I tend to assume personal attacks are just a way of dodging meaningful discussion, when someone’s uncomfortable with the actual points that have been raised.

remember how they accused President Clinton of the wagging finger, but I guess it is a pass for anything that OB wants to do, criticism free zone.

Nixon spoke of “the good people … who don’t protest”, meaning the anti-war protestors were not “the good people.”

Other than Nixon, you’re right. Usually, they save the insults for the opposition party, not Americans who vote for the opposition party.

And Obama’s lying again. Bush got reamed by his base on immigration. Rasmussen reports 73% of Republican voters think their party is out of touch with their values.
