Oh, My Aching Head…

So, I was thinking this morning – How many policy changes has Obama made since he proclaimed himself Master of the Universe on June 3, 2008? Some are better known than others, because even some of the big ones had to be covered by the MSM. But let’s see what we can find:

June 4, 2008: Obama goes to the pro-Israel lobby, AIPAC and talks about his (new found) support for Israel. In fact, he contravenes US Policy in his desire to pander to the Israeli lobby. From the CNSNews article, “Obama Departs From U.S. Policy,” he says:

“Let me be clear,” Obama told America’s largest pro-Israel lobby, AIPAC, on Wednesday. “Israel’s security is sacrosanct. It is non-negotiable. The Palestinians need a state that is contiguous and cohesive and that allows them to prosper. But any agreement with the Palestinian people must preserve Israel’s identity as a Jewish state, with secure, recognized and defensible borders. Jerusalem will remain the capital of Israel, and it must remain undivided,” he said in comments widely viewed as intended to win the hearts of Jewish voters.

Well, that’s just jake – he has just ceded Jerusalem to Israel. I wonder how the Palestinians feel about that??

“This statement is totally rejected,” Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas was quoted as saying.

“The whole world knows that holy Jerusalem was occupied in 1967 and we will not accept a Palestinian state without having Jerusalem as the capital of a Palestinian state,” Abbas said.

I see. They aren’t happy! What a big surprise – Obama continues winning hearts and minds abroad. Ahem.

Oh, here’s a good one – Campaign Finance Reform.

On June 20th, Obama decided to do a 180, and has decided public campaign financing reform might not be the way to go after all!! Oh, and in making this decision, he violated previous statements that should he be the Democratic presidential candidate, he would meet with Senator John McCain to push for public campaign financing. Uh, no. Didn’t bother to have that conversation. What a guy.

This one is big – FISA. You know, the bill that would grant retroactive immunity to the big telecoms, and expand spying powers for the president. Now that Obama thinks he is going to BE president, he wants all the bells and whistles he can get! This is what he said, from the Washington Post:

“It is a close call for me,” Obama told reporters. But he said the addition of the “exclusivity” provision giving power to the secret court, along with a new inspector general role and other oversight additions, “met my basic concerns.” He said the bill’s target should not be the phone companies’ culpability, but “can we get to the bottom of what’s taking place, and do we have safeguards?”

And for some bonus coverage, and this will be a big, huge shock to everyone (not), look who else switched positions?!?!

The Illinois senator’s reversal on the issue has angered liberal groups, but Obama told reporters at a news conference this afternoon that he was satisfied with changes made to the original bill, including a provision that gives a secret court, rather than the White House, the final say on spying procedures. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Majority Leader Steny Hoyer also switched sides on the legislation, for the same reasons as Obama.

Uh, ya THINK?? Yes, it pissed off liberal groups – most of us who consider ourselves liberal have been opposed to these changes for quite some time! And we were all pretty vocal about our disgust with President Bush for wanting them. So, Obama said what he had to say to whichever group it was he had to say it on FISA, then he does this little end-run, “Oh, but they have assuaged my concerns, and it isn’t the big phone companies’ problem anyway that they broke the law.” Again, the self-proclaimed Constitutional scholar at work. (Hmmm – I wonder what he means by “Constitutional”? I’m starting to think as in daily constitutional in which changing his policy positions is considered par for the daily course.) Clearly, LOGIC is not his strong suit…

Just a few short days later, Obama is jumping on the Gun Bandwagon, applauding the decision of the Supreme Court on June 26 to support gun ownership. Do I even need to say that he opposed it before he was for it (Political Radar: Obama Camp Disavows “Inartful” Statement? Oh, wait – check that, he was opposed to it when he was in IL, but when he was debating Hillary, he didn’t know WHAT he thought about the DC gun ban because he just didn’t know that much about it, he said, hadn’t seen all of the information on it or anything. Gee – wonder when he got the time to read everything that now allows him to AGREE with the decision?! Yeah, right (for more on this, check out the video from Fox News currently at NoQuarterUSA.net).

Good grief, I am getting DIZZY with all of this spinning around by Obama!!

