Barack Obama, the Half-Black Chance Garderner

Are you familiar with the movie, Being There? If not, then check this out and let me know if it reminds you of anyone?

It’s for sure a white man’s world in America. Look here: I raised that boy since he was the size of a piss-ant. And I’ll say right now, he never learned to read and write. No, sir. Had no brains at all. Was stuffed with rice pudding between th’ ears. Shortchanged by the Lord, and dumb as a jackass. Look at him now! Yes, sir, all you’ve gotta be is white in America, to get whatever you want. Gobbledy-gook!

How else to explain the Barack phenomena?

He promises to end “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” but does not. He complains about inheriting an massive budget deficit and then proceeds to quadruple it. He describes Afghanistan as “the war of necessity” and derides the Bush Administration for failing to put enough troops into the effort and then, when given the chance, refuses to give his commanders the troops they request.

And now? He gets the Nobel Peace Prize without having done a thing to bring any war to a halt. We haven’t seen this kind of enabling of idiocy since Peter Sellars put it on display in the role of Chance Gardener.

  • lightacandle

But at least Chance Gardner was good at gardening. From what I hear, the Obamas’ “organic” garden was a disaster because they neglected to have the soil tested first. And, gee, the guy has a whole department he could have called upon to test the soil, the Dept. Of Agriculture.

    Chance … 1

    Obama … 0

From what I hear, the Obamas’ “organic” garden was a disaster because they neglected to have the soil tested first.

You mean That One couldn’t talk his way into fertile soil?

      The dickens you say.

    • Hank

It was the Clintons that put sludge on the grounds of the WH. LOL! They must have gotten a good laugh when they heard MO was putting a vegetable garden.

      • lightacandle

Sludge is often used as a fertilizer for lawns, but it is not generally suitable for vegetable gardens. I would think the time to do a soil test (if the property is newly yours) is BEFORE you plant the seeds — not after.

But I guess soil testing is for mere mortals, not for anyone named Obama.

I’ll bet NO one named Obama is eating those vegetables.

I think Obama is more like the book, “Being There”.

    All words.

    • ~~JustMe~~

      and no action.

Perhaps my favorite movie of all time.

    Thanks for the excerpt.

    And, yes…. I agree…. it was a strange foretelling…

  • Ellen D

BEING THERE is one of my favorite films, but I didn’t see the similarity before Larry pointed it out.

In the movie, Chance has inherited all these fine expensive clothes and his appearance immediately tells everyone he is part of the upper class. He tends to parrot things said to him so everyone projects their own vision onto him.
Didn’t Obama once say that he was a blank slate and everyone projected their own desires onto him? Or was that a misquote?

    • TeakWoodKite

Ellen D, that was in a book he wrote. Although, it may have been a cruel joke by Bill Ayers, in a moment of sadistic pleasure, to be blunt enough in disclosing HOW he was using going to use BO.

      • Onofre’s arm

I think you’re absolutely right Teak. Ayers would have been counting on Obamas relatively lazy intellect to push it through unnoticed.

Goya used to make the rather dim witted Spanish royal family look like opulent morons with his portraits, and the beauty of it was that they were so stupidly arrogant, that they never realized what fools Goya had made of them. I detect something similar with AYERS’ book, “Dreams From My Father”.

        • TeakWoodKite

How true that. The best example of this for me was when BO took the stage in Oregon with Gen McPeek, ret.

McPeak dissed BO smooth as silk and went right over the heads of BO and the audience. BO made an ass of himself, as usual.

          • Onofre’s arm

In my opinion, Obama makes an ass of himself every time he opens his mouth. But he’ll never realize it as long as he is surrounded and stroked by his legion of slimy sycophants, whispering “You’re the Chosen One” in his satellite dish ears.

            • TeakWoodKite

              Re: satellite dish ears

I have never understood with that outstanding physical attribute he is so totally and utterly politically tone deaf.

Such are the mysteries in the life of a TeakWoodKite.

In truth, I am having a very difficult time finding any comparible film or visual art that can explain Mr. Johnsons question of
“How else to explain the Barack phenomena?”.

I think Charlie Chaplin, maybe.. a profoundly complex question.

              • Onofre’s arm

Right now there is a documentary of Jonestown on MSNBC. Other than 30′s Germany, could there be a better visual to explain the Barack phenomenon?

              • Onofre’s arm

Try this one out Teak. It may not explain Obama, but it is a striking portrayal of the bot phenomenon everywhere.

                http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KDLoHAXEqC4

The old mystic at the end is a metaphore for “reason”, and how the bots are so eager to destroy it in defense of their false God.

