Two Powerful Women On Two Powerful Women

* Bumped Up *

I was delightfully surprised to see Carly Fiorina, former CEO of Hewlett Packard, and Lady Lynn de Rothschild, big-time Hillary supporter together discussing issues related to women in politics, especially Sarah Palin and Hillary Clinton. In the clip below, they discuss the double standard of the media toward female politicians compared to male politicians:

Isn’t that incredible, that the AP put 11 factcheckers on Palin’s book, and NONE on any of the men? We know already that Obama’s book, Dreams of My Father, was filled with erroneous facts, unless time travel is now possible and I missed it (e.g., the March on Selma inspired Obama’s parents to have him four years after he was born, Kennedy bringing his father over from Kenya, etc., etc.). This is not unlike the horde of “investigative reporters” running up to Alaska to turn over every rock to dig up dirt on Palin when none were dispatched to Chicago to extend the same courtesy to Obama.

Yep, I’d say there is some double standard by the MSM. Their furor over Governor Palin is practically rabid. I have to say, it is kinda funny to watch them get all worked up, isn’t it? Except that so much of it is sexist beyond belief (like the recent Newsweek cover/article). But, other than that…

Since ady Lynn de Rothschild mentioned our Hillary, here she is speaking to the troops in Afghanistan this week:

You’ll notice, nary a teleprompter in sight! When one is capable of speaking from the head and the heart simultaneously, like Hillary Clinton can, one does not need one. Her support of the troops is evident, and judging from the response at the end of her remarks, the feeling is mutual. That’s our Hillary.

Good to see that some folks are paying attention to what the MSM has been doing with Governor Palin. I hope having two women of this caliber, Carly Fiorina and Lady Lunn de Rothschild, will help to keep the MSM honest. Hey, a girl can dream, can’t she?

  • SuperGalt

The dream I long for the most is that some day, there will be no separate rights being fought over for individual groups, but only a profound respect for all human (and sentient-life) rights equally.

The last general election became a turf war over which group’s rights were more important and one “side” bullied and cheated to “win” via the most evil shakedown I recall happening in the last 50 years. Ugh!

What did they win? Just more bigotry, prejudice and the installation of an evil tyrant.

  • MrMike

Sexism or the desire to manipulate the outcome of the 2008, 2010, and 2012 elections by the media?

  • Kristen-in-ohio

Wow- Hillary was AWESOME when speaking to our troops. I don’t think anyone could have spoken more heartfelt and sincere of her appreciation of their service to our country. It is such a stark difference to the administration. It is seeing things like this that I truly appreciate her being our Secretary of State. I initially thought it was a horrible idea to be attached to this administration but to see her interact with these people I see her heart to serve. And no teleprompter or notes…. just Wow- blew me away.

And I saw on a clip of Sarah Palin on Greta where she said Hillary was doing a great job. Women supporting women- what a concept!

  • lightacandle

Considering the psychotic nature of the hatred directed at Sarah Palin (mostly by the Obama supporters), I think it is not far-fetched to believe that, given the opportunity, some Palin-haters would eagerly join in the stone throwing we usually associate with backward countries (backward with regard to women’s rights).

I was and remain a Hillary supporter and was dismayed by the virulent nature of the Obamabots’ attacks on her, but I think the hatred and scorn directed at Palin are even worse. Others may not share that view, but that’s okay as I do not insist that everyone has to agree with me.

  • Freedom Fighter

Why are you still promoting Sarah Palin? It’s been demonstrated by journalists, comedians, and Hollywood entertainers than she is an idiot and can barely string a coherent sentence together. Andrew Sullivan has also compiled a long list of Sarah Palin lies.

    http://andrewsullivan.theatlantic.com/the_daily_dish/2009/11/michelle-goldberg-gets-it.html

You folks are discrediting yourselves by hitching your cart to some backwater country bumpkin who didn’t where Russia or Africa is located, or never had a passport until she is running for VP. If you are truly champions of women’s causes, you should be supporting strong women like Michelle Obama, Oprah Winfrey and Nancy Pelosi.

