The Democratic Party Surrenders The Moral High Ground

I have called myself a Democrat since I was old enough to vote. Never in 30 years have I voted for a Republican. Any Republican. That I, a big city girl and a lefty-liberal from way back, am planning on doing so this November for the first time in my life should give many in the Democratic Party elite cause to worry.

Despite some in the DNC carrying the water for the Obama campaign’s talking point that those unwilling to vote for Senator Obama must be racist, and a complicit media spreading this lie across the land like a filthy virus for reasons of their own, the truth of the matter is something they seem loathe to acknowledge.

People of good conscience who care neither about a person’s race, gender or age are concerned with far more important matters in choosing our President: a person’s character, solid leadership skills and a consistent record – or that they have any record at all. We are not concerned about bowling or bourbon shots. We could give a damn about pantsuits or logos.

We are in a mess in this country and we need a wise, experienced hand to lead us forward, not a puppet king. Those who have been around the block are not concerned with electing American Idol. We don’t need someone whose inexperience is only outweighed by his arrogance and disingenuous behavior. 300 million in this great nation have already experienced a similar debacle these past eight years with very unfortunate results.

Witness Nancy Pelosi’s June 24th interview with Greta Van Susteren of FOX News (videos):

Basically, when the Speaker of the House sits with a smile plastered on her face, pretending that we have a united party and does not give so much as a nod to 18 million disaffected Clinton voters, I have to wonder in what rarified air she encapsulates herself that a reality of this magnitude escapes her.

When the best thing Speaker Pelosi can say to counter Ms. Van Susteren’s concerns about Senator Obama’s inexperience or flip-flopping on critical policy questions is that he is “fresh” – well, forgive me, but this sounds like a feminine hygiene commercial, not a campaign talking point. Likewise, Pelosi states that Senator Obama’s lack of experience is one of his best selling points. Wake me. I must be dreaming. She as much as admitted the DNC wants a blank slate, i.e., a pawn to do their bidding. I would think his supporters would likewise find this as insulting as those who did not vote for him in the first place.

We are talking about electing Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces and leader of the free world. Fresh? How about this one – “he’s a Washington outsider” – perhaps, but he is a Chicago Insider and has shown himself, along with David Axelrod and his surrogates, to be capable of and comfortable with the nastiest tactics ever devised by Mayor Daley’s corrupt political machine. Of the many disturbing occurrences in this primary cycle, the loss of fair reflection and the casting aside of democracy at the Rules & Credentials Committee meeting of May 31st is just one in a series of great disappointments. Other parts of this debacle have been discussed ad nauseum and I will not repeat them here.

For years, I stood in lock step with the DNC, despite their inability to choose winning candidates, despite the seeming spinelessness of some of their actions in Congress. I did so because I naively believe they were the party of the working man and woman. I used to refer to Republicans as the “Hooray for me, f*ck you, party.”

Forgive me, Republicans. I take it back. I know better now. You and I may never agree on an agenda. We may not see eye to eye on most things, but gone are the days I will feel like I am committing a crime just for checking out John McCain’s website. Gone are the days I will scream from the highest hill about the fixing of Florida in 2000 and Ohio in 2004. That these things did happen is not up for debate in my book.

But that Democrats have proven themselves just as capable of shenanigans as the Republicans has broken my naïve heart and I will not be won back by cheap promises or threats. It is for this reason I have left the party and registered as an Independent.

With the exclusion of some truly honorable public servants in our legislature, lately I have come to believe that the enmity between Democrats and Republicans is so much posturing, while party insiders, and that includes Senator Obama, just scream loudly on the Senate floor, yet kick the can down the road, without passing effective legislation that will really be of assistance to those most in need of it.

My friends and I did not spends days upon days at call centers getting out the vote in 2006 so that Democrats could take back Congress only to have Speaker Pelosi announce that “impeachment is off the table.”

Ironically, while Pelosi’s argument for selecting Obama is that he is “fresh,” he and the Democratic leadership have taken to threatening us with the overturning of Roe vs. Wade, reactionary SCOTUS appointments, and a “100 year war in Iraq” in order to force our hands and get us to vote for their chosen messiah. Talk about employing the nuclear option.

I believe in attraction rather than promotion and I certainly do not believe in negative reinforcement the likes of, as a fellow traveler so eloquently put it, “the beatings will continue until morale improves.” Why the hell would any sensible person return to a party that invites them with nothing yet threatens them with the loss of their civil rights? Battered woman syndrome perhaps? Not something I suffer from, thanks.

Even the ultra conservative Justice Scalia has stated he would not overturn Roe vs. Wade as it would fly in the face of stare decisis; well settled law.

Furthermore, Republicans know that overturning this law would leave them without one of their favorite drums to beat at election time, and probably send them scurrying because the resulting uproar in this country would be uncontainable. Historically, Republican presidents have appointed conservative justices only to be disappointed by these judges’ rulings once they ascended to the bench. There is no barometer for how they will vote. My point – I will not be threatened into voting for anyone.

Does this behavior even sound like something Democrats would do? Does this sound like the party you thought you knew? If that is what the Democratic leadership is resorting to, then I tell you, just three weeks after they ‘anointed’ their candidate, they are very well aware he is in serious trouble.

But you get what you pay for and in shunning the clearly stronger candidate in this ultra-close nominating contest for packaging and a symbol, the DNC has backed itself into the unfortunate position of having to heap threats on top of deceit to keep the illusion alive.

If Senator Obama cannot step back from his out of control arrogance long enough even to acknowledge how much he needs the support of the large part of the Democratic base that has roundly rejected him with good reason, he has no hope of succeeding in this election. It would be wise for him to contain remarks like the one he made to Representative Diane Watson at a meeting of the Congressional Black Caucus last week when he indicated that Clinton’s voters should “get over it.”

If the DNC leadership insists on beating us down with threats and branding us falsely, or worse, insisting there is no problem to begin with, then this ‘no lose’ year for the Democrats will see them become the world’s laughing stock, having once again snatched defeat from the jaws of victory.

  • Big D

The London Telegraph reports a quote from Bill Clinton…Obama can kiss my ass if he wants my support…I love it.

  • roseeriter

Every thing you said is exactly the truth. But because no one can tell me how to vote I can’t vote for McCain or Obama. I just can’t do it.

I support the PUMAs. I now shun the Democratic Party as I shun the Republican Party. I’m voting Nader as a new Independent, unless by some quirk of fate Hillary gets the nod at the convention.

  • http://nobho.blogspot.com/ Johnny at Work

I voted for every Democrat in the Presidential Election since Jimmy Carter.

I want that one back to vote for Gerald Ford. I was just a naive college kid back then.

    Sound Familiar?

    No Way, No How, NoBAMA!!

  • http://nobho.blogspot.com/ Johnny at Work

If there was any doubt about Obama’s loyalty and patriotism to the United States, there can be none now.

Obama modified the Great Seal of the United States, as well as the Presidential Seal. He replaced the National Motto, and Shield which represent the unity of our nation, with his Rising Sun, and “Yes We Can”. While Obama’s symbols may bring inspiration for some, they are utterly ordinary next to those of the Founding Fathers.

The faux Presidential Seal may be retired from his campaign, but the modified Great Seal remains on the Obama website. http://www.barackobama.com/images/bg.jpg This image shows Obama’s Rising Sun over the US Shield and Flag which are pierced by an arrow. The eagle has dropped the olive branch and arrows, and has turned away in retreat.

On July 4, 1776, our first Independence Day, the Continental Congress passed a resolution authorizing a committee including Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, and John Adams to research and devise a National Seal and Motto for our Nation.

