WOW! Even though Manning is an ex-felon, arrested in Florida and MYC, there are real nuggets of truth in his ‘sermons.’

This is pure supposition. Obama could turn out to be a good president. He does, after all, advocate what are basically mainstream democratic policies.

It’s important not to get so totally focused on uncertainties about Obama that we totally fail to take into account the what we actually do know about the direction the republicans have set for us. There’s a basic truth about John McCain: Nothing he’s said since he began his campaign represents a significant deviation from the policies currently being pursued by George W. Bush. If anything, he’s swung more into line with Bush policies. He formerly opposed the Bush tax cut distribution scheme, for example, but now firmly states he will make the Bush tax cuts permanent. He has no plan to address the nation’s economic problem. It’s not even clear that republicans understand how serious and how systemic the problem is, or that many of their own policies have been directly responsible for it. Commenting on the economy and Bush’s term of office, John McCain said this: “I think if you look at the overall record, and millions of jobs having, being created, etc., etc., you can make an argument that there’s been great progress economically, over that period of time.” (“Money & Politics,” Bloomberg, 4/17/08)

It shouldn’t be a matter of simply rejecting Obama out of hand. It should be a matter of carefully weighing one candidate’s set of policies and perceptions against those of the other–keeping in mind that by voting for one or the other, you’re not just empowering a person, but a political party and all it represents.

How much damage might Obama do? That’s a legitimate question. So is this one: How much damage have the republicans already done, and how much more might their policies do if they go 4 more years unchecked?

I read. Gann’s remarks were about the leaders being whiners. I agree. The problems we have are the result of horrible leadership, and that includes Pelosi and Reid. Obama voted for bad laws on energy. The speculation fueling this crisis now is the result. Put it on him. There were bad laws passed about the financial industry. He wouldn’t even vote to limit credit cards to 30%, for God’s sakes. Put it on him.

Gann is right. There ARE solutions. We need real leadership to implement real solutions.

And I’m positive based on the slim record that Obama offers, he ain’t it.

I believe we are a Democratic nation who has lost our way; a nation without effective leaders who constantly “settle” for those who rise beyond their highest level of incompentency; thus our nation continues to fall below the high standards set by our great leaders.

It was said during George H. W. Bush’s first presidential run that he had a difficult time finding a vice president candidate who did not overshadow him. It seems that Barack Obama is having the same problem.

But I say to all you Obama disciples who come here to insult us, that this is not about your candidate, not about what he wants, wishes or desires. He has asked for the job of a public servant; someone to represent We the People to the nations of this world.

And it is our job to choose the right leader for the job. Mr. Obama refuses to present a resume, perhaps because it is so thin. Whatever the reason, we have the right to reject any candidate for lack of experience or lack of ability. It’s not personal, but you have made it personal. But in the end, it is the decision of We the People, not parties, not candidates, not even the government; because a government without People is no government at all.

Maybe because Clinton isn’t running for President anymore.

And if you think most people here are Democrats, you’re sadly mistaken. Here’s some homework…Go through every thread this last week and count the number of times you see the word “Marxist.”

Obama was never the puritanical liberal idealogue you projected him to be. And neither were the Clintons, which always baffles me. The king and queen of triangulation are now liberal icons somehow.

Obama is a hard nosed realist, who plays politics in a way nobody’s ever seen. He’s changing the landscape rhetorically, monetarily, electorally. Yes, he’s human and flawed. His pastor was a controversial rabble rouser and he had to rub elbows with some unsavory characters to get ahead in politics. The Clintons have received money from Rezko, too. And they sought the religious counsel of Jeremiah Wright as well. For every Rezko, there is a Norman Hsu. Remember him?

But to envelope yourself in 24/7 Obama hatred, you miss the forest AND the trees.