  • James

But there’s nothing the least bit irrational about blind hatred for the POTUS, of course…

Much of this seems to be governed by the psychology typically found in professional wrestling audiences.

  • SFIndie

“Blind hatred” for POTUS, James? No, neither blind nor hate. There are many people who recognize, with conscious awareness, that our current President is not qualified, never WAS qualified, to BE President. Discussing his inexperience and lack of leadership, his lack of focus, his narcissism, the choices he’s made which have resulted in the country going deeper in debt as unemployment rises, and the debacle that is “health care reform”, among just a few issues some of us might be concerned about, is not “blind hatred”. It is speaking truth with eyes wide open.

Too bad we can’t say the same about the venom directed toward Sarah Palin. Hell, towards women in general these days.

  • thinker

What blind hatred? Your statement suggests that criticism of Obama is unjustified. Obama is not qualified to be president, but rather than gaining the experience that would have qualified him for a job that put him in charge of the lives of hundreds of millions of people, he arrogantly decided that he wanted the job anyway. Well — he has the job and just as the smarter among us knew, he simply does not have the experience to handle it.

  • Touchet

Man, she is supposed to be almost 70 years old? She is on the mark. She may be 70 but her brain is still young.

    Love her.

  • Touchet

Yeah, such hatred. Like speaking about specifics in health care bills and administrative decisions. Such hate towards lack of decisions with dealing with the military.

Guess we can take comfort in the fact that such hatred is directed toward Hillary and Palin in the form of policy decision based on the clothing they wear. The wrinkles in Hillary’s skin. The “tone” of her voice.

Yeah there is such a comparison of hate there.

  • SuperGalt

Not the tired old worn out hatred meme again. Or did a stray dog poop on the rug? ;)

Its all projection of their hatred of free thought, dissent and the fact there are millions of citizens who will never succumb or knuckle under to their group-think of blind and ignorant allegiance to dear leader Tyrannosaurus Rex.

The ride is only going to get rougher for them. Bush supporters faced this precise exact juncture and look where they are now. Same thing is happening to the T-Rex supporters as I type…

Popcorn and a cold tall one anyone? :D

  • Julia

    She’s only 62.

  • http://N/A breeze

    JAMES,

Like the RACIST card, the VICTIM card is only
getting more and more tiresome, it’s NOT work-
    ing anymore….

    GIVE IT UP,

    THE ONE (TM)

is way beyond over his head’!!!

  • BINKY

I know a lot of people who did not vote for Obama, still do not believe he’s taking this country in the right direction. I know of none that carry any “hate” blind or otherwise in their hearts for this man. Give it up!

  • jbjd

Wow, R3A. As if the video of CF and LLdR was not enough, you added the video of HRC addressing international troops in Afghanistan. (Notice how she adeptly managed to address her remarks to the troops from all countries but was able to focus on ‘her’ countrypeople without seeming to neglect others present?) Tears, again.

  • James

Yep. A lot of comments over in the Pelosi thread demonstrate people are quite comfortable referring to Nancy Pelosi as a “bitch”. No inconsistency there, right?

  • Surfered

So,are you condeming Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck for calling Sen. Mary Landrieu a prostitute? Just asking.

  • James

If anyone has been playing the victim card lately it’s the republicans, who are attempting to cast the entire nation as the victim of some sort of liberal conspiracy. Much of the evidence they point to is argueably the result of their own past actions.

Pointing that out, of course, is playing the blame card.

  • SuperGalt

Seriously “A lot of comments”? Its a good thing I trust my own eyes and not you. There is one comment calling her a bitch as of now.

