My own humble opinion the key to ending the divisiveness and partinship and actually addressing the critical issues that face us, is a McCain/Hillary ticket. Far fetchted I know, but a man can dream.

The one caviat here is that the mainstream media is promoting exactly this line – that the reason for Clinton’s defeat has to do with sexism. It’s apparent they’re trying to program the public to accept this amorphous, unresolvable type of rationale and thus forget the central fact: the DNC allowed superdelegates to “vote” 3 months early after it chopped up Clinton’s delegate haul in Michigan and Florida on the excuse that those states voted 1-2 weeks early. This is how she “lost” and Barack was declared the nominee. It is pure hocus pocus. That’s why you don’t hear any conversation about Florida/Michigan and superdelegates on TV anymore. Big Brother is smart, and the only way to defeat him is to remind people everyday about the undemocratic coup d’etat that took place. It’s also up to us to redirect the public’s attention back to the crime scene – DNC Headquarters.

After 40 years of working and voting for Dems, I will only do so this year if Hillary is the candidate. I will never vote for the inexperienced, unqualified and fraudulent megalomaniac, Backtrack Obama.

As an Obama supporter and a fan of Hillary’s, I actually thought this was a pretty emotional video. But as for the actual examples of sexism:

- The “Iron My Shirt” guy: some local radio shock jock just being a jackass to get publicity for himself.

- Chris Matthews’ comments: yes, reprehensible and disgusting

- Obama saying ‘periodically’: give me a break. Not to get too icky and technical about this, but if he were referring to Hillary’s menstrual cycle, it wouldn’t even make sense as the vast majority of women of her age have already experienced menopause.

- Olbermann’s “One Man Leaves” comment: Bizarre, but clearly a misstatement. Given that Olbermann defended Hillary and Bill often early in the campaign (and quit his previous job years ago over coverage of the Lewinsky nonsense), something tells me that he wasn’t actually talking about _killing_ Hillary. I’m guessing that the secret service didn’t take it that way.

How many of you have freinds that would spend 625,000 to buy a lot or piece of land that they didn’t need so you could have your dream house for 300,000 less than it’s worth. Not me, Obama yes hmmmm favors anyone.

I showed the “Periodically, when she’s feeling down… she tends to lash out” clip to 25 different people at work. Without prompting, all but two of these people said that Obama was making a comment about PMS.

the long term impact of an Obama presidency will be the end of “progressive” politics as we know it for the forseeable future — Obama presents himself as a “progressive”, when in fact he has no ideological foundation whatsoever — and is likely to “govern” from the center (and define the ‘center’ as progressive). Real progressive politics will be relegated to the ‘fringe’, because Obama will be presented/perceived as being as far ‘left’ as ‘reasonable’ people can be.

IMHO, Obama lacks the basic competence to govern effectively — and the character to govern appropriately. I think Obama represents a far more ‘dangerous’ president than McCain, because Obama (like Bush) is all about his own ego — and this is especially dangerous in terms of foreign policy. Obama’s willingness to ‘throw people under the bus’ who don’t worship suggests that he will engender just as much hostility toward the US as Bush does…. and Obama is even more likely than McCain to start a war with Iran if Iran acts “unreasonably” — ie, doesn’t act like Obama thinks it should act.

This was Seattle and it was very dangerous there.
Streets lined with vicious code pinkers and kids on the edge of violence. When Hillary campaign cars pulled in front of the venue there was near mayhem.
The kids videod it and were saying the b word and everything as Hillary rode by. This was not a shock jock but an extension of what was going on all around the building. Then when she went to Tacoma WA they had to barracde the I_-5 bridge and tell people there was an accident so that Seattle kids couldn’t get across to storm her rally in Tacoma. There were weather underground followers getting ready to storm the Tacoma rally.
I notified the police the night before. They were guarding the entrance to the Tacoma rally and the smaller group of code pinkers who got there before the bridge block were out there insulting the older women rally goers. It was scary. It was in Feb 2008.

That number is truly astounding and gives me some hope. I went to the county election office the Monday after the RBC meeting to change to Independent and there were two women behind me there to do the same thing. Not a huge number, but still significant in the context and time frame.

I am a 58-year-old male Democratic loyalist and this video has re-triggered my heart’s memory of, and abject anger at, all of the trash attacks endured by Senator Clinton. I have thought about this for a month since the force-out occurred at the DNC RBC meeting and, even though I am a 40-year+ Democratic loyalist and cash contributor, I WILL skip the top line on the ballot in November if Senator Obama is the eventual nominee. I will NOT vote for McCain, however, and I will continue my yellow-dog support down-ticket. And not a dime from here-on to any of the major national Democratic organizations. I don’t know those people any more.

My anger is so deep now, and NQ has given expression to it, that I will be saving my Democratic contributions for websites like this, so that Susan and Larry and team (and all of the other PUMA sites) can try to rally enough Democratic superdelegates to stop this blasphemy against the party.

Kudos to you! Ditto for me on cash contributions. I think Just Say No Deal deserves some support. They are doing a great job. Ditto for some blogs that are professional and aggressive on the issues. I think I’m convinced that some down-ticket people deserve contributions. I’ve contributed to Hillary’s debt deal, too, although I’m not as worried as many of the articles I read. She’s got 40 million in GE funds that can be redirected to pay off the debt. The way he’s handling or mishandling the unity attempts suggest to me, anyway, that many of those funds may well not be redirected to him but back to her.

Even if that doesn’t happen, I still think one great country tour where Bill talks about the campaign lessons would be fascinating for the public and pay off the debt plus more. I’m frankly hoping for that.