Whew. Okay, just one more – not because there aren’t more, but really – isn’t all of this making you have vertigo?? Well, this one I think is just perfect – really. It just encapsulates the moral fiber (LOL) of Obama. And as a previous member of this organization, it could not happen to more deserving people who chose to endorse this guy with a very limited number of actual members, and allowed people who were NOT members to vote on this decision…Are you with me? Yep, Move-On.Org! That’s right – they endorsed Obama pretty early on amidst numerous reports of ballot stuffing (oh, now there’s a surprise, too, right?? Uh huh.), and based on approximately 10% of their entire membership – meaning in numbers, not actual members. Anywho, he swatted MoveOn for their ad regarding General Petraeus
recently. (When the vote came up about the ad, he was nowhere to be found, of course, though he had voted on another matter that very day. Whatever. Typical.) Obama slammed 527s in general, even though they have been helping HIM out. No doubt, he is trying to set it up so he won’t be Swiftboated, but it is only Swiftboating when it isn’t true!! Anyway, I wonder how all of those MoveOn members feel now that they have been thrown under the bus? Couldn’t happen to a more deserving organization, if you ask me.

I should add, there is the whole Faith Initiatives thing, though I am not sure he has actually changed his mind on that. Given that TUCC has apparently been the beneficiary of that program, you see, it makes some sense that he is all about it. BUT – for Constitution-loving Americans who believe in the separation of Church and State, the whole program has been a HUGE issue. That Obama wants to continue it, and INCREASE its depth and breadth, is pretty darn surprising (this whole issue has been dealt with a lot here at No Quarter, including one of my posts, so I’ll spare you any more from me on this).

Bear in mind, this is just JUNE. I know there are more, and feel free to add them in the comments. I just can’t take it anymore. My head is already about to explode. I can just imagine – and I know you can – what the MSM and bloggers would be saying if Clinton had made all of these flip flops in just ONE month!! In some ways, it gives me hope – if he keeps this up for the next 7 weeks or so, who KNOWS what might happen at the Convention? You just never know!

    How about Obama’s opponent?

    * McCain supported the drilling moratorium; now he’s against it.

    * McCain strongly opposes a windfall-tax on oil company profits. Three weeks earlier, he was perfectly comfortable with the idea.

    * McCain thought Bush’s warrantless-wiretap program circumvented the law; now he believes the opposite.

    * McCain defended “privatizing” Social Security. Now he says he’s against privatization (though he actually still supports it.)

Wait, I’m not done with the last two weeks yet….

    * McCain wanted to change the Republican Party platform to protect abortion rights in cases of rape and incest. Now he doesn’t.

    * McCain thought the estate tax was perfectly fair. Now he believes the opposite.

    * He opposed indefinite detention of terrorist suspects. When the Supreme Court reached the same conclusion, he called it “one of the worst decisions in the history of this country.”

    * McCain said he would “not impose a litmus test on any nominee.” He used to promise the opposite.

And these come after these other reversals from April and May:

    * McCain believes the telecoms should be forced to explain their role in the administration’s warrantless surveillance program as a condition for retroactive immunity. He used to believe the opposite.

    * McCain supported storing spent nuclear fuel at Yucca Mountain in Nevada. Now he believes the opposite.

    * McCain supported moving “towards normalization of relations” with Cuba. Now he believes the opposite.

    * McCain believed the U.S. should engage in diplomacy with Hamas. Now he believes the opposite.

    * McCain believed the U.S. should engage in diplomacy with Syria. Now he believes the opposite.

    * He argued the NRA should not have a role in the Republican Party’s policy making. Now he believes the opposite.

    * McCain supported his own lobbying-reform legislation from 1997. Now he doesn’t.

    * He wanted political support from radical televangelists like John Hagee and Rod Parsley. Now he doesn’t.

    * McCain supported the Lieberman/Warner legislation to combat global warming. Now he doesn’t.

And these are the flip-flops I’ve noticed earlier:

    * McCain pledged in February 2008 that he would not, under any circumstances, raise taxes. Specifically, McCain was asked if he is a “‘read my lips’ candidate, no new taxes, no matter what?” referring to George H.W. Bush’s 1988 pledge. “No new taxes,” McCain responded. Two weeks later, McCain said, “I’m not making a ‘read my lips’ statement, in that I will not raise taxes.”

    * McCain is both for and against a “rogue state rollback” as a focus of his foreign policy vision.

    * McCain says he considered and did not consider joining John Kerry’s Democratic ticket in 2004.

    * In 1998, he championed raising cigarette taxes to fund programs to cut underage smoking, insisting that it would prevent illnesses and provide resources for public health programs. Now, McCain opposes a $0.61-per-pack tax increase, won’t commit to supporting a regulation bill he’s co-sponsoring, and has hired Philip Morris’ former lobbyist as his senior campaign adviser.

