Rahm’s Historic Stupidity

Obama US MideastRahm Doesn’t Know a Thing About Why Conservatives Oppose Obama.

When Rahm Emanuel dismissed Obama’s critics as descendants of Father Coughlin, he showed that he doesn’t know a thing about why we conservatives oppose the president.

White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel demonstrates earthy zeal in his job as scoutmaster of the President’s political bureau, and it is therefore a fresh puzzle that he is apparently uninformed of the true nature of the opposition to the Obama administration’s policies.

“Father Coughlin called Roosevelt a socialist, the John Birch Society was created in reaction to Kennedy, Clinton has Scaife and others who went after him,” Emanuel told The Washington Post for an article about the “right-wing noise machine.” He continued, “And now they’ve come after Obama on Socialism and other things. This has always been a creed from those voices dealing with Democratic presidents. But yes, there’s an intensity, given the time frame we’re all under, that’s different.”

Rahm Emanuel, the man responsible for organizing the responses to the daily criticism of the Obama administration policies, is ignorant of both the Republican Party and modern conservatism.

Before addressing the true nature of Republican conservative opposition to the Obama administration’s melodramatic policies of the stimulus the budget, cap and trade, healthcare reform, and national defense, it is necessary to correct the record on Emanuel’s Archie Bunker tour of American political debate since FDR……

This is because with the MSM as the propaganda arm of the ONC (Obamacratic National Committee) the people who still believe that the MSM accurately reports news will believe what the ONC wants them to and will never hear about what the rest of us are concerned about.

  • Ferd Berfle

Wow. And they criticize the Iranian leader for his abject ignorance of history.

  • Katmoon

Ok, seriously, do any of those in Washington have proof of an education? STOONAD!

  • Mandelay

Where was that Republican conservative opposition on election day 2008?

  • Right on the Left Coast

Imagine if we hadn’t had all those dissenters over the years.

I always imagine far lefties/socialists (not reasonable Democrats like the fine people we find on this site, by the way) as wanting to engineer a society so that it runs like a carousel; nice and smooth, with very little up and down, safe and sound, with the State having their hand on the control the entire time.

Conservatives, on the other hand, recognize the inherent risk in life and view it more like a roller-coaster. Once you’ve been launched, there will be highs, there will be lows, there will be moments of fright and sheer excitement. Some may even get sick. But when you finally reach the end, you will be far more satisfied over the accomplishment than those who chose the carousel. People rarely reminisce about the great merry-go-rounds they’ve ridden.

Leftists never understand why there are people who don’t just jump at the chance to have more things provided for them. They simply can’t intellectually grasp it…because it isn’t an intellectual exercise. It’s an emotional decision. One that values the fear, excitement, hardships and accomplishments of LIBERTY, more than promises of stateism.

What a conservative can’t grasp, is why more and more people in our society appear to be eager to jump on the carousel.

Obama: Alas, poor Rahm! I knew him, Axelrove.

Alexrove: I knew him too. Boy am I sorry.

  • Katmoon

Have no idea, I have never been a republican. Was a dem, now an independent.

  • Ellen D

Honk if you’re sick of hearing the word Socialism”.

  • Ellen D

    oops “Socialism.”

  • http://firefox Martha Washington Collier

    Beep, beep.

Why do Communism lite? I think we should call a spade a spade and out them as Marxist.

  • Ferd Berfle

Well, while I agree with you about the leftists, I must say the rightist may as well try to convince us to drive recklessly for our thrills, which amounts to the same thing in terms of sheer excitement. No thanks. Those bozos need to be as careful with OUR money as they are with their own. Anything else is fraud and not “excitement”.

Liberty does not equate to a paycheck for everyone but neither does it equate to unbridled capitalism and never did.

The preamble to the Constitution does not contain the terms businesses or capitalists; neocons or liberals; Republicans or Democrats. It is right and fitting that the our government’s framework begins with “We the People”.

It was busy staying home, sulking, not voting for McCain, sticking the rest of us with Little O.

  • candymarl

All of these people are supposed to be geniuses. They are all supposed to be smarter than any other group that has occupied the WH.

They spend more time insulting the American people than doing their jobs.

They keep trying to make it about Republican conservatives while ignoring the millions of disaffected Democrats. Bad move.

At first, those who disagreed were racist. Now they are like Father Coughlin known for his antisemitism and support of Hitler and of Mussolini.

They never quit do they? Keep it up geniuses. Soon you will have alienated any American that questions policy or disagrees.

Considering Obama’s fondness for many public appearances and speeches, crowds cheering and chanting him name, children singing songs in praise of him, much like Hitler and Mussolini I wouldn’t go there.

  • Ferd Berfle

I beg to differ on this one, Martha. Socialist is the only almost-correct term. Marxism, or socialism as Marx envisioned, has never existed anywhere. Communism was a political equivocation on the economic idea of Marx that was fabricated out of whole cloth by Lenin. Marx turned in his grave until it died. From a strictly philosophical view, Marx was a learned man but no saint–and he wasn’t Lenin or Mao, either.

That One occupies the no-man’s land (he’s a bot, too) between hard right and hard left, a fringe where anything goes and nothing matters.

