Will Obama’s Campaign Tell Pelosi To Shut Up?

With the approval rating of the Congress under Nancy Pelosi falling–now at 14 percent in the NBC/Wall Street Journal poll last month–will Pelosi’s negative image drag down Obama? Instead of displaying the slightest glimmer of self-awareness of her own liability, Pelosi is doing her best to alienate Hillary’s supporters.

Of all the issues that could be addressed, why does Pelosi vehemently attack Hillary’s followers?

We recall that Obama became the presumptive nominee only with Pelosi’s backing and that of her group of super delegates.

Obama, after all, lost the popular vote, the Latino vote, the women’s vote, the working class vote, the Catholic vote, the Jewish vote, and all the big states except his own.

Pelosi put Obama across. Does she think she will control him? Does she want to be the Big Skirt in town? Whatever her weird motives, they are now undermining Obama. His big problem is that many of Hillary’s supporters remain skeptical about him and don’t see him as an adequate nominee.

Now he’s got a new problem: Nancy Pelosi’s running mouth, a babbling brook of hostility. If Obama wants Hillary’s supporters he needs to put a cork in Pelosi.

  • John

You know, it seems to me that if anyone should be addressing the “problem” of us Hillary supporters, it’s not the Speaker of the House, it’s Barack Obama.

But then, this is the person who said a few months ago that she was going to “step in and stop” the contest between Obama and Hillary “if it isn’t settled soon.”

Pelosi seems very interested in being Czar of the Democratic Party, official Obama Spokesperson, pretty much everything except Speaker of the House.

(OH BTW, off topic but this cracked me up- a woman called Ed Schultz’s show today and told him “you ought to be working for the Obama campaign.” As if he hadn’t been doing that all fricking year! Schultz’s reply: “Well, I’m not on the payroll ha ha ha.” Like nails on a chalkboard.)

  • Hillcrat

    Shame on you Nancy Pelosi!!

    Two words:

    NO Deal!

    PUMA!

  • wodiej

Pelosi can’t run the peoples house so she shore as hell ain’t got the judgement for anything else! With that low of an approval rating she should be keeping her damn pie hole shut!

  • Pollpatrol

It seems she is trying to push her little pal from Texas in as the VP. Coupled with the fact that she is horribly out of touch with the electorate.

That is the only explanation I can see for her vile destructive outbursts. She’s been saying no way to HRC being the VP since March.

    THE REAL OBAMA

Today what was formally known as the Rezko Watch now called The Real Barrack Obama posted what very few MSM reporters are even aware of. It is important so please understand who Obama really is as a person. Who he associates with and who he knows will make all the difference in the world for us Americans. Obama right under the eyes and noses of the reporters has had contact with a wanted man on his big Iraq tour!!!!!!!
    read it for yourself…..

Hopefully not. Keep on digging the grave, honey. Or maybe Obama throws her under the bus. Either way, I’m happy.

  • SFK

What a tiresome and disappointing mediocrity Pelosi is. I keep marveling at what has gone on this year. Now all my “list” of people I send info to are just replying they are “scared.” It’s like one of those wayang puppet dramas in Indonesia, with a cast of stock characters in their evil masks.

  • Shainzona

I hope Pelosi keeps blabbing…it will just make BO’s Nov. defeat that much sweeter.

  • Pink Panther

As a Californian and a life-long Democrat, I am completely embarrassed by Pelosi. When she took impeachment off the table, it was a warning signal something was not right in her decision-making process. The woman is either obtuse or there is a hidden agenda.

She and the other “new” Democrats are obviously placing their own power, self-interests and glory above the country’s well-being.

  • AF catfish

Was Chet Edwards one of her rivals who contested her for Speaker? Why Chet Edwards?

  • Ferd Berfle

Hell, they ought to tell each other to shut up and then do it.

I have to wonder where the Democrats got the idea that we owe them our vote and that bullying us will accomplish their goals.

I don’t anyone has ever changed my mind with bullying tactics.

I’m not skeptical about the “O” candidacy…I’m certain! No way will I vote for him. I think Pelosi forced her way into the speakership and then lost her way. Maybe Hoyer should have been elected.

Nancy doesn’t have to do a thing to alienate me. I am already uncooperative without her. Frankly, I enjoy it. The more people she pisses off, the more they will trip over themselves to go vote.

  • Dave

Pelosi is in way over her head, she is a liberal idiot that hasn’t a clue to whats going on in the real world ! With someone like her leading the Democratic Party, the party is bound to fail. Her counterpart in the senate, Harry (the moron) Reid, is also not the brightest light in the harbor. One can only hope that these two fail in any endeavor that they take on. The odds are against these two doing anything right for the country …..

  • Seattle Moss

    It’s not just Pelosi..
All Democrats that were involved in the Fix of this nomination are looked upon with similar scorn and indignation.

    We remember!!

  • Michelle

Here’s the story – Yes, Pelosi does think she will control Obama.

    How? You ask

    Two words: The budget.

If you haven’t noticed, the Congress has yet to pass any of the appropriations bills (13, I think ?) for FY 2009 (which starts on Oct. 1, 2008 and runs through Sept. 30, 2009). She is on record (with Harry Reid) saying that they are NOT planning on passing any of them until Obama is in office.

Meaning that, rather than being grown-ups and working with Bush to pass a budget – they are not going to do it – and they are simply going to fund the government for the first 4-5 months of FY2009 by passing CRs (continuing resolutions, which means that everyone keeps getting what they got in FY2008 – nevermind that for most agencies that is a CUT because of inflation and population growth).

