The Most Amusing Quote of the Day

“White House official calls gays part of ‘Internet left fringe’.” This statement is rather unfair to the gay rights coalitions, but it is “dead on” about the hard-left blogosphere. And it’s damn funny that the White House is as sick of the leftie bloggers’ angry rants as all of us are.

From “BREAKING FROM NBC: White House official calls gays part of ‘Internet left fringe’” by the leftie blogger John Avarosis:

NBC just did a piece about today’s gay rights march in Washington. For the political context of the gay community’s ire, NBC went to Chief Washington Correspondent John Harwood. Harwood was asked if the White House was worried about “the left as a whole,” and concerns they have that the White House isn’t doing things that “the left” expected them to do. Harwood said the following:

Barack Obama is doing well with 90% or more of Democrats so the White House views this opposition as really part of the Internet left fringe. [Bronwyn's aside: As they say, truer words ...]

Harwood then went on to say:

For a sign of how seriously the White House does or doesn’t take this opposition, one adviser told me those bloggers need to take off the pajamas, get dressed, and realize that governing a closely divided country is complicated and difficult.

So the gay community, and its concerns about President Obama’s inaction, and backtracking, on DADT and DOMA, are now, according to President Obama’s White House, part of a larger “fringe” that acts like small children who play in their pajamas and need to grow up. (And a note to our readers: The White House just included all of you in that loony “left fringe.”)

I wonder how the Human Rights Campaign is going to explain how the White House just knifed our community less than 24 hours after he went to their dinner and claimed he was our friend.

Someone in that White House needs to be fired. Here’s the video:

And another thing. The country is “closely divided”? Barack Obama won the election by 192 electoral votes, Democrats control both Houses of Congress, have a filibuster proof majority in the Senate, and the opposition Republicans have been utterly decimated, and are floundering in the polls.

This is closely divided? This is an environment in which Democrats are going to have to recognize that the president is going to have to break his promises?

Maybe it’s time for some White House advisers to get out of their pajamas and read a newspaper once in a while. They might find out that we actually won the election (and that the blogs – and the gay community – played a key role in that victory).

This governing from a position of weakness and fear “thing” is getting old, fast.

During Hillary’s campaign, I developed a great relationship with a leading gay rights activist who whole-heartedly supported Hillary. Until, that is, Barack sewed up the nomination. Then my gay friend jumped on board with Obama’s campaign because — rather cynically — he thought it was smart strategically.

Yes, Barack H.Obama has just been nominated to be the next Pope, if he decides to resign from the WH, according to the Vatican. The source say this is a great move for the Catholic Church in it’s effort to bring the world together.

In another development, sources at the Vatican are weighing the option of declaring Barack H. Obama Jesus Christ himself.

Meanwhile in a closed door meeting in Mecca, where Mohammad is believed to land on his return, Muslim scholars are debating whether Mohamed is already here in the form of Barack H. Obama.

Stay tune for the next development.

I have not posted in awhile but speaking as someone who found a home here during the last presidential election and as a lesbian I have no use whatsoever for gays who jumped on the Obama bandwagon. Was Obama not the candidate who never attended a Chicago gay pride parade? Was he not the same man who sat for 20 years in a pew listening to Rev. Wright spew his hateful rhetoric? Was he not the man who went on a Southern religious revival with Donnie McClurkin?

Was he not the same man who said that he would have adhered to the strength of his convictions and would have voted against the Iraq war resolution had he been a Senator and then voted for retroactive immunity for the telecoms?

Any person, of any sexual, racial, cultural, religious, or political persuasion who is either unwilling or unable to use a critical eye on all politicians and come to an intelligent conclusion, based on hard empirical evidence founded in action and not words, has no place at the table!

Buyers remorse? John Aravosis can go blow himself!! He was a nasty little misogynist to Hillary all throughout this past election cycle. When Obama thought they were of use to him he didn’t care that most are over-pampered babies who are probably working out of mom’s basement still in their pajamas. Hearing that bit from the White House is the first honest thing they have uttered.

Because of their ignorance, meanness, and use of right-wing talking points from 12 years ago against the Clinton’s I don’t care what John’s thoughts or feelings are now. I cancelled subscriptions, turned off the radio, discontinued donations, and ripped up my Democratic Party membership. They are dead to me.

Speaking again as someone who is gay, gays who went along with little charade of a candidate have gotten exactly what they deserve. The only thing is that they will not be the only ones who suffer by their own hands!

Gosh, the road kill from the Obama bus is starting to add up. If he runs over many more people there won’t be anyone left to vote for him come 2012, and that will be as Martha says, ” a good thing”

  • Ferd Berfle

Thanks for the commentary, Bronwyn’s Harbor.

Someone in that White House needs to be fired.

I think there are a great many who need to be shown the door. This administration is entirely out of touch. That One sniped “I won” after the election but now talks of a “closely-divided” electorate. The ceaseless excuses, rationalizations, diversionary tactics, and outright lies this Administration will use to change the subject and shift the blame are self-evident. And this truly useless Democratically-controlled Congress is no better than the Republican-led that preceded it. They’re all bozos on that bus, to paraphrase Firesign Theater, and should be summarily thrown under it with the rest.

  • http://deleted BuzzisbackLatte

“closely divided” is an euphemism the Obama team uses for “we don’t really understand Americans”.

    Entirely out of touch? Yup!

And I imagine Obama butts his cigarettes out on chinchillas – to use another Firesign Theater funny. LOL!

  • ~~JustMe~~

I was shocked last week the Pope canonized 5 Saints and B Obama’s name was not on the list.

There is a God! Who I am sure has had a word in the Popes ear!

(All said in good taste of course) ;)

Apart from Kos and Huffington, some of the most ugly invective and slander against Hillary during the campaign came from ..Avarosis. He was so far up Obama’s ass but he still couldn’t smell the crap at that time. Just sayin’..

  • ImaLlindatoo

Impressive. Talk about Freudian Slips. We won’t get in to the entire…Gays aren’t radicals or extreme leftists, necessarily, or the fact that Gays are also Republicans and Inde’s and Libertarians. I just want to acknowledge, after that standing ovaation (by GLBT at HRC), how they now feel that Obama was just giving them lip service (again), with no intention of going all the way, because he considers them not worthy and just some small extreme group that he doesn’t have to pay attention to?

  • jwrjr

“closely divided” = “they would do it Obama’s way if only they understood how things should be”

  • Senneth

What you said, Eurogirl. Exactly right.

  • Mountainaires

vanroth, thank you for pointing that out because I saw Aravosis viciously attack Hillary Clinton during the primary too, and was so disgusted by it, I quit reading his blog. Aravosis was indeed “so far up Obama’s ass,” he couldn’t smell his crap.

Aravosis and the rest of the gay community ought to get a clue–they look like idiots. They are looked at with contempt for marching for gay rights and supporting a candidate who practically screamed his contempt for them at every turn!

Remember? Way back before he was even a candidate, Barack Obama wouldn’t shake Gavin Newsome’s hand because Newsome supported gay marriage in San Francisco.

So, ARAVOSIS is not only part of the looney internet fringe, he’s a moron to boot!

  • mary

Very good, balanced story here! Your gay friend deserved the treatment from Obama. He should not have deserted the person who has been consistent on this–and all other–issues: Hillary! She’s no fair-weather friend, like Obummer the Nobel Laureate!

  • mary

Please don’t label me, but I find that gay guys sometimes can be as misogynist (or worse!) than the macho-supremo-hetero-republicanos!
