FACT CHECK: Lying Is Not A Core American Value

According to the official Barack Obama campaign, “Barack speaks to voters about the core values this nation was founded on and how they have guided him to work hard for his education” in his advertisement entitled “The Country I Love.” One wonders if lying is one of these “core values,” for Obama states in second 47 of this advertisement that he “passed laws,” including a law that “extended health care for wounded troops.”
But Obama did not pass this law. He did not even sponsor or cosponsor it.
In fact, he missed the 22 January 2008 roll call vote on “Public Law 110-181“, otherwise known as HR 4986, the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2008, which was signed into law by President George Bush and not by the absent Senator Obama on 28 January 2008. Barack Obama will do and say anything in order to win an election. He will even disrespect our men and women in uniform by claiming he passed a law on which he did not even cast a vote.
Because lying is not a “core American value,” Obama should pull the ad and issue an official apology to our troops and to the American people.