    * McCain has changed his economic worldview on multiple occasions.

    * McCain has changed his mind about a long-term U.S. military presence in Iraq on multiple occasions.

    * McCain is both for and against attacking Barack Obama over his former pastor at his former church.

    * McCain believes Americans are both better and worse off than they were before Bush took office.

    * McCain is both for and against earmarks for Arizona.

    * McCain believes his endorsement from radical televangelist John Hagee was both a good and bad idea.

    * McCain’s first mortgage plan was premised on the notion that homeowners facing foreclosure shouldn’t be “rewarded” for acting “irresponsibly.” His second mortgage plan took largely the opposite position.

    * McCain vowed, if elected, to balance the federal budget by the end of his first term. Soon after, he decided he would no longer even try to reach that goal.

    * In February 2008, McCain reversed course on prohibiting waterboarding.

    * McCain used to champion the Law of the Sea convention, even volunteering to testify on the treaty’s behalf before a Senate committee. Now he opposes it.

    * McCain was a co-sponsor of the DREAM Act, which would grant legal status to illegal immigrants’ kids who graduate from high school. Now he’s against it.

    * On immigration policy in general, McCain announced in February 2008 that he would vote against his own legislation.

    * In 2006, McCain sponsored legislation to require grassroots lobbying coalitions to reveal their financial donors. In 2007, after receiving “feedback” on the proposal, McCain told far-right activist groups that he opposes his own measure.

    * McCain said before the war in Iraq, “We will win this conflict. We will win it easily.” Four years later, McCain said he knew all along that the war in Iraq war was “probably going to be long and hard and tough.”

    * McCain said he was the “greatest critic” of Rumsfeld’s failed Iraq policy. In December 2003, McCain praised the same strategy as “a mission accomplished.” In March 2004, he said, “I’m confident we’re on the right course.” In December 2005, he said, “Overall, I think a year from now, we will have made a fair amount of progress if we stay the course.”

    * McCain went from saying he would not support repeal of Roe v. Wade to saying the exact opposite.

    * McCain went from saying gay marriage should be allowed, to saying gay marriage shouldn’t be allowed.

    * McCain criticized TV preacher Jerry Falwell as “an agent of intolerance” in 2002, but then decided to cozy up to the man who said Americans “deserved” the 9/11 attacks.

    * McCain used to oppose Bush’s tax cuts for the very wealthy, but he reversed course in February.

    * On a related note, he said 2005 that he opposed the tax cuts because they were “too tilted to the wealthy.” By 2007, he denied ever having said this, and insisted he opposed the cuts because of increased government spending.

    * In 2000, McCain accused Texas businessmen Sam and Charles Wyly of being corrupt, spending “dirty money” to help finance Bush’s presidential campaign. McCain not only filed a complaint against the Wylys for allegedly violating campaign finance law, he also lashed out at them publicly. In April, McCain reached out to the Wylys for support.

    * McCain supported a major campaign-finance reform measure that bore his name. In June 2007, he abandoned his own legislation.

    * McCain opposed a holiday to honor Martin Luther King, Jr., before he supported it.

    * McCain was against presidential candidates campaigning at Bob Jones University before he was for it.

    * McCain was anti-ethanol. Now he’s pro-ethanol.

    * McCain was both for and against state promotion of the Confederate flag.

    * McCain decided in 2000 that he didn’t want anything to do with former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, believing he “would taint the image of the ‘Straight Talk Express.’” Kissinger is now the Honorary Co-Chair for his presidential campaign in New York.

    Sorry for the OT:

Obama has more trouble. America’s Hope Foundation will be launching a web site publishing threats received from from Obama supporters. Activists who opposed Obama are all too familiar with this behavior.

    Obama Facing Online Backlash

There’s more buzz in the news on Barack Obama’s perceived apostasies among the hard-left netroots contingents. USA Today reports that Obama’s move to the center may so alienate radical leftists that he’ll wind up losing significant support among those in the Democratic Party base.

McCain did not sit in a racist church for 20 years.

  • believe

Of course McCain has been consistent on some things:

How antichoice is John McCain? Let’s look at his record. In his four years in the House, from 1983 to 1986, he cast eleven votes on reproductive issues. Ten were antichoice. Of 119 such votes in the Senate, 115 were antichoice, including votes for the ban on so-called partial-birth abortions and for the “gag rule,” which refuses funds to clinics abroad that so much as mention abortion. In 1999, the year he said he opposed repeal of Roe on health grounds, he voted against a bill that would have permitted servicewomen overseas, where safe, legal abortion is often unavailable, to pay out of their own pockets for abortions in military hospitals.

