green movement as he talked about “greening the ghetto,” appearing on hip shows such as “The Colbert Report” and sending out his message on YouTube.”

    http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/08/10/AR2009081002676.html

WaPo STILL has this up under their
“VOICES OF POWER” in the Obama admin, complete with video of his interview. Read the transcript.

    I bet its down shortly

He has, indeed. And when the dust settles, I won’t listen to any of the whining from the minority crowd or the self-flagellating whites about it. They brought it up, used it to their advantage, and will have to deal with its aftermath. Beyond that I am not interested in the slightest.

This article spells out who some of them are and more importantly what they are. Pay attention to the one who may be the SCOTUS.

    Obama’s Radical Czars

One is judged by the company he or she keeps.

Yet for over a year now, we — or more specifically the state-run media —have failed to hold Our Lord and Savior Barack Hussein Obama to that same standard.

Why? Because Obama has been allowed to pass Himself off as some sort of centrist, a post-partisan, post-racial political figure who will bring all Americans together despite His longstanding connections with some of the most radical figures in the history of American politics.

    http://theundergroundconservative.wordpress.com/2009/09/03/obamas-radical-czars/

  • Ferd Berfle

To the contrary, I am on no high horse. I will not, however, have my face constantly rubbed in the mantra of racism, irrespective of who makes it, simply because of MY color. Respect for rights is a two-way street and not a dead-end.

  • felizarte

I’m pretty sure that none of us here were around when that lynching occurred. I am also pretty sure that all of us probably today would do something to keep that from happening.

But lynching, literally and figuratively can happen to anybody of any color and everybody has an obligation to prevent such atrocity. Yet, in a figurative sense, the organization, Color of something wanted to lynch Glen Beck for speaking his mind by trying to choke his ability to earn a living. That is wrong too, and that organization was operating in the tradition that Van Jones laid out when he co-founded it.

Lynching it is also, (albeit figuratively) when protesters of the Obama health plan are shouted down by SEIU workers and other Obama supporters, even get a finger bitten or some bones broken.

So let us not view racism from a very narrow prism. Instead, let us focus our sights on a more pervasive intolerance, discrimination in all its ugly heads) afflicting our society. But most of all, let us recognize each other’s inalienable rights as defined in the constitution one of which is the right to associate, or not associate with anyone for whatever reason.

  • felizarte

Well, my grandfather had to leave his Georgia town (around 1910) where 4 generations of his family had lived, without slaves, because he wouldn’t go along with terrorizing a black man. He had been Sheriff…one term…because of his moral stand. He was no Atticus Finch but he was an honest, kind man. He fled for his life as the KKK had a hit out on him. He went to Oklahoma where he had an Uncle and when he got a job, he sent for my grandmother and their five children. No, he managed to avoid lynching or being burned out, merely uprooting his life and starting from scratch. And he came from a large, prominent family. But those sacrifices don’t count.
I won’t go into the scenario of my personal life on a blog but as a divorced mother of two did raise my children without welfare and worked my tail off to bring them up without major problems (drugs, alcohol, gambling, etc,) And in the midst of that, 5 months in intensive care from life threatening injuries…sorry I didn’t make it to the ghetto though.

    That’s what I mean. It’s never enough.

Bringing up racially charged terms like “lynch” is not helpful to the conversation. Obama blew a big chance to do good by using trigger words to polarize this country. Do you realize how far he has set back race relations in this country?

If Obama wants a color-blind society, he can start by retiring the victim card.

What a fantastic thread, all of you. Thoughtful, soul searched from experience, and so much truth. I remark here because these discussions have been so difficult for many over the past year. This last election broke many hearts for many reasons in this country, by far the worse experience to date (IMHO)is the division and conquering of the American people, by race. There are so many groups openly, pitted against one another, not only Republicans and Democrats, but deeper into our race, our age our gender and our lifestyles. Also, our health and ability to have wealth,(whatever description you choose to apply) and our gray matter as well. Further where we live in this country, and the presumed bigotry of what each state’s type is. Military families, southern families, west coast east coast…… Of course all of this has been in existence for quite some time, the real heartbreak is those who would turn our country into a turf war as if this is some gang style way to live. I am and will always be an American first, and I will presume the same of others until they show me differently. When that person chooses to identify themselves by a specific label, that is how I will perceive them. You name yourself “rabbit”, that is what you will be.

