there would be no need for any of the so-called major networks to send journalists overseas if ABC, NBC, and CBS still had foreign bureau chiefs. After Peter Jennings crashed and burned in the 1960′s at a network anchor he went to Europe for “seasoning” and eventually became ABC’s London bureau chief. Now “news” can best be described as “info-tainment” with glorified weather bunnies reading the news. The Brits have it right. They call their nightly news readers just that; news readers. They do not presume to confir the title of journalist on these “news personalities”.

Obama spent a lot of time poo-poo’ing the cover – in order to discredit the article inside the cover.
Effect: If the cover is ridiculous, it’s obvious the article must not be credible.
So while Obama appears to be thin-skinned, his overall goal is to prevent the public learning *factual* damaging info about him.

eurogirl–A funny thing happened to the Media in the last few years. They ceased to exist. They are owned by 3 major corporations and the News is what they tell us is News. I think this came as a surprise to Republicans just how cheerleading has taken over news coverage. When McCain took two trips to Iraq and Afghanistan recently — no reporters followed him. My sense of Obama before I read the article was that he was a narcissistic fast-track artist with no interest in substantive achievement; it’s all about successful networking and self-aggrandizement with him. When I finished the article, I realized that Lizza hadn’t challenged that view in any way. I was initially confused, because the tone certainly wasn’t that of an anti-Obama polemic. And then it hit me: Lizza sees being a narcissistic climber with a genius for networking as a good thing. Accomplishments are beside the point, and, anyway, hard work is for suckers. Another epiphany hit: this is how everyone in the New York and Washington media establishment feels. There’s nothing better than pulling a seven-figure salary to sit on your ass and ignorantly pontificate on the news. These media people are clueless even when they tell the unvarnished truth.

I totally agree. I’ve been silently watching this issue since it started and I never once saw him produce one shred of information that he hadn’t already produced many months ago. If this really happened, I am very sorry and it’s awful, but I do NOT see one shred of information that makes me believe that it happened. When I do I will apologize profusely–as nobody dislikes Obama any more than I do. Till then, the guy has stretched his 15 minutes way beyond the tolerance of any patient person.