Now – how does Obama play into that. Well, it is this simple – he has NEVER done a budget before and when pressed to do one within say, 30-45 days of being inaugurated, he won’t be able to do it. Then Pelosi (budget bills start in the House) will be able to “take this burden” off of Obama and guess what that means – Pelosi is actually the running the government!

The power in Washington stems from the budget. Pelosi knows this and she knows that Obama won’t have a clue of how to do one in Jan. 2009 – now, isn’t that convenient…

  • Ferd Berfle

I hadn’t thought of that-very good analysis. This way, Nancy has a yes-man in the WH instead of an adversary in HRC. If this is the case, Pelosi is a scumbag in addition to being incompetent.

  • Tony Rezko

    Q. Why will Jay Leno vote for Barack Obama?

  • Michelle

And look she even said it in the article – the FIRST thing she mentions….

“The future of our planet is at stake: our budget, the constitution, the safety of our troops, everything is at stake in this election.”

  • Michelle

And BTW – notice budget BEFORE Constitution!!!

  • Pollpatrol

    Sounds like puppy love…

“When House Speaker Nancy Pelosi publicly floated the name of Rep. Chet Edwards as a potential Democratic vice presidential nominee, just about everyone was surprised.

But not the 56-year-old central Texas congressman.

“I had a few hints for a week or so,” he said. “She started walking up to members on the floor and saying, ‘You know, you’re talking to my choice for vice president.’ So that was the first inkling.”

The Pelosi-Edwards connection goes back some years to when they had adjoining congressional offices. She reportedly believes that his personal skills, centrist record and work to expand aid for veterans and their families would appeal to swing voters.”

Clinton only won the popular vote if you completely exclude Caucus States (something Penn did and so she should be asking him for a refund for that) and count none of the uncommitted votes for Obama. People turned out to vote uncommitted because they knew she was a two faced liar when she said Michigan would not count so they came out in strength to vote ANYONE BUT HILLARY.

Clinton LOST the campaign, but in the Larry Johnson RNC / CIA book of tricks is continue to stir up antagonism and that is what you are doing right during this election so your good pals get back in.

The RNC PUMA argument does not even stack up. The campaign was to win the most delegates. Obama won a majority of elected delegates. The Super Delegates – who had initially been backing Hillary – then decided to declare so that the party could fight the Republicans.

This is what real Democrats are committed to doing. Taking down the RNC so that the process of repairing America can begin. This has the full support of Hillary and like it or not your dirty tricks are not working. The only “news organization” providing you with the semblance of credibility is Fox. Says something doesn’t it?

  • Danny

That’s awesome! Put a cork and a fork in it indeed!

    Pelosi’s finished.

  • Tyrione

Let’s test that theory and request the Caucus system to be abolished, in favor of One Person, One Vote, Primary structure across all states and territories.

I’d love to see how Obama fares with your theory that Caucus votes were poorly recorded.

Hey, Larry, didn’t you get the memo? Obama’s not inadequate …we’re all closet racists and angry vaginas … well, maybe not an angry vagina on your part but you’re probably what they consider the bitter, gun clinging type.

Pelosi has been nothing but out-of-touch since she put in that position. FIrst she takes Bushco impeachment off the table which alienates all the left-wing activists, then she enables this seriously flawed candidate to become the probable nominee. She only places legislation up for floor votes that she feels will get through. She does NOTHING based on what’s the correct thing to do or what might show some muscle for a progressive agenda. She needs to be replaced, pronto! I’m not sure what she has on who, but I don’t think she got where she is by being effective or smart. She’s been a real disappointment.

Most of the people that post here wouldn’t vote for Obama even if he had Jesus as a running mate. Obama has no skills except reading the teleprompter. um, you mean real Democrats who have been voting downticket Democrat and every Democratic nominee since Kennedy? Who have campaigned for several Democratic candidates, who have given to the DNC annually for decades.

And now we’re voting for McCain because Obama is a terrible choice for the Presidency. Plus, we’re not alone as lifelong Democrats who will not vote for Obama.

She looks all drunbk and raggly in that pic on Huff Po with Hillary..Hillary looks like she saw a ghost..yeah one look at nancy nincompoop and anyone would look like they saw a ghost. She’s now accusing the McCain of everything she is guilty of. Go away Lady Nincompoop.

  • John

Um, why should we count any of the Uncommitted votes for Obama?

We don’t count any of the Edwards or Kucinich votes for Obama either; I suppose that’s unfair, too?

If we count uncommitted votes in Michigan for Obama, I think we should add thousands of votes to Hillary’s totals from the caucus states, representing all the voters who couldn’t leave their JOBS (including active service personnel) to stand around living rooms and HS gymnasiums for hours. I think we should also erase all the votes counted in the Texas caucuses, since after all Hillary WON the PRIMARY, and there are hundreds of eyewitness accounts proving that the Texas caucuses were rigged.

The rest of your post is just warmed-over Obama talking points, give it a fucking rest, please!

Bill did not complain about the caucus system when he used them to get the nomination. As for abolishing them – fine, but in 2012. The Obama campaign did not have the advantage of having a majority on the Committee that wrote the rules, but they certainly did not demand the rules were changed half way through the campaign.