People make themselves look foolish when they make up facts to support their assertions…

  • elizabethrc

It’s also something which the main stream media refused to discuss during and since the election. They far prefer that we voters stay uninformed and misinformed, which may be worse, and they shall guide us to what they consider the ‘right’decisions in their infinite wisdom.
The MSM and Obama followers have nothing to fall back on, as he makes blunder after blunder (bowed to the Indian leader in the White House today, no less…why am I not surprised?!!) so they spew their irrational hatred (and fear) in our direction.
I guess they never heard the expression “oil off a duck’s back”.

  • elizabethrc

Frankly, I’ll take Hillary’s ‘wrinkled skin’ any day over Obama’s ‘chia pet’ hair.

  • SuperGalt

Without commenting on your assertion of Republican victims, there are plenty of liberals + moderates (former Dems and dissenting Dems) and non-Republican conservatives who agree generally with the Republicans opposing Obama, i.e. your conspiracy theory of a conspiracy.

Have you considered you are playing the victim of a conspiracy concocted in your own imagination? I assert there is no “us against them” and you are letting yourself be manipulated by party and ideological allegiance.

  • elizabethrc

Landrieu DID prostitute herself by selling her vote to the highest bidder. She deserves to be recalled by her constituents for corrupting her office.

  • SuperGalt

Thanks for the videos of Carly and Lady Lynn, and of Hillary. I was a Hillary supporter and voted for Sarah. I’m reading her book right now. I don’t agree with a lot of her views, but she is awesome with her accomplishments as Governor. I think she was smart to walk away from the Democratic Party attempts to wear her Down with ethics complaints. The beauty of it is that they shot themselves in the foot. Now she’s on the loose and reloading. The book gives a totally different picture of her and that’s why they want to destroy her.

She is awesome. I think a dialogue with her about abortion and other issues would be more productive than having to filter it through the guys and hope they stay with us. Their lack of protest over the treatment of HRC in the campaign spoke volumes. this morning I thought of a dream ticket of Hillary and Sarah. Talk about uniting the country!

  • James

You’re absolutely right. It’s important to be precise.

That was one bitch, one b*tch, and one henchwoman , which isn’t actually misogynistic unless used in reference to some other prominent female politician.

  • http://firefox AnnieCarmel

The latest, of course, is Obama supporter, Martha Stewart. She also trashed her competitor, Rachel Ray a week earlier as a do noting, know nothing. I think what people like MS and MooDoo have in common is a hateful, vindictive, competitiveness toward anyone who might steal their thunder. I believe if Sarah’s M. O. was transferred to 0zer0, Martha Stewart would invite him to her show to make Moose Stew. Sarah confused? No, Martha. I think you are the confused one and with a very closed mind.

  • SuperGalt

Correct, there is one b*tch, which I missed, since I searched for “bitch.”

    “henchwoman” does not count, IMO.

In any event, you still fail on saying “a lot of comments.” Its an exaggeration, based on 2 or 3 comments, the third being debatable as counting.

Nice try, but you fail to wiggle out of your unfounded broad-brush generalization.

  • Ani

I loved what Hillary had to say and I was particularly moved when she spoke of the troops families back home, making clear that in their way, they are serving as well, holding it together stateside. It was lovely of her to acknowledge them in such a heartfelt way. Her experiences as First Lady for eight years and an a Senator for 8 years with 6 years on the Senate Armed Services Conmmittee make it clear she gets the troops and understands their sacrifices.

    What we could have had…

  • IndianaDem

I suppose I’m unqualified to judge. I’ll leave it to the ladies to decide if being called a bitch twice in fairly short order qualifies as a lot of sexist language.

  • Ani

You are distracting from this discussion. Pelosi has never had to endure even a small percentage of the horrid treatment that Hillary has. Pelosi also got on national television and lied when she said there was no sexism in the 2008 campaign. She is the first and biggest one to kick the ladder out from under Hillary because she knew she wouldn’t be able to do what she is doing now with someone with true leadership ability.