There is a false rumor growing on the “internets” regarding Glenn Beck which is really something that should not even be discussed with no evidence. The false rumor has also appeared in the comments of some of my pieces by those attacking Beck. I am addressing it here because I fear some people actually believe this rumor and as a Beck opponent on most issues I feel I have some credibility if I stick up for the man on anything. I will continue to attack Beck’s stances on people like Van Jones but he deserves better than to be subjected to this rumor.

I’m glad you wrote this — whenever I get demoralized by the ga-ga-BO rhetoric, I have to remember to just look at the facts: Beck in, Jones out; end of story.

  • Onofre’s arm

Momments ago on Fox, Howard Dean was praising Van Jones and supported the notion that a good man had just been railroaded out of office. He sounded like Valerie Jarrett with his praise and knowledge of the man’s past. In the same breath, Howie said that Jones was a Yale educated lawyer, an author, and a brilliant leader on the green economy front, and that he didn’t know what he was signing when petitioners shoved the 9/11 inquiry petition in his face. Well, I have some new questions based on this resignation.

How smart is a guy (especially a lawyer!) that signs something when he doesn’t know what it says? Since Jones’ outrageous statements and past assosiations were enough to cause his resignation, shouldn’t Obama resign for similar statements and past associations? Is Jones’ past that much different than what little we know of Obama’s past? Shouldn’t Valerie Jarrett be asked to resign since she not only praised Jones, but actively recruited him principally BECAUSE of his Marxist and racist record? Doesn’t Jones’ appointment reveal a HUGE problem with the vetting process regarding the Czars? Shouldn’t ALL of the Czars be put under intense scrutiny in light of the revelations regarding Jones? If the Jones outrages weren’t revealed until a few individuals on the fringe of the MSM looked into it, why shouldn’t we conclude that the MSM is no longer credible, and that it is no longer doing the job that we’ve assumed was the reason for it’s existence?

Most of us know the answer to all of these questions, but that only causes me to ask the most basic question of all, “How the hell did a thinly diguised America hating Narcissistic Marxist become the POTUS?” This country has fallen gravely ill, electing Obama is just a symptom, but the CAUSE of this desease must be determined before we can find the CURE!

WASHINGTON (CNN) — The resignation of Obama administration figure Van Jones, following controversies over a petition he had signed and his comments about Republicans, did not come at the request of the president, the White House senior adviser said Sunday

“Absolutely not — this was Van Jones’ own decision,” David Axelrod told NBC’s “Meet the Press” when asked if the president had ordered the resignation.

These jokers in the Obama Administration are into a continuous bait and switch: “I didn’t say that” or “I didn’t mean to say that” or “It may look like I said that but I didn’t” or “I said that but I certainly didn’t mean to say that and how you dare you think that I meant what I said.” Like little kids lying to their parents (with all apologies to little kids eveywhere).

Well I’m glad Jones is gone, he didn’t have the credentials to be a green tsar, and I could think of a dozen better people without half trying–Raul Grijalva– passed over for Secy Interior foremost.
I think Mumia is guilty as h#ll though I’d have to agree his trial was less than stellar. (I wouldn’t waste the money on a new one that would only have the same outcome). I’m not pleased with the marxism thing, but it’s hardly the big deal everyone is making out. How exactly does one think he could effect any marxist policy? Nor is marxism equivalent with Stalinism, Maoism or any other form of communism as actually practiced. The Dalai Lama calls himself a marxist monk. Does this mean he’s not effective or ethical?
More I strongly agree with everyone who said the hypocrisy of pretending he didn’t know what the Truther statement said and the silence on the issue of whether or no he remains a marxist are contemptible. I am a Truther myself and I admit my views openly.
Black communities are disproportionately targeted for disposal of pollution, hazardous waste etc, not imo because of racism per se but because they lack the tax base/political clout to succeed in fighting it; poor white communities are targeted in precisely the same way.

He signed on to the 9-11 Truthers statement and then tried desperately to pretend he did not know what the hell he signed.

We as a people seriously need to quit worshiping at the altar of ivy league academia. We have a Harvard lawyer as President who didn’t know his reverend of twenty years so well, and now this Yale lawyer who didn’t read the truther petition before signing it. Seriously, either they think we are the most ignorant people on the Earth… else they are for thinking that we will buy into this. But really, we need to quit with the academia worship. Evidently, a person can get a law degree from either Harvard or Yale and not be so smart in the way of common sense. It makes one wonder just how many functionally ignorant people are out there who draw good salaries that don’t really do anything for society in the that could be measured in useful production.

Sounds sorta like the govt. inventing the aids virus to kill black people.

Whatever one thinks of Glenn Beck, what he is doing is standing up to a bully and not backing down. The bullies will always fold first, because they have nothing else to stand on but their tactics. Heavy on push, light on facts.