Obama has taken it upon himself to modify the Presidential Seal, and the Great Seal of the United States. He has replaced the symbols of the Unity of the States, Congress, Justice, Peace, and the Willingness to Defend them with “Yes We Can”.

Only a foreigner or miscreant with an utter lack of understanding and respect for the values of this nation would perform such sacrilege. A true Patriot would no sooner desecrate these symbols than set them aflame.

But Obama would, and has. Obama replaced the authority of the Continental Congress, and the wisdom of Franklin, Adams and Jefferson with his own egotistical values.

As we approach this July 4th it might be a good time to reflect on what these symbols mean to the heritage and values of our great Country. We should pause and think whether to have a man who would desecrate these symbols in the highest office in the Nation.

We should all say, No He Can’t!

  • ChumpedDemocrat

Ani, I have been reading your perceptive comments for some time and appreciate the way you have put the most important issues together in this essay. But even “if Obama could step back from his arrogance” long enough to acknowledge that he running for the Democratic presidency, and not the presidency of HIMSELF, a number of us in this household will never return, will never vote Democratic (even for very many down-ticket) for a long time. We number well more than 100 years of almost straight Party voting; we have been devoted to the ideals of the Democratic Party, if not so happy with some candidates.

When the leaders of any party force on us an UNQUALIFIED AND ILLEGITIMATE candidate, they ALL must be defeated. Period. WE HAVE REACHED THE POINT OF NO RETURN.

  • wodiej

    Wow!! Excellent Ani!!…..

“Basically, when the Speaker of the House sits with a smile plastered on her face, pretending that we have a united party and does not give so much as a nod to 18 million disaffected Clinton voters, I have to wonder in what rarified air she encapsulates herself that a reality of this magnitude escapes her.

  • Elizabeth

I am so disgusted with the Democrats. Now McCain’s service in the military is being attacked. What is wrong with people? Don’t they remember that terrorists beheaded Daniel Pearl? Don’t people have an understand for the hard facts of life. While McCain’s war record may not be the best, the man was tortured and lived in a prison camp. He has served this country for many more years then Obama. The absolute arrogance and people attacking him shows how out of touch people are with life and death. Let all the liberals put down Mccain saying being a POW was not a learning experience. Let all of them vote for Obama who is wet behind the ears. I am telling you I have lost faith in many liberals. They are caricatures of people. Let all these many of them young bloggers who have no idea what McCain went through attack him. The ignorant and inexperienced are so eagar to put down experience and substance and replace it with Hollywood empty glitter.

  • rjj

They surrendered nothing. They occupied a huge pile of bullshit with a “MORAL HIGH GROUND” sign.

  • wodiej

the actions of the DNC this year prove they are not intelligent nor do they deserve support. When the humiliation begins soon perhaps they will “get it” then.

  • Elizabeth

    Feminine hygiene commercial

    LOL

  • Ani

Agreed. Thank you so much for your comment.

  • fred

Please we need to show strength in numbers, signed the pledge to NOT vote for Obama in the General Election we have over 4200 signature we know there’s many many more not voting Obama we ask that you take a minute and sign this petition to send the MSM and Howard Dean some real PUMA numbers. Thank You For Your Time

  • sinking ratboat

This life-long Democrat can’t vote for Obama.
He has no experience and has shown poor judgement in his associations with people like Rezko, as well as his willingness to belong to an anti-American, anti-Semitic, racist, hate-mongering church.
    PUMA!

  • K. Wynne

I agree. This is the “point of no return” in more ways than one!

What we’ve learned is that the democratic party is no different from the republicans. We’ve been bamboozled by the democrats and now know that our government is totally corrupt. We all know that democracy cannot survive in this kind of environment. Democracy is at the tipping point and PUMA is holding her up!

I am committed to working my butt off in support of the PUMA coalition, so that we can continue this fight after the convention and not quit until we have taken our country back.

The first step in taking back our country is defeating BO. This will send a message to the power elite that we are not the sheep they believed us to be and there are still millions of Americans who are willing to fight for their republic.

Our message to them should make it very clear that we are willing to fight them until hell freezes over and then we will fight them on the ice.

Our battle cry should be “NO YOU WON’T”.

  • nobonomo

If the DNC leadership insists on beating us down with threats and branding us falsely, or worse, insisting there is no problem to begin with, then this ‘no lose’ year for the Democrats will see them become the world’s laughing stock, having once again snatched defeat from the jaws of victory.

Ani, I hope that you are correct. I hope that the PUMA grassroot organization continues to grow as it gets more public attention. There has never been a better or more important time in our country to stand up and just say no deal.

What the Dems have done in their attempt to fraudulently nonimate Obama cannot and should not be rewarded. Beyond that, Obama is in no way qualified or capable of handling the Presidency and that one fact, more than anything, is what motivates the effort to become McCain Dems or to just stay home.

When Obama is the official nominee I hope the resolve to keep him out of office is even stronger. Who knows the exact number of PUMA’s but as time goes by it is likely to grow.

  • ol’ dave

Greenwald’s been taking Obama to task for the last week or so now, much to the chagrin of Keith O. and hordes of OFB, and he’s had some great post up, really a pleasure to see. He keeps hammering away at the theme of Obama’s “move to the center” which is an idea I have a problem with. I would characterize this more as “slouching to the right”, feel free to use this phrase where applicable.

  • http://regencyg.livejournal.com/69390.html Regency

Fantastic, Ani. Another Scorpio tells it the way it happened.

It’s official. There isn’t a lick of difference between the D’s and the R’s.

  • wodiej

I agree, the Rev. Wright issue is reason enough to not vote for Obama!!

  • Hope

One of the two WILL win the White House, you have to decide which one you want it to be.

Not contributing is the same as the DNC deciding for you.

The only vote against Obama is for MCCain, like it or not.

  • Haoli-Haoli

Just FYI, this site is being targeted for removal by by Google because of its anti-Obama focus.

  • K. Wynne

The PUMA coalition is the birth of a revolution which is the awakening of the American people and reminding us of who we are and what we stand for.

America has been asleep at the wheel for a long time, which is why the DNC thought they could get away with this coup. Let’s prove them wrong.

This could be our finest hour as Americans, or our worst. It’s up to us.

  • beebop

Thank you Ani. I too have felt that we abdicated the moral high ground once we announced that one person was a one half vote. If Obama was a strong enough candidate to defeat McCain, did we have to eliminate Clinton by deceit? It was an appallingly bad decision. They lost me forever there. Forever. Seating them at full strength has the smell of all of his flip flops now.

In this day and age we are all going further and further afield in search of information. Real Clear Politics had a very interesting piece from National Review …. (yes, National Review ….) Here is the link. “http://article.nationalreview.com/?q=NjBhOTJlZDBkMjlhOTQ3MjU3NTJiOTg4NTY2NjFjMmM=&w=MQ==”

I am only going to copy one of the points made there as an enticement to get you go and read it. I have selected the one that most of us have heard ad naseum …. RACIST.

    9. Play the Victim. From time to time, hint about or make explicit mention of race, the exotic middle name, etc., as a way of reminding audiences of the illiberal and racialist mentality of all those who would will surely stoop to such tactics in future attacks.

  • Cat in NJ

As a struggling college student and young adult in the ’80s, and I felt the Dems better represented my values. NOT ANY MORE! I’ve supported the DNC since Mondale … and I support the winner of the popular vote, Hillary. For me, the 80′s also defined a time of anti-Soviet sentiments … the “Evil Empire” … it wasn’t who WE were. Now I feel the DNC, in cahoots with the media, are using the same rotten tactics to appoint Comrade Obama to the White House. I’ll take losing fair and square, but I can’t support this bullshit … Evil Empire, the Next Generation.

