These SEALS should be given a trial by jury in a civilian court (with protections equal to those given to the enemy combatants!), and I’d love to be on that jury! Why in the name of all that’s precious to us would anyone want to join today’s military???

Vince Flynn writes believable stories. I love Marcinko’s books too.

I don’t know what is going on in our military but it appears political correctness has encroached too far on how the military is run.

The charges against these men is as dispicable as Obama’s choice to try prisoners of war in civilian court.

Add to it General Casey’s remark after the Fort Hood terrorist act (“Our diversity, not only in our Army, but in our country, is a strength. And as horrific as this tragedy was, if our diversity becomes a casualty, I think that’s worse.”) and you can understand why Iran and other enemies of our country laugh at us and don’t take us as a serious threat now.

NomNomNom, first I do hope you had a great TG.
It is apparent that these Seals don’t think having a negative report in their files is appropriate or just. I get the impression, from what few accounts I have been able to read, that these Navy seals have no intention of taking a bum rap and will challenge this proceeding out of principle. I would.

As you said, they follow orders, and the one thing that would irrate the crap out of a Navy Seal is bullshit accusations arising out of carrying out those orders.

The other thought is that the CYA has reached all the way down the ranks regarding BO saying “we don’t torture”.
This whole episode WILL be noticed by our special forces that this nation sends to do a nasty job they have been well trained for. We do NOT need them second guessing the orders they are following.

I’m thankful for my loving aunt Ethel Markowitz who is my hero and the person who shaped my thinking. My aunt is a humanist of the first order: she is a vegetarian who serves tofu burgers on Thanksgiving (instead of joining the savage slaughtering of turkeys). She was the one that gave me my first copy of the Communist Manifesto when I was 9 and taught me about fairness, justice and equality. She was the only one that supported me when I came out of the closet and even hooked me up with a much older and experienced boyfriend when I was 12. This woman is so tireless in her love of justice that she is a volunteer activist for Code Pink. She works at a restaurant and whenever a guy in a soldier’s or police uniform comes in, she spits in their food. If it’s a soldier carrying a holstered gun she also blows her nose in their food. I admire and thank my aunt Ethel for what she does for world peace and for making America a better place and for being so selfless. Fight the power!

well I will stick my neck out.
One of the 3 SEALS is believed to have struck Abed after he was already subdued and in custody; then 2 of his friends lied about the incident in reports and to superiors trying to protect him. This is obvious when one looks at the charges against them:

“Matthew McCabe, a Special Operations Petty Officer Second Class (SO-2), is facing three charges: dereliction of performance of duty for willfully failing to safeguard a detainee, making a false official statement, and assault.

Petty Officer Jonathan Keefe, SO-2, is facing charges of dereliction of performance of duty and making a false official statement.

Petty Officer Julio Huertas, SO-1, faces those same charges and an additional charge of impediment of an investigation.”

Regardless of one’s opinion on punching terrorists (“alleged terrorists” for the pcers), dereliction of performance of duty, making false statements, impeding investigations, and assault are all against the USMCJ, therefore these are all rightfully punishable offenses.
The men were only initially given an admiral’s mast (Article 15)(which they refused in favor of a court martial): this is NJP.

From what little I have read about the “jihadists”, prevarication is a virtue, if in the process you destroy the infidel. Surely our military and our government are aware of this, if the average, not very well-informed citizen knows of this (here I’m referring to myself). Sounds like a case of “he said vs. they said” situation but the murderous, lying, terrorist is the one who is being seen as the most credible person.
Yes,I too wonder if there is something more sinister going on here? Does the “buck not only stop” with our CIC but also “start” with the same person? I don’t know. However, I’m going to start reading Vince Flynn’s novels. Sounds like a good place to begin.
