I lived in SE Asia when the 2004 tsunami hit and it was devastating to see the destruction first hand. My family had a reservation to spend that Christmas at a resort that was hit by the waves, but we changed our plans a few weeks before to come visit family in the U.S. for the holiday instead. As I watched the horror on tv I saw so many places that I recognized and watched one wave over and over on the tv hit a seawall of a hotel we had stayed at a just few weeks before. It is so sad for all those who went to bed peacfully and woke up to a nightmare. My heart goes out to all those affected by the devastation of last week's events. He called the on air show last night. He and his family are fine, but he said the ENTIRE COUNTRY has been declared a disaster. Typhoon Parma was suppose to be on its way, but Art said he checked the weather before going on air and that Parma was backtracking toward them again. Media coverage of these disasters has been limited. Perhaps that will change as the damage assessments are complete. I read today that in Samoa, many victims will be buried in mass graves, for they can't return the bodies to ravaged villages. That is really sad...yes, prayers are in order! Thank you Amy!
