And now, a word about the ads we’ve posted recently, with a MUST-SEE UPDATE ADVERTISEMENT!!! –>>>

The Barack & Michelle Obama Paper Doll & Cut-Out Book (Paper Dolls)

Last year, for one month — thanks to all of you who purchased your holiday presents through NoQuarter’s links — we actually came out even in covering the expenses of the blog.

December 2008 was good to us because enough of you purchased your gifts via Amazon. Every other month, we don’t come close to paying the expenses of running this blog, and Larry Johnson picks up most of the costs.

There have been several of you who’ve donated directly to our blog, and we are so very grateful to you. That’s the kindest gesture possible, and it means a lot to Larry.

Since it’s the time when most of you will be purchasing gifts, we so hope that you’ll link to Amazon through one of our ads. Yes, you can click on ANY of the ads, and our blog’s ID will stay with you as long as you don’t close the browser window. If you do exit, and return, we’d be grateful if you took the one extra step of opening our blog and clicking again on any of our Amazon ads.

And, if you have gift ideas that you think we should advertise, we’d love to know about these products.

Thank you — ALL OF YOU — for your wonderful support.

P.S. Just to give you an idea of all of the great writing published here at NoQuarter, check out all of the stories we’ve done that respond to the search terms, “Obama Messiah.” You’ll find some great reads.

Here’s one gem by Larry Johnson: “TNR Fellates Obama.”

And if you dig further, you will find even more great classics by all the NoQuarter writers, including:

  • Obama: Dubya 2 Electric Boogaloo

I love the “Hammer”. The guy is definitely my favorite talking head on Fox (next to Megyn Kelly!)

The narcisim of the man is unbounded…

Far as I know, the Hammer is the only one that calls The Baby Obama out for the narcissist that he is.

  • lorac

If we are interested in something that isn’t specifically shown on this page, and we use the amazon search button you have, will that have the same effect of kicking back to NQ?

  • lorac

I thought “the Hammer” was a republican guy in Congress – ah, I can’t think of his name, but I think he left Congress a few years ago…. is “the Hammer” also a nickname for Charles (because of the end of his last name)?

  • http://! stodgie

charles and his views hae a way of growing on you.

  • Obama: Dubya 2 Electric Boogaloo

I know about Tom DeLay, but that’s what I call Charles anyway!

  • barry bums a ciggie

The first Pacific president? Coming from the man who didn’t want to acknowledge or even mention Indonesia during the primary. He only talked about in passing when he thought it served him politically, just like his middle name Hussein. Someone should tell Barry that he is the President of the US not a Dean of some university pitching for foreign enrollment. Other foreign leaders must be having a good laugh behind his back.

  • Bronwyn’s Harbor

Yes it will! Or you can click on any specific item, then use Amazon’s search, and it will keep our tracking ID as you keep shopping.

    thanks for asking!

  • Bronwyn’s Harbor

FYI: I got a small gift certificate from a relative, and got the “32% Off, $13.50: Bergan Turbo Scratcher Cat Toy (Colors May Vary)” item in the right column. It is an instant hit! And the cats use it for scratching instead of, ahem, my furniture!

To make it come to $25.00, my relative had me send her a copy of Sarah Palin’s book + I got the little squirrel catnip toy, which comes with a separate tube of catnip, and a Velcro opening in the toy so I can keep adding more catnip.

The nice part was that the book went to one address and the cat items to my address, but there was free shipping anyway.

  • Bronwyn’s Harbor

FYi, you will usually see noqua-20 in the URL when you’re at Amazon. Thats a sure way of knowing that NoQuarter will get credit for the sale.

    E.g.:

    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001O5CCM4?ie=UTF8&tag=noqua-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B001O5CCM4

  • Bronwyn’s Harbor

I am so fond of him. Sure, he’s a Neocon, but i love his braininess, his wit, and his passion.

And can you imagine what kind of a psychiatrist he is? It must be great for his patients. I imagine he’d be no nonsense but also a great listener.

  • http://firefox AnnieCarmel

Sounds like you have a lucky kitteh!

  • Ellen D

    Thanks BH.

Now that I know, I’ll do all my Amazon shopping as a click-thru from NQ.
That applies no matter if I subsequently sign in on my Amazon account as long as I start at NQ and don’t leave Amazon in the process – right?

That should be fairly simple to remember – if I want to go to Amazon, go to NQ.

Taking Amazon off my favorites list and putting NQ in its place should always remind me.

  • lorac

I know Megan Kelly had a baby, but is there any word when she is coming back?

