The Japanese soldier did horrible things to our people. They kill people for fun and use civilian for experiment. As you pointed out, many of the POW were killed. Their action were as bad as the Nazi's treatment of Jews. Most of us Asians are still angry with the lack of remorse on the part of the Japanese government. What they did was inexcusable. But two wrongs don't make a right. The killing of mass civilian cannot be view favorably. I think the war fatigue was one one the reason for the bombing. But looking back, I can honestly say that's a good thing. On second though, the Japanese did benefited from the rebuilding effort of the US and get to be where they are today as a result of it. And happens when we let fear drive us. My family was interned in Japanese concentration camps in the Netherlands Indies - what is now Indonesia. Horrific things happened to them, many died. It's one reason I'm so against war. But if we can't learn from history so that we don't make those same mistakes again, all of that pain and horror was likely in vain.
