IOC Sparks SNL to Laugh at Obama

Looks like the worm has turned thanks to the International Olympic Committee’s humiliation of the Barack and Michelle Chicago Olympic Show in Copenhagen on Friday inspired the crew at Saturday Night Live to pile on. SNL coins a new term–Barack “Jack Squat” Obama:

Too bad SNL left off the much ballyhooed stimulus package, which was supposed to stop the bleeding of jobs at 8%. Instead Barack goes on his Copenhagen Olympic boondoggle while another 250,000 Americans lost their jobs.

The meme of Barack as a lightweight and a joke is starting to gain traction. The only thing worse for a politician than losing an election or being caught naked in bed with your neighbor’s dog is becoming a joke. Obama is on his way. He is being parodied, justifiably so, as a “do-nothing” lightweight. This is change I can believe in.

  • Margaret

I’m with you Larry, this is change I can believe in, too. Finally!

  • pm317

Well, he and his wife have been having an awful lot of fun.. that is not for nothing. He is the quintessential work-shirker perhaps because he does not know how or why or what and his handlers have made him look busy by making him hop from one coast to the other and from one country to another.

(I knew you would want to do this post, Larry, ;) )

  • momule

Well, wonders never cease! When he sees this who will go under that bus? One of those minions who gave him all that bad advice and made him go or whoever wrote the speech? It certainly won’t be that guy in the pool looking up at him. I didn’t think the week could get any better after I was on the treadmill at the gym and heard the guy on CNN moan ” Chicago is…OUT???” I was laughing so hard I nearly fell off.

  • Ferd Berfle

He is being parodied, justifiably so, as a “do-nothing” lightweight. This is change I can believe in.

Spot on, Larry. His shiftlessness is only now dawning on that part of the electorate which fell for his yakety-yak. Too bad they didn’t wake up just a bit sooner.

  • Tammy

I’m glad they’re making fun of him, but couldn’t SNL at least make it FUNNY?
    Never mind.
That show hasn’t been funny for at least 10 years.

I wonder how Jeffrey Immelt responded to this? Hmmm?

  • Grace

It was refreshing to see Fred Armisen in SNL paroding Obama for a change instead of tip-toeing around him. On the other hand, it’s incredible that those fools who are in denial of Obama’s inaction and his being the showhorse he always was, they ‘ve chosen instead to scapegoat either HRC, Emmanuel, Biden, Pelosi, Reid, just anyone they can place blame on. As if Obama is still the pristine one who just happens to be a victim of all these people.

About Fred Armisen though, I found it interesting that he used his own tone of voice as opposed to imitate Obama’s cadence like he usually does. It may or may not mean something; just saying….

  • http://www.hillaryorbust.com Hillary or Bust

I thought that clip was hilarious. I laughed out loud a number of times.

I also loved that he said the left should be more mad than the right at this point. Obama, who co-opted every liberal cause just for the progressive vote…So true!

  • Ferd Berfle

SNL coins a new term–Barack “Jack Squat” Obama:

    Now that’s funny.

Jack Squat works not a lot
    His wife is always mean
And so between them both, you see,
    They broke Daley’s machine

  • barry bums a ciggie

This would be hilarious except for the fact that he IS the king of Jack Squat. He has done nothing but show his lack of experience and understanding in running our country. All he knows how to do is give teleprompter speeches and flash his one-pose smile.

  • KR

    Two things he has accomplished:
    Pi$$ away tax payer money.
    LIE.

  • Tricia Spiegel

OMG–The Sat Night Live bit would be totally hilarious if it wern’t so accurate.

  • jessinwisc

Ferd, that’s great! Maybe now that reality sets in, dems, inds and repubs can ignore the chatter and start acting on behalf of the American public, DESPITE the figurehead occupying the White House.

  • Clara

Who was it that used the phrase “work horse, not show horse”? Well, it was more true than even we, the early non-believers, could have imagined. Barack Thee One is nothing but a show horse. He has a serious disorder with his love of self and its going to cause a lot of misery.

  • hokma

“left off the much ballyhooed stimulus package”

Actually he did get the stimulus package passed – he just hasn’t spent more than 15% of it.

I think that apology tour of his completely ruined any chance of foreign policy achievments. As a result he appears very, very weak and makes Jimmy Carter look like General George Patton/

To have the enormous majority he has and not be able to get an meaningful legislation done shows that he is clearly incompetent – particularly when he tries to blame Republicans.

  • Docelder

It’s a midterm election slush fund and not a stimulus package. He never wanted the economy to recover. He wanted change. The bad economy is just another crisis and as long as he can blame Bush and get away with it, so much the better. He has had the media, but he is losing the people. But as collateral damage in this, the media is also losing the people. Losing may be too weak, it might be already lost. Barack is a schleprock.

  • getfitnow

Didyou see the photos of BO/MO going out on their anniversary date? Whoa, the body language spoke loud and clear. The thing that irks me is he had to know about the 10 fallen soldiers plus Afghans over night.

Couldn’t they have “ordered in? They just don’t seem to care about perceptions. It’s all about them.