[Not that I want Hillary ANYWHERE NEAR BO.] think she doesn’t want to share the stage with a genuinely MORE powerful woman. I know Hillary Clinton, and you are NO Hillary Clinton!

  • jnm594

I hate to say it but I think it’s over. I don’t think that there will be a roll call vote and HRC who should be called Madame President in January and rightfully be called the ACTUAL Nominee will be shafted again. I cannot begin to explain how much that angers me and how disgusted I am with the dnc, obama, mobama, brazile, dean, kerry, all of them but especially czarina pelosi (no grammar problems I just don’t capitalize cowards). As a lifelong Democrat I feel like I’ve been kicked in the stomach watching this surreal takeover by incompetents and brown shirts. But as a country Democrat not a coastal one (there are differences) I remember what I heard growing up…Don’t get mad right now they will need you sometime and then you just don’t extend your hand and let them fall off the cliff. Well that’s exactly what’s going to happen. First it was “Get over it, we don’t need you” now it’s “Get over it and fall in line”. Well screw you…….. I am still a registered democrat (for the time being) but I’m an American first and foremost and I refuse to entrust my country to this bunch. So ms. peolsi you now need my vote and my money and you will get neither. I originally thought that I would vote against nobama but still vote down ticket but not anymore. If they supported obama then they can go down with his ship and they can do it WITHOUT my vote. I notified several candidates about my decision, some didn’t care, some were shocked and some pulled me to the side and confessed to me that they were strong-armed into supporting nobama. Of course my response was that they needed a backbone before they needed a vote. I am disgusted by this entire sham of a primary. Either the current party can go down with the ship and maybe we can resurrect the real Democratic Party or maybe it’s time for a real third party. Where do I sign up?

    Nobama, not now not ever
    HRC ’08 or ’12
NO HRC IN ’08 NO DEMOCRATIC VOTES

  • John

You mean the “rules” which allowed the DNC to award Obama delegates he didn’t earn in Michigan? Or how about the “rules” about the timing of primaries and caucuses in January, which were enforced only when enforcing them helped Obama and hurt Hillary?

How about the “rules” that allowed those caucuses to be rigged in Texas?

I don’t recall the Obama supporters being so enamored of the “rules” in February, when they were screaming bloody murder through their unpaid surrogate Donna Brazile that the Superdelegates must “not be allowed to overturn the will of the people.” Are you telling us that if the Superdelegates had selected Hillary, you would not be screaming bloody murder right now?

Please, you are boring us. Shut up already, we’ve heard all this shit before. It doesn’t smell better as leftovers.

  • David A. Is that You Trolling?

What evidence do you have that Obama did not have a majority on the Committee. You are very good at making accusations but not backing them up.

    Typical for Obama supporters.

  • NoBigotry

On that basis – no Michigan votes should count. Except the party agreed as a compromise (despite a losing candidate having signed to agree) that they would. Those voters who voted uncommitted voted against Hillary. If they had wanted to abstain they would have stayed home.

As for caucus States – those were the rules. Set largely by her campaign team. Penn underestimated their importance. Obama did not. That meant he won.

Waffles won a plurality of delegates, chump, not a majority. Had he won a majority, Waflles would have been elected rather than selected. Had he won a majority, Waffles would be the nominee, rather than the presumptive nominee. Had he won a majority, Waffles’ poll numbers (and approval ratings)probably wouldn’t be tanking. Had he won a majority, Waffles probably wouldn’t have had to rent a stadium to put a safe distance between himself and real Democrats.

We’re sticklers for details here, troll, and we give chumps like you no quarter.

  • http://Jewel Jewel

    Hi Larry,

In the last line of this article you seem to infer that if Obama tells Pelosi to cool it, that Hillary’s supporters might reconcile to voting for him. It seems to me that with or without Hillary on the ticket, Obama, as president, would create such devastation, that voting for him just can’t be an option. What do you think?

  • Salty

He can’t she put him on that throne and if she was worried about the planet and good governance she shpuld not have fixed the race for Obama, so Speaker reap what you created. Unfortunate, but the Speaker dose not play well with other women.

Caucus results should be thrown OUT.

In WA state anyone could walk in — sign up and “vote”. No proof that the individual lived in the precinct — no proof that the person was a voter. Lots of underage children allowed to vote who claimed they would be 18 in November (but of what YEAR)?

To vote in the WA state primary — one has to register — and vote, declare for a party and sign the envelop. The signature is then checked against the signature on record.

The primary vote would have been a 50/50 split for snObama and Clinton. But the caucus vote was lopsided — proving the the snobama thugs gamed the WA state caucus.

You idiots keep on with the lies — but those of us who witnessed what YOU thugs did in the caucus will NEVER forget and NEVER forgive.

Women for Fair Politics (http://women4fairpolitics.com), which has now morphed into Real Democrats, has posted an interesting article on the “caucus factor” in the election. It also demonstrates, again rather conclusively, that Hillary did indeed win the popular vote, even factoring in the caucus states.

  • Ferd Berfle

Michigan votes should count. The election was legally held according to state law and the votes certified (the same for Florida). That the DNC decided not to allow them has no bearing on the fact that they were legal and should count. This was a decision made, probably at the behest of the Anointed One, which will come back to haunt you duds in November. Come back then and take your lumps.

  • Pollpatrol

Good for him, he abused the system to get a majority of delegates that weren’t a reflection of the popular vote. You know what the problem with that is?

A majority of people wanted the other candidate.