His record on contraception and sex education is just as bad. He voted against a 2005 budget amendment, sponsored by Senator Hillary Clinton, that would have allotted $100 million to reduce teen pregnancy by means of education and birth control. He voted to require parental consent for birth control for teenage girls and to abolish Title X, which funds birth control and gynecological care for the poor. He voted against requiring insurance companies to pay for prescription contraception.

Except…it just isn’t true. Sure, there are critics on the left, but they are still voting for Obama.

Obama’s advisors has him bouncing around like a pinball machine. This is “change” in action. “Change” has never been defined people have allowed themselves to be hoodwinked by a con man.

The Obama campaign provides a smorgasbord to all of the useful idiots. Just pick out something you like about it, that should be good enough. Just follow the messiah — Jim Jones style.

Anyone with any brains has by now figured out Obama does not know what the hell he is doing. The last 20 years Obama has sought advice and leadership from Ayers, Wright, Phleger, and Meeks.

Where will Obama get his advice and leadership from if he gets elected? There is strong indications that one of the sources will be Sharpton. It has been purported that Sharpton has on open line to Obama and they talk a couple times a week. Obama had wanted Sharpton to endorse him but Sharpton declined since he thought it would hurt Obama’s chances to win.

The foolish white people who have been saying “I want to vote for a black just give me someone better than Sharpton.” They have just gotten Obamaboozled.

I can’t get the parallel to the way Obama is conning the masses (especially Black folks) to the way Fard Muhammad conned African-Americans into forming the Nation of Islam, off of my mind. Farrakhan certainly has likened Obama to Fard. Hell, Obama may be reading from Fard’s playbook. lol The problem that I’m having is, why have so many White folks decided to back this con man? Maybe it really is just because of this war “stance”. If that’s the case, I know many of them are up in arms right now, whether they will admit it or not. Old Ariana Huffington is beside herself if she decided to publicly speak against the “great one”.

51.) Treehouse Is A Small Company – LIAR, the CEO of Treehouse last year, made more than the CEO of Wal-Mart, according to public records.

52.) University Of Chicago Hospital Pay Is Fair – LIAR, your wife’s pay raise was nearly 150% her already bloated rate and the hospital is a Non-Profit Hospital, which made $100,000,000 in the last 3 years. They overcharge blacks VS whites for services, and overcharge everyone in general by 538%!

53.)I Barely Know Rezko – Only 5 Billed Hours – LIAR, you have known him for 17 years, and decided to do a real estate deal with him during a time when he was proven to be under investigation. Despite this, you divided your property and had them take off $300K before the mortgage problems started. Then Rezko’s wife buys the lot beside it that you can’t afford, saving you $625,000.

54.) My Donations Have Been Checked Thoroughly – LIAR, you only gave back Hsu ($72K) and Rezko ($150K) their money when publically called on their involvement in your campaigns.

55.) My Church Is Like Any Other Christian Church – LIAR, your church is so extreme, the pastor who married you, Rev. Wright, just got done blaming the US for 9/11 and named Louis Farrahkan their person of the year.

56.) I Disagree With My Church All The Time – LIAR, you still have yet to repudiate Wright, who married you and your wife, and you still donate large sums of money to assist the church in furthering its message – hatred and revenge. You donated in 2006 alone, $22,500 to the church that you so terribly disagree with. That is nearly $500 PER WEEK – that sure is disagreement, Senator Obama.

57.) I Have Clean Connections Despite Rezko – LIAR, you are not only connected to Exelon and Rezko, you are also connected to Hillary PAC supporter Mr. Hsu, AND an Iraqi Billionaire of ill repute, Nadhmi Auchi, who ripped off people in the Food For Oil, Iraqi deal. Seems Mr. Auchi may have helped Obama buy his million dollar property long before Obama had millions of dollars. Wonder what favors Mr. Auchi expects, when Obama leaves Iraq free to be taken over by special interests such as him.

58.) I never heard sermons like Rev. Wright’s, that have been in videos all day, You Tube – LIAR! 3 days later during your Mea Culpa BS speech you said “Did I hear controversial statements while I sat in that church? Yes I did.”