It’s also good for a few chuckles, enjoy!

  • Karen

I’ve thought of this movie many times in reference to obama.

Another movie which says it even better is “The Candidate” starring Robert Redford. After plucking Redford from relative obscurity, his handlers run a brilliant campaign and Redford wins the presidency; at which time Redford asks “What do I do now?” or something like that.

  • Onofre’s arm

Chance was entirely benign, to the core. Obama on the other hand displays a well practiced serenity that belies his truly malignant disposition. I’m sure the REAL Obama more closely resembles this cinema character:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zE41Kd1hrf8

Wouldn’t it be a great Captain Queeg moment if Obama has his expected psychological break before Oslo, and his acceptance speech resembles Aaron’s confession. Only in a perfect world.

    • oowawa

Chance was entirely benign, to the core.

Yes–exactly, Onofre’s arm. Chance did not try to razzle dazzle people. He was never playing a role. He never tried to aspire to a lofty position. He spoke honestly and directly. If anything, he was the opposite of O.

The similarity is in the gullibility of the people surrounding both Chance and Thee One.

      • Ferd Berfle

That One and the Bots do appear to turn just about everything on its head, to include comparisons and analogies. Through the looking glass, darkly.

        • oowawa

          Through the looking glass, darkly.

Yes Ferd, a “looking glass” analogy seems appropriate. Both Chance and O are like looking glasses into which the audience projects their illusions. The world wants to be deceived. The difference is that Thee One shrewdly manipulates that projection, whereas Chance is just naive.

        • oowawa

Almighty Spam Filter took my comment through the looking glass. Please rescue. Thanks.

      • FranSC

oowawa, I agree. 0bama’s lack of qualifications for the job he has is camouflaged by his ‘fancy’ education even though it was by way of Affirmative Action that he has tried hard to keep secret. He is obviously quite shallow but the ‘gullible’ are those who think all that glitters is gold.

You have to dig much deeper than those around Chance had to do. All the Chance admirers had to do was open their eyes and ears. 0bama is tricker to figure out than Chance.

  • Karen

Ellen D: Yes, you’re correct about the blank slate. obama did say that.

    • Ferd Berfle

You’re correct. That is a statement which should have set off sirens and alarms a mile away.

  • hc123

    Racist!

    • TeakWoodKite

      The facts are racist?

    • Peggy Sue

Oh, please! Tell me you’re kidding, hc. Besides the new accusation is “terrorist.” Or haven’t you been keeping up with the DNC manual?

      But racist? ((Yawn)).

      • hc123

Actually, I was kidding. But if you want me to call you a terrorist, I will. I like to keep up with the times.

    • Onofre’s arm

I so hope that you are referring to me hc. Since anyone these days, who recognizes that Obama is a sniveling, lying, worthless, and treasonous scoundrel, is a racist, I certainly don’t want to be left out.

    Being There
    Manchurian Candidate
    Trojan Horse

  • DAB

“Being There” and the “Candidate” had also previously occurred to me as apt representations. Another one is “Tommy”, but Obama, rather than being Tommy, is symbolized by the Marilyn Monroe false idol statue that is carted into the church — and the worshipers go wild.

  • Woodhull

I made this same comment (about being tired of the “Being There” moments with bo on another blog about a week ago. There were two youtube vids for this movie that defined some of my thinking:

The burial scene in which the casket bearers are trying to figure out who to elect president (sans the “Masonic Eye” thing) and the scene in which the current president and his advisors-cum-king-makers reinterpret Chance’s simplistic babbling about the seasons as economic advice.

    Larry,
This is a liitle late, but I was ECSTATIC to see your posting!!! The night previous to your post I suddenly realized (in my incredulous anger) that Barack Obama was “Chance the Gardener” and I was the disbelieving doctor. I decided not to share my epiphany with anyone because most people don’t even know the reference to “Being There” and most of my friends think I am once again being racist or just have it out for B.O. Thank God for the internet and your blog……..some of us just never fell for the Obama Factor and we are waiting for the rest of civilization to “WAKE UP”!!!! I am SO embarassed that Norwegians made such a naive choice (since I am half Norwegian) and have literally basterdized the Nobel Peace Prize in the process. Actually, I think I deserve a Nobel Peace Prize, too! Why not!! I’ve probably done more in my lifetime. Keep posting, Larry. It does my heart GOOD! Barbara J Davis
