It would lend tremendous stability to McCain’s campaign to have Colin Powell, especially because of the terrible treatment he got from Bush/Rumsfield.

I am not affiliated with any party but if I belonged to the Democratic party I would be so ashamed. I have never seen an organization with such poor leadership.

The top Democrats jumping on the Obama bandwagon, beginning with Kennedy, was a disgrace. When the disgusting Wright tapes surfaced and Obama tripped all over himself lying about his knowledge over a 20 year period, the Democratic leadership should have had the intelligence to withdrawn support for him and forced him to drop out. Instead what did they do? They tried to force Hillary out — this is insanity.

I believe this party strong armed the SDs and politicians to side with Obama for two reasons:

1. Protest threats from Sharpton.
2. The advantage of playing the race card with Obama.

First, everyone needs to stand up to Sharpton. The guy is a clown and a race baiter and needs to be called out instead of placated. He tried and failed to pull of the hoax of the century with Brawley.

The race card is so ubiquitous it is being played more than all of the cards in Vegas combined and that is a disgrace. And nine times out of ten the people playing the race card are the racists themselves. How many people supporting Obama are doing so because he is black or they are afraid of being called a racist? Probably all of them. The race card is the major component of Obama’s strategy and the reason for his success.

Unless somebody in the Democratic party steps up and demonstrates leadership responsibility this party will turn into the joker. I am looking for somebody in that party to take the first step and say Obama is not qualified and they will not support him. Then I am looking for others to have the courage to do the same.

This is but one poll but I believe it is a sign of what will be in November.

It is unfortunate that race has become an issue in this election but none other than Obama made it so. People are sick to death of the race card being played, having it shoved in the faces of white people every time we turn around. There will always be injustice in the world. Women deal with it all the time. You don’t see us constantly ranting and raving about it. Demanding things you have not earned does not make equality. It does not “even the score” or make something right that is wrong.

If these Obama supporters on college campus continue their behavior as it has been, it will surely be made more apparent and caught on camera and viewed publicly. After August more and more of these types of things will be shown at least by Fox news. This anger and hate will be another turn off for voters on Obama.

Brazile may think she doesn’t need us but college kids and blacks do not comprise the voting base of Democrats and Republicans. The trolls that show up here are further confirming what type of candidate Obama is.

On that note, I watched a few minutes of Hannity’s America last night. He had a couple experts on there who said Obama’s promise of lower taxes for middle and lower income citizens is basically bullshit. And one said any Economic expert will tell you that you never raise taxes during a bad economy like ours or it will make it spiral downward faster. So they will go after Obama, I just think they will do it very conservatively and politely so the race card can’t be shuffled around.

I do not see Powell on McCain’s ticket for several reasons. Powell is 71 years old and McCain is already getting hammered on his age. I would expect Powell to endorse Obama. And I don’t think Powell wants the position.

As for college campuses, I live around a large number of colleges and universities. I actually live a mile from an historically black university. These students are from backgrounds similar to Obama—elitist and entitled.

I am definitely looking forward to the start of the school year, but I have to wait until after Labor Day. Groan!

I always look forward to the Olympics, but I’m not so sure this time around. College football season begins soon and my family will be overjoyed.

I’m so ready for Obama’s defeat. We cannot stop or relent until this man is absolutely defeated.

I remember McCain telling this story at a Republican convention, it may have been 1984, and it was well received. I read Reagan’s lips saying “that was beautiful” when McCain finished.

I saw a clip of an interview with BO where he said that he didn’t deserve any criticism because he didn’t see where his trip was any different than McCain’s or others. Then he flashed his wide demonic smile and said, “It’s just that we did it very well”. I wanted to reach over and (well I better not say).

He also said that “he felt sorry for John McCain”. Somehow I don’t believe that — such condescension is so offensive that I just can’t bear it.

My response to those who accuse me of racism?
SO WHAT?! These people have made me feel more animosity toward blacks than anyone else at any time, when in reality, it is they who are racist.
Did they not understand that whites now see in the clear light of day what is behind those smiling faces, the polite conversation, the discourse of a normal day. It is that the secret hatred they feel for us is out in the open, thanks to Wright, Michelle and the Obama crew. Ridicule us behind closed doors, wish unimaginable things upon us and this country in the dark, but make no mistake, you win no friends with these attitudes, feelings and actions.
We are not so willing, anymore, to cut blacks so much slack out of ‘white guilt’. That day is over and they’ve only themselves to blame for it. I’m looking out for my own!