You mean you’d want them to marry an ambitious man, put up with his lying, cheating, and philandering for years, and all of the public embarrassment and humiliation that entailed, while at the same time working to destroy the reputations of the women their husbands doinked on the side, then carpetbag in a state where they had never lived, ousting a perfectly viable woman in the primary?

I can think of different role models for my daughter.

We feel the same way. Frankly, I’m still a bit stunned at all I saw, read, and heard during the primary. For the first time in my political life, I’m disconnected, emotionally, from the Democratic Party. I just don’t know them anymore.

Some of the problem for me came from the amount of time I spent among the Obamaists at Daily Kos. Those people were vicious and every day, I would find myself asking, “are these people really Democrats?” In all my years, I don’t remember Democrats lashing into another national Democrat this way — at least not since Johnson in ’68.

So, I’m having a major disconnect from them, posting here for the first time today after reading this site for several months, and making my first post-Hillary contribution — to this site. I need a voice badly right now and Susan and Larry (and Team) are the ones providing it for me. And, I now so regret past contributions to Daily Kos and Josh Marshall’s site. Never again.

Can somebody make a list and/or video of the women, men, newspapers, magazines, and anyone else who wrote or spoke anti-Clinton articles or remarks (especially the worst ones). I think if we have something to refer back to it will help to keep alive what we witnessed this primary season. It will help us with our goal to at least make the democratic superdelegates, the DNC and Pelosi et al pay for this fraud of an election. I like to reference back and I find the videos are most helpful in refreshing my recall of this despicable time in our history.

Wear a yellow rose to honor our right to vote as women, (which we have had for less than 100 years –Women’s right to vote amended to the U.S. Constitution 1920) and in protest of any and all party officials who maintain, we don’t matter!

A Historical reminder.

Nashville, Tennessee: August 18, 1920
In the hot and muggy month of August 1920, a national drama brought its final and perhaps most spectacular act to Nashville. A year before on June 4, 1919, the U.S. Congress had voted to append thirty-nine words to the Constitution. Simple, straightforward words, but for all their brevity, they packed a punch. Nearly everyone who read them, or even heard about them, felt provoked to take a stand. Those thirty-nine words comprised the Nineteenth Amendment which, if ratified by thirty-six states, would give women the right to vote.

By August 1920, when the issue was to come before the Tennessee State Legislature, the amendment was one state shy of ratification. Thirty-five states had passed it. Despite the mere sliver of a margin that blocked ratification, the Suffragists and their supporters knew victory was not inevitable. Indeed, the Anti-Suffragists had good reason to hope that if Tennessee failed to pass the Nineteenth Amendment, the “Perfect Thirty-Six” would never be realized and the law would die. What ensued was a “war of the roses,” with its primary battle waged in Nashville during an oppressively hot August.

The town teemed with reporters from New York, Chicago, Washington, and Boston. Celebrities such as the national suffrage leader, Carrie Chapman Catt, traveled to Nashville to help spearhead the drive for ratification. She joined forces with one of the prominent Tennessee leaders, Anne Dallas Dudley, in organizing a strenuous female advocacy. Tennessee women from rural and urban backgrounds, different social classes, and different races worked together in writing letters, making speeches, and canvassing legislators. Despite their diversity, they were united under a single symbol: the yellow rose. Yellow roses, in fact, were in vogue in Nashville that summer. But so were red roses–the flower of choice for the Anti-Suffragists. Even the legislators “showed their colors” by wearing roses on their lapels.

Counting the number of red roses worn by the representatives, the Suffragists knew they were in trouble for the pending vote on August 18. By the roses, it appeared the amendment would be defeated 47 for and 49 against. In the first roll call, however, Rep. Banks Turner came over to the Suffragist’s side and the vote was deadlocked at 48 for and 48 against. The second roll was taken and the vote remained 48 to 48.

With wilted collars and frayed nerves, the legislators squared off for the third roll call. A blatant red rose on his breast, Harry Burn–the youngest member of the legislature–suddenly broke the deadlock. Despite his red rose, he voted in favor of the bill and the house erupted into pandemonium. With his “yea,” Burn had delivered universal suffrage to all American women. The outraged opponents to the bill began chasing Representative Burn around the room. In order to escape the angry mob, Burn climbed out one of the third-floor windows of the Capitol. Making his way along a ledge, he was able to save himself by hiding in the Capitol attic.

When tempers had cooled, Burn was asked to explain the red rose on his lapel and his “yellow-rose” vote. He responded that while it was true he was wearing a red rose, what people couldn’t see was that his breast pocket contained a telegram from his mother in East Tennessee. She urged him to do the right thing and vote in favor of the amendment. Governor A. H. Roberts signed the bill on August 24, 1920 and two days later, the Nineteenth Amendment became national law. One hundred and forty-four years after the Declaration of Independence, American women had earned the constitutional right to vote–thanks in large part to a woman named Febb Ensminger Burn and her son, Harry.

Unquestionably this is a very important part of the power Obama had with the Supers, but don’t omit the fear the party elders had of selecting Hillary over the first black candidate. Black caucus threatened reprisals
of all kinds at the voting districts and in the party and without.

A coup with two powerful aspects. Money and voting bloc. Without the black vote the Democratic Party would suffer defeat, and the caucus made the most of this.

Hillary remains their threat, so anything goes regarding damaging her legacy in every way possible.

But the coup was totally executed by moving the DNC to Chicago to be ruled over by the Chicago political machine, and removing any DC power away from the party.

A sad and sorry story.