  • Docelder

I am a little hesitant to post this, it is somewhat off the post topic but plays right into your observation. There is a post “Don’t blame Barack”. I have long said as bad as Barack is, he is the symptom and not the cause and if it weren’t for him it would be some other shill. Anyway here it is, I realize it is farther right than most here, for that I apologize in advance. If I could strike a line or two here and there, I would do that. Still, the overlying jist of it will ring true for most I think.

  • lorac

    It was Hillary, of course!

  • morris1030

Obama’s lack of experience has become glaringly obvious.

Our own Olympic Committee failed to show up at the internaional Olympic Committee’s meeting in Switzerland, and snubbing the meeting. Peter Uberroth left American O C, and this vacum has never been filled except with hacks and overpaid know nothings.

And Obama left our Olympic bid to Oprah and Michelle?

This would be laughable if it wasn’t so clumsy and naive. Lots of ego….no action.

  • http://in Elizabeth

Something about the skit was technically off to me. Maybe because it looked more like a rehearsal or pre-taped run-through put on at the last minute than a live staged performance ? The whole crew was no doubt expecting to parody a Chicago win ?? hahaha

  • CentralMass

Then let’s replace him with the next shill in 2012. One term is enough.

  • Lyn

and he wasn’t moving his head from left to right like he is watching a tennis match and there wasn’t 1 UUUUUM or uuhhhh.

  • ImaLlindatoo

It’s almost painful to watch because of the reality of what they are saying.

But he sure is getting Obama down. YEP!

  • Tex-Mex Soup

so is SNL trying to redeem themselves after licking obamas n*ts for so long?

  • ImaLlindatoo

Oh and Larry, they also forgot what will become known has Obama drinking game 3.0 … how “sobering” all the bad news is coming from his watch.

  • elaine

Just wait & see how much of our leveraged money gets pumped into the economy right before the 2010 elections. The MSM will be filled with happy talk about an economic recovery. I only wish Larry was right in calling the President a “do-nothing light weight”, IMO the Pres is literally bankrupting the country & I don’t call that doing nothing. The common thought now is the dollar has lost 13% of its value, how much more value will it lose 31/2 years from now? 25% 40% 50%? A “do-nothing”, I wish.

  • Buck O’Fama

47% of the voters (apparently none of the MSM) knew Obama was an empty suit from the get-go. Now, the rest of them are finding out. But it’s going to be like coming down from a very bad trip, like the acid heads used to say. It’s like that nightmare where you’re on a plane and the plane starts flying erratically so someone goes to the cockpit to ask the captain what’s going on…. and there’s no one there. America is about to wake up to a real life nightmare, that the guy flying the plane is a vapid egotistical nitwit without a pilot’s license. Sweet dreams.

  • Grace

SNL will have to find a black woman to parody MO w/out tip-toeing as Maya Rudolph did before she left the show. Not just SNL, but all the comedians were hesitant about imitating and paroding these two because of fear of being accused of racism. I always thought that there is a lot of things to parody them: their demeanor, tone of voice, dress style of MO, use of teleprompters, Obama’s smile, etc, etc. If they do that, I think that SNL may have more viewers like the way it used to be.

  • Diana L. C.

I hate to break it to all of you, but according to one of the Denver Post’s regular far-left columnists (Mike Littwin, who is obviously so much smarter than we on this blog who are experiencing a little Schadenfreude over The Messiah’s humiliation, we are “Haters.” (You see, we’re a little more sophisticated here in Denver and won’t resort to the racist accusation.) Nope, we here are haters because the Olympics in Chicago would have been good for America, according to Littwin.

Now, as I recall, we here in Colorado once mysteriously chose to vote down a proposal to sponsor the winter Olympics. So we must have been haters then, too.

Gee whiz, how could we have not this time been overwhelmed with the great difference between the Obamas’ presentation for Chicago from that of the other cities? It was obviously so much better and so much more inspirational. I know–Littwin provides an answer — we listen to lies all the time.

I really felt bad about myself after I learned all this. I never thought I was a hater. Live and learn.

    ;-)

  • mdmom

Yes, I heard Rachel Maddow on Meet The Press today say that those who “hate” Obama were happy that Chicago did not get the Olympic bid. There’s that word again.

  • Lyn

I still can’t believe how the comedians said they couldn’t make fun of Barky because theyre was nothing to make fun of him about, since he was basically perfect.

  • Shez ZK

experiencing a little Schadenfreude over The Messiah’s humiliation

It was Schadenfriday. Fixed it for you ;)

According to Liberal Rapture, the Obamathon in Copenhagen cost the American taxpayer something like $10 million. They reckon since Chicago received 18 votes that’s in the neighborhood of $555,555 per vote.

Change We Can Believe In! For all us haters, that is.

Thought the SNL skit was funny and sadly accurate.

So does this mean instead of the pony we get the orange t-shirt?

  • TeakWoodKite

    For Maddow;

American woman, get away from me
American woman, mama let me be
Don’t come knockin’ around my door
Don’t wanna see your shadow no more
    Coloured lights can hypnotize
    Sparkle someone else’s eyes
Now woman, I said get away
American woman, listen what I say.