  • Bronwyn’s Harbor

They hadn’t had toys in like forever, and are very smitten especially with the cat scratcher toy. They sniff it — because it also comes with a package of catnip to sprinkle on the cat scratcher part — and then they go at it with their claws. My furniture may get a break!!! I love my mitten kittens but it is irritating to see holes in the furniture. (Of course, I’m opposed vehemently to declawing so .. it’s my responsibility to make sure they have a way to sharpen their claws. At my former home, there was a saw horse that they loved to use. Trees and telephone poles are other favorites. One of my cats defaced the electric/phone pole and I wondered if the city would complain :) :))

  • http://firefox AnnieCarmel

hmmm, might have to try the cat scratcher toy. Sadly, I am catless but my daughter has two mature cats who need a bit of entertainment. They lived in town all their lives and had the whole neighborhood as their playground. Now they’ve moved to the country…they go out during the day but never stray far from the house because they instinctively know there are bigger critters out there. Max, in fact, wakes at 5am for his morning constitution and will only go if my daughter stands at the door waiting for him. There’s a fox family just down the hill that he avoids.

I do love the little characters though with their quirky personalities. They truly are amazing aren’t they?

  • Galt goes to Hollywood

Drats, I thought you were selling the Baby Jesus. I could have used one for my lawn manger display. /snark

  • I’m a Linda too

WOOT, missed that and it’s a goodie, thank you.

Oba-Mao’s problem is he’s so confused on opposite sides of the world. Here he bows to his donors, over there he was supposed to turn around if he was going to hold out his hand and expecct them to fill it with cash.

  • Cindy

BH– Charles K. wasn’t always a neocon. He was a liberal at one time…..But like Irving Kristol said ” a neocon is a liberal who got mugged by reality”.
I love Charles K. and appreciate your column today……and thanks for the ads/buying tips!

  • Peggy Sue

Oh, Bronwyn. I’m so glad you mentioned this tracking thingie through Amazon for NQ. I just put a book and vid order through Amazon and would have certainly ordered through NQ had I known.

But now I do and will follow suit for any other purchases.

Btw, I heard Krauthammer’s comment when he made it. Really made me laugh. As I’ve said before, I certainly do not agree with everything the man says, but you’ve got to respect his erudite skills and his gift for the turn of phrase.

As I said, the comment made me laugh!

  • Bronwyn’s Harbor

    I can search Amazon!

You know, i did fail to advertise the Michelle Obama doll. Shall i?

  • http://deleted BuzzisbackLatte

If Krauthammer used the “narcissist” word – you can bank on narcissism as being the essence of Obama.

  • Portia Elizabeth

For anyone who’s interested, if you go to SARAHPAC and donate $100 or more, she will send you a signed copy of her book, Going Rogue. The email I received says the money will go to help elect people from either party who will go to Washington and fight for the people.

  • Galt goes to Hollywood

Wait a minute and let me make sure my barf bag is handy… ;)

  • hc123

Wow, I will do all my Amazon purchases by clicking one of your links if thats how it works.

    And Krauthammer is awesome.

  • Portia Elizabeth

Bronwyn — something’s not right. I used the search slot to look for Susan Boyle’s CD, but when it took me to Amazon, there was no noqua in the address. Do you still get credit for the order?

  • Bronwyn’s Harbor

I just added an update advertisement in the story, below the fold. I can only imagine how many of you will have to buy this.

  • Bronwyn’s Harbor

Yes, since he strictly goes by the DSM criteria. And he most certainly knows both the diagnosis of narcissism and the evident behavior that leads to that diagnosis.

OT: In fact, he said the other day — in re the ridiculous theories about Mjr. Hasan — that PTSD is NOT in the book as a legitimate diagnosis. Interesting. It is a theory. Some agree with it, some don’t, he observed.

  • Galt goes to Hollywood

Oh yeah, I’m gonna order a gross for certain! ;)

  • Onofre’s arm

Does it come with plenty of stick-pins and a live chicken to sacrifice?

  • Onofre’s arm

One is gross enough, what will you do with the other 143 of them?

  • Galt goes to Hollywood

Ding! You got my double entendre! Hand that one a prize!

  • Onofre’s arm

Perhaps these should be marketed in conjunction with the cat scratch toy, give the little devils something to REALLY sink their claws in. Or at least they’ll be excellent litter box liners.

  • Obamastolemycounty

OMG! In that paper doll add, if you look there are some more paper dolls, namely “The President Barack Obama Paper Dolls.” Who on earth is that blonde woman standing with him supposed to be (and does MEMEMEMEchelle know about this? She must be outraged)?

  • Clara

I need clarification about the Amazon purchases and how to be sure they go to NQ. If I click on an ad, the browser address has the NQ in the address, but if I go to another section of Amazon from there, say from the cat scratcher to the book section, there is no mention of NQ in the new address. Should it also be there when you go to the cart to checkout?

I’m ready to shop! Just waiting for directions.