  • beebop

Well, they surrendered the moral high ground in China. They have plenty of practice at flips themselves.

The PUMA Coalition is the birth of a revolution to awaken America and remind us of who we are and what we stand for. To recognize that we do have the power to stop this coup if we unite and work together. “E Pluribus Unum”!

America has been asleep at the wheel for a long time now, which is why the DNC thought they could get away with this coup.

This could be our finest hour or our worst. It’s up to us to decide.

Our message to the DNC and to BO should be a loud and clear “NO YOU WON’T”.

Exactly!! and not just because Obama attended a race-baiting hatemongering church for 20 years. But that he emulated those same traits throughout the primary.
Even now – in the general – he’s playing the Race Card.
Race-baiting and false accusations of racism against the Clintons were so successful for Obama, what is to prevent him from continuing it against other opponents in the WH??

What is wrong with Nancy P ? I will send money to her opponent…

  • Alecki

The reason Clinton supporters will not vote for Obama is because they are embarrassed of him, his life, his unfair tactics and his beliefs. And they still don’t know all about him.

They don’t want a candidate that has been in a twenty year relationship with Reverend Wright and the Trinity United Church of Christ.

They don’t’ want a candidate that has a twenty year relationship with Father Pflaeger as his compass in life

They don’t want a candidate that went to a church that supports Louis Farrakhan, an anti Semitic racist.

They don’t want to defend Black Liberation theology.

They don’t want a candidate that lies about his relationship with Tony Rezko, the Syrian Criminal that sold his property to Obama and supported his campaign.

They don’t want a candidate that could work with a domestic terrorist, William Ayers.

They don’t want a candidate that Hamas supports.

They don’t want a candidate that Farrakhan and the Nation of Islam support

They don’t want a candidate that has a wife that has just now realized she was proud of our country.

They don’t want a candidate that denies Florida and Michigan their voices

They don’t want a candidate that mentions 57 states in his speeches. 50 states in the USA and 57 states in the Nation of Islam (IOC website)

They don’t want a candidate that fights unfair and steals Michigan delegate votes from his opponent.

They don’t want a candidate that feels sorry to leave a church that is anti American and that preaches hatred and racial views that are cruel and nasty.

They don’t want a candidate that is inexperienced.

They don’t want a candidate that considers it a loss to not to be able to attend his anti American, racist Church.

They don’t want a candidate that has a “non practicing” Muslim father, but avoids the entire discussion of his father.

They don’t’ want a candidate that won’t debate

They don’t’ want a candidate that misleads the youth with an ‘Obama girl and her behind in their face”

They don’t want a candidate that says he’s an African American and missed the MLK Remembrance Day and the Louisiana Black Caucus meeting

They don’t want a candidate that has done nothing for humanity except talk about it.

They don’t’ want a candidate that has poor judgment.

They don’t’ want a candidate named; Barack Hussein Obama

    He scares them to death.
    He is embarrassing.
    He is unelectable.

  • wodiej

they are a bunch of punks-these are the same people that dont’ find anything wrong w Obama attendinga racist, anti American, hate filled church, hangs out w criminals and terrorists. no character or morals so they have no sense of right and wrong or fighting for what is right. “The joint opinion, following its newly minted variation on stare decisis, retains the outer shell of Roe v. Wade, but beats a wholesale retreat from the substance of that case. We believe that Roe was wrongly decided, and that it can and should be overruled consistently with our traditional approach to stare decisis in constitutional cases.”

If Senator Obama cannot step back from his out of control arrogance long enough even to acknowledge how much he needs the support of the large part of the Democratic base that has roundly rejected him with good reason, he has no hope of succeeding in this election.

There is no way I will vote for Obama for the reasons stated by John David Overton:

The Democratic party has “pushed me into a corner in that I cannot trust Oba, Barack Obama. He lies so much. He goes back on his word. I, I just don’t see how he is a Democrat at all.

I also intend to work for McCain if the need arises. I also intend to recruit for PUMA any one of my democratic friends who say they will vote for McCain. Volunteer as an election judge and work to get out the PUMA vote.

Now the Question. Why is Obama’s relationship with Rezko a bigger issue than Clintion’s with Hsu and Dickie Scruggs? I ask because both Hsu & Scruggs were involved with Clinton until last year and both have been convicted of major crimes. Hsu was a fugitive from justice at the same time he was scheduled to host events for Sen. Clinton and pressuring people to contirbute to her presidential bid.

Why are Hsu & Scruggs better than Rezko? Why would Rezko be a dealbreaker for your support yet Hsu & Scruggs were not?

We stand united in opposition to the DNC after a long time of being proud of them.

When Pelosi said he is “fresh” all I could think of was the other kind of fresh – the arrogant kind.

btw – May 31st was the Rules and Bylaws and not the Credentials committee. Ickes said he had permission from Hillary to take it to the next step, which would be the Credentials committee. But didn’t.

Another thing about Pelosi. Her facial tics, the tongue darting etc. aren’t just the Botox – that appeared to me to be clinical drug withdrawl damage.

There are many anti-psychotic drugs which cause EPS and/or tartive dyskinesia and her mannerisms are very much so exactly like many of the individuals I work with who suffer from this kind of damage.

Drug therapy for anxiety, depression, mental illness, etc. can have lasting signiture tics and that is what I thought of in the Greta tapes.

It’s just that I’ve seen the same thing many, many times in my line of work.

Go back to third grade and read your history asshole.

The symbol of the Eagle with the Shield, Motto, Arrows, and Olive Branch was created by the Founding Fathers and comissioned by the Continental Congress.

Rutherford Hays had nothing to do with that symbol.

That symbol has been used in all Federal documents since it’s creation. Including the PRESIDENTIAL SEAL.

Historically, a shield is supported on both sides by anoter icon. The shield on the Great Seal is supported only by the Eagle, meaning that the United States will stand upon it’e own virtue.

The thirteen arrows signify that the US will always be ready to defend against any foe. The Olive branch means that the US is a Peacful Nation. The Eagle ALWAYS looks towards the Olive Branch.

Those were the creation of the Founding Fathers. Not Rutherford Hays.

Go back and study some more. Obama is not the only one in need of a history lesson.

  • AngryWhitePerson

And is Bill Ohio conducting market research for team Obama? I hope no one answers your question. Anyone paying an iota of attention since 2007 would have realized Obama is a nuclear candidate, for a myriad of reasons, NOT JUST REZKO. How many fucking “dealbreakers” does this douchebag get to get away with? It is appalling the amount of problems that come with this inexperienced toxic newb.

Anyone who voted for such a creep should feel deeply ashamed of themselves by now. AND if you’re NOT, you should look in the mirror and ask what is wrong with you. YES, I mean that. For all the stinkyass Obamabots that come in with their passive aggressive comments, I say, YOU, DOUCHEBAGS, ARE THE PROBLEM. YOU are the delusional nutbags banking on a magical solution while our country flushes down the toilet.

“Cloud of anger.” awwwww. Fuck off. There is a real damn reason to be angry, get your head out of the sand. Nine out of ten Americans are feeling a hardship because of gas prices. Are you going to wish upon a star and get Mr. Magical to fix our problems? Please. Go fuck yourselves Obamabots.

  • educatedwhitewoman

It’s hardly just Obama’s relationship with the slumlord Rezko (a man who built slums in Obama’s district with Obama’s help, and who returned the favor by donating generously to Obama’s campaigns while Obama ignored the suffering of his constituents who lived in those slums without heat, etc. – some “ommunity organizer” eh?), but since you asked, please review Boston Globe Expose Part I and Part II, both available for your reading pleasure right here on NoQuarter.