How many people think Hillary would have outsourced healthcare to Pelosi — or any other legislation — she would have provided the leadership Congress was complaining they didn’t get with Obama. Further she has a ten times better understanding of the economy and foreign policy than the incompetent Obama can ever hope to have.

That is not hatred. That is the truth

  • SuperGalt

Its disingenuous to me, to use the broad brush in this instance, to make a larger point. The end result is lack of credibility to the larger assertion.

  • SuperGalt

That is not hatred. That is the truth

    Bravisimo Ani! :D

The hate meme always backfires on them. I don’t know why they persist in using it. Go figure. They do seem to be their own worst enemies.

  • elizabethrc

Martha, with that statement: She’s dangerous….she’s confused…” showed me two things: she can’t think on her feet and she doesn’t understand politics. She certainly doesn’t get it that Palin is anything but confused, but is quite clear in her thought processes. What, after all, is Martha Stewart if not superficial…look at her product…it’s all about surface without substance. When did you ever hear her discuss anything of substance?
I think Palin wouldn’t waste her time on such tripe as MS.

  • elizabethrc

I don’t think Chris Matthew’s heart could take the shock.
What a delicious dilemma that would pose for the haters of women (that would be just about everybody in government). And the Dems would have conniptions.

  • layla

Even though men are married to women and are straight does not mean that they aren’t STRONG woman haters. They hate strong women because they are not true men, they are insecure boys, masquerading as men, ah Matthews got a thrill up his leg, and Olberman, who trashed Bush then proceeded to trash Sen H. Clinton. Olberman is nothing – he sees where the popular liberal views are, then goes down that line – it shows how stupid msnbc is – their ratings are lower than ever. Gotta be proud, eh? LOL
I never watched Fox, but after what the dem party did to Hillary, I watch FOX now and never MSNBC.

  • layla

I used to like and respect Stewart – but not anymore – I will boycott everything she makes and every show she does.

How abt both? I don’t think they are mutually exclusive. The MSM certainly showed how incredibly sexist they could be this past election…

  • http://www.rabblerouserruminations.blogspot.com/ Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy

Indeed, Ani what we SHOULD have had…

Hillary is absolutely right – people cannot serve without the support of family and friends at home. Too often, that gets lost in the mix, but it is so true. Of course, leave it to our Hillary to acknowledge their sacrifice, too.

Hillary did quite a bit for the troops during her time as senator – she really does care abt them, and it shows.

  • http://www.rabblerouserruminations.blogspot.com/ Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy

    Well said, Ani, well said.

    And SFIndie – great response!!

    Kristen-in-Ohio, I share your sentiment!

  • Onofre’s arm

I would never call Nazi Pelosi a bitch, it would be rude to female dogs.

  • candymarl

Really? So when they tried to pass an anti-gay marriage bill when Palin was Governor and the people of Alaska objected she vetoed it.

When Senator Ted Stevens (R) and his son came under investigation Palin refused to cover their butts and was vilified by her own party for that she was an idiot?

I thought the original story was making fun of Palin because she joked she could see Russia from her backyard and didn’t know Africa was a continent was the complaint. That has morphed into she doesn’t even know where they are?

Andrew Sullivan is a twit. He should enter the Monty Python Twit of the Year contest. He also hates Hillary Clinton who has marched in Gay Pride parades over a period of years. Obama hung out with the likes of McClurkin who want to make gay people straight. Obama supports DOMA.

So forgive me if I think Sullivan is full of it.

  • candymarl

Palin proved as Governor that she would abide by the wishes of her constituents no matter her personal views. There was an anti-gay marriage bill that crossed her desk. The people of Alaska didn’t want it. She vetoed it. Despite her personal views.

Andrew Sullivan is supporting Obama who is for DOMA and against gay marriage. A guy who hangs out with McClurkin and company.

Andrew Sullivan is full of it. He certainly qualifies for Twit of the Year. Cue Monty Python.