If he’d become the presumptive nominee “fair and square” you wouldn’t be seeing this backlash.

And he still didn’t get the number of delegates required to clinch the nomination so it’s up to the Supers to decide who is more likely to win the general.

That person is Clinton. Obama is polling in the mid 40′s, a virtual tie. That is INEXCUSABLE given the current political climate.

Clinton still beats McCain by 8 points and she’s been suspended for 6 weeks. What does that tell you?

The Supers need to do their job and rectify the situation or the Dems will have thrown another election away.

No doubt the traitor will be dropping by to pick it up sometime during the middle of THIS night, if he hasn’t already.

Pelosi does not want another woman to have more power than she does.
Even worse, Pelosi has a little bit of a totalitarian streak running through her. She wants to have a committee pre-approve any emails that members of Congress send or internet postings they want to make.

  • Pollpatrol

I think the down ticket vote is actually a powerful message. A few weeks ago I would NEVER have thought of not voting Dem down ticket… but i’m at the point I’m willing to go there.

I think a hundred thousand emails reflecting that willingness may jar some supers to reassess their hasty “endorsement”.

  • silver

    Sorry for the double post!!

  • God Damn Michelle Hussein Obama

Nancy just wants her corrupt hands on Obama’s Rezko cash.

  • WiIdChild

There was no memo nor was there any basis in fact for that assertion. Hillary left the faux primary and entered the primary with an average 46 percent support of the democratic electorate. She ended the primary with aprox. 47% support of same.

  • Patti

She reminds me of a woman manager I had to let go because of the queen bee bullshit undermining our teams.

  • John

Ok, fine. If all the people who voted against Hillary were actually voting for Obama, then all the people who who voted for Hillary, Edwards, Kucinich, etc. were voting against Obama.

The DNC awarded delegates to Obama that he didn’t earn. This makes sense only if you are so in the tank for Obama that you have lost all sense of fairness or understanding of Democracy, or simply don’t believe that such archaic ideas should stand in the way of your Annointed One.

So, did you sell your soul outright, or does the devil offer a leasing deal these days?

  • Pollpatrol

Nobigotry, there is no WINNER or LOSER unless a candidate hits the required amount. This is such a boring discussion.

And please put your sorry race card back in the deck.

Oh look who’s here, Joseph Stalin’s little nephew to “explain” how Obama “won” without the popular vote OR pledged delegates since he STOLE MI delegates and Hillary was denied her FULL FL delegates.

    PUMA
    We WILL remember in November!

  • Hope Floats

No. The caucus states never kept a tally, because they figured then they would have to check voter’s registration and party affiliation. That was such a hassle! So, Obama bused his thugs in. He won all the delegates. Now you cheaters want to include them in the popular vote tally… and just guess like your Psychic Friends Network on the RBC who decided to give Obama 59 delegates (four belonging to Clinton) when he took his name off the ballot. You people are freaking priceless.

  • TeakwoodKite

My niehbor seeing I was putting on a new roof, changed the topic and asked me if I was voting for BO. I said No. He said, “You would have to light me on fire before I would vote for Obama.”

For years he to the right…then when we talked we found we had been compressed to the middle and now…to votes that Senator Clinton would have gotten. Not BO.

Pelosi is having somekind of nervous breakdown…I guess Penny P is on the phone with Nancy daily.

  • Hope Floats

Close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades. If Obama can’t reach the required # of pledged delegates w/o SDs whose votes only count at the convention, then the rules demand a floor vote. You know… THE RULES!

Michigan State Primary Law Ruled Unconstitutional

by Todd Beeton, Wed Mar 26, 2008 at 10:37:13 PM EST

Today U.S. District Judge Nancy Edmunds ruled Michigan’s presidential primary law unconstitutional because of a provision that would give the list of voters’ partisan preferences from the Jan. 15th primary election to the Democratic and Republican parties only. The AFL-CIO brought the suit in January on behalf of the Green, Libertarian and Reform parties and the judge agreed with them that it infringed upon their constitutional rights. While the Clinton campaign had hoped the judge would order a re-vote as a remedy, she did not and in fact insisted that her decision had absolutely no bearing on the presidential election at all.

The Hillary campaign effectively decided the rules, her campaign was set to shut after Super Tuesday (hence the funding targets), but she lost that as well.

Hillary would make a likeable enough Assistant to Elizabeth Edwards at health and maybe could answer the phone at 3.00 am to her own health lobbyists.

  • TeakwoodKite

sorry one other thing…When are we going to hear from these igits that “your either fer us or against us.” I see the promo in the cart. I just wonder when Nancy will play it.

ENPR Special: Sources say McCain Veep Pick to Come This Week

Sources close to Sen. John McCain’s presidential campaign are suggesting he will reveal the name of his vice presidential selection this week while Sen. Barack Obama is getting the headlines on his foreign trip. The name of McCain’s running mate has not been disclosed, but Mitt Romney has led the speculation recently.

    Agreed? And? Still Obama won.

  • Katmoon

Nancy better enjoy now, she is done in the party.

Just a quick thank you and no posts of info for once from me. I’m just glad to be able to be at this blog for the past month. It has kept me positive and hopeful, as well as grateful to know there are a lot of people seeing and thinking the same things. I love reading the posts, I have my fav’s. Safe place for dissent, thanks, I need it. This constant media worship and madness has worn me out.