“By making such statements as you did about Google removing this site because we are anti-obama, makes the case for why this kind of site is needed now, more than ever.”

Sarcasm my dear, sarcasm. The odds of Google “removing” this site are about as good as Hillary winning the Democratic nomination. Zilch. Nada. None. Null.

By the way, if you’re going to put something in quotes, make sure I actually said it first.

It does bother me when the democrats use the scare tatics about Roe v Wade. This law passed under a republican president. We have had 24 years (since 1972) of republican presidents who haven’t tried to overturn it. It’s just a campaign tool for both sides.

I can’t get over the “100 years in Iraq” crap. It’s being made such a big deal over. They have the commercial with the woman telling John McCain that he can’t have her baby! hahahaha!!! That’s almost funnier than The Family Guy!! My first thought was “well, your son will be 18, so you can’t say whether he will enlist or not – it will be his choice!!!” Or what if we get some inexperienced guy in the white house? we may even have a draft because of it. But the thing that bothers me the most is this:

Who here believes that John McCain will live for another 100 years???!!! And even if he does live for 100 years (lol), he can only be president for 8 years. Does the DNC actually think I believe this? I know they consider me an old uneducated poor woman, but even I know this. Don’t they realize how stupid they sound?

In the end, I don’t see how they think they can have a majority in the House and Senate. I have a feeling they will lose many votes and the republicans will gain the majority. Let’s not only vote against Obama in the GE, but let’s vote against his backers in the House and Senate. We need to get rid of the traitors!!!

“They” might not find anything wrog with it, but the MAJORITY of voters will find a lot wrong with it.

I come from a large family of Irish Catholic Democrats. Most of us have switched our affiliation to Independent, or Republican due to the NON Democratic nature of the Dem Party.

The Party has lost our vote, and I guarantee they lost the vote of millions of others just like us, and just like PUMAs.

Pelosi, Dean and Donkey Brazier are getting a head slap that will knock them back into the Stone Age come Nov.

    Great writing, Ani.

I agree on every point. The Democrats no longer get my unconditional support and I’ve left the party, as has my spouse. We were very sad to have to do it after 35 years but enough is enough.

I was so excited when Pelosi became Speaker and now look at her! She’s just another of the ‘good ole boys’, so wrapped up in herself and her power that she has no clue about the rank and file Democrats who have supported her and Dem causes all these years. She and the DNC do not deserve us nor our support. They don’t value us so why should we value them? And to throw around ‘fresh’ as if someone is going to believe that crap? How insulting!

One last note, everyone who has a comment or question outside the mainstream here is not a plant or professinal. (heck my spelling and grammer should give that away). Yeah, I’ve had to look back too lately and wonder for how long and how many times I did what I was supposed to do to follow the party line. Eye opener for us all to see that the republicans have been warning us of this for DECADES and we failed to hear them.

The republicans of course do NOT stand on moral ground either and in any given year are no better themselves.

Independent IS the best bet and making our votes count for the strongest candidate of any given year. So far, to me, this year is shaping up to be WHATEVER candidate can defeat ob, and that is JSM. Sad but true.

As McCain said in the long version of that Quote, we have had troops in Germany, Korea and Japan for more than 50 years. And that has been a good thing.

The goal is to reduce casualties and stop the shooting war.

The Iraqi’s are starting to take over security, and are having success. As they succeed, we can reduce troop levels, but we may very well have a presence in Iraq for decades to come.

I trust John McCain to make that determination way more than I trust Obambi.

Nothing about McCain or his voting record is as egregious as Obama’s indoctrination into black separatism and Black Liberation Theology that fuses politics and religion.
Dems have railed against Bush fusing politics and religion – and now they’ve got their own Empty Suit that does the same.

And Obama’s indoctrination was clearly visible throughout the primary as he emulated Wright’s racist rants and race-baiting by “brushing Hillary off” the bottom of his shoe while laughing along with the crowds.
Just like Trinity members have learned to do.

If you hate Whites – vote Obama.

    Dave,

I’ve never mentioned his middle name nor Roe v. Wade.

Among many things, he’s not qualified to be president. He’s not even done a mediocre job as a U.S. Senator. So, why should I have any faith in his ability as President?

I admit, Axelrod has marketed him very well and Americans are suckers for a good marketing campaign.

Millions of us can see through the packaging and recognize that this guy has surrounded himself with men like George Soros and Zbigniew Brezinski whose main goal is a one world government. They have no desire to empower the middle class and neither will BO because he is their puppet.

IMO, BO is the other side of the GWB coin and that’s not change I can believe in.

  • beebop

Some where an English teacher weeps. You are a disgrace. Reasoning skills are a waste if you are ill prepared to articulate them, wouldn’t you agree? *Rolls up sleeves*

As a troll who regularly visits this site, I’m sure you have seen more than ample evidence that not everyone here is voting for McCain.

You will also be aware that very many people on this site have expressed displeasure with BOTH major parties, and with their candidates.

I personally find it hilarious that people will notice one thing about a candidate they dislike and run with it, while giving a free pass on everything their chosen candidate does, kind of like what you do with Obama.

You miss the point, though. Most of the Democrats who come to this site are voting for McCain not because he is their first choice, but because he represents their voices as a protest vote.

Democracy is bigger than Democrats or Republicans. Keep that in mind.

  • Just a Thought

Voting for Nader, or any third party candidate does not accomplish what is needed this election year, from my standpoint.

The DNC and the Obama campaign must be shown that 18 million voters actually counted, and that their dismissive attitude toward us can never happen again.

The only way to truly accomplish that is to make my formerly Democratic vote count twice. To do that I will vote for McCain.

That way my normally Democratic vote is a lost vote for Obama, and a gained vote for McCain.

    cross posted

  • beebop

Obama had a PERSONAL relationship with Rezko and used his Illinois Senate office to funnel money to Rezko projects.
Obama appointed Rezko to his 2004 Senate campaign Finance Committee!!
But it’s not surprising Obamabots don’t get it.

It’s the same with Hagee and Parsley endorsing McCain.
McCain wasn’t a member of their churches – ever.
Obama ENDORSED Wright and Phleger and sat at their feet for 20 years – allowing himself and his family to be indoctrinated with hate for Whites, America, Jews, Catholics, etc.

Obama doesn’t display an ounce of humility! – a trait taught in true Christian churches.

If Powell was the Republican nominee, would they attack his service record?

I think not and the regrettable inference I make here pisses me off, that it is even part of the mix.
But it is not to be ignored.

  • WildChild

Stick his head up BOBO’s butt?! Are you kidding? The BOBOweenies had BOBO’s Butt decorated and are currently blogging from BOBO’s butt. I think there might be sleeping accommodation’s too.

Dave, let me frame this in a language you can understand: ” The biggest corporate ad whore on Madison Avenue would not have had the balls to screw with a national icon the way your guy did with the Presidential Seal.” Obama suxs!

  • Dave

Sigh…was with you for a minute, but then you went off the deep end again.

“Millions of us can see through the packaging and recognize that this guy has surrounded himself with men like George Soros and Zbigniew Brezinski whose main goal is a one world government.”

Let’s see some evidence- particularly interested in the ‘one-world government’ meme.

Shall I get me some postings at Obama’s web site saying EXACTLY that?

    Naw, O is O

  • Dave

“The biggest corporate ad whore on Madison Avenue would not have had the balls to screw with a national icon the way your guy did with the Presidential Seal.”

Holy Shit! A statement I can actually agree with! And you didn’t even mention my crack addiction! Congratulations!