  • wbboei

First it was race. Now it is a right wing conspiracy. When if ever will they admit the truth which is that Obama is a fraud and his policies are inimical to the survival of this country. That is the reason people are protesting en masse. As for Emanuel, he is a waste of protoplasm.

  • oowawa

Obama: Alas, poor Rahm! I knew him, Axelrove

he hath borne me on his back a thousand times; and now, how abhorred in my imagination it is! my gorge rises at it. Here hung those lips that I have kissed I know

I also am an ex-democrat and now an Independent.
Neither party in the last 9 years has represented the American people.
Most people I know want an America that creates not just imports. I have watched this country go from
” WHAT CHESTER MAKES MAKES CHESTER” AND “TRENTON MAKES AND THE WORLD TAKES” to 98% made in China.
We are a hard working people with values and want to give a hand up to the guy next to us when he is down.
But we also do not want to carry those who can and should walk. We want the way to a better life for all.
Good Education with parents having a say in school policy.
A job with a living wage and safe working conditions.
A government that represents our values and listens to the people that voted for them.
A fair and valid election with all votes counted and the right to vote without fear..
A country not run the ” Chicago” way but the American way.

I want this country to get back on the right track and each person elected to do their best to make the country good for the people who sent them to Washington
I know that is a pipe dream today, but without dreams and the effort to improve, things will never get better.

WOMEN WITH INTELLIGENCE AND EXPERIENCE,MEN WHO SUPPORT THEM AND COUNTRY BEFORE PARTY ALWAYS

  • wbboei

I am not sure Emanuel is ignorant. He knows exactly what he is doing. He never met an arm he did not want to twist, a lie he didn’t want to tell, a smear campaign he did not want to launch. He is he quintessential Chicago pol which can be found in the dictionary under the word political evil. Only in this case, he has cast the net far too broadly, and is attempting to defend an indefensible position with inflammatory bullshit.

  • candymarl

    Perfect!

  • candymarl

    Perfect oowawa! Kudos.

  • pm317

Well said. I have been formulating an essay along these lines for days. The conservatives seem to intuitively grasp the significance of individual rights and responsibilities more than their lefty counterparts.

  • trixta

That’s right, Ferd. I would go so far as to say that BO is a corporatist stooge — i.e. the flip side of GWB.

  • Ferd Berfle

    Great comment!

These bozos think they are K-A-T smart. They aren’t. A few sound bites, a few lies, and some ad hominem abusives do not amount to much more than a crock of reeking manure. But so long as the electorate continues to suspend their disbelief, though, this crap will continue. We’ve had nearly nine years of it now and I doubt it will go away without the center, i.e., independents, telling both parties to go to blazes and mean it. What I am afraid of is that the pendulum will once again swing so far right that another extreme swing to the left is inevitable and so on. We need to not only stop the pendulum but dismantle and scrap it.

  • Ferd Berfle

But they sacrifice those individual rights to what they consider to be more important–rights of corporations, a gobbledegook creation if there ever was one.

  • pm317

They are generally pro-business because they look at it more as an individual achievement and a vehicle for more individual achievement. The profit making goal makes it more worthwhile than a not-for-profit, free for all government type outlook. Moreover, corporations cannot force you to do something whereas governments can. They fear that.

Photo ops: in the same way we never see Michelle from the back (don’t ask), do we never see Rahm next to other adults? I mean. is this guy what my kids call the SMS (short man syndrome)? Really, really aggressive, lifts in shoes, and not tall, generally not seen next to taller adults in photos?
I admit it’s snarky, but it’s hard to get meaner than this guy.

  • http://www.BullShit.com OSellingBullShit

I really didn’t think I would despise any person or a group of people like I despise Bush & company. But Obama and company have raised the bar of despise. Can there be another group of weasels worst than the Chicago gang occupying the WH right now?.

  • Mandelay

    Me too! Feels so good!

  • Cathy in Ks.

I don’t know whether to laugh or cry. Emanuel’s arrogance is only exceeded by his stupidity. But that seems to be the case with this administration as well as democratic leadership in general.
Surely Emanuel has noticed name-calling has not helped other democrats – particularly those in congress. Watching their poll ratings plummet along with Obama’s should tell them that maybe a new tactic might help – like listening to the voters and finding out what they really want – instead of dismissing them as “Nazis”, racists, angry mobsters, etc.”

  • Country First

Candymarl, you are so on target! I couldn’t agree more.

  • TexasMirth

“Right-wing noise machine” — Is that supposed to shame us into getting quiet? They can call me whatever they want. I won’t shut-up.

  • VinceP

Myself being a gay conservative.. it’s been my experience with the countless Leftists I have argued with over the years that Leftists rarely ever communicate an accurate view when they describe who they disagree with. In other words when a Left says what he thinks a Conservative thinks.. it usually bears no resemblance to actual reality.

I think a lot of it is due to marxist framework.. viewing everything through the lens of materialist economics (not that their understanding of economics is correct).. They tend to completely dismiss any non-economic motive as a rationale of rational human behavior.

