Obama Gives Himself a B+; U.S. Says C-

As you may know by now, Obama gave himself a B+ as president. If you haven’t read Bronwyn’s Harbor’s piece with the video clip, you might do so before eating. If you choose to watch after, I won’t answer for any sudden illness.
But what does the country think Obama deserves? CNN did a poll. U.S. citizens aren’t in the mood to grade on the curve. The country gives Obama a C-.
Do go to the CNN site. It is very interesting. As you scroll over each state, you see how people there graded Obama (and Democrats, Republicans, Congress). The most interesting thing I found is that the average grade of “C” is mostly an average of all grades received. Not that many people actually answered “C.”
For example, in Illinois, Obama gets:
A+ 16%
A 12%
A- 5%
B+ 6%
B 6%
B- 3%
C+ 2%
C 3%
C- 4%
—————–
D 13%
F 32%
Responders to the poll could choose from among 9 “passing” grades, from A+ to C-. There were only 2 “below average” grades: D and F. Yet, in Illinois, 45% chose some version of fail or near-fail.
The state with the lowest proportion of “failing grade” responses was Maryland, with 25%. Washington, DC is included in the poll and is even kinder at 17% F.
But take a look at those numbers. There are an awful lot of “Fs” in that data. Interesting.