Ani, way back when Mr. Johnson had mentioned that after then Senator Clinton was briefed, what impressed him was how well informed and prepared the Senator was. “Scary Smart” was the phrase he used.

It confirmed my personal opinion of her which has not changed.
There was a recent WH photo of a cabinet meeting, with BO holding his hand out like an Italian trying to make a point.

Gathered around the table were the members of his cabinet. Guess who was taking notes all the while listening?
Photo’s tell many things. This one showed conclusively, that SOS Clinton was the only one that didn’t look goofy, including POTUS.

I could give a rat’s @ ss what either of them think. No one in their right mind would trust either of these two women.

Lynn (Bilderberger) de Rothschild was introduced to her (then married) husband Evelyn de (Bilderberger) Rothschild (who ditched his wife for her) by Henry F#cking (Bilderberger) Kissinger at a Bilderberger conference in 1998. Her older son Ben worked for Hillary (Bilderberger) Clinton’s campaign, even as did she, before Clinton’s engineered loss to (probable newly minted Bilderberger) BHO http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0509/22957.html, http://www.dailypaul.com/node/51545 and de Rothschild’s subsequent endorsement of John (American Friends of Bilderberg) McCain http://www.jonesreport.com/article/01_08/090108_mccain_bilderberg.html, and her younger son, Jake Stein, worked(s?) for Mayor (Bilderberger) Bloomberg’s campaign. She is a close associate of Lord Mandelson (Qaddafi pal), George Soros, Rupert Murdoch, corporate raider Lord Hanson (dead now), to name just a few. Oh hey, they’re all Bilderbergers too!

“In response to a reporter’s question about her wealth, Forester said, “Is that said about me? I hope not. I mean, I’m just who I am. I don’t think being rich is that important. I think not being boring is really important.””
    Yeah, whatever.

“Carly Fiorina walked away with $45 million, including a $21.4 million severance package when she was dismissed by Hewlett Packard in 2005.” …”Fiorina was dismissed as the CEO of Hewlett Packard in 2005 after a merger with Compaq floundered, stock prices plunged 50 percent, and 20,000 people were layed off. Fiorina walked away with a $21.4 million severance package” http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalradar/2008/09/mccain-economic.html

Carly Fiorina also sits on the board of the African Leadership Academy with Khalid al-Mansour/ aka Don Warden, the guy who probably financed (probable Bilderberger) BHO’s fancy college education and who is also a financial advisor to Saudi Prince Alwaleed bin Talal (business partner of the Bushies), and Saudi billionaires Abdul Aziz and Khalid al-Ibrahim.
    http://www.africanleadershipacademy.org/site/about/governors_and_advisors/

Fiorina also sits on the board of Revolution Health with Colin (Bilderberger) Powell and other BHO luminaries, a company which is currently being looked at for receiving millions funnelled to them by Larry (Bilderberger)Summers.
    http://www.alternet.org/workplace/140327/is_larry_summers_taking_kickbacks_from_the_banks_he%27s_bailing_out/?page=entire

Btw I do not mean Bilderberger in a conspiracy sense, I mean it in the literal sense of a group of extraordinarily wealthy oligarchs members of the Bilderberger Group who have in large measure shaped the US political scene for far too long.

admin, post is in Spaminator, please rescue, thx very much (it was long and had a few links)

FR – first of all, highlighting the sexism and double standards surrounding Palin (and Clinton) are not the same as an endorsement. People here are free to think for themselves.

Palin certainly did know where Russia and Africa were. Regurgitating discredited rumors does nothing to strengthen your argument.

In terms of Russia, it is precisely because of their close proximity that Palin’s role as Commander in Chief of the National Guard was so important. There is a unit on active duty constantly because of the potential threat from Russia. But hey don’t let facts influence your opinions! :-)

As for her being a “country bumpkin,” again, that is just one of the “talking points” espoused by the Obama/DNC machine.