In 2007 Pelosi submitted a bill which raised a potential conflict of interest involving her family stock holdings, corporate sponsors, and former staffers turned lobbyists. The bill called the Early Treatment for HIV Act (ETHA) would allow states to decide whether or not to extend Medicare benefits for HIV treatment to some currently not covered.

The MSM never picked up on it.

  • NoBigotry

As for the four extra delegates – I have no idea why he got them, except maybe the DNC Rules Committee wanted to make sure that a candidate who signs a pledge to honor the DNC timetable does so in the future. If the boot had been on the other foot Hillary supporters would be demanding the expulsion of Obama. She is saved because of the Clinton name. He could give the delegates to Hillary, she still loses and the PUMA mob will still not be happy.

  • PAT

Lets Aks Donna Vrazile when she is leaving the party since she said if her costiguents chose the nominee whe would quit the Democratic party. That was when Hillary was ahead in superdelegats and then they stabbed her in the back and every time she won huge in big swing states the superdelegates rushed to Obama agaisnt the popular vote for that state. They selected did not elect Obama as presumptive I say PRESUMPTIVE NOMINEE.The Fool

  • mahaska

My granddaughter used to win games by throwing a hissy fit and kicking the game board. Sounds like bo.

  • DeaninMI

This law gave list of voter’s party preferences only to the Republican and Democratic parties.

No other parties (political or not)would have been allowed to access those lists. That is why the law was ruled unconstitutional.

Why you even mentioned this article is beyond me.

  • John

Wrong again- but really, what’s the point? You’ve got your zombie training down pretty good. Just keep insisting that the sky is red and brushing aside all evidence to the contrary, and above all DONT STRAY FROM THE TALKING POINTS!

Good boy. Here’s a biscuit. There’s the door.

  • WiIdChild

BOBO got them and he was prepared to take more then four. BOBO got no votes. He earned zero delegates

  • David A. Is that You Trolling?

The selected nominee is Obama. He was selected by the “new” Democratic leadership.

Based on Obama’s associations, history and behavior, there appears to be a foreign influence that is helping him get this far.

  • candymarl

That’s what I don’t get. Instead of stopping FISA and impeaching Bush, doing something about gas prices, or people losing their homes, Speaker Pelosi is more concerned with the Democratic candidate. It’s more than obvious which candidate she wants.

Instead of insulting our intelligence and pretending she’s non-committed she could tell the truth. But she doesn’t seem capable of that.

She’s not helping with her venom and dismissal of Hillary supporters. Apparently the Democratic party leadership is not only inept. It’s downright stupid.

I sincerely believe they had no idea the hornets nest they stirred up when they began to see the explosion of groups like PUMA…no idea. I think they thought after we “got over it” Hillary having the nomination and essentially the Presidency STOLEN from her, that we would support Obama. WRONG, WRONG, WRONG.

“Taking down the RNC so that the process of repairing America can begin. ”

When you say that, what you really mean is replacing the Republican pigs at the trough with democratic pigs.

You aren’t rebuilding America–you’re further dividing it with your empty rhetoric and moronic platitudes about touchy-feely change and other such gobbledygook while rubbing your hands together with glee at the treasury you’re about to rob in the name of the poor for yourselves.

That’s the next thing – when he hits Great Britain he’ll probably convince the people that he is a Bigger and Better Ben and that, too, will have to change.

  • Dee AnotherVoteLost

I watched CNN’s Candy and her coverage of Obama and wow did the kool-aid hit. He looks so presidential, a true negotiator. And why McCain is silenced here in the US, whom should I switch my vote, admitting that Hillary has no chance?

John, I love that you are using Donna Brazille’s
argument against her. She rambled on and on about how she felt the people who did not vote at all in MI & FL were being disenfranchised. Of course she believed they would all have voted for Obama and therefore he deserved 1/2 the delegates in both states.

  • WiIdChild

well, she only suspended her campaign, and she said about a hundred times she wanted all the votes counted…

I understand, by nature wild children have poor reading comprehension. The post above was to show the Michigan election was unconstitutional and AS AGREED BY THE HILIARY CAMPAIGN, originally counted for nothing. She had a majority on the Rules Committee.

  • Patti

    Nobigotry,

Do you remember the woman who demanded to speak and when she did interrupt, she claimed that they were deliberately ignoring her? I think the Boss Lady still tried to cut her off but she said something like, No way!!? California maybe?

I want to put a star next to this woman’s name.

  • Hope Floats

He’s popular in LA, but we know that state will stay red. And he is of Indian descent. He was born here, went to Catholic school, grew up in the South. I’ve seen him on Leno, and he’s very engaging and folksy. Like Huckabee without the lazy eye and craziness. No offense to his supporters, but he weirds me out.

But Jindal has done a great job rebuilding the state, spearheading healthcare and initiating reform. However, at 36, he makes McCain look old and self-conscious of that. He’s only in his first term. I think the Republicans are putting his name out to run him as a star in the future and build up brand name credibility.

  • Ferd Berfle

You are one dense bot. Even if you are correct, which you are not, Michigan and Florida votes will go to McCain because of Oblahblah’s actions. Especially in Florida.

Good for him, he abused the system to get a majority of delegates that weren’t a reflection of the popular vote. You know what the problem with that is?

No he won – because his campaign played by the rules, unlike Penn who thought the early States were winner take all.

    She had rubbish advice.