  • azblondie

    This could be fun…

Another great gift idea! Chia Obama!!

    http://www.amazon.com/s?ie=UTF8&keywords=chia%20obama&index=blended

  • Bronwyn’s Harbor

Yes, surely. For some reason, sometimes, it’s not included in the URL but Amazon assures us we get credit. I will check tomorrow and leave you a note here…. I can’t tell who buys what (for your privacy), but I can tell if an item has been ordered today. I’ll see if that Susan Boyle order shows up for Nov 17th’s orders.

    And THANK YOU!

  • Bronwyn’s Harbor

Yes they are! Always entertaining and unpredictable. Also jealous. One cat hates me on my computer, and he puts both paws on my mouse hand, with all his weight on it.

  • Bronwyn’s Harbor

It should work as long as you don’t open a new window.

And the noqua-20 id doesn’t always show up in the url but, as i noted in a reply above, Amazon assures us that we will still get credit. still, i’d feel more secure if the noqua-20 were always there.

    THANK YOU!!!

  • Bronwyn’s Harbor

That is just ugly and bizarre.

  • tango

Does it come with a god awful wide belt strapped right under her boobs and a poochy (NOT PUCCI) style dress that makes her look like she has a fat tummy and butt? If not, I don’t want it.

  • http://deleted BuzzisbackLatte

I am very familiar with the DSM-IV-TR and I was pleasantly surprised that Charles K stepped out there with an interpretation of Obama’s, shall we say, behavior.

There is no such thing as secondary PTSD, as Krauthammer said. It was just more crazy spin to downplay the real Hasan and all that goes with him.

I very first time I ever saw Obama on TV, I knew the guy had some issues with reality.

  • tango

I watched MSNBC actually run the Charles Krauthammer clip this morning on the Morning Joke show. It was great.

  • lorac

BH – PTSD is definitely in the book! It’s in the anxiety disorders section. I think I saw the segment you referred to, and he was talking about vicarious trauma not yet being in the book, not PTSD. But I know, all over the web, I see people using the concepts interchangably, so I understand the confusion.

The concept isn’t old enough yet to be in the book; they do a lot of research and incidence statistics before they decide to include something in the book – which isn’t revised very often in the first place!

  • lorac

Buzz, I can’t remember verbatim what he said, but I believe he said it’s not in the book yet, not that it doesn’t exist.

In the 30 years I’ve been involved with the field, there have only been two editions (and I believe two small revisions). They have been working for several years on the next edition (Ed. 5) of the book (which still won’t be out for years), and there is a Task Force which is evaluating whether to include vicarious trauma. So, it’s certainly better for something to be in the DSM, but it’s not an overnight thing – it takes many, many years, even just for a new edition to come out.

Here are a couple of links to pdfs talking about vicarious trauma, if anyone is interested.

    http://tiny.cc/Mz1Lw

    http://tiny.cc/VDaaC

I would have to hear the segment again, but my guess is that his bottom line was that this soldier didn’t have vicarious trauma. If,instead, his big point was that there is no such thing at all, irregardless of inclusion in the DSM, then I would chalk it up to his not practicing psychiatry, and not being up to date on the field of trauma.

  • lorac

Ha! The paper doll cut out book isn’t “anatomically correct” – that’s not MO’s face, and it’s certainly not her middle section!

  • Galt goes to Hollywood

The Prezidunce Obysmal paper doll is anatomically correct: no backbone, no brains and no balls. :D

  • http://deleted BuzzisbackLatte

Perhaps Charles’ own words will help clear up any misconception on “secondary PTSD” or “compassion fatigue”‘. The point is, it is NOT found in the DSM-IV-TR. The point being: There are some who believe it does exist, others that don’t. It’s inconclusive at this point as to it’s true existence.

    http://townhall.com/columnists/CharlesKrauthammer/2009/11/13/medicalizing_mass_murder

    Does it exist? Do aliens?

Something that isn’t recognized fully as existing is not going to be convincing in a court of law.

  • lorac

Well, for that matter, the whole concept of categorizing psychological disorders by symptom checklist (ie, the DSM) is not even recognized by all. There are no definitive markers as there are in medical science – at this point, the psychological diagnoses are still all statistically-based, human-made constructs. Not the exact science that medicine is closer to being.

  • Portia Elizabeth

Thanks for your reply. I hope it gets recorded. I ordered two other CD’s along with Susan Boyle’s. I’ll also be humming to Patsy Cline and Johnny Mercer. :)

  • hokma

You should call Krauthammer the Velvet Hammer because he does it with such class and self-restraint.

  • politicsisdirty

Awesome comment Mr. Krauthammer. Never misses watching Special Report by Brett and one of the reasons is your intelligent comments.

    More power to you.
