Unless you have lived outside the U.S. you would not be aware of the opinions of other countries of Americans, and therefore the effect on their foreign policy. I live in California. I hear constant inquiries from abroad about my burning up, covered by mudslides or rattled to death by earthquakes. In the same way, the media crazies who get coverage here get the same coverage abroad. Most Americans know that the guy in the mob with the misspelled sign doesn't represent them, but that is what represents us abroad. A lot of other countries believe Americans act violently and irrationally because of what they have seen and been told. That makes them afraid of the U.S. That's just a fact.