Somebody mentioned Hillary Clinton’s “consistency.” I guess it’s easy to martyrize Senator Clinton since she was defeated in the primary and has since thrown her 100% support behind the nominee, Senator Obama, especially if you really wanted her to win. But in doing so, you are ignoring her dizzying flip flops on torture, Iraq, nukes, meeting with Iran, immigration, social security, etc. etc. That’s not an uncommon phenomenon, to be blind to someone’s imperfections if you really, really like them. It’s just too bad you’d support a bigger flip flopper than Clinton OR Obama and a more generally dangerous candidate in doing so, John McCain. Scratching head.

And this is from November of last year:

November 2007: Obama Said U.S. Has To Make Sure “We Are Not Just Willy-Nilly Removing Troops” And That It May “Take A Little Bit Longer” In Some Areas Where There Is Less Stability. “According to all the reports, we should have been well along our way in getting the Iraqi security forces to be more functional. We then have another 16 months after that to adjust the withdrawal and make sure that we are withdrawing from those areas, based on advice from the military officers in the field, those places where we are secured, made progress and we’re not just willy-nilly removing troops, but we’re making a determination – in this region we see some stability. We’ve had cooperation from local tribal leaders and local officials, so we can afford to remove troops here. Here, we’ve still got problems, it’s going to take a little bit longer. Maybe those are the last areas to pull out.” [New York Times, 11/1/07]

I know of another woman from WomenCountPac that had to hire security for her office, because she has been threatened and called a racist. Believe is correct. Obama’s supporters don’t see him as a “Messiah” or a deity. That was something Rush Limbaugh made up and that culminated with a very offensive satirical song he played a few weeks called “Barack the Magic Negro.” Now, this blog regularly repeats Limbaugh, Hannity and Fox news talking points. I can’t speak for anyone else, but I come here to add some balance just in case there are “undecideds” that stumble upon this site thinking for a split second it’s steeped in truth. March 2008: Obama Said The Size Of The Residual Force Will Depend On Consultation With Military Commanders And “Will Depend On The Circumstances On The Ground.” Obama said, “The precise size of the residual force will depend on consultations with our military commanders and will depend on the circumstances on the ground, including the willingness of the Iraqi government to move toward political accommodation. But let me be clear on one thing: I will end this war, and there will be far fewer Americans in Iraq conducting a much more limited set of missions that include counterterrorism and protection of our embassy and U.S. civilians.” [Washington Post, 3/2/08]

November 2007: Obama Said He Would Leave Residual Troops In Iraq Based On The Levels Of Violence, “It’s Not My Job To Specify Troop Levels.” Obama said, “If we see a serious effort by the Iraqi leadership to arrive at an agreement and an accommodation and you’ve seen continued reductions of violence, then you need one level of troop protection for the embassy…If things have gone to hell in a hand basket then you need another … It’s not my job to specify troop levels. My job is to tell our commanders on the ground, ‘Here’s your mission. Protect our embassy, protect our diplomats and our humanitarian workers in the area and make sure al Qaeda in Iraq, or other terrorist organizations inside of Iraq are not re-establishing bases there.” [Fosters, 11/28/07]

You’ve memorized your talking points well Grasshopper. Unfortunately, they are propaganda and not based in fact. She never flipped on NAFTA, and if you’d just do some research, you would see that many witnesses from the White House days came forward to attest to the fact that Hillary had doubts about NAFTA from the start, but she was First Lady–no president. Also, economic conditions have changed, and it’s need adapting now. No one knew that in the 1990′s. It’s called evolution, and a leader needs to refine and revise issues as conditions change–but not in 2 weeks time, like Obama does! Also, HE is the one who has lied repeatedly about his NAFTA position. He was SO against it in the rust belt states, and then his economic adviser let it slip to Canada that he was just “fibbing” for the primaries. He hotly rejected this, and guess what? Now, he comes out and says he’s Mr. Free Market guy, and that was just “heated campaign rhetoric.”

And re: Bosnia. How many war zones has Obama visited? How many countries? Hillary is campaigning 20+ hours a day and she makes a mistake recalling something from 15 years ago and suddenly that defines 35 years of public service? What a joke. Besides, several people, including officials in Bosnia, came forward to accurately recount the threat of sniper fire. As Obama would say, “Get over it.” You’re reaching.

At a recent political rally, Obama tried to overcome these criticisms by emphasizing his commitment to principles. Afterwards, audience members lined up at a microphone to ask Obama questions.

The first person at the microphone said, “I oppose the war in Iraq. If you are elected, what will you do about that?”

“I will end the war in Iraq within two weeks of taking office,” answered Obama. “All our troops will come home, and I will simultaneously make sure the Iraqi government is functioning and secure.”

