In addition, Sen. Clinton doesn’t need money. She has a hundred thousand volunteers (at least) ready to gather signatures for an independent run and she’ll raise a lot of cash if she gets back in. More importantly, like her husband says, she’s already won the general election with the constituencies she’s got lined up behind her.

The problem is she’s been attacked viciously by people in her own party and social circle. It’s really a hate crime that happened to her. Every woman politics knows it, yet few of her peers there in Washington have the courage to speak out about it. Sen. Boxer, especially, should have stepped up to the plate by now, but instead simply switched her endorsement to Obama. It’s mystifying.
