Czars, Czars Everywhere, not a Czar to Vet

Van Jones did not fill out the Questionnaire. Major Garrett (see video below) offers either Van Jones was not high ranking enough to fill out the questionnaire or that the vetting process broke down. Why are we, the tax payers paying these Czars if they are not high ranking and don’t have Obama’s attention? Me thinks there was no vetting because they thought they could get away with it.

May be he didn’t need to fill out the questionnaire despite being a high ranking official. Watch Krauthammer say why.

This is what Jarrett said about Van Jones in Politico:

Obama confidante Valerie Jarrett echoed that praise to a cheering crowd at the Netroots Nation convention this summer. “Van Jones, we were so delighted to be able to recruit him into the White House, we have been watching him really…for as long as he’s been active out in Oakland… and all of the creative ideas that he has… and now we have all of that energy and enthusiasm in the White House,” Jarrett said.

Apparently, she does not find Van Jones’ past disturbing just as Obama does not find Ayers’ past disconcerting. Maybe the Van Jones and Ayers are all just too “outspoken” for genteel republicans.

Setting aside his troubling past, what was Van Jones’ accomplishments that warranted him to become “green jobs” Czar? Was he ‘green’ at it much like his boss? (Sorry, could not resist.) For the record, liberals like Violet at Reclusive Leftist seem to like Van Jones, A LOT and think that is who we need in the White House advising the president. What surprises me is why we can’t get a good liberal who will not also give ammunition to people like Glenn Beck. Is that too much to ask? Or if people like Violet think Van Jones is what we need, why can’t Obama appoint him to a cabinet position? Give him a department and a budget to do all the fabulous things only he can do and stand by his appointment without caving in to the likes of Beck. Why the backdoor, Czardom? Is that because these people won’t be able to stand the scrutiny of a hard vetting but are still being tapped to be power brokers/mongers?

How many other czars are there?

Here is an article from a non-profit organization called Taxpayers for Common Sense that gives details about Obama’s Czars. As of July 02, 2009 when this article was written, there are 31 Czars in the Obama administration.

Glenn Beck who was partly instrumental in ‘vetting’ Van Jones (after the fact, of course) is one happy guy — his career is made — one down and at least thirty more Czars to go. If he is not rational or sane, why are the liberals letting him set the tone of discourse?

People who voted for Obama overlooked his troublesome associations and will now want to stay silent or make excuses or worse, whine when chicken come home to roost in the White House with all his less than stellar appointments.

What next? Ayers for Education Czar? Sure, he has already been vetted and pre-approved. Obama confidante, Jarrett will again say, “we have been watching him really,…for as long as he’s been active out” in Chicago, without batting an eyelid.

As for Obama appointing Jones…birds of a feather flock together, they always say.

Obama and his gang can do as they please. They won!

It was Senator Robert Byrd who first raised serious concerns about Obama’s plethora of czars in February:

“The rapid and easy accumulation of power by White House staff can threaten the Constitutional system of checks and balances,” Byrd wrote in a letter to Obama. “At the worst, White House staff have taken direction and control of programmatic areas that are the statutory responsibility of Senate-confirmed officials.”
“Too often, I have seen these lines of authority and responsibility become tangled and blurred, sometimes purposely, to shield information and to obscure the decision-making process,” Byrd wrote.

  • Arabella Trefoil

No Obama and his gang can’t do what they please. That’s why there is supposed to be a system of vetting. Obama breezily seeks to bypass the system on confirmation hearings by giving people titles like “Czar” and “Princess of Power” or what have you.

No one vetted Obama and he conned America with his deception. Then he tries to pass off these czars as experienced in their various fields, all the while milking the taxpayers of our hard earned money and providing them with important top secret information about our country’s affairs and issues. Van Jones was/is a radical hater of America who held a vigil on 9/12/01 with sympathy for muslims because of what he termed “American Imperialism”.