My driveway is 150 feet long, so if they make that trek to knock on my door I intend to play dumb and say I haven’t made up my mind yet “can you tell me why I should give him my vote?” I’ll just keep them yakking as long as possible and just waste their time. I live and work in a college town at a major university here in the East. Our state is one that is a key toss-up state and the ONLY reason that Obama has a chance to win its the mindless adherence to his flawed rhetoric that he receives in a college town like ours. I have many friends who are Ozombies and they’ve gotten to the point where they won’t even bring politics up with me anymore because they just…can’t…handle…debate. They hem and haw, the stutter and say ‘hope and change’ and never seem to be able to find their footing on any issue. When faced with the obviously succinct allusion to socialism and marxism, they stutter and say i’m fear-mongering, but when you spell out the tenants of Karl Marx or the main adjunct philosophies of socialism, they stare at you blindly and try to change the subject.

I’ve coined the term ‘lazy’ voter to describe the pseudo-intellectual academic vote that Obama earns. It’s a two-pronged attack on those who either go to or work at colleges and universities: The students are just too damn lazy to actually do some research on the subject of policy. They are more worried about what song is playing at the rallies and if they can ‘pretend’ that this is the 60s again and they are somehow relevant. The professors are so egomaniacal that they assume they are right because, well, they’re so damned smart, right? I mean they have Master’s degrees (as do I) and doctorates and they get paid to mold the minds of our youth so they don’t need to delve deeply into the petty issues of policy, their gut feelings are enough.

I feel sorry in a lot of ways for the youth of our nation. We’ve lost our way somewhere and I think it all began about the time that MTV actually STOPPED playing music and started focusing on absolutely horrendous reality TV shows.

My siblings and I were just telling our parents that a 22-year-old in their day was considered a grownup. But adolescence for a lot of our culture has been extended to 30. My 44-year-old brother and I both agreed we felt a backlash, or correction coming on, and that adolescence was likely to soon be scaled back to the teen years and early twenties would emerge as early adulthood.

The young people like this diarist are the future leaders of this country. Very inner-directed, thinking for themselves. This author gives me hope.

But so many who go straight to college (like I did) are still being supported by their parents until college graduation and even beyond. It is perfectly OK not to vote regularly until you’re in your 30s if you just don’t have a handle on the issues.

What is it now? The third year of the reemergence of the SDSes (beginning with the year Obama became a US Senator?)? The SDSes that gave us the likes of Dorhn and Ayers in the 1960s. The same creeps who always appears after the nation has experienced traumatic crisis like 9/11, GW’s war of choice in Iraq, a floundering economy, etc. The same old SDSes that breed socialism and Marxism/Leninism upheavel that have the Obama/Dean Party leading their movements. PUMA brochures/flyers for college campuses would be excellent. My daughter is heading off to a fairly elite college campus where even the professors are delirious from the “hope-ium.” She is not looking forward to the peer pressure and tactics. She’ll be strong.

An expose about the Big Drug Companies– Apparently the drug companies will “Create a Disease” like over active bladder and then re-package an old generic drug- detrol and make a billion dollars in one year selling it. There are many other New FAKE barely tested drugs with terrible side effects being marketed (as we see everyday on TV commercials). Nexium is just repackaged Prilosec (which is available in generic and over the counter)- I’ve been ripped off big time by that one.

I don’t know if I can call our school system corrupt or just extremely stupid about managing the finances. Last year they tried to saddle homeowners w a $1 billion dollar school project for not just some new roofing but millions in amenities! Not long ago a school got an in ground pool and another got a baseball field. Yet another got new landscaping and parking lots. I ask you, if the roofs are falling in and plumbing needs repaired, what do you think is more important?? The superintendent I believe is incompetent and has no business being in charge of anything. Homeowners got a petition going and soundly defeated it. We offered to go along w something for bare necessities but the schools wouldn’t do it. So you know what they got? NOTHING. With the economy like it is we couldn’t believe they had the nerve to ask us for this. Alot of the shit they wanted they didn’t have to have. Over half the student body gets free lunches now and books. Who foots the bill for that? Yep, homeowners. 50% of my tax bill is for the schools and I don’t even have any kids! ENOUGH.