  • http://www.thecjpoliticalreport.com Halli Casser-Jayne

    AND THEN THERE’S THIS:

    TELEPHONE:

As Barack Obama embarked on what his campaign is billing as Barack Obama’s “listening” overseas tour and I was wondering why if Obama’s world tour was simply to listen he couldn’t have foregone the outrageously expensive trip that he says is not a political tour and telephoned world leaders and American generals (United States Senators have unlimited long distance, no?) my friend Myrtle was more interested in talking with me about another matter.

Myrtle, the only person I know in America who doesn’t have unlimited long distance as a feature of her phone service, signaled me to call her Sunday afternoon  because I do pay for the extremely expensive feature.

She used her personal code: ring two times, hang-up, ring once, hang-up. The not very original Myrtle has to use this code because she has the service of caller id block and can’t ever remember the code that will unblock her code. And since we in this house don’t answer unidentified calls, Myrtle must resort to the code.

Ring…ring…hang-up…ring…hang-up…ring…I answer the phone not to the polite Hello, how are you? bit expected since we haven’t spoken in a while, but instead to an angst-ridden, extremely upset voice bordering the shrill at the other end of the line.

“I am PISSED OFF,” Myrtle screams into my ear. “Seriously, I am furious! This Democratic Party is taxing my patience. Who the hell do these bozo men who are controlling things think they are? And who is this Donnie Fowler, a relation to the Osmonds?” she asks across the wires. “Do you know this guy? Come on, he has got to be kidding! They’ve all got to be kidding. What, do they think the women in the party are all a bunch of f**ing fools?” Blah…blah…blah!

Anyway, Myrtle’s colorful rant continued for a full seven minutes…honest…I timed it. And much of what Myrtle said isn’t repeatable even in the uncensored world of the internet. I’ll tell you, Myrtle is HOT under the good ol’ girl collar. In fact, I haven’t heard Myrtle this angry since her boyfriend of five years left her for a woman half her age and half her brain power. Like I said, Myrtle is furious!

So what’s the source of Myrtle’s incandescent rage?
Myrtle doesn’t like the tone in the missive addressed to “Dear Democratic Friends” that she received, signed by one Donnie Fowler, DNC Member At-Large, South Carolina and Former Chair of the Democratic National Committee.

Before I share with you Myrtle’s problem with the letter, let me give you a bit of background on my friend Myrtle. Myrtle is white, Jewish, unmarried, a New Yorker born and bred, smart, well-read, well-educated, well-traveled, which she can afford to be because she has a great…well…high-powered job that affords her the luxury.

Moving closer to 60 with each passing day, Myrtle is a dyed-in-the-wool progressive Democrat. She is so far to the left in her political persuasion Fidel Castro would love her.

As this election cycle began, Myrtle was oh, so excited. Barack Obama was her candidate. He was the man to take the world into the future with all his progressive ideas. Myrtle was sure the Democrats could take back the White House and right all the wrongs of the past eight years and the Bush Administration.

We would engage in great political discussions in those early days of the campaign, some quite boisterous as I was an early Hillary Clinton supporter when Myrtle was not.

But slowly, ever so slowly, I, with the help of her man, Barack Obama, changed my progressive friend’s point-of-view. And she who had once despised Hillary Clinton came to admire and respect her, and finally to support her candidacy.

It wasn’t only Obama’s lack of political experience which turned Myrtle off to Obama as the Party’s eventual nominee. She will tell you that as the primaries ensued she started to question the sincerity of Obama’s words, and moreover, Obama’s conviction to his progressive ideals.

But with Hillary’s loss and Obama’s coronation because of what Myrtle calls “the machination of the Democratic Party” my friend Myrtlewas left with the choice of who she would vote for come election day.

Having never voted for any but a Democratic candidate, Myrtle is left with the dilemma many Hillary supporters face. Should she vote for the inexperienced, insincere, candidate who is ideals challenged? Should she vote for the Republican John McCain whose ideals she doesn’t always share? Or should she simply sit this one out?

Apparently, Donnie Fowler’s letter helped my friend Myrtle come to her decision.

And here are the two lines that did it: “I must confess a bit of fatigue and irritation with people who continue to carp, complain, and criticize the results of the primary and lay down conditions for their support,” Mr. Fowler wrote. “It is time to act in a mature and resourceful fashion. It’s time to put the primaries behind us. It’s time to support Barack Obama without conditions or demands.” (Emphasis mine)

Here is some more of what the letter said: “It is time for all Democrats, supporters of Senator Clinton and all other contenders for the nomination, to stand with him to secure [Barack Obama’s] election. It’s time to support Barack Obama without conditions or demands.”

“How dare that Fowler guy speak to women with such disdain,” Myrtle bristled across the fiber optic highway. “What if the situation was reversed and it had been Obama who had been forced out of the race? Do you think the Donnie Fowlers of the Democratic Party would be sending out letters using words like ‘carp and complain’ to potential MALE voters? Of course they wouldn’t.”

Myrtle insisted: “It’s how the men who are controlling the Democratic Party, with the help of a few estrogen-challenged female surrogates like Nancy Pelosi, Donna Brazile and Claire McCaskill, that is sticking in my craw.”

“How could you possibly vote Republican?” I asked Myrtle. “You’ve always been a Democrat. You believe in the ideals of the Democratic Party. The Republicans want to overturn Roe Vs Wade. They don’t believe in universal health care, Hillary’s pet project, but you do. There’s Iraq, there’s…”

And then my erudite female friend nearing a milestone birthday said the magic word as we spoke across the telephone lines:
“FISA (Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act),” Myrtle said. “He caved,” she reminded me.