Recently Unsealed Court Documents Confirm Obama Heavily Embroiled in Rezko Case
Posted by adminat June 27, 2008According to today’s edition of the Chicago Sun-Times, “Barack Obama’s name could have been invoked more at the corruption trial of his former fund-raiser Tony Rezko.” But prosecutors instead chose to focus on the first target of Fitzgerald’s probe: convicted slumlord and notorious Chicago political fixer Antoin “Tony” Rezko, the man who helped Obama purchase his Kenwood mansion in 2005.

The prosecutors’ decision to refrain from discussing Obama’s deep imbrication in the Rezko scandal during the trial does not exonerate the Senator from Illinois, however. I quote US Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald, who issued the following admonition in the wake of Rezko’s conviction:

U.S. Attorney Patrick J. Fitzgerald said the verdict represented “an antidote to the poison of corruption” that trial testimony alleged included the fixing of state boards that controlled a $40 billion pension fund and made major decisions about million-dollar hospital construction. He expressed hope it would have an effect on Illinois politicians. “If morals don’t get to them, I hope the fear of going to jail does,” Fitzgerald told reporters.

Fitzgerald and the prosecutors are particularly concerned with Obama’s acceptance of “straw” campaign contributions others made on Rezko’s behalf.

  • Dean in Mi

That is absolutely fine. The math is entirely understandable.

All I ask is that those of us who cannot, under any circumstance, vote for a Republican, be afforded the same respect that we show those who choose to do so.

    We are all PUMAs.

  • Yo

Maybe we started off on the wrong foot. I’m willing to adjust my tone in order to obtain at least some sort of answer to my question. It doesn’t even have to be satisfactory. I’d just like to know a) why this ‘whitey’ video has failed to see the light of day and b) why this site has failed to acknowledge its ravenous appetite for unfounded rumors. That hunger led to some rather questionable ‘reporting’ and there’s never been a formal expression of regret over the sensationalism.

Why do you consider the Obama campaign’s knowledge of tape rumors to be a notable fact? Any moderately competent political campaign would try to stay abreast of rumors that could impugn the character of their candidate. I don’t really see why that’s so remarkable. Please feel free to enlighten me.

There’s an expression — “drinking the Kool-Aid” — that applies to individuals who adopt a mob mentality and fail to rationally question their own beliefs. The adoption on this site of juvenile terms (hopey, Nobama, Obamabot etc) contributes to your group-think and discredits authentic grievances.

I’m not a shill for Obama, I don’t work for his campaign in any form and I disagree with a number of his positions. I don’t yet know how I’ll vote in November.

I’m simply reminding you that your immaturity and failure to rectify past mistakes greatly undermines any of your legitimate efforts.

  • TeakWoodKite

    This is flat out wrong.

So Scalia lied under Oath while testifying in his Senate Confirmation hearing?

So why are you worried? RRoe V Wade was a case about inter-state commerce. Perhaps you should go listen to Oral arguements.

  • WildChild

Admit it, you BOBOweenies use RvW with the same hysterical intensity that the conservative fringe used with gay marriage.

AP report: Clinton Supporters Reluctant to Switch to Obama
Posted on June 29th, 2008 by Anee
    http://www.audacityofhypocrisy.com

A great website with interesting articles. We will never switch to Obama, I think they are finally getting it. Keep up the fight people!!! I love the worried, scared look in Dean’s eyes.

  • jbjd

Does expressing the desire to commit battery against the former President of the United States constitute ‘surrendering the high moral ground’? Here’s what a reporter for the Guardian, UK wrote about Michelle Obama. “In Wisconsin, I asked her if she was offended by Bill Clinton’s use of the phrase ‘fairytale’ to describe her husband’s characterisation of his position on the Iraq war. At first, Obama responded with a curt ‘No’. But, after a few seconds, she affected a funny voice. ‘I want to rip his eyes out!’ she said, clawing at the air with her fingernails. One of her advisers gave her a nervous look. ‘Kidding!’ Obama said. ‘See, this is what gets me into trouble.’” So, her husband, embarrassed at his poor performance against his primary opponent in a debate, raises his middle finger to Hillary Clinton, the former First Lady and 2 term senator, and, symbolically likening her to fecal matter, gestures to scrape her off his feet; and she, livid that the former President characterized her husband’s present position on the war as disingenuous, verbalizes her desire to scratch his eyes out. To me, this means, when it comes to Mr. & Mrs. Obama, there is no moral high ground.

  • Zee

Be sure to reply to every fundraising plea with “let the Obamabratz deliver” and sign it BYE BYE! P.U.M.A.

  • lastlemming

To restore harmony I suggest you and your son take a little road trip to the south side of Chicago, go visit Obama’s old district. It will open his eyes lke nothing ou could say.

  • Zee

You speak exactly for me, too, Ani. City girl, creative class, first time voting Republican.

They should be worried about the MEN even more than us…the men are just going about their business, are less vocal, but many feel this same way.

  • TeakWoodKite

Hussein ? Sadam Hussein? Or Barak Hussein Obama? Obama, Osama? Who cares!!! What Beetlejuice!

Dave, you really are kidding right?

I could give a rats ass what his name is. He is, by his words and actions, an immoral human being.

Barak Hussein Obama is not qualified in ANY respect to be POTUS. Or should I refer to him As Barry?

  • Zee

Coyote Creek, you are a good mother.

Your son will remember this when his eyes are finally opened, however long that takes.

Much better to disagree than to go along with the kidz to be “hip.”

They need parents to be parents, not pals.

I remember some things my mom said that took me DECADES to “get.”

  • sinking ratboat

Great post, Ani. You cover all the important issues so well.
    Keep ‘em coming.

  • TeakWoodKite

    UNity? YO, good luck.

  • Zee

Um, anyone who doesn’t know by now that Bush and Gore were MOST DECIDEDLY not “the same” can maybe give Nader a pass.

But most will have to admit Nader was a wretched liar selling a schtick, and even though Gore won, and even though Bush stole Florida, Nader still cost Gore the election.

Then he went and screwed over the Green Party, so he wasn’t even into building a viable third party.

    Just saying.

  • ndree

PUMA Convention, same day as or a couple weeks after the Dem Convention…to determine a strategy for Nov.

    Feel free to use BOBO.

    :)

  • Dave

    I guess so:

    http://caselaw.lp.findlaw.com/scripts/getcase.pl?navby=CASE&court=US&vol=492&page=490

“JUSTICE SCALIA would reconsider and explicitly overrule Roe v. Wade. Avoiding the Roe question by deciding this case in as narrow a manner as possible is not required by precedent and not justified by policy. To do so is needlessly to prolong this Court’s involvement in a field where the answers to the central questions are political rather than juridical, and thus to make the Court the object of the sort of organized pressure that political institutions in a democracy ought to receive. It is particularly perverse to decide this case as narrowly as possible in order to avoid reading the inexpressibly “broader-than-was-required-by-the-precise-facts” structure established by Roe v. Wade. The question of Roe’s validity is presented here, inasmuch as 188.029 constitutes a legislative imposition on the judgment of the physician concerning the point of viability and increases the cost of an abortion. It does palpable harm, if the States can and would eliminate largely unrestricted abortion, skillfully to refrain from telling them so.”

Gonna post any of your links yet? Or just keep repeating the same tired line?

  • wodiej

I didn’t know she said any of that but she obviously is also CLASSLESS. She can dress up any way she wants but she’s still without it.

  • Dave

You can refer to him however you like. Race-baiting is race-baiting- however you look at it.

