The Sun is the most prominent feature in our solar system. It is the largest object and contains approximately 98% of the total solar system mass. One hundred and nine Earths would be required to fit across the Sun’s disk, and its interior could hold over 1.3 million Earths. The Sun’s outer visible layer is called the photosphere and has a temperature of 6,000°C (11,000°F). This layer has a mottled appearance due to the turbulent eruptions of energy at the surface.

Solar energy is created deep within the core of the Sun. It is here that the temperature (15,000,000° C; 27,000,000° F) and pressure (340 billion times Earth’s air pressure at sea level) is so intense that nuclear reactions take place.

Now I like geothermal energy. I am all for it and think it is underused right now. That being said… Al Gore likes it too, but hasn’t the first clue about the Earth’s geology apparently. He is on the Tonight Show saying that two kilometers deep, the Earth is a couple million degrees hot. Think about that as a non scientist… two kilometers isn’t so deep… a couple of million degrees? Like two kilometers of dirt and rock could insulate us from that heat… Besides that a couple million degrees is more of a sun temperature. But he has Nobel Prize and we don’t. Here is a video of the wise one. Thank our lucky stars for Florida and the quirky way they count votes. It could have apparently been much worse for us.

Finally, climategate is gaining steam. Just the word climategate being coined is a good start… but this is growing legs at least in the foreign press. I think this is the way for the foreseeable future… the foreign press and the Internet media is going to have to be our protectors. The world’s protectors.

You see here Harp, I can’t tell if you’re saying “Yikes” to the raging Michelle, the morning Michelle, the Muslim Obama, or my kittens. Or did something just happen to you that startled you into typing “Yikes”? Did you see a mouse? Is this new format so fast that it can post our thoughts before we can type them? I don’t want to be a wet blanket……..but……..could this format detract from the often serious nature of the issues being discussed? Sort of like “The Wall Street Journal” with color photos and and a Comics section.

I am still dreaming up all of the new mischief I can indulge in though.

And it IS FAST!

Perhaps one last thread on the old format where we can express our concerns and address the possibilities, should be considered.