    .

  • ~~JustMe~~

either that or some plastic olympic rings take your pick Peggy :)

  • Docelder

Why is it that Obama people feel the need to dress alike? Do they have identity issues? Acorn is red, SEIU is purple, Olympics is orange… who is in charge of dressing these guys out?

  • Thomas Sears

I have to apologize….I’ve tried my best….but Obama’s incompetence and lack of action is just not funny to me. To this point in his Presidency, I think his lack of accomplishment bodes poorly for our country and for my children. The SNL spoof was just too accurate to be humerous because all these issues are of significance. And his administration’s continued lack of action as well as their inability to achieve consensus in virtually any area is rather frightening.

  • pm317

I agree. But when the real media is not dissecting his policies or evaluating his performance, we have to unfortunately rely on SNL skits masquerading as humor to convey the real truth.

  • Obamastolemycountry

That shouldn’t be a surprise! Everything BHO touches is a disaster!! I really wish he’d go run some other country.

  • Obamastolemycountry

Oh, God. That made me nuts! Flawless, they called him. I was like, WTF??

  • ~~JustMe~~

No idea Doc maybe whoever it is is color blind!

  • bayareavoter

I wonder if this could have the same effect that their Hillary/BO skit ridiculing the way the media treated Obama with kid gloves during the debates, had on the MSM.

After that skit the MSM finally began asking out loud whether BO was getting special treatment etc.

This skit was funny but I think it didn’t feel funny to some of you because that long list of non-accomplishments isn’t funny. I can’t believe they actually wrote out a list! And like BoF said above–the left is having a hard time admitting that they were duped.

I have to admit that it makes me feel good that I didn’t vote for him. And I can’t wait to gloat next time I see my younger brother and talk about these “disappointments”. ;)

  • http://firefox Martha Washington Collier

Obviously the same person who dresses FLOTUS.

  • proud mobster

I think the audience wasn’t sure if it was ok to laugh at Obama. Keep it up SNL.

  • proud mobster

Whatever the issue of the day somehow it all becomes about Obama. The date thing is just another way to show off. Did we elect a Prom King or a world leader?

  • elizabethrc

Ferd, you put the name to the word I’ve been trying to find for some time….shiftlessness.
I knew a big executive once who told me that the higher up in a company an individual rises, the less work they actually do.
I hope this isn’t Obama’s thinking because that rule probably doesn’t apply to the Presidency.
Obama has forgotten that the people elected HIM, not his 26 year old speech writers, nor his neighborhood buddies whom he feels he ownes some sort of allegiance to, for instance, Valerie Jarrett, who was behind this IOC fiasco.
I wonder what’s going to happen to Jarrett now.
He needs to sit his butt down in the Oval Office and meet with the people he needs to meet with, instead of plunking himself in front of yet another TV screen.
    Do some work, already!

  • Ferd Berfle

While not agreeing with every point, the gist of that essay is sound.

  • Ferd Berfle

    You’re welcome, elizabethrc–it’s a great word.

I knew a big executive once who told me that the higher up in a company an individual rises, the less work they actually do.

I’ve seen the same in the company I work for (and it is still the best company I’ve ever worked for). These ladder-climbers think they’ve done enough and rest on their laurels (really just another fancy word for backside) while taking all the credit for the work of subordinates. Fortunately these types are few and often get promoted to positions where they can do no lasting harm. It is a shame that someone in That One’s hidden past didn’t give him some cushy job at a university pushing diversity or some other rubbish so that we might have been spared his dreary, daily soliloquies and his inability to make a decision–any decision.

    Do some work, already!

    Amen

  • N. Lee

Funny skit. I finally laughed at the horrible condition of the oval office. Thank you SNL.

  • Mary

    It’s just flat embarassing.

It was Rio’s TURN, dammit, and their presentation was better, and South America deserved their chance.

All this Chicago and Obama-butt-kisser (Rachel) whining and finger pointing make us look like children, reinforcing the ugly American image around the world when we lose.

Why can’t the White House and the Obama supporters just congratulate Rio , wish them well, and be decent losers?

I’m so sick of this protect-Obama-at-all-costs bullshit.

We need GROWN-UPS in Washington, not childish tit-for-tat pettiness.

    Ugly Americans, indeed. YUK.

  • Sassy

Glad you brought up the “ugly Americans”.
I have thought the same thing for months now, and the Obamas exacerbate the image.
There is a national arrogance here.
We easily forget that other countries value their heritage, traditions, art, histories, and cultures.
After all, they have not all immigrated here, and they have probably had a snoot-ful of our dominance!

  • westexan

YES WE CAN’T. Without a race card, the Obama’s can’t compete.

  • hc123

    Good article.

  • elizabethrc

Or, in the case of Oprah, platic onion rings. She don’t care…if it looks like food she’ll scarf it down.

  • sjc-tx

yes but SNL was too afraid to use someone who actually “looked like” and imitated his voice… They might be called racist! SNL sucks as does ferrell and all the other sorry a$$ wanna be comics…

If all the goings on in the country right now weren’t so serious and threatening…, I might be able to laugh