  • wodiej

Dave, explain your position. What was race baiting about saying Obama’s position on Iraq was a “fairy tale”. I’d like to hear it as I’m sure the rest of us would. Or are you just reading from a script of talking points?

  • TeakWoodKite

    ALWAYS criticized America…

As in “gun toting, bible fearin” calling the Clintons and whole bunch of people, ncluding myself, racist for voicing their opinion?

    Don’t be a Brain Bug.

  • Dave

Somewhere “some where” is used as one word, not two.

  • ndree

If this IS what it Is….then the Dems DESERVE to lose.

  • rjj

ah zee, you might not see this post, but do the names Table Talk, Atlantic Refugees, or American Prospect, mean anything to you?

    or sonnets?

There was a zee from MA who was exceedingly not-fond of John Kerry. But there may be many of those.

  • Dave

“What was race baiting about saying Obama’s position on Iraq was a “fairy tale”.”

Nothing. My race-baiting reply was to the post that started:

“Hussein ? Sadam Hussein? Or Barak Hussein Obama? Obama, Osama? Who cares!!! What Beetlejuice!”

  • ndree

I just hope that it serves as a wakening call for folks who get their news from the scripted media, The MSM talking buffoons, American idol and Dancing with the Stars.

  • wodiej

Did Hsu leave tenants without heat and water w rats? Did Clinton attend a church where racist, hate mongering, anti American remarks were made? Nope…that’s where I stand. REV. WRIGHT is enough to not vote for Obama.

  • TeakWoodKite

Bush to insert Special Forces into Iran…

This has been going on for many years.

  • ndree

One more: They don’t want a candidate who thinks he can buy his way into the Oval Office!

  • WildChild

There are certainly people who are concerned that Brzezinski through his association with David Rockefeller and the trilateral commission are setting up some extra governmental organization to further the interests of the moneyed elites. That is undeniable.

  • Just a Thought

Surely you guys are not upset with us, Wombat, Dave, realdemocrat. Are you?

That would just be devastating to us to have psychoactive Obama worshippers angry with us.

I guess because you guys are so persuavsive, so nice, and so informed, we should just abandon our own selfish intellect and principles, and vote for your savior.

Of course that is not going to happen, because our own judgement, rationale, and principles mean very much to us.

I would much rather have a known John McCain, warts and all, in charge of this country than an unknown, totally enigmatic Obama.

My country is more important than my political affiliation.

  • wodiej

hmm, I didn’t see anything in there about McCain attending a racist, anti American, hate spewing church for 20 years on your list.

I don’t claim that McCain is perfect nor changed his mind about issues or that I agree w all of them. Nor am I angry. I simply love my country and I will not vote for someone like Obama who attended a church like Rev. Wright’s and sat in it for 20 years listening to that crap. So you Obama supporters go ahead and quote all the flip flops, differences in issues etc. It won’t make one bit of difference to me. I am not supporting anyone for President who is linked w the likes of Farrakhan, Ayers, Phleger and Wright. EVER. You all apparently weren’t paying attention in History class or is it now not politically correct to honor our country with respect? Many people fought and died for our freedoms and they weren’t the kinds of people Obama associates with.

  • WildChild

If Clinton’s statement isn’t race baiting then why did BOBO push the idea that it was race baiting? A thousand screaming BOBOweenies didn’t just dream up the connection on their own.

  • Elle

    Great antidote to the koolaid!

  • Dave

Agreed. There are also certainly some people who are concerned that Hillary Clinton has conspired in the murder of several politicians over the years.
That is also undeniable, and probably just as relevant to this election.

  • http://www.dawnellesplace.com Dawnelle

I agree with you Ani! Except for the part where you say all 18 million are never going to vote for NOBAMA.

I’m thinking probably 16 Million of them will plug their nose cuz they’re NOT paying attention.

    I’m being generous too.

NOW NANCY why are you not worried about 3 or 4 MEEEEEEEEEEEEEELION people that will either vote for MCCain, write in HILLARY, vote 3rd Party or SIT it OUT??

Being GENEROUS NANCY! 3 or 4 MILLION voters will NOT LIE and FAKE UNITY JUST so you can get ANY LAMP SHADE or CROOK in the White House!

It used to be ABB (anybody but BUSH)

guess what? IT STILL IS ABB

    ANYBODY BUT BARACK!!!!

  • jyotinc

I’ve been protesting the war in the street for so long, and imagine the anguish of my son when he found out I’m voting for McCain. All the explanations fell on deaf ears and the one bothers him the most is “100 years in Iraq”.

  • Dave

And before any of the loons out there attack me for bringing that up- it was used as a comparison to show how ridiculous both claims are.

  • WildChild

You’re very welcome. LOL it’s hilarious that BOBO got his ittle something from men. And and and the loser had to pay for it too Bwah Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha

    Not even an Obama supporter.

However, neither I, nor any other anti-Obama/DNC voters on here, are ever afforded the same courtesy by the Obama trolls.

  • http://www.thecityedition.com/Pages/Archive/Winter08/2008Election.html Jeremiah God Damn AmeriKKKa Wright

Just be aware that in many states a write-in vote for a democrat will go to the Democrat candidate on the ballot, no the write in.

So if you write in Hillary in some voting locals, your vote will be for obama.

Is that really what you want to do?

The bigger question really needs to be are you just angry and want to show them you are, or are you really against Obama and want to make sure he is not handed the Office of POTUS. If you don’t want that to happen you must vote for his competition.

Only by voting McCain can you be 100% sure that you are voting against obama and preventing that fraud from taking over this country.

  • Dave

Yeah…my guess would be that the latter is your choice du jour. Better watch out or you may break that caps lock, shift, or 1 key on the keyboard.

  • Mary

YEP. They’re using the fear card to frighten you into voting for Obama.

    They’re leftwing wingnuts.

  • Juju

Great article, Ani. You know they’re in trouble when they use threats to shove an unqualified candidate down our throats. It’s not Hope and Change. It’s Fear and Reverse Racism (branding those who don’t support Obama as bigots). This year’s election will be fought in the gutter, and it’s fault of the Democrats.

  • TeakWoodKite

Ani; I agree very much with what you have said. The only exception I would take is the use of the word ‘surrender’ in your title.

That would suggest the Dems were forced to do so in the face of a greater force. The DNC “gave it away” when they “gave” the “coronation” to BO.

I really enjoy your work. Thanks :)

  • http://www.dawnellesplace.com Dawnelle

I couldn’t vote for Dukakis (didn’t vote that year)

I couldn’t vote for Bill C (dumb me) and he won without me! Thankfully! ;-)

I am quite sure NC will have one of the largest Hillary-turned-McCain votes out there! That’s ALL I’m hearing locally.

But I did see 2 bambi bumperstickers today while out and about in downtown Asheville (obama town, of so the vote said) ………

    2 for Bambi
    1 for Kerry/Edwards (lol)
    1 for McCain
    1 for Hillary (me)
2 for Jesus (heheheh) well it was a bumper sticker!

the rest are still NOT talking!

  • http://www.dawnellesplace.com Dawnelle

    lmao I agree

the trolls for bambi are pathetic and sad

and I’ll be the first one to tell them I TOLD YOU SO in NOV

As Bambi gains the support of less than 10 states

  • Ani

I like your style. Nicely stated.

  • Mary

    Yes, indeed.

It was OBAMA who voted for Cheney’s Energy Bill giving the big oil companies huge tax cuts and tax payer subsidies.

McCain and Clinton both voted AGAINST it.

Remember that when you see the new Obama ads trashing McCain for being FOR “big oil.”

    He’s bamboozlin again, our Obama.

  • http://www.dawnellesplace.com Dawnelle

Please can we have it in WNC so I can go???? PLEASE!!!