*Claims to have drawn 200,000 people in Berlin to hear him speak, void of any bands, free beer and Brats to lure the people there

*Claims and signs to campaign on Public Financing, only to reneg on it
*Claims to know terrorists as guys in his neighborhood only, yet worked closely with them for years

And the list goes on. Expect this from an old guy like McCain to make these mis-steps, sure, but since they are from a 46 year old empty suit politician speaks volumes about reality.

Fine line between reality and deception usually, only in the case of Obama it boils down to a fine line between ignorance and pathological lying.

The worst part of this entire process this season is that if you do not fall in line with the candidate who is Black and is a pathological liar, you are deemed a racist by those who believe this Black pathological liar.

There’s huge buzz again in Sen. Barack Obama’s camp that former Secretary of State Colin Powell is readying an endorsement of the Democrat running for president against the retired general’s old pal, Sen. John McCain. It started last week as the first-term senator was preparing for his so-far-successful overseas trip this week. Insiders suggested that Powell would either endorse Obama or appear with him before the trip began, but it didn’t happen, leading some to say that Powell is interested to see how Obama handles himself on the world stage. Allies to McCain, meanwhile, say that Powell isn’t a lost cause. Talk of a post-trip endorsement heated up again today after Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice teased CNN’s Wolf Blitzer on her upcoming endorsement. On Late Edition yesterday, Rice said that she has decided whom to vote for but declined to indicate her choice. Many Republicans took that as suggesting she’s going to back Obama, who has been very critical of the Bush-Rice foreign policy. But some administration officials said that Rice was simply refusing to get involved in the presidential race and will most likely back McCain.

“Did they not understand that whites now see in the clear light of day what is behind those smiling faces, the polite conversation, the discourse of a normal day. It is that the secret hatred they feel for us is out in the open, thanks to Wright, Michelle and the Obama crew.”

Not all blacks feel that way about whites. One of my black friends knows I don’t like Obama and he has no problem with it…he’s no mindless Obamabot…he was the first one to tell me that Obama was imploding his own campaign with the Rev. Wright stuff many many months ago.

This ad was created by a very right-wing organization that has bringing us back to “family values” as one of its missions…it’s sad that I find myself on the side of these people this election. But their ad is damn good.

I think it’s really pathetic that people are “organizing” to change McCain signs to COcain signs…as if that is going to sway any voters to Obama’s side. More likely the reverse!

I must have gotten really lucky. I live about a mile, maybe a mile and a half from a college campus and these young adults aren’t in the tank for the O man. They walk around smoking their Indonesian cigarettes. Wearing camouflage jackets and berets. They wanted Ron Paul (He’s not really a Republican. He’s a Libertarian is what they told me). Now it looks like they’re going for Cynthia McKinney. Democrats and Republicans are soooo yesterday and out of touch with everything. I had a group of them bring me what they thought was an injured crow a couple months ago. They were very disappointed that I had/was supporting Hillary.

I see Elizabeth’s statement as a balancing out of the unfair advantage of the Affirmative Action years. It is as if the blacks have been petulant little children ( of course not ALL blacks play this game) and have wanted to blame, blame, blame.

The white guilt era is indeed over. No more favoritism based on skin color. No more turning a blind eye or being fearful to speak up because of a person’s skin tone.

If blacks want the equality they scream for, then they can no longer hide behind Affirmative Action. They need to step up to the plate and become fully functional citizens of the United States. Hate filled rappers and gang members, criminals, and welfare baby factory mommas need to rapidly become a thing of the past.

Go ahead scream racism, if you must. But it is a problem that needs to be addressed in the US.

Any grown ups who are politically savvy at all will not vote for Obama. they completely see through him and will not vote for a conman for any reason. I personally know so many dems who are either not voting or will vote McCain that I feel like a republican even though I have been a dem and hung out with mostly dems all my 43 years. I haven’t changed friends, we’ve all just gotten fed up with the party’s stupidity. Through Gore, Kerry, we stayed loyal. Now the dem congress with a 9% approval rating? This was/is the last straw. the only way to bring us back is to nominate Hillary Clinton for 2008. I may be gone forever. If there is anything close to a repeat of this BS in 2012, I will drive those folks out of this country on a little raft and hopefully my fellow PUMAs can help. Where should we send them? Beijing?