She continued: “At least the Republican’s and John McCain stand for something. I may not always agree with what they stand for, but ya gotta stand for something, even if you sound like you’re ‘carping and complaining and criticizing.’”

And with that feeling better for having made her point Myrtle hung up the telephone that the Feds might be monitoring thanks to the highly resourceful vote of Barack Obama.

So the ugly twich thinks we should not worry who Barky picks for VP? We won’t worry at all,we’ll just vote McCain. We’ll even answer the phone at 3 AM for him…..

    NoBigotry,

Nice attempt to make the PUMA folks face reality, but it won’t work. they believe all the crap Larry writes, i.e. whitey tape, and cannot accept the fact that Hillary lost under the rules she agreed to and never protested until she needed to play the victim. the fact that while campaigning in New Hampshire, the PUMA heroine told a public radio station that she didn’t know why folks in Michigan were voting because it didn’t count does not phase them one bit. these folks are invested in Hillary’s victimization and won’t let that go one bit. Recently, Hillary wrote on HuffPo about the Administrations attempts to weaken a woman’s right to contraceptives. Hillary is spot on in her criticism. These folks here wrote in great support of Hillary on that issue but want everyone to vote for a candidate that will weaken a woman’s right to choose. Unbelievable. If they get their wish what we will wind up with is older women, in fit of rage, assuring that younger women lose the right to choose. It is pretty sad.

As leader of the Democratic Party, I strongly urge you to adhere to the 2008 delegate selection rules. The 2008 Delegate Selection Rules. … The 2008 Delegate Selection Rules adopted by the full DNC at its August 2006 meeting clearly provide that only four states – Iowa, Nevada, New Hampshire,” “South Carolina – may hold their respective contests prior to February 5, ‘08. The Rules and Bylaws Committee’s finding of noncompliance included a 100 percent loss of pledged and unpledged delegates

    Clinton Campaign Statement

The following is a statement by Clinton Campaign Manager Patti Solis Doyle.

“We believe Iowa, New Hampshire, Nevada and South Carolina play a unique and special role in the nominating process.

And we believe the DNC’s rules and its calendar provide the necessary structure to respect and honor that role.

Thus, we will be signing the pledge to adhere to the DNC approved nominating calendar.”

Oooh, the age thing is what got me plus his heritage. I was looking at a balance for John and someone who could show our country and our world that you can actually have a resume as well as accomplish qualiity things having weight even at the age of 36…

A contrast to what is being offered” up for the Presidency…

I am voting for John McCain anyway. I really don’t care who his VP as long as it’s not MO! I was looking for someone our youth could actually look up to. Compare and come out of their stupor.

My problem is that I lack knowledge on his convictions and platform.

    ah yes reading comprehension…

The Hillary campaign effectively decided the rules,

The democratic party, as an independent organization, wasn’t bound by that judges decision. Its scope had nothing to due with the democratic portion of the MI primary. What we did was an internal matter and stayed as such. Our rules call for delegates to be awarded based on votes. BOBO got no votes. I’ll repeat that for you again.. BOBO got no votes. He earned no delegates. Hillary called for a new election which would have given BOBO the opportunity to earn votes. That was really nice of her. She didn’t have to do that but she did because she’s a patriot and an American first. Now if as you say Hillary decided the rules, there would have been a new vote. But she didn’t , and there wasn’t.

    Pollpatrol,

Pelosi said that based on your heroine’s statement on the commander-en-chief test nonsense. All Pelosi did was recognize the consequence of Hill’s statement. Either way it shouldn’t bother you. You don’t want Hill to be the V.P. right?

  • NoBigotry

Give them what Hillary agreed then. As for PUMA / RNC claiming all party now, when have they protested about Florida only getting half delegates at the Rethug convention?

  • slobodaneee

Some would say that definition applies to Hillary. It is amazing how many women here will utterly tear apart other women because they don’t support Hillary. I thought it was terrible when AAs would give Hillary supporters like Shelia Jackson Lee a hard time because they supported Hillary. Likewise, it is terrible to see women tear down other women like Pelosi and my favorite choice Gov. Seblieus just because its not Hillary. Would any other woman satisfy you?

A distinction without a difference. He did not win enough pledged to win. Hopefully the superdelegates will come to their senses and disappoint people like you by voting for HRC. If not, then we’ll see you in November after the McCin victory. You will have to wear the Big “L” as you promised directly on your forehead.

So your issue is not Super Delegates deciding, but the fact they went for the Candidate with the majority of elected delegates and not your supposed candidate?

As for PUMA – where is the donation to Democrats or even Hillary from its founder?

I wish someone ( anyone) would tell the Botox Queen Nancy to put a cork in it! She is pitiful. Like Queen Anne Boelyn before her head was lopped off. Desperate. Grasping at straws, trying to throw her weight around when everyone knows she was a goner. I don’t think Nancy will ever lose her District. I do think she will lose all her authority in the House. She will be just a show piece, with no power, until replaced. Instead of the Tower, it will be the Speakers office, where she has the title and trappings- but no real power. Karma’s a bitch!

If not POTUS Hillary will RULE CONGRESS with 18 million of us behind her!