The second person in line said, “I’m an illegal alien. What will you do for people like me?”

“If I am elected,” answered Obama, “every illegal alien will receive U.S. citizenship, free health coverage, and a scholarship to the university of your choice.”

The third person in line said, “I’m a conservative. If elected, what will you do for me?”

“I’ll send that first guy to Iraq, and the second guy back to Mexico.”

How about a POLICY of not donating money to racist, anti-American churches? Obama gave over $20,000 of his money. Obama also gave over $300,000 of tax payers money to Phleger.

    S

peaking of lies, this website is drowning in them. At various times here, entire threads have been devoted to Obama being a Muslim, terrorist, radical Christian, marxist, atheist, woman hater, womanizer, closet gay and if you scroll above, “the anti-Christ.”

If you’ll re-read my post to “believe” (interesting name, by the way), I said that Rush and Hannity didn’t invent the Obama is Messiah thing as can be proven by Google. I don’t make this stuff up–I just report, you decide. LOL

Most of the hysteria-driven accusations against Senator Obama are not even logistically compatible with each other, yet are spread here with a deadly earnestness that approaches cult behavior.

By the way, check out Obama’s blogs and find the one that says “Obama is god” from February 2008 right on his site? Your people, not mine.

Are you here to make sure that no (more) Obamabots are deprogrammed?

  • tampagurl

The truth is your to busy looking up McCain, don’t you think you should find out more about the guy your supporting?

  • believe

I said that those sorts of claims were evidence that this is not a blog of Democrats – Thanks for providing more evidence.

  • Bonita

Yes because it would require you to actually add substance to your post. Typical! Just like Obama. Cry doesn’t anyone want to talk about this issues and then run crying when people actually take you to task to respond.

I will have a good fourth. You to after all we’re all on the same team. America’s team.

No, just don’t want to waste my time since you folks don’t respond to substantive points.

Last night I wasted a lot of bandwidth with folks who not a clue about Clinton’s, McCain’s, and Obama’s health care positions.

But since you now think policy is important, which of those policy areas of McCain’s do you like best and why?

  • HillaryANDBillSupportObamaNow

The chairman of Hillary Clinton’s unsuccessful presidential bid, Terry McAuliffe, said Sunday that the former president was angered by media reports suggesting that he did not plan to actively support Obama in the general election.

“He was angry that these ridiculous stories were out here, and these supposed close friends of the president — none of the close friends ever got called,” McAuliffe said, referring to anonymous sources quoted in some stories. “What happens, a lot of the time, is people like to pretend they’re close so they can tell the reporters that they’re close, but, you know, they’re just talking.”

  • tampagurl

    LOL…shifty or shitty, I think he’s both

  • LindaA1

Well since Obama is now becoming McCain, it makes even more sense to vote McCain in the general election.

Let’s see. McCain will have a strong Democratic Majority to hamstring him, making him a lame-duck President who cannot get confirmation of a conservative Supreme Court Judge and cannot maintain a war without funding approval from Congress. He may even have a veto proof Congress.

Or there’s Obama with a strong Democratic Majority to rubber stamp anything he wants to do – which is now becoming what Bush and McCain want to do.

    Hmmm. It’s fast becoming a no-brainer.

(Has anyone else noticed that Obama seems to use the very successful strategy of adopting his opponent’s positions on everything – thereby making his opponent helpless to attack him on his policies? Clever, huh?)

HOLD YOUR NOSE – VOTE FOR DEADLOCK – VOTE FOR JOHN McCAIN.

Unless Hillary gets the nomination in Denver – then forget him.

  • Bonita

Once again! Are you just part of the supposed smear group because you don’t add anything to substantive issues.

You and believe are typical Obamabots. Can’t even give a simple answer on any of his positions. Just answer me this, Is Obama’s health care policy Universal?

But I do think he meant “believe”…..lol

  • elise

Believe There are some outright misstatements in your list, but whatever. It’s a disease going around right now. I’m not going through the entire list, but I want to add one I saw there to Rev. Amy’s list and thank you for bringing it up. I hate to cut and paste, but there is a lot of information here about Yucca Mountain and the problem Obama seems to have with that one.

    Review Journal
    May 15, 2007

That’s why Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., will have a hard time answering questions about the Yucca Mountain Project this year in the run-up to Nevada’s early 2008 caucus.