Plus I believe they are masters of engaging in Projection. so when they have to figure out the reason why someone is doing what they’re doing, instead of actually trying to determine teh objective reasons, they will instead attribute to that person their own methods of madness.

I agree with Tammy Bruce that Leftists have been lied to by those who formed their values about the people they are told to hate. The Left lives in a bubble and are told not to engage the people that are their enemy.

The most dangerous thing to a Leftist’s confidence in his framework is to find out that the Left’s leaders have lied to them.. about almost everything. And thus the brainwashing , groupthink and lies about the Left’s opponents.

  • VinceP

    I prefer Collectivist.

Whatever form of that the Democrats are able to get away with is just details.

The reason why all the terms get used is because the Democrats just wont come clean about what they want to do.. so people have to try to guess.

  • Right on the Left Coast

I won’t disagree with you on that, Ferd. I think the intention always was that a common sense of decency and morality would be the governor on the engine of liberty to keep us from running over each other.

To the extent corporate capitalists and elected officials in both camps have abandon that personal sense of honor and responsibility that comes with individual liberty, they have done our country and “We the People” no favors.

A new arrival in heaven found himself in a roomful of life-size clocks. He observed that the minute hands moved at varying speeds; in one particular clock, it didn’t move at all. St. Peter told him that it was Mother Teresa’s clock who never told a lie therefore the minute hand stays put. Another clock’s hand had moved two spaces; it was Lincoln’s clock and he only lied twice. Curious, he asked where Obama’s clock was. St. Peter said:

“Oh that! It’s in Jesus’ office. He uses it for a ceiling fan.”

Which has its roots in a form of immaturity that borders on narcissism. The movers and shakers of the left attract their followers by nurturing any grievance that can be exploited. This emotional motivation makes it difficult for lefties to engage in critical thinking.

  • Sassy

While the founding fathers were learned men, with financial assets, this country was actually built across it’s entire landscape by the self-determination of our hearty, hard-working ancestors.
The welfare reform actions of the 90′s restored some balance to our social structure.
Crime rates dropped dramatically, families were achieving more stability, and children had better opportunities to succeed.
Because of purely political motivation, we are now regressing to a welfare mentality, and it does not bode well for the future!

  • tek

John: this is the Obama Democrats’ strategy. They class all opposition to Obama as pinheaded facists. Emanuel knows perfectly well that half the Democrats in this country are also opposed to Obama’s agenda. It’s a play right out of Karl Rove’s book; see, the Democrats can be too tough to handle, too.

Because these people don’t understand American NeoCons.

  • tek

Whoops, half my comment got swallowed. Suffice it to say, The Obama Dems are corrupt and they will self-destruct. I too see that Obama is trying to establish a welfare nation. the longer school thing is just to keep children away from their parents so they can be indoctrinated. Far Left Democrats will always start fooling with the public schools.

  • mountainaires

Wow, that’s some pompous pontificating…sorry but it’s just laughable that a self-described “gay conservative” would be projecting his own denial onto “leftists,” about which he clearly knows nothing at all.

Ferd: agreed. As one of my professors used to say, Marx identified the problem of unregulated capitalism correctly, but he had the wrong answer.

  • tek

Yes, and please, go ahead and call it what it is: Emanuel’s Politbureau.

  • mountainaires

Obama’s not a socialist or a marxist, he’s corporatist and a narcissist. And, Rahm Emmanuel is an opportunist.

    Carry on.

  • Beez_Waxing

Obviously, Emmanuel needs to enroll in some college US history classes so he can speak with some authority on that subject. Fr. Coughlin was basically a nutcase who started off supporting Roosevelt. He later started saying that Roosevelt didn’t go far enough in a socialist direction. Before Roosevelt shut him up with the new ‘Fairness’ Doctrine, Coughlin had heaped praise on Mussolini, Italian fascism, and “Uncle Joe” Stalin. In short, Coughlin was a dangerous demagogue, but not because he criticized FDR, but because he flew from one extreme to the other until he was silenced. Conservatives have taken only one position vis a vis Obama, and we see HIM as the nutcase.

  • Beez_Waxing

mounainaires: we conservatives are calling Obama a “statist.” We think that’s a perfect description of his policies. But you’re right: He’s definitely a narcissist and a corporatist.

  • Vince P

“First it was race. Now it is a right wing conspiracy.”

Yes! They keep changing shoes. The Dems are like the Old Man of The Sea, the shape-shifter who jumps from one illusion to another, but is finally forced to confess the truth–if you don’t fall for his illusions.

The right wing conspiracy against the Clintons was an elite conspiracy that only made Bill’s numbers go up. Obama is facing a popular movement driving his numbers down.

Conservatives and liberals just come down on different sides of tough choices. Protect privacy or fight terrorists. Cut services or raise taxes. Together, we form a two-front pincer movement to check govt power. We watch out for police state/theocracy. They watch out for the state assuming total economic power. There are different doorways to totalitarianism. We watch one door, they watch another.

Rahm’s problem is he can’t send millions of Americans a bag of dog poop or a dead fish wrapped in newspaper. And it just kills him!

Their arrogance will be their downfall.