  • Peggy Sue

From what I heard none of these czars were required to go through the normal vetting process. So, agree with you, pm, this was a cagey way to scoot people into positions who would never have passed a normal vetting. And they figured no one would find out. I heard Jarret on tape saying she and the Administration had been watching Van Jones for quite some time.

    There’s the admission right there.

So, it behooves everyone–right and left–to make sure these “advisors” are up to snuff. Signing a truther statement is one thing. Being a self-proclaimed Marxist and anarchist is whole different ballgame, or making statements that white farmers had intentionally sprayed “our black and brown brothers” with pesticides.

I don’t care what kind of degree the man has, he’s on the fringe. Comments like that are reminiscent of Rev. Wright. I wouldn’t want him on the government payroll either.

Good article, pm. And racism does not work on this one or the “crazy uncle” line. I’m not a big fan of Glenn Beck, but good for him that he called this one out.

  • Kim

    LOL!!

  • http://firefox Martha Washington Collier

Charles Krauthammer is so right. Radicals on the left in particular do tend to hang together and believe they are the center of the world.

I don’t believe they think that is the way the right wing operates…whenever there’s criticism, there’s always a leftie who thinks that the comments are coming from a diabolical right winger posing as a disillusioned Obama voter. They just can’t grasp that some were not as rabid as they are, got caught up in the hoopla, and are finally rethinking their choice.

Another thing I despise is the way BO appointed people to do Hillary’s job, report directly to him, and undermine her authority especially in the Middle East.

It just seems to me that if O was able to get all these czars in place with no real comment by the press or the public, until now, we better all encourage Glen Beck (like him or not) to get some bullet proof clothing and to hire some guards.

Good one, AGI. Saw it earlier in the memorandum.

I think Jarrett is very bad news for Obama. But Obama is bad news for us (we don’t need Beck to tell us that). I wonder, is this what he was talking about during the campaign about hiring a bunch of advisers and they will do all his thinking for him.

    BORN IN THE USA?
Shocker! Judge orders trial on eligibility issue
Arguments planned Jan. 11 for challenge to Obama

    ——————————————————————————–

A California judge today tentatively scheduled a trial for Jan. 26, 2010, for a case that challenges Barack Obama’s eligibility to be president based on questions over his qualifications under the requirements of the U.S. Constitution.

If the case actually goes to arguments before U.S. District Judge David Carter, it will be the first time the merits of the dispute have been argued in open court, according to one of the attorneys working on the issue.

In a highly anticipated hearing today before Carter, several motions were heard, including a resolution to long-standing questions about whether attorney Orly Taitz properly served notice on the defendants, which she had.

In a second ruling, Carter ordered that attorney Gary Kreep of the United States Justice Foundation can be added to the case to represent defendants Wiley Drake and Markham Robinson, who had been removed by an earlier court order. Drake, the vice presidential candidate for the American Independent Party, and Robinson, the party’s chairman, were restored as plaintiffs.

But the judge did not immediately rule on Taitz’ motion to be granted discovery – that is the right to see the president’s still-concealed records. Nor did Carter rule immediately on a motion to dismiss the case, submitted by the U.S. government, following discussion over Taitz’ challenge to the work of a magistrate in the case.

Carter ordered a hearing Oct. 5 on the motion to dismiss and ordered arguments submitted on the issue of discovery.

If the case survives that challenge, a pretrial hearing has been scheduled for Jan. 11 and the trial for two weeks later.

    More to come…

  • d2i

o/t – folks the Judge in California made its ruling just now. Go to WND to learn his ruling. NQ blocked my last post.

The sad thing is that Beck is the ONLY media person calling these people out.
Beck annoys me, but at least he’s not backing down. He’s doing the work that journalists USED to do.

This phony Obama rode in on a trojan horse, and we’re only just beginning to find out what’s inside that horse.

  • Ferd Berfle

Setting aside his troubling past, what was Van Jones’ accomplishments that warranted him to become “green jobs” Czar?

    Excellent question.