I have seen it many times on FOX. I wish they’d buy airtime on CNN.

Of course, when Spike’s new film (Miracle at St Anna)opens later this year and bombs, he’ll use racism as the reason. If it should happen to be a huge box-office hit, he’ll attribute the success to the actors’ performances and his own directorial skill and race won’t be a factor.

Pledge Allegiance to the ACLU

The Pledge of Allegiance is doing irreparable harm to the minds and hearts of America’s schoolchildren. So alleges an ACLU lawsuit against the State of Colorado for its new law requiring the daily recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance in public schools.
This time, it isn’t just about “One Nation Under God.” Now, the American Civil Liberties Union wants to get rid of the whole pledge. On August 12, the ACLU filed suit in federal district court on behalf of “students and teachers throughout the state” who seem to be offended by the notion of the republic for which the flag stands, unity, liberty, and justice for all.
Mark Silverstein, Legal Director of the ACLU of Colorado, exclaimed, “Public expressions of belief in the ideals of liberty and justice should be voluntary, not coerced. By forcing individuals to pledge allegiance, the Colorado law violates the fundamental freedoms that the American flag is meant to represent.”
In context of public schools, the ACLU’s “coercion” argument is quite silly. When I took a French class in high school, I had to answer my teacher’s questions in French, not Spanish. When each student had to present a book report in English class, there was no option to sit out of the activity or to deliver a rebellious lecture on the evils of reading books.
Yet no one is coerced into saying the Pledge of Allegiance under the current Colorado law. There isn’t a Colorado State Patrol division stationed in classrooms on the lookout for unpatriotic students who refuse to stand to salute the flag every morning. No one is being held at gunpoint until they recite the Pledge with proper enunciation and oral punctuation. In fact, students can bring in parent notes to excuse them from reciting the pledge. And religious objectors like Jehovah Witnesses are easily allowed to refrain from saying the creed.
But according to Dr. Allen Chen from University of Denver College of Law, the ACLU’s lead attorney in the lawsuit, the plaintiffs are not offended by the Pledge of Allegiance on religious grounds. “Our clients rely on objections of conscience that are separate from religious concerns. By requiring that they recite the pledge despite their objections, the Colorado law violates our clients’ free speech rights.”
In other words, the ACLU and its plaintiffs are just plain anti-American and they want to get rid of the Pledge for the sake of getting rid of the Pledge.
One anti-American plaintiff is Miss Keaty Gross, a senior at George Washington High School in Denver County. Miss Gross claims, “I am a patriotic person, but I believe that part of our freedom in the United States is to express our support of our country in different ways. There should not be only one way to express your patriotism.”
Whatever version of the Pledge of Allegiance Miss Gross is familiar with must state that any other forms of patriotic expression other than the Pledge are strictly prohibited. And in her imaginary world as a victimized slave chained to the flag pole of oppression, Miss Gross would commit civil disobedience against a non-existent clause in the Pledge by sitting and protesting the American flag while her classmates salute it, thereby expressing what she calls “patriotism.”
Or perhaps Miss Gross means that she would prefer to pledge her allegiance to something other than America. Like the United Nations, or a statue of Karl Marx, or Marx’s legacy known as the ACLU.
The Pledge of Allegiance to America is a quick and easy routine at the start of each day that lays in the memory of each student a summary of fundamental American ideals.
Such a simple expression of patriotism is not only harmless, it echoes the historical mission of America’s education system to cultivate good citizenship.
To the drugged up, warped senses of the ACLU, citizenship is a rotting, archaic concept. National unity and patriotism are outmoded values. Duty, honor, and country are the relics of dead generals that have yet to be sued out of school history books in some not-too-distant lawsuit campaign. Liberty is to be replaced with license and justice with favoritism to the devoid of truth.
And then the red, white, and blue will cease to wave because of neglect. It will be the ACLU that presides over the final lowering of shredded Old Glory if ever that day comes.
Thus we ought to preserve the Pledge of Allegiance while we have the chance. We should be working to ensure that every state requires the daily recitation of the Pledge in our schools.