In any event, I think a lot of people here are simply angry over the attacks on women in general from the Obama Admin. and the DNC, so even though many of us don’t agree with her politics, we RESPECT her as a person, and as a former governor with a tremendous amt of leadership/administration under her belt. More than can be said for Obama…

There is, indeed, nothing more annoying than to be, for instance, wealthy, of good family, nice-looking, fairly intelligent, and even good-natured, and yet to have no talents, no special faculty, no peculiarity even, not one idea of one’s own, to be precisely “like other people.”

Did you notice how the hostess made a statement to Lady Lynn about democratic women “eviscerating” Sarah Palin and then quickly cut off any response from her by turning to Carly for her thoughts on fact checking? Watch it again and see how contrived it is.

Also twice on Greta’ show I noticed republican women (Kay Baily Hutchinson for one) try to say the MSM only savages conservative women. Both times Greta stopped them in their tracks and made them admit that the MSM had savaged Hillary too.

Hearing Lady Lynn and Carly talk so honestly shows up those others (the two on Greta and this hostess)as either a sock puppet or a cheap, obvious “hangers on”. They demean only themselves in their attempt to bring this debate down to the only level they know.

    They have missed the train.

If you are truly champions of women’s causes, you should be supporting strong women like Michelle Obama, Oprah Winfrey and Nancy Pelosi.

I think the media tries to make them look strong. Palin doesn’t need the media, #1 Book, extremely long lines for an autograph. So who is a stronger woman? Didn’t Oprah get her largest tv viewing of her show by having Palin as her guest for the last few years. So get your facts right…You should be called hemorrhoid fighter or Preparation H. There you go two names that you can alternate.

I think the issue many people are having is she was hesitant to vote in favor and had to be bribed in their eyes, thus the accusation. Thus also the accusation the vote was akin to money for sex.

You can dice things like this into debating points, but the bottom line is the perception of the electorate — that’s what got the GOP booted out of Washington, and that’s what will ultimately get the Dems also booted out as well. Winning the debate on a blog is by and large irrelevant. The tide goes where it goes regardless of the intellectual fist to cuffs typed.

Expect the heat to be ratcheted up as the economy continues to flounder. The Iraq War was Bush’s albatross, the economy and potentially Afghanistan is Obama’s.

  • Cathy in Ks.

Thanks so much for your post. I thought the treatment of women in this country had greatly improved. What happened in the 2008 democratic primaries to Hillary Clinton was beyond my comprehension. Then came Sarah Palin and it was no better. But both Hillary and Sarah are doing more than “fine” now, no thank to most of the MSM and people like Martha Stewart who “confuse” “opinions” with “facts”.

I also admired Martha Stewart and subscribed to her magazine for many years. I really appreciated how she took the domestic work that many women(and men, too) do for “free” for their families and raised it to a highly valued “art form”, not to mention the business empire she built upon those same domestic arts. I still admire that about Martha. But unfortunately, Martha stereotypes and tries to dismiss Sarah Palin in the same way that many have tried to do to Martha. It’s amusing how Martha labeled Sarah both as “boring” and “dangerous”. Not that the two traits cannot co-exist in the same person, but I think if Sarah Palin were truly “boring” to many people, MS and other Palin haters would not even consider her worthy of notice, let alone comment.

  • NomNomNom

Leave it to our Hillary to acknowledge their sacrifice, too.

Also, RRR Amy, leave it to Hillary to know exactly the right thing to say and the perfect way to say it.

Not only ‘should’ Hillary have been elected POTUS, I’m convinced she ‘was’ nominated (she had the most votes in the states that mattered the most; DNC took delegates from her that represented 500,000 voters and gave them to the their selected nominee) and no doubt would have won the ge. But, because of the evilness of the DNC, Pelosi, Dean, et al, Hillary would not be recognized for her top vote getter status. Instead it was a cover-up. The fraud that appeared to nominate the ‘pre-selected’ candidate was ignored as well. His core supporters were people under 34 years of age.