When he was in Las Vegas in March for a health care forum, Obama told The Associated Press he opposed the repository and would look to regional storage as a solution. Surely that could not have meant keeping the stuff in Illinois, where much of the nation’s commercial nuclear waste is generated.

On June 30, 2006, Obama and Sen. Dick Durbin, D-Ill., wrote a letter to Sen. Pete Domenici, D-N.M., who at the time chaired a key energy subcommittee.

“Senator Obama and I want to make it clear to the chairman that any plan to create regional nuclear waste sites without any local veto power is unacceptable,” Durbin said at the time. “Illinois must not become a dumping ground — even a temporary one — for nuclear waste brought in from other states.”

Of course, that’s what the junior senator from Illinois is supposed to do. Illinois has 11 nuclear power plants, which generate 48 percent of the state’s power. But what should Nevadans think now as Obama runs a national campaign? If he still supports regional storage, might not Yucca Mountain, about 100 miles northwest of Las Vegas, be acceptable as a “temporary” site?

But Obama’s Yucca problems don’t end with his parochial view of the dump. He’s also hip-deep in financial ties that McCain or Hillary Clinton or Mitt Romney will be able to exploit.

Obama has received hundreds of thousands of dollars from the nation’s largest nuclear power operator. Exelon Corp. is the second-largest contributor to Obama’s presidential campaign, after financial services company UBS, according to an analysis by the Center for Responsive Politics.

Exelon executives and employees have given $161,000 to Obama’s presidential bid. He’s received an additional $86,000 since 1998 from Exelon’s political action committee, employees and predecessor, Commonwealth Edison. Obama got money from the company in his 1998 bid for the Illinois state Senate and for his failed 2000 congressional campaign. Exelon also donated to Obama’s PAC and his successful 2004 U.S. Senate bid

I am a single payor advocate, Bonita. I work in healthcare so am keenly aware of the crisis we are facing. Neither Obama nor Hillary’s plan (which were based on the same model, just tweaked) goes as fas as I would like, but there is no way in hell this country is ready for a single payor system. There is much evidence that the mandate for adults and children in Hillary’s plan is a very punitive and ultimately ineffective way to start taking baby steps toward a true universal model. Both plans are essentially subsidy handouts to private insurers, as you know, and I frankly have severe misgivings about the arrangement given the shortcomings of Medicare D (prescription drug plans), Medicare Advantage plans and in states where Medicaid has been outsourced to private corporations like IBM. With that in mind, I’d MUCH rather start out smaller with insuring children being the focus.

I am blogging in several places at once so please pardon the delay.

McCain was actually doing something during that time too. Maybe he shifted positions, any number of reasons for each shift could be advanced, but he was in the Senate earning my share of his salary, as far as I’m concerned, even if we didn’t always agree.

  • HillaryANDBillSupportObamaNow

Hope, that’s really not a very useful comeback to the quote I posted from Terry McAuliff because you know that in time, just as Hillary has done more than once, Bill Clinton WILL unambiguously come out to campaign for Senator Obama because he does not want McCain in the White House. Hillary has already scrubbed any negative references to Obama as you must’ve read in the papers today.

  • elise

I agree with tampagrul, believe. You are one of the most delusional person on this blog. Kos, for crying out loud? They are so deep in the poo poo over there they can’t get out. When you answer facts about Obama you always point to McCain, but I guess there is no other way to defend Obama’s position(s).

People have explained to you why listing any position by McCain is totally irrelevant to the discussion here. The real issue is Obama and his lies, the DNC’s manipulation of the process and sexism. We know McCain doesn’t represent a platform we would endorse, but what you can’t seem to understand is we want our party to represent us, to be what we believe it should be and we are willing to fight for it with the only power we have, by using our vote to keep an imposter out of the White House and rid the party of corruption.

  • Steven Mather

Charles V was cool with that. He made fun of his face.

You jerk. Don’t you dare try to bring Roe V Wade out of the mothballs again and try to use it as a carrot to buy my vote. I DON’T CARE ANYMORE. Once again, you refuse to go back further than his November “on-the-ground” qualifier speech, which means you are excluding his earlier words as if they did not matter. He said he wanted an immediate withdrawal that would end with all of the troops, except a residual force, by March 31, 2008.

You seem to have a problem with the truth. Her position on driver’s license never changed. She said she UNDERSTOOD the position of the governor. She never said that was her position. NAFTA, you’ve got to be kidding. David Gergen, Obama supporter, was in the White House when NAFTA was discussed and he said she was not in favor. She and her campaign never spoke with the Canadians to assure them she was only fooling, like some candidate I could mention. • elise

You need to rethink your position HillaryANDBill. The two plans are different in one important respect. Obama mandates coverage for children only with fines and Hillary’s is mandated for everyone with fines.

