I'm not sure why you keep coming here if it bothers you so much, IF you think other things are more important then maybe you should start your own blog.

IF I don't like what stories blogs decide to report I don't read them, it certainly isn't worth getting stressed over.

FranSC, this didn't occur to me, but I think you're right. Not even the worst hack of a speechwriter would claim that no nation can try to dominate another.

It actually sounds like Malia channeling Me-chelle.

Yea for George Will! (This time anyway, I certainly don't agree with his comment about Clinton, since slick willie is the right's moniker, the Dems think of him as Big Dog) Finally, someone with the cajones to say what needed to be said about the Obamas. I think that people are slowly catching on, and then I hear on the news, that Obama's approval ratings went up. That has to be bullshit. America is not that dumb. (I hope)

Docelder, I think they are real! And that's the problem. Certainly people should be accepted and given credit for being themselves. But, when you rise to the level of president and first lady there are expectations that you have the skill level to fulfill these positions - not only intellectually but socially.

These two simply do not understand how you, for example, work an IOC committee. They do not get how you make your case without mentioning yourself. They thought it was about convincing the committee of THEIR value and THEIR worth. Their social skills in a word are pathetically lacking. Not that Oprah is an expert on this, but she could help them with this if she has the guts.

Hank, you give them too much credit - I think the Copenhagen speeches in particular were written by Michelle and Barack. They wanted these games in the worst way, for whatever reason, and they wanted to put forth their very best efforts to deliver for Daley and/or themselves. And that's why we saw this tone deafness they shamelessly exhibited.

They are clueless that very few people thrill with the regifting of their personal successes much less giving personal reasons as to why bringing the Olympic games to Chicago would be good for all.

I was about to agree that I was tiring of some of the same old, same old...until I got near the end of this thread and saw an article someone had posted about Obama's temper tantrum in Copenhagen. Ferd has a great reply to it. It's definitely newsworthy. There is always something new to find here... some days you may have to look a little harder, but still the best site around.

Third time is a charm and hopefully will pass muster with the incorrigible Spam-meister, which must find some joy in shredding innocuous comments.

That is a d a m n i n g piece of work. I've always thought That One was going to melt down sometime soon but maybe we'll all get a two-fer and sooner rather than later. Those two self-serving m e g a l o m a n i a c s are the most u n g r a c i o u s , i l l-m a n n e r e d, i n c o n s i d e r a t e b u m p k i n s I've ever had the unfortunate privilege of reading about or being forced to listen to. They really need to get over themselves and in a New-York nanosecond.

My God, they are the epitome of the u g l y American, n a s t y, c o a r s e, and downright r u d e.

When That One "won", the rest of the country lost. Help us all.

That is a damning piece of work. I've always thought That One was going to melt down sometime soon but maybe we'll all get a two-fer and sooner rather than later. Those two self-serving megalomaniacs are the most ungracious, ill-mannered, inconsiderate bumpkins I've ever had the unfortunate privilege of reading about or being forced to listen to. They really need to get over themselves and in a New-York nanosecond.

My God, they are the epitome of the ugly American, nasty, coarse, and downright rude.

Wow--that is quite an article. As it states, the translation is a little rough, but it describes how the Chicago delegation left in a huff, not at all in keeping with the spirit of the games, when they did not win. They also left all of their equipment behind for the hosts to clean up. It's well worth checking our this article. From me, two comments:

1. Isn't this just like 0 to leave behind thousands, perhaps millions, of dollars of equipment, with no thought as to how it was going to be paid for/replaced?

2. Did he ruin the U.S's chances to get the Olympics for quite some time with his little temper tantrum??

George Will certainly had something to say. Good for him. He is only commenting on what he sees and hears. Another journalist in Denmark at the scene of the IOC awards, had the chutzpah to say this about Chicago's loss.

That second Michael Jackson story was what finally woke me up to being jerked along for ratings.

So I agree with NomNom to the extent that the heavy slant towards sensationalism and easy, "featurey" pieces of this site while maybe successful at first at attracting members, in the long run leaves me (and I dare say not a few long term regulars that have recently departed) as disenchanted with the blogs as with traditional news as a main source of information about politics.

Particularly I was expecting more hard news, thought-provoking entries with Hillary as SoS. There's really no excuse for the relative lack of foreign policy entries.