Palin is a staggeringly stupid, borderline corrupt, gold-digging quitter. And you lot salivate over her like she’s some kind of equal to Hillary Clinton. What’s wrong with you all?

  • Onofre’s arm

Hitler was democratically elected. He was loved and adored for awhile, until people really got to know him. Some people were wise enough to despise him from the outset. Maybe the folks who view Obama, NAZI Pelosi, and Reid as the filthy scum that they are, are just like the intelligent types that hated Adolf from the start. Just because someone is democratically elected doesn’t mean they’re not worthy of complete contempt. And if you don’t like reading the opinions of people who realize that stinking scoundrels have taken over our country, perhaps you should go elsewhere. Ba-bye.

Ooo, I like that thought Buzz. Thanks for this post Amy. I saw the segment when it aired and really enjoyed it. I hope Carly wins in CA and sends Boxer packing.

Though I am very glad to see that she seems to be recovering her health, I think she should take the millions she sucked out of Comapaq/HP and go away.

If ever there were a poster child for what’s wrong with corporate America, she is it. She gutted two exceptional companies in the most callous manner. Downsizing while spending frivolously, She had no business sense what so ever. She merged Compaq and HP then gutted them. Spouting buzzwords like “Synergy” and “poised for growth”. The Compaq HP merger had the synergy of a lead balloon. Poised for growth as she slashed and burned. The company had exceptionable financials and it survived her. She is the female corrolary to the the male “empty suit”..

Being called the B word once is enough for any woman. It’s like calling a black person the N word “once” or “twice”. Once is too much.

See, now you are bashing another woman.
Can we pleeeeze stop bashing women.

I think Sarah is impressive. It’s so typical to call a female stupid. She is anything but stupid.

Palin is a staggeringly stupid, borderline corrupt, gold-digging quitter. And you lot salivate over her like she’s some kind of equal to Hillary Clinton. What’s wrong with you all?

    Maybe its just me, but…

Calling yourself “Nasty” I presume is to label yourself a troll on purpose? This sets the tone for incendiary remarks such as above apparently designed to inflame the regulars of the blog. Your tact might work with some here, but most will see right through it. There is no way of knowing what you really believe about Governor Palin, but your purpose here is transparent to me. By the way, a “nasty fan” is an oxymoron.

Your arguably maliciously defamatory remark about Governor Palin (“Palin is a staggeringly stupid, borderline corrupt, gold-digging quitter.”) plainly reveals your intentions: to invoke a response and create your own mini flame war. At least that’s how I see it.

Your assertion “And you lot salivate over her like she’s some kind of equal to Hillary Clinton.” implies you want us to believe you have any respect for Secretary Clinton. Could be, but this is doubtful. I suppose you would have to posit this in order to make the comparison you just did.

By the way, there is no lot of you‘s here. There are many different opinions, views and that pesky inconvenient nuance and subtlety you conveniently ignore about the entire blog.

Perhaps you come from a land of group-think and assume others walk in goosestep to their leader or views? NQ is no black or white only universe of goosesteppers.

I think its you who is salivating, perhaps more foaming at the mouth at the dissent that irks you on No Quarter?

Your statement “What’s wrong with you all?” begs a mirror. There is no “you all” here.

Speaking of “plainly reveals your intentions” it is you who have.

I guess someone reading this comment might want to know “why bother?” I like to understand what makes people tick and expressing my observations aides in this regard.

Where’s Ferd? I think he would call our new(?) friend Nasty a “concern troll” for using Hillary that way? :D

  • SuperGalt

Nasty, one can logically make comparisons of today’s climate to Nazi Germany. You may not like the argument, but it is valid. There is no exact direct comparison possible, but there are troubling similarities to many folks.

Perhaps the “Obama Youth” was not such a wise move? ;)

FF, you mean the pod feminists? LOL!

That “what’s wrong with corporate America” you refer to has much to do with what’s wrong with American capitalism, and what’s wrong with the American economy in general.