  • Indyvoter

Good point. Complaining to Dean about Obama is like asking Obama to un-nominate himself. Dean’s been in Obama’s bag from the get-go.

This whole rotten core of the DNC has to go, and they can take Kos with them.

  • Dave

Yeah…and Hillary has always distanced herself from Soros, and has never introduced him at his speaking affairs:

    New talking points please.

  • dnesser

Roe vs. Wade is over 35 years old. If it’s over turned the only ones who will panic are “Pro-Life” Politicians. Even before 1973 several states such as CA and NY passed Pro-Choice Legislation. 60% of Republican women are Pro-Choice. Anti-Choice groups wanted to test the new Supreme Court in 2006 and had bills in several Sourthern States(SD was one). They all failed. How many decades are we suppose to base our vote on Roe vs. Wade?

  • http://www.dawnellesplace.com Dawnelle

It’s the same as dissing my MOM.

Only I can do that! Or someone related to her!

I don’t like it when NON-serving types diss the military. They have NO right imo.

On the other hand, I will diss them when I feel it’s necessary cuz I served. So I figure I have more right.

Free country I know. But it is also a RESPECT thing.

NONE Of the ODRAMA kids know the meaning of respect. And not many of the elite know it either.

  • WildChild

The idea that the Clinton’s were having people murdered is ridiculous. The original claim however isn’t. We’ve seen the medaling in world affairs by extra governmental organizations like the project for a new American century. It doesn’t take a wild eyed conspiracy theorist to be concerned about those who are outside of governments and whose workings are outside the traditionally understood consent of the people relationship that the governed have with their government. One doesn’t need a capitol city or a constitution to have a world government. All one has to do is be able to influence the flow of money and energy that the world and governments need to operate.

  • Just a Thought

I predict that attacking McCain’s war record will back-fire severely.

Especially coming from the supporters, or the campaign, of a candidate that does not even have a “papered” history regarding anything.

After 48 years I left the democratic party.
This was a decision that I thought long and hard about.
I was born and raised in Philadelphia where this country started.
Too many people fought and died for this country to let a racist – anti american – know nothing do harm to it.

This Court has emphasized that Roe implies no limitation on a State’s authority to make a value judgment favoring childbirth over abortion, Maher v. Roe, 432 U.S. 464, 474 ,

Again; Roe Vs Wade was an inter-state commerce case. What’s your point?

I should be afraid because of the coming changes in the judges on the SCOTUS?

Lets see…they have up held Habeus, 2nd amendment, over turned affirmative action addmissions. Did I think all the rulings they handed down were what I wanted? No. So what?

I could give a rats ass what his name is. He is, by his words and actions, an immoral human being.

Barak Hussein Obama is not qualified in ANY respect to be POTUS. Or should I refer to him As Barry?

    Dave,

I realize that you BO worshippers do not respect those of us who just cannot support BO. Most cults have no room for understanding a different point of view, which is how they become a “cult”.

I think it is you who went over the deep end when you chose to ignore his total lack of qualifications to be president.

Also, if you do not know of Soros’ financial support for BO, nor Brezinski being his senior foreign policy advisor, then you haven’t been paying attention, much less researching who your candidate really is.

Here’s a link to what BO, Soros have in mind for America:

NEWS FLASH! The Dems didn’t just surrender the moral high ground, if ever they had it.

NEWS FLASH! The Dems, at least nationally–and their pockets of insanity in Tinsel Town, the liberal/Democrat/Obama news shills, academia, labor unions and Congress, as well as the environmental-wacko land–are a laughingstock.

Thing is, they’re very dangerous, too. I truly believe they’d eat their own young, if that ‘s what it took for them to be in power–and they’d blame their victims for being so stupid to have been within reach.

But, hey, given how the Democrats support abortion, including partial-birth abortion, in a very real sense, they’ve eaten–well, killed–the young.

This is such a perfect example of how MCCains words were pulled out of context! The key is that we may not be AT WAR for 100 years and only a military pesence, (not that I agree), like we are STILL in Germany, England, Scotland, Italy, Korea, Japan?, and God only knows where else… THAT IS WHAT HE SAID! People need to stop listening to the PROPOGANDA and educate themselves… and preferably not on WIKI and googassle ad nauseum.

You’re an idiot… People have been coming into this country for a LONG LONG time. You can;t blame this on Clinton. SO STFU you narrowminded twit. This is typical of ignorance of obalhblahs cult… Can’t say anything positive about their selected one so just beat up on those who HAVE accomplished…

Thanks, Ani! I have been a very big city Democrat for over 30 years and although I can’t say that I haven’t voted Republican (some Dem candidates were just pathetic), I can understand your feelings about this year’s election process in particular. The closest I can compare it to is Watergate. Whether you are betrayed by the Republican party or now by the Democratic party, it doesn’t matter. It’s just wrong.

  • sjc-tx

No you are wrong. If you want someone to beat obama you have to vote for the person who actually stands a chance. A third party vote might ‘feel’ better but it is one vote taken away from the total that go to McCain. This is why all the ‘green’ votes took away from Gore. A third party vote is a wasted vote. It in effect IS a vote in obamas FAVOR. …think about it. Please!

  • sjc-tx

Get 10 beans and put them on a table. Now give 4 to BHO, 3 to McC and 3 to third party……. Who wins? Now do it giving the 3 third party to McC. …. Its not about PARTY anymore. (never was). A Citizen Call for Candidates to Respect the Vote Counting Process
Premature Concessions or Claims of Victory are an Insult to Democracy
ALL BALLOTS MUST BE COUNTED BEFORE A VICTOR IS DECLARED
Candidates have no right to concede a race or claim victory if votes remain uncounted, if recounts are being called for, if allegations of election misconduct exist. Elections are not personal contests between the individual candidates. They are the only basis for legitimate transfer of power in our government, based upon the Will of the People. It is the votes that determine the winner, not the candidates. Therefore candidates have no right to short-circuit the process, but have a duty to the voters to respect it.
Remember the stylus “invisible ink pens given out in the caucuses? Watch the you tube. It was done in every state. Interview people in WA, IL, TX, etc and you see..
I’m not voting for Obama because he rigged the election..reason enough for me..

Voting is not going to change unless we revolt for Democracy. PUMAS don’t back down.History of Devastating Concessions: Will of the People Ignored
In 2000, many Americans watched in dismay as no U.S. Senator would join with the Congressional Black Caucus to challenge the electors in Florida that emerged from a chaotic and aborted election. Apparently some Senators who might have stood with them were persuaded by Senator and Presidential candidate Al Gore not to do so. In 2004, Senator and Presidential candidate John Kerry conceded the race in the deciding state of Ohio before the vote count was complete and long before recounts and challenges would be decided. His concession came despite his later statement that “There are very troubling questions that have not yet been answered by Ohio election officials.” Despite Kerry’s available funds and lawyers, it took concerned citizens and third party candidates to mount a campaign for a recount in Ohio. More recently we had the 2006 election in California’s CD 50, where election integrity was compromised when election workers took voting machines home for “sleepovers” in the weeks before the election. This flawed election went unchallenged by the “losing” candidate and by her political party. Once again, citizen activists mounted the challenge to the election’s integrity and outcome.
    Demoralizing Effect of Candidate Concessions
Concerned citizens who challenge suspect election outcomes have too often found themselves brushed aside with the statement that “The candidate already conceded. Why are you upset?” While Al Gore and John Kerry are the two most high profile candidates to break trust with the voters, candidates at all levels of government need to understand that they are expected to commit themselves to ensuring that elections reflect the Will of the People.
    Take Action
Candidates must stand up to the political “schoolyard bullies” who will taunt them with cries of “Sore Loser.” They must put aside their concerns about possible future political comebacks. They must put the voters, the country, and the integrity of our elections first! As a candidate, please commit to respect the integrity of the election process and wait to claim victory or concede defeat until ALL the votes are counted.
Mr Ilke still has a beef to settle with the DNC and FL_MI delegates count..there is no clear nominee yet and Hillary needs to stop stumping for BO..Respect the voters Hillary!Above all..NEVER FORGET WHAT HAPPENED TO OUR CANDIDATE OF CHOICE AND PLEASE PASS THIS AROUND.