When you read and participate in blogs, there inevitably pop up a few names that you’d really like to meet the people behind. Martha, you are one of those for me. Your comments are insightful and your experiences inspirational. Thank you for sharing a part of yourself.

THIS is the conversation we should have been having all along–the dialogue about race 0 promised us with his tingly b#tt-covering speech all those months ago. At least NQ bloggers are brave enough to have it. Imagine where we’d be now if the country had been talking like this since then and 0 quit playing the race card.

I’m just curious, Katmoon. What was the big deal about Tzada making an off-topic post? I didn’t go to her link, as there were already 170 posts before her. I see off-topic links here all the time.

She wasn’t being condescending to YOU, it was the other way around.
She was being a smart ass to YOUR dictatorial comment.

Jesus. People are trying to come here to talk about topics that we have common interests in.
Why be bossy to your fellow bloggers?

And “kidd gloves” ? You are so rude that you wouldn’t know how to wear them.

Are you the President of this site, katmoon?
    Just asking.

  • Tammy

Obviously, you never watch Glenn Beck’s show. You sound like a typical Beck hater:
“The MSM told me that he’s crazy, so I won’t watch and take their word for it”.

I’ve listened to him on the radio for at least 15 years. I know, the media doesn’t care about the people listening in the “flyover zone”.

This man is searching for the truth, which is something that has been abandoned by the media ever since the “Anointed One” took office.

    But go back to hearsay.
It’s easier to live with than the truth.

  • NomNomNom

Incorrect. I watch all of these clowns from time to time just to know what they’re saying, as well as read the miserable msm websites, though that’s nowhere near all the news I read.
btw Glenn Beck is part of the msm.

    I’m sorry the guy resigned.
    He was a wonderful gift.
Every time he opened his mouth, he proved that Yale Law graduation has nothing to do with brains.

  • Tammy

    That is SOO damn true.
So I graduate from a college that isn’t YALE, and I’m an idiot?
Guess who really are the idiots: The elites, no matter what color they are. Yale, Harvard, etc.

You are proving to the American people every day that you think that you are SUPERIOR to us.

    Umm….that is a BIG mistake.

  • NomNomNom

oh bullshit, I didn’t advocate killing anyone; I pointed out that those who have seized control of our government are not going to give it up their authority voluntarily.
you can ban whoever you like on your own blog.

  • Chris

Seems to me also that the American Civil War was fought to abolish slavery (in part anyway. I know this is disputed somewhat)and free black Americans. I believe it was fought mainly by white soldiers on both sides. This country paid the price in many lives for this. Everything is not perfect in racial relationshps, but we have made a lot of progress. Until that is, this last election. The black politicians and the powers behind OB have thrown the “race card” full up on the table again for their own devious purposes. It is so disgraceful to hear it pop up again and again in regards to Obama and his hangers on. There is as much or more racism towards whites exhibited by blacks in power today and it is excused or ignored by the media etc. I am saddened first, but am getting angrier that this keeps happening. So typical of all this is Van Jones making the excuse that he was victim of a smear campaign instead of admitting and apologizing for his obvious guilt. His numerous speeches on video are clear evidence, but he falls back on the race card and the msm lets him get away with it. Very, very typical of what we have to deal with in this god awful administration.

  • Tammy

    Beck is on cable.
The MSM is CBS, NBC, and CBS.

    Ate least get THAT right.

  • Tammy

Oh, and watching them “from time to time” makes you an expert?
Stop whining about Beck and actually DO something.

Like , stop blaming people for YOUR failure and the failure of “your community”
    whatever that means.

  • OxyCon

Reading the KOS Krap just reinforces the study that was done which showed that conservatives are much happier then liberals. I’m so glad I gave up reading left wing blogs. Those people are the scum of the Earth.

  • PainkillerJayne

Sorry, I have to weigh in on this one.

I have the utmost respect for the bloggers who post diaries, and i try to stick to the topic, but I find it equally informing to have someone post a breaking news story in a topic unrelated.

    It’s how we roll.

    Up to the minute.

I don’t have time to search the internet, but by gawd I get more stories here than anywhere.

    Just my two cents.

The apologists at Daily KOS are acting like domestically abused people excusing the behavior of their spouses when the police are called in to intervene.

    ObamaCzar Advocating Genocide against Americans?