Nothing. He was a community organizer, which is a far cry from a background in the hard sciences. Just what the hell does a community organizer do? I certainly don’t see the people being organized get much in return.

  • Tammy

    Diana:
He has a security force that is equal to the secret service. His life is under constant threat.

Sad, isn’t it? That someone has to risk their life to tell the truth?
What the hell has our country come to?

The MSM has already had their jobs threatened. I have friends who work in the “business” who have told me.
Why do you think they won’t touch anything about Obama and resort to calling average americans “KKK, mobs, terrorists”?

  • Tammy

These “organizers” get paid $10 an hour to get onto buses, show up at a corporation du jour, and stand outside protesting.

After they’re paid, they’re dumped back into the unemployment line.

That’s pretty much the MO of organizing.
    Does it help “The People”?

    Hell, no!

  • cathnealon

Jones called this a “smear campaign’ against him in his resignation. What?? His racist, Marxist rants are on video–and this Valerie Jarrett is another Bernadine Dohrn, just as radical–in fact, show me one person within a hundred yards of BO in the last 22 years that’s not a creepy revolutionary.

  • oowawa

Just what the hell does a community organizer do? I certainly don’t see the people being organized get much in return.

Good question Ferd. I would like to rephrase it a bit: “What is the difference between a ‘community organizer’ and a ‘rabble rouser’? (I know I should ask Reverend Amy.)
Well, the Online Free Dictionary says a ‘rabble rouser’ is “A leader or speaker who stirs up the passions of the masses; a demagogue.” Well, that kind of sounds like a couple of “community organizers” I can think of. The Urban Dictionary says a rr is: “One who starts trouble,” and gives this example: “Don’t invite that kid to a party; he’s a real rabble rouser.” Hmmmmm . . . now if we think of “party” as being the Democratic Party, I think we’re really on to something . . .

  • Carmen

I am so SICK of the media acting stupid about Obama’s blatent disregard of the constitution. Czars can ONLY be appointed to ADVISE. The moment they have ANY influence, or ANY control, their role changes, and they must be approved by the senate.
    Period, end of story.
Major works for Fox for God’s sake, he could walk right over and ask Glenn, why he continues to sit in the press conferences, and not ask questions of Gibbs about this is too much to keep overlooking. We know why the others do not, but there is no excuse for him not to. Glenn would give his left ball to get at Gibbs. Maybe Fox is afraid if they get tough they will be kicked out, I dont know.

Not exactly. There is still a chance it could get thrown out. They have a hearing on Oct. 15th I think where he will rule on the motion to dismiss by the justice dept. and Orly’s request for pre-trial discovery.
That is all she needs. If she gets discovery that is the ballgame.
If he does not throw it out then, then Obama is cooked. Where are his high priced lawyers? Why is the DOJ in on this now?
The best thing about this judge is that he was a Marine so he is actually following his oath, and the constitution. Obama could be in trouble with this guy.

  • Ferd Berfle

Evening (or afternoon there), oowawa. That Urban Dictionary is on point about starting trouble.

Hmmmmm . . . now if we think of “party” as being the Democratic Party, I think we’re really on to something . . .

Indeed. However, that would be the former Democratic party, now the obamacrat party led by a talentless, tone-deaf talking mule that can’t seem to keep a hoof out of its mouth and a cast of millions of non-thinking extras with bits parts in the single-act (4 long years) play.

  • jbjd

I assume you are being facetious but, even so, let me point out, ‘they’ cannot ‘win’ by Certifying to state elections officials BO is Constitutionally eligible for the job of POTUS to get his name printed on the general election ballot, before ascertaining whether he is a NBC. In states that only entitle the qualified nominee a spot on the ballot, such conduct constitutes election fraud. Exactly, Ferd. The whole concept of “political party” just doesn’t resonate with me anymore. And out of these ashes is born . . . what? I don’t know.