Again and again, we see situations where those guiding the courses of large-scale enterprises can extract the greatest personal rewards via strategies that boost short-term corporate profits but diminish the company’s long-term prospects. This is most often done in cooperation with others who profit in the short run, under the cover afforded by temporarily rising share prices that are bound to drop in the long run. The decision-makers escape with their rewards; small shareholders and workers are left to face the consequences; and one more gear in the complex machine that is the national economy begins to malfunction.

Multiply that scenario across the entire landscape of large-scale American manufacturing and financial service industries, and you get the results we’re seeing today.

If you try to correct this, you will likely be accused of being anti-capitalist and of interference with the free market system. The loudest accusations will often come from those who stand to profit most from the abuses. Conservative Americans get suckered in, because the accusations are tailored to resonate with their own legitimate, common sense understanding of the free-market economy, and with the value they place on being rewarded for individual creativity and effort.

  • SuperGalt

    Conservative Americans get suckered in

The same issue applies conversely to liberal Americans: they can get suckered in by the alleged correctors supporting their views.

In this ideological battle, both sides (liberals and conservatives of the electorate) are being suckered in. The systemic problem is the human animal with its propensity for greed and ego. The greedy and ego-based tend to rise to the top and manipulate the system, meanwhile bloggers for example, are duking it out and the evil doers are laughing all the way to the bank.

Everyone is being played both sides to the middle by morally bankrupt manipulators.

    My two cents. :D

SP said that? Good for her.

I am ambivalent about SP, but for someone who has been dismissed as an idiot, a quitter, a liar, etc., she certainly is getting alot of attention (and becoming a multimillionaire to boot)!

  • Phillymiss

Sarah may not be a rocket scientist, but I don’t think she is stupid. I keep on hearing how brilliant Obama is, but he has yet to show it. Isn’t this the guy who said there were 57 states?

  • Onofre’s arm

I Haven’t rewritten history, I’ve simply recited it with the hope we don’t repeat some of the same mistakes.

If you could objectively read “The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich” and you weren’t aware how the story would turn out, then you might not think things in 1936 Germany were so bad. Germany hosted the Olympics, Adolf was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize, and the Nazi’s were just a powerful political party. Fascism seemed to be the way out of the depression, and Mussolini even praised “Roosevelt’s assumption of extraordinary powers as evidence that dictatorial methods were superceding democratic governments.” Hmmmmm, I’m getting deja vu.

It would take an extremely closed mind for someone well educated in history to not recognize the many parallels between 1930′s Germany and what is happening in our country today. And one of the most striking similarities is the potentially destructive and creepy “cult of personality” that is pandemic in a usually perceptive country. Since you belong to that cult Nasty, I’m sure any criticism of your icons is intolerable for you, but I’m also sure you had no problems with some of the viciously evil things said about Bush for the last nine years.

  • ziggy

What bears greatest similarity to 1930s Germany is the extreme political polarization and attendant loss of rational perspective that such comparisons exemplify. The current push seems to be to divide the nation and all issues into a matter of us and them, while demonizing them.

What has exemplified America at its best is that we’ve generally understood that there’s a single us, even when we’re in disagreement.

  • NomNomNom

    charcoal….

  • Onofre’s arm

Which side of the equation is doing the polarizing Ziggy? Tea partyers are called horrible names, returning Vets are potential terrorists, Republicans “Want people to DIE!”, the families of conservative politicians are ruthlessly attacked, etc.

American Girl in Italy had a wonderful thread here that exposed the blatant hypocrisy of the radical leftists who have no problems spewing the most vile invectives at their enemies, but squeal like stuck little piggies when even mild criticisms are aimed at their own heroes.

The polarizing you’re complaining about is coming mostly from the left Ziggy, and thanks for making note of the similarity, the Nazis were masters at demonizing their enemies, much like today’s progressives.