There are other differences, but this one is crucial. With no mandate for adults, only those with health problems will feel compelled to have coverage. Younger and healthier people will not ask for coverage and insurance companies will be free to raise premiums and can refuse coverage for preexisting illnesses. Companies will have a choice about offering coverage, as they do now.

Say a twenty five year old has a debilitating illness or accident and has no coverage, tax payers will be stuck with the bill. Hillary’s plan was to allow anyone who wanted to continue the coverage they have to do so and the amount they paid would be on a sliding scale depending on income. Those who lose their jobs or cannot afford coverage at all, would be subsidized.

But, you have left out the most important considerations. First, a majority of people in this country want a government sponsored health care system. The most important thing by far, is your callous attitude toward humanity.
Some have written here they don’t want the Canadian system. They would have to wait for maybe a whole hour to be seen by a doctor. Others have said, I don’t want my tax dollars going to support health care for immigrants. Or, why should I pay for someone else to get health care?

Why doesn’t it tear you apart to know there is anyone here who can’t get the help they need? Why do senior citizens have to make a choice between their medicine and heat in the winter. Why should any parent not be able to take their child to the doctor or wait until it’s too late because they have no insurance? If they need a tooth pulled or new glasses? If they receive treatment for cancer or heart problems and can’t afford follow ups? I know it’s not possible to mandate compassion, but is this upon which our survival as a nation depends and that is not overly dramatic. Personal and national wealth will not save us if our compassion is not real and full of empty promises.

I am providing two links here and I hope you and anyone else who reads this will read the stories, especially the first one.

ARE YOU FOOL? DON’T YOU SEE THAT MCCAIN’S FLIP FLOPS GO THE BENEFITS AND PRESSURE OF HIS CONSERVATIVE PARTY. HE IS MOVING INTO HIS PARTY’S CONSERVATIVE PRINCIPLES.

THIS OBAMA OF YOURS IS A TRAITOR OF THE DEMOCRATS. TECHNICALLY, ALL OBAMA’S ORIGINAL POSITIONS ARE THE MAIN POINTS HE USED AGAINST HILLARY. HILLARY STOOD ON HER POSITIONS… YES SHE LIED (OR LACK OF TOTAL RECALL) ON MINOR AND NOT ISSUES… NOT POLICIES.

COMMON! OBAMA ROCKS! ROCKS WITH HIS OWN PARTY PRINCIPLES JUST TO GET A VOTE. HE IS A STEALTH LIAR.

Given everything, McCain is more worthy of my trust than your Obama.

Since my Hillary is already imprisoned by Obama because of her indebtness, I will vote for McCain.

I lived in the days of the conservatives… but I am not sure if I can survive with Obama’s far left and obviously “Anti-American” (not just anti-war) policies. If that makes me a conservative, so fine.

I just don’t want to be part of assassinating my own country out of Love of your New Reverend Obama. He just preach his lies to TUCC and all socialists behind him.

Bill Clinton is right in saying that Hillary’s loss is due to the far left. When I read the website

So Obama and McCain are both just two-faced politicians, saying and doing anything to get elected. Who knew?

So support of Obama by the Kool-Aid Corps has now been reduced to he’s not named McCain. Sad, so sad.

  • street_parade

Why vote for someone when you have no clue what they REALLY stand for or would do if they are elected. Every word out of BO’s mouth is a contradiction. I don’t know WHAT he would do if elected and neither do you.

Support for BO is blind faith and I can’t be so easily fooled.

  • street_parade

Believe, you need new directions from the Kremlin / Mothership. The Iraq War meme is now inoperable, since BO’s position will very shortly be indistinguishable from McCain’s (if it’s not already).

This is analagous to the US Communist Party in the early ’40′s. The head of it was giving a speech at some event during which Hitler invaded the USSR. He started the speech screaming the US must NOT enter the war against Nazi Germany (since Germany and Russia had a non-aggression pact)…he ended the same speech screaming that the US MUST enter the fight against Nazi Germany (since the USSR and Nazi Germany were NOW at war).

You need to learn to pivot as well as they did if you’re going to defend BO.

  • street_parade

Actually, it’s all of the ‘umming’ and ‘ahhing’ that throws me. It causes my eyes to glaze over, which I guess makes me indistinguishable from the typical Obamabot.