  • hokma

The last time I saw such an aggressive grab for executive power was Nixon in his second term and, aside from the illegalities, was nothing compared to what Obama is doing in his first six months.

  • Ferd Berfle

The whole concept of “political party” just doesn’t resonate with me anymore.

I agree. When I was young and impressionable, being part of the party system, first as a Republican and then as a Democrat, made me feel as though I was making some sort of contribution. Over the years, however, I drifted away from both of them. They were too dogmatic, too concerned with maintaining their power, and not interested in transparency and truth. Like you, I have no idea what will happen next, but it should be interesting. Fisticuffs in Congress?

  • oowawa

    Fisticuffs in Congress?

I hope so. Time to cut through the rhetoric. And in the International Ring, I can’t wait for the big Kid Vlad Putin-Sugar Barry Obama matchup.

  • Diana L. C.

The point I read that frightens me is that O’s lawyers are saying it should be thrown out because no one can prove they’ve been harmed by having him as president. How does one prove that. It appears Hillary would be the only one who could show any real (financial) harm. Has she recovered all her campaign debt?

I am not hopeful this will move forward; but it bothers me to no end that people ignore his lack of transparency in this regard.

  • Ferd Berfle

And in the International Ring, I can’t wait for the big Kid Vlad Putin-Sugar Barry Obama matchup.

    LMAO.

    Barry: “Where?” (looking around excitedly)

Oh, that’s funny Ferd. I’m feeling better about this politics thing already.

It should require “prima facie” evidence–immediately clear and sufficient to establish a fact. If not, the Constitution will have suffered damages–if Corporations (established by document) can be treated as people so then the Constitution (a document)can also be a fictitious person for this purpose.

Read the other day that the Saudis own 17% of the company that owns FOX News. If they can gain more, to be sure they will use every means to get it.

Also if FOX does not try and give a somewhat balanced reporting then while they are now the “good guys” who knows that they could one day become just the opposite. Mr Murdoch’s son had an article written the other day and he appears to be firmly against government censorship in Britain. Murdoch Sr daughter I had read was an Obama supporter. So who knows?

It is as the stomach churns time, or like the Chinese curse they wish their enemies to live in interesting times. Wonder how long that Chinese flag will fly at the WH and will all those 1000 people who come to celebrate actually go home?

Does it have to be “financial” loss? Because Hillary wouldn’t have “lost” had he been ruled ineligible and not allowed to run, because he could’t have pulled all the caucus and RBC shennanigans if he were out. If he hadn’t been running, he couldn’t have played the race baiting game over and over again and stolen all of her black voters.

I would so much love to be a fly on the wall when Bill and Hillary are discussing “current events”….

And how hypocritical – when the RBC gave Obama the Michigan delegates when he intentionally was not even on the ballot and STOLE some of her delegates to give to him, no one had to prove their reasoning. They said “undoubtedly, some of these voters would have voted for Obama, so let’s give them ALL to him, and even some of Hillary’s”. Did anyone have to prove this to justify the theft? (No.) But this judge wants it proven that his eligibility issue might have hurt others… sheesh

  • Peggy Sue

Yes, that too, Ferd. Which only gives people more pause about this Administration and its agenda. I can’t even tell you who Barack Obama is, what his vision might be. And now, we have these shadowy advisors running around?

Once you lose the public’s trust, it’s an uphill battle. People have woken up, and they simply don’t like what they see.

  • donjo

Rachel Maddow did a good job tonight of debunking all these “czar” myths. Basically this is a title imposed by the press as a “shortcut” for a job with a really long name, such as Assistant Secretary to the Left-leaning Sychophants of the Worst Order and Housed in the Basement of the White House.

Many of these positions now being vilified by both right and left were created by Chimpy and some even go back to the Nixon and Clinton eras. They are, in general, far removed from the Russian idea of “czar,” but, instead are just another layer of D.C. bureaucracy.

Basically, it’s “move along folks. Nothing to see here.”

What it does show, though, is that Glenn Beck is essentially out of his mind.