On 10 June 2008 at the National Conference for Media Reform (NCMR) in Minneapolis, MN, the now Obama FCC “Diversity” Czar Mark Lloyd spoke for the “Leadership Conference on Civil Rights.” Thanks to Glenn Beck, this chilling two-part video on the benefits of using the media to more quickly accomplish one’s goals to oppress and subjugate a country and its people (aka “social change”) has been brought into the light of day.
Use media to silence and then end free speech
In Part 1 of the NCMR video, Marxist Lloyd (one of the most radical of the Obama appointed Czars) outlines how the willing media can and should be used against government opposition, in order to silence and then end free speech. That is chilling enough. But, wait folks. It gets worse—much, much worse. This one may make you physically ill.
In one of the most terrifying messages yet from an Obama (not the United States) Government, current Obama Czar Lloyd talks about the Rwandan Hutu’s (he calls the Hutus “one tribe”) use of its media in order to affect “social change” via genocide. Note: Approximately 800,000 Tutsis were slaughtered in 100 days.
Lloyd initially speaks casually and then exhibits smiles as he continues when he says: “State radio in Rwanda was taken over by one tribe-one group-and they began to put out propaganda so that the Tutsis were targeted. And what resulted…was essentially genocide in Rwanda.

have I ever rubbed anyones face in racism before? No! Infact i’ve always remembered the wonderful Jewish and white people that faught for civil rights. I have never deminished anything those people did, so i become very pissed off when you diminished what people who lived under segregation and slavery went through. IF i can judge each indiividual based on the content of their character I expect the same in return.

  • Arabella Trefoil

You sound like an angry little girl.

  • kgirl1028

LOL, Chill the heck out. I was responding to the notion that AFrican Americans had nothing to loose in Civil Rights era. I thought the remark was insulting and petty. I don’t think it’s far to judge my parents and grand parents by the action of people like van jones. Not all black people are ungreatful, nor are we all hung up on color. But we don’t like what our ancestors and their struggles being diministed any more than you do.

I admirae single mothers of all races. Martha i view you no differently than i do my aunts whose husbands decided they didn’t want to change diapers anymore after three children. Our family pitched in and made sure they didn’t have to go on welfare either, thats what family is for. Hell one of my favorite presidents was raised by a single white mother. William Jefferson CLinton Anyone. And i hold that woman in the same esteem I do the black single mother of my childhood hero Ben Carson. It’s one the reason i support social programs. sO that if you really need something for your children it’s there to help you out. If you choose not to take it makes you even more amazing and worthy of praise. It’s why i’ve always have been for gay rights, I don’t see a difference between a lynching in the South in the early nineteen hundreds and what happen to Andrew Shephard.

I don’ believe in racial tolerence I believe in exceptance, because you only tolerate people you don’t like. I velieve in judging people based on who they are, and what they do not by sex, race or sexual preference. And since i am not African American who screams racism when i can’t get my way and i am livid with those who do, So please don’t lecture me about racially charged language to take away from my point. What i’m saying if is don’t diminish what my ancestors went through because i would never do the same to yours. I admire most americans we are the prodgeny of the best of the best. People who sailed over the oceans in cramped and sometimes inhuman conditions and yet we made it. Stop allowing Barack Obama, whose ancestors sold slaves verse actually being slaves, reduce us to petty racial aguments.

I live my life based on the principle of treating others the way i want to be treated.Ninetimes out of ten unless i’m royally pissed, i think about what i say before i say it. Not out of politically correctness, but because i truly don’t like to hurt anyones fellings or make them feel badly. It’s happened far to much in my life (with things that had nothing to do with race) and i loath to do the same to others. So i’m not shy about saying those blanket statements about African Americans hurt my feelings especially since i would NOT allow the same to be said about you. DOn’t diminish the accomplishments, the struggles and work of good people just because their decendents are a bunch of race baiting fools.

  • Ferd Berfle

I’m sorry if I offended you and please don’t take this personally, but you inferred that 1) Those of us engaging in the discussion might have been indulging in racism and 2) We were on high horses.

Neither are true. The commentaries above are rife with facts, which are suitable topics for argument. If you disagree with them, argue about them, but don’t summarily dismiss them as racist simply because they don’t reflect your views.

  • Ferd Berfle

ferd came across a radio clip last night from mark levin who i dont normally agree with but this had me roflol i paraphrase;keithie had named levin his worst person of the year back in 2007 so levin the next night first called keithies producer and told them they might want to listen.at this point levin started quoting various news stories and a blog written by one of keithies one night stands and refering repeatedly to keithie being hung like a thumbtack and having limpnoodle disorder along with the fact it appears that keithie has a lot of one night stands and then basically throws the woman under the bus.levin also talked abouth keithie being in physcotherapy and on several occasions being found under his desk and refusing to go on the air.levin repeatedly dared keithie to sue levin as levin would relish discovery of keithies emails.needless to say i was rolling.