I have to say, I agree. This is not about this lot though. They simply repeat the most vile of talking points on the web and claim them as fact. It is crucial that these RNC fronts are challenged and their arguments refuted. This lot are the 2008 swiftboaters but they are having no effect. They cannot even bring themselves to clear the debts for Hillary. Despite claiming to.

Now Hillary was a great campaigner and although she took positions that were quite awful during the Primary, I accept that as the dirtiness of Politics here, there is however no way she would associate herself with an ex CIA Republican or a John McCain Supporters front.

    “Break your spirit”

He can’t be talking about the lifelong Democrats who see right through the sleazy BO and his dirty takeover of the party. He should be talking to all those people like Brazille and Dean that “weakened their resolve” and allowed this nightmare named Obama to happen. You still don’t get it. Its not the message, its the messenger. There is nothing about Obama that is redeeming. 146 days in the US Senate and 2 bills, one to preserve democracy in the congo, (it’d be nice to preserve it here first), and to rename a post office. And you seriously think that little bit of experience a US President makes? We don’t. Hillary had a lifetime of working the trenches to make a difference. She is a policy wonk, and she is a brilliant person. Obama just doesn’t cut it compared to her or McCain. There is no record for him to run on. No experience, no nothing. He is a disaster waiting to happen, and we don’t want any part of it. Its safety before idealism. Obama’s people run on dreams and empty promises of change. We run on experience, dedication, intelligence, proven track record, and experience. Did I remember to say experience? Sorry, the DNC is dirty, this election was rigged, and the selected nominee is just unacceptable to us. Calling us a Republican front doesn’t cut it. Denying the reality that over half the party rejects this nomination and do not see it as legitimate isn’t going to solve anything. Denial is going to cost the Dems this election. You can’t fix what you refuse to see as a problem. Hide your head in the sand. We’ll pull you back out in November.

Although, the Europeans want to keep them out of the EU since that’s what they’re after and there are still hard feelings about Cyprus. But Pelosi’s a dishrag, a doormat and a sell-out. Her attacking Hillary had nothing to do with the CIC comments which were spot-on and as good as she’d got from Obama with his “Bush Cheney Lite” and “tea parties” and “socialized medicine.” Not to mention his lies about NAFTA.

  • slobodaneee

I didn’t like it when any democrat was tearing the other apart. I saw no problem with expressing support for your candidate. Some like Byah gave specific articulate reasons for his support. He did not seek to tear down Obama to build up Hillary. Likewise, Macskill did the same for Obama. Now, the general is off the field, but a small band of her army wants to continue the civil war.

  • memyself&i

Obama did not win the nomination. Neither Clinton nor Obama have the necessary pledged delegates to be the nominee. It is up to the super delegates who gets the nomination. As it stands right now, enough super delegates have selected Obama to make him the presumptive nominee. But following the example of Nobama, the super delegates can do a flip flop and give their support to Clinton. Unfortunately, Obama and Dean are blocking a roll call at the convention to make this impossible.

  • slobodaneee

Well … Hill will just have to settle for the Senate, where she will spend the rest of career. You don’t really think that if Obama loses, she’ll ever be president?

  • s. hall

Never has so much been done for someone who was worth so little. Its interesting as we watch the real Democratic Party emerge out from under the Roosevelt legacy. They are petty coniving do nothings, and the people are seeing it for themselves. The most important thing for this country Nancy-is not to support the nominee of your choice –its to vote for the candidate who can fix the mess you and Bush will have left behind. Nancy’s popularity is down at 14% so the most important thing to her should not be Obama it should be giving people a reason to vote Democratic. Why is she stonewalling a bill which would allow drilling and lower the price of gas?

  • slobodaneee

  • Patti

    I SECOND THAT EMOTION.

  • slobodaneee

What was Hillary’s great senate accomplishments? there weren’t any. Obama has more elected experience than Hillary. Yes, I know she has been with Bill, in a supportive role, but not as a candidate. During the campaign Obama hardly pressed her and she struck out wildly as the nomination slipped away. This was over on February 19th because under the DNC, which she supported, she could not win. All she did was rile up anger and blame others for her mismanaged campaign. As I wrote before, you older women will sell younger ones down the river because of your misplaced rage. Hopefully, you will be spared the awful realization of your current hopes. You won’t hear some reporter running down the Supreme Courts steps breathlessly rifling through a decision that overturned Roe v. Wade by a 5-4 decision made possible by a right winger John McCain put on the Court. We real democrats will spare you the agony.

ZB has written books on why the US should seek control of Iran if US wants to maintain its global primacy in Euroasia.

    http://www.cooperativeresearch.org/context.jsp?item=a1097chessboard#a1097chessboard

“Context of ‘October 1997: Brzezinski Highlights Importance of Central Asia to Achieving World Domination” Cooperative Research History Commons

ZB wrote, The Grand Chessboard: American Primacy and Its Geostrategic Imperatives, in which he portrays Eurasian landmass as key to world power, and Central Asia with its vast oil reserves as key to domination of Eurasia. Claims for US to maintain global primacy, it must prevent any possible adversary from controlling that region.

He notes: “The attitude of the American public toward the external projection of American power has been much more ambivalent. The public supported America”s engagement in World War II largely because of the shock effect of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor.”

He predicts that because of popular resistance to US military expansionism, his ambitious Central Asian strategy cant be implemented, “except in the circumstance of a truly massive and widely perceived direct external threat.” [Brzezinski, 1997, pp. 24-25, 210-11]