I applaud Beck for doing something so courageous and for not backing down in the face of threats, intimidation and boycotts.
Loony? Yes, perhaps, but only the shallowest of people and those with an agenda choose to harp on that aspect of Beck, and they refuse to listen to what he’s warning us about in this Administration.
He’s far more American patriot than loon and there should be more shouting what he’s spouting!

Where is the media calling out those who created this financial mess to be put in jail. Those that cooked the books at Freddie Mac are still walking the streets with only having to repay a pittance of what they stole from the tax payers. But lets bang a drum on some “supposed communist” as some public enemy number one.

You all are falling for it again. Letting the smoke screen media protect those who own them while we give them kudos for a smoke screen job well done. Yes it is an outrage that some adviser to the president didn’t fill out a questionnaire. But I guess it is OK for other Freddie Mac CEO’s and the Haliburtons of this country to rob the treasury.

  • donjo

Works both ways. Apparently you haven’t heard Maddow, who bothered to look up the exact job title, rather than resort to the typical smears.
NONE of the above jobs is actually listed as a “CZAR,” which is a name bestowed by a lazy press – and people looking for something to bitch about.

  • Katmoon

I’ve heard maddow and wouldn’t bother to ever let her face grace my television again. And for reference, the job description is what I believe Senator Byrd is objecting to-he is discussing the substance of the positions; which all should fall under Senate confirmation- not circumvention.

  • pm317

Read the article I linked. It gives you more accurate info than Maddow would ever tell you. Whether we call them Czar or not (that is a shallow thing to talk about anyway), they are outside the confines of what constitution allows them. It is ok to have a few on pressing matters but this guy has turned it on its head to install a shadow government and back channel to K-street lobbyists.

But of course, if you want to listen to Maddow and feel comforted in your Koolaid stupor, be my guest. But don’t bring your idiocy here.

  • donjo

Typical. Call anyone who disagrees with you stupid or a kool aid drinker. What does that make you? A right-wing fascist prick? IF you bother to read something that disagrees with you, then you would find that some of these posts ARE confirmed by the Senate. Don’t blame me for starting them, I don’t like them, either. But, I’m just tired of people falling for the MSM and leftish use of the word “Czar” to diminish positions that may or may not be legitimate. I’m sure some of them are and some probably not. But I don’t work in D.C. so that’s not for me to decide.

I don’t like to see these “jobs” if their purpose is cronyism, nepotism, or just a way to give a buddy some work. However, what I see going on here is an attempt to paint everything with the same broad brush.

  • Katmoon

It’s a good spreadsheet pm, gives the titles and location and further information on whom they report to etc. Thanks for referring to it.

The Obamas got by with NO EXPERIENCE, NO QUALIFICATIONS except their cries of “pick me anyway”, so they want to pick other unqualified people and try to get away with it as often as possible. It worked for them, so to speak. America was CONNED CONNED CONNED by the O’s, a bigger con than Bernie Madoff perpetrated on his victims.

We have written about those issues too. As the name of our blog suggests, we spare no one, we give no quarter.

I can’t even tell you who Barack Obama is, what his vision might be. And now, we have these shadowy advisors running around?

That is the most serious concern I have about That One. He is so secretive about his past. No real friends apparently (or at least none that will talk). He says he has done all sorts of things but no objective evidence is available to confirm or deny such statements. HE claims to be a scholar but has no records to prove it. And who can go through life and not make enough of an impression to at least merit some sort of memory from someone/anyone? There is something way out of whack here.

The spamminator has nabbed my comment. Can an administrator please return it to me?

Please don’t waste your arrogance on me. I’m sure you can find someone more deserving of your illustrious attention. Your comments remind me of that old quote, “A legend in his own mind.”

No, I think sometimes there is maybe some assumption so a full read isn’t done and also believe there is some problems with people recruiting from this site. A couple days ago we had the issue of a previous member doing this.

    problem, not problems..sorry