Love Beck’s willingness to dig DEEPER than MOST would ever bother! He’s been at the bottom so realizes he can survive if he “dies in media” like Sarah says if “she dies politically, she dies” do be it!

wrong again. msm is any media to which large segments of the population have access

and when some clown says Hillary Clinton is the antichrist, yeah, he’s a moron. He’s been saying equally stupid things for years and anyone who needs Glenn Beck to tell them what to think or uses him to confirm what they think is equally a moron.

you have no idea what I do or don’t do, and I’ll post my opinion on Beck whenever I f#cking feel like it, @sshat, and there’s not sh#t-all you can do about it.

I didn’t mention anything about my community in my post, so I have no idea wtf you are babbling about. Suggest you lay off the crack.

  • http://firefox Martha Washington Collier

Our local crappy paper, The Monterey Herald, gave a single 2″ column to Van Jones resignation on page 7.

Front page? The local Greek Festival. Letter to the Editor…suggesting that Obama “get tough” and that he occupies the “throne” of Washington and Jefferson. Huh? Oh, yes, the writer informed us that Obama is black and that he defeated the best of what could be thrown at him.

That’s what we have for our MSM…and the local tee vee news is no better.

  • http://www.lesstalkmoreactivism.blogspot.com whoframedrudy

Daily Kult won’t learn the lesson here. This is what happens to an ultra-leftist when he gets the taste of power. Jones didn’t say, ‘Yes, dammit, I’m a Communist!’ He denied his Marxist ideals to try to keep power.

Obama fought hard to get power. Now, he’s not fighting for universal health care. He’s fighting to stay in power. And there’s no better example of this than the Kos kult. They don’t really care about war, torture, racism, or healthcare. They just want to exploit social ills as a pathway to power.

  • Lana

Thank you, Ferd. And I totally agree with your elaboration. BTW, you, too are one of my NQ “must-reads.” Thanks for your many insightful comments.

  • VinceP

That’s a classic clip. I think it’s about a year or two old now.

Have you noticed the absence of Mark Levin from being WPITW the past year?

  • Ferd Berfle

Thanks Don and Vince for the info. I love his “Keith Overbite” page.

    ROFLMAO

    Hahahahaha

  • FranSC

I have never seen it!! I don’t even understand why “He’s such a great speaker” ever caught on. Even people that know better say this. WHAT ARE THEY TALKING ABOUT??? So, he can read! Why is that so great for a Harvard graduate? He certainly ought to be able to read.

This is patronizing – of the worst order. If I were either one of the 0bamas, I would be highly insulted that I am receiving the same kind of patronizing that children and old people receive for merely breathing. In their case they receive the patronizing because they are AA. Why do they not see this and rail against it?

  • FranSC

The reason the calls of racism has so caught on after the election is AA’s think that is the reason 0 was able to be elected. Geraldine Farrar said during the election that David Axelrod used the same race-baiting tactics in Duval Patrick’s campaign for governor. They think this is working for them, obviously.

Today, Rev Wright was asked what he thought about how health care was going. He said something like, “The racists are trying to keep poor Americans from having health care.” God Almighty! What have we come to?

I can tell you I have been set back on my heels by this type of offensiveness. And to think my main reason for being interested and involved in politics from my Jr. High School days on was my inate belief in equality for all people and a keen sensitivity of injustice suffered by AA’s. I did my part in helping them fight their battles of racial discrimination. And this is the thanks we all get for that?

I will be voting against everyone of them until this kind of black power, nationalists freaks are out of the picture. Equality is one thing. This is quite another.

  • FranSC

You’re right, beebop, that dog is not going to hunt. Valerie indeed was thrilled to be introducing this most questionable WH appointee. She knows this man well – since “Oakland”, she said. She and BOTH 0bamas are thick as thieves. She and her husband went on vacation with the 0′s to Martha’s Vineyard last week. Now that takes close friends. These three people are as radical as there are in this country. They just dress and speak well. That’s the only difference in them and those black power people threatening voters on election day whose case was dismissed by 0bama’s AA AG. It is no wonder that AA’s think this is their chance to right all the wrongs they’ve suffered for 200 years.

  • FranSC

And, I realized the other night that I should not use VJ. That could be Van Jones OR Valerie Jarrett – both prime players in last week’s great victory for all of us who have been desperately trying to explain ourselves to those who voted and have continued to defend this most undeserving POTUS.