Quoting: “We have never been divided before. The only difference is Obama and his sleazy campaign.”

    Two propositions:

    1. You and your son, both reasonable people, disagree on a political matter you both attach importance to.

    2. Your weak-minded son, always smart and rational enough to agree with you in the past, has been brainwashed by Obama, the great Satan.

Which seems more likely to you?

At any rate, I hope both you and your son take a deep breath and engage in rational conversation with each other in future.

The last paragraph says it all….Dean, the DNC, Pelosi, Reid would scramble for a different nominee..anyone but Clinton. I really doubt if the GOP would want to run against Edwards, who they mentioned. They can have all the theories they want but the DNC and its leaders proved what they are. aS FOR TX, I live here and Rush told people to vote for CLINTON not Obama. I am sick of all this conspiracy theory, Obama should not be elected because of his policies. The DNC just wanted a puppet and they knew putting Obama as the nominee would make people afraid to say anything about it. Well, they got what they wanted, only I don’t think they figured it would get as bad as it has, and unfortunately it will probably get worse before it is over

Unlike may ignorant bigots here the Pearl family recognise the need to encourage peace.

    http://www.danielpearl.org
The Daniel Pearl Foundation has been formed by Danny’s family and friends to continue Danny’s mission and to address the root causes of this tragedy, in the spirit, style, and principles that shaped Danny’s work and character. These principles include uncompromised objectivity and integrity; insightful and unconventional perspective; tolerance and respect for people of all cultures; unshaken belief in the effectiveness of education and communication; and the love of music, humor, and friendship.

  • UKforDems

As for attacking the McWar record, after the treatment Republicans gave Kerry it is fair game. Kerry was a war hero who saved lives. A real war here. McWar disobeyed orders to abandon the mission and as a result got caught.

  • beebop

I always wonder why trolls go back several threads …

If you want to abandon the moral high ground to the swift boaters and then call yourself a Democrat, that is certainly your business. Some of us still believe in discussing what is relevant. And fyi. My objection to Obama is his refusal to revote Michigan and Florida. Not counting votes is unDemocratic.

BTW, as for the DNC, I received an email from them today asking for a donation in exchange for their great tshirt (Uhh huhh).

    My response:
I don’t want your tacky shirt. The DNC doesn’t value me, I don’t value you. I’ve left the party. No more support from me, neither with my votes nor with money. No more contributions to one single Dem candidate nor to the party.

How do you feel about Democrats not supporting VOTES for VOTERS? Doesn’t that strike you as the ultimate desertion of the moral high ground after Gore v. Bush?

  • http://www.TheOtherDemocrats.com FloridaDem

I took a clue from the above and responded to the same email thus:

Ummm, I do not think so.

Have you considered ‘getting over it’ yourselves? I mean, really. You’d move the party to the den of crooked politics, Chicago, just so you can be close to your CHOSEN ONE? What happened to democracy? My vote is worth half? Well, you won’t get even that ever again because my husband and I have both left the DNC. For the first time in 35 years, we’re currently registered Republican – we might re-register as independents but never again as Dems. You’ve shown that you’re as dirty or dirtier than the Republicans.

You have an unqualified, unsavory, lying candidate with no work history. I won’t vote for that.

Keep your tshirt. You’ll never get another penny from me – ever again.

One can only hope that we are able to get rid of the democrats in congress and the senate this year. Each one that is defeated I intend to have a glass of wine. One can also hope that the young idiots supporting Obama get their asses sent to Iraq or Afghanistan where there is a possibility they will grow up. Let them meet a few Muslims who want to kill us. Maybe they’ll try to tell them, hey I voted for Obama. And just maybe they can see why Obama is the most frightening person ever to seek the POTUS.

  • lunchbucket_jane

My Gawd, I cant wait to read those headlines….for real.

  • lunchbucket_jane

Yeah, its ridiculous to compare McCain’s experiences being a POW with BO’s non-experience. Its ludicrous in fact. Clark got a big dose o’koolaide for sure.
He is saying that getting shot down doesnt mean that McCain ever had experience being the decision maker to drop bombs. WHAT? Why drown the political dialogue in such mega-bullshet? McCain is trying to take the higher road, calling BO a national success story, while BO lets his henchmen pull the dirty punches.
While Pelosi calls BO ‘fresh’ so the whole thing just deconstructs into absurdity. Apples to oranges, No that isnt racist code, obamanazis.

    ZEE,

Thanks for making me remember….Yes! I am in the same situation as you find yourself in. It has taken me decades to recognize and appreciate what my mother said was TRUE! This is why it’s so important to have someone close to the ‘red phone’ who’s not only has the ‘smarts’ and ‘clevers’ (Obamatese) but is also WISE. But, unfortunately, wisdom does not come early in life. Like our HIollary said in one of her down to goodness Speeches…we gotta get “knocked down, stumble…and get up” again and again and again…As for Obummer, the only Hope I have for him is in his next incarnation and I wish him a great next life as community organizer in Kenya’s slums where his cousin Odinga has made billions in “restoration for the poor and elderly” projects! Ah, and to think that Obambi has donated $100,000 to promote cousin Odinga’s SHARIA LAW agenda and full dress code….We should send Nancy Pelosi to sell cosmetics. She appears to have a flair for this and we wound’t want her skills to get too rusty. Maybe she could report back to us on sexism in Kenya and how much it’s improved under the Obama-Odinga campaign…

Check out the N.Y. Magazine (June 23rd issue) FRONT COVER STORY ON HILLARY DIANE CLINTON! John Heilemann’s article is amazing and absolutely essential reading–one of the few unbiased, balance and succinct reads of the year!

Christine Stansell’s LIKE A NATURAL WOMAN is my favorite article on Hillary in that same N.Y. magazine HRC series:

“…But as the party Establishment failed her, superdelegates desrted, black voters turned against her, Maureen Dowd’s hysterical jeers grew louder…the real Hillary emerged…(and)…she became an emblem of grit, resilience, and the ability to withstand the worst–qualities magnified and lit up in neon, inscribed on a female body.”

Would someone be kind enough to advise as to whether Barack Obama’s legal name is:

    BARRY SOEROTO
    or
    BARRY HUSSEIN OBAMA
    or
    BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA
    or
    BARACK HUSSEIN MOHAMED OBAMA

And, if in fact, he has changed his name LEGALLY? And if so, why did he choose to treat his Personality Disorder in this superficial manner rather than realistically deal with his severely conflicting personality and other such unresolved emotional symptomatology categories by attending at a mental health practitioner’s office or clinic? Surely, when he was a teenager he had considerable problems of self-identification. He writes in his first book that he wrote it to deal with his emotional conflicts. But, more interestingly, he makes a statement in the book that THE CHARACTERS HE WROTE ABOUT ARE ‘COMPOSITES’. So, even in writing his biography, he instils FICTION! Can we say thatBarry Soeroto has personality disorder(s) and issues that require immediate medical intervention prior to his swearing in? You betcha! And God hellp America!
