There are so many reasons why we need Hillary and the health care issues are of major importance to me.

I’ve read that Obama’s backers, mostly wall street people/corporations, plan on privatizing social security and privatizing many other things that are more republican and neocon plans than democratic.

Obama does not care about his people, let alone those of us who oppose him. Wake up BOTS!

There Hillary goes again. She’s standing up for the American people. Obviously she’s not fit to be POTUS.
She’s fighting for the things so-called liberals and progressives claim they want.

Once again the evil Hillary stands up for all Americans.

But Obama is overseas promising hope and change. Hillary’s here in the US delivering hope and change in the form of promoting and passing or stopping legislation.

Hillary has gone power mad in her quest to help average Americans. Obama helped average Americans by voting for FISA giving telecomms immunity. Now they can spy on anyone and never face a court of law.

I heard some of Obama’s speech in Berlin this morning. When he was mouthing hackneyed platitudes (“I come here not as a Presidential Candidate but as a citizen of the United States and the World….we need to win the War of Ideas against Terrorism…”) he got big applause. When he began to talk about specific issues, the crowd grew very quiet (and, I think bored.) When he went back to platitudes, the audience came back to.

It’s pretty obvious to me that, just like in the US, audiences are enthusiastic about seeing Obama, not about his positions on issues. They want to hear “inspiring” soundbites, not policies.

Meanwhile, Hillary Clinton was criticized in the media throughout the primary season for being “wonkish,” which is media-speak for “focused on the issues.” McCain is snarked at because “no way could HE fill a football stadium with screaming fans.”

This is the way we judge candidates and elect Presidents? God help us.

He resembles a young Tony Blair? The British should remember how that turned out. If they don’t then don’t blame us Americans. Tony showed he could out conservative the conservatives. This resulted in many gains for the Tories. People on both sides of the Atlantic may want to recall that.

My husband watched part of the speech. I can’t stand to look at him. Just like watching G.W. Bush, he sets my nerves on edge. Hubby said the same thing you did, that half the crowd looked bored. It was probably an overindulgence in the free food and beer and impatience to see the rock bands perform.

Also, you would think that the German people would remember that the last time a leader made them feel good and inspired them with his rhetoric we ended up with WWII. We also ended up with the horrors that followed.

I hope when they “privatize” Social Security they stop taking FICA (Federal Insurance CONTRIBUTION Act) tax out of our salaries because after we lose the government Insurance part of the Act it’s just another 401k type plan subject to the whims of the stock market.

The executive branch has been trying to get their hands on the Social Security trust fund since the days of Reagan so they won’t have to pay back what they have borrowed to make up budget shortfalls by trying to convince us “the system” was “broke” and just another entitlement (“Welfare“) program anyhow.

But when you rob Peter to pay Paul out of someone else’s pocket it’s called something else – in this case privatize.

All we need to do to understand why we need this FICA law is look at our last 401k statement and then read the banking industry news and realize that another government guarantee called FDIC is what is protecting us from Depression era bank closures which also came out of the solutions FDR created to keep “little people” like us safe. That’ why, when the S&Ls collapsed (with a little help from the Bush Brothers) taxpayers ended up paying out approximately 153 billion dollars to fix their mess. Who knows how much this new banking crisis is going to cost us. With job security non existent and no company pensions I doubt any of want to see the one secure pension we have left being “privatized” right now.

Don’t count on it, FICA will probably go to the Faith Based Initiatives and The Neighborhood Project, i. e., black churches and neighborhoods will get it.

Actually, Bush put a moratorium on the 10% cut after the Democratic Congress passed it. Hillary must have been one of the few Democrats who stood up for average people. The Democrats in D. C. who are backing Obama are now NeoCons.

Apparently you have been confused by the recent hijinks of Sen. Clinton. I know it appears as if she is attending to her duties and representing her district with dignity and intelligence. Not many of the editorials had much nice to say about this trip at all. It certainly wasn’t a huge success.

And every comment from voters that I saw said what I suggested would happen. The Voters found it very peculiar that he’s campaigning in Europe rather than here, where voters actually live.

That may be why his poll numbers aren’t moving. Fox poll had McCain within 1 point. Rasumussen within 3. And the best was NBC poll at 6.
