Sneak Peek: “W.” Trailer

I ripped off the trailer for Oliver Stone’s latest movie from HuffyPooh, where they’re asking progressives to unite behind John Edwards over those scurrilous rumors (“Lee Stranahan Say It Ain’t So, John — Why Progressives Need To Get Out In Front Of The John Edwards Affair Rumors“):

If it’s half as entertaining as “JFK,” I’m going to see it. (You know, for years, I didn’t watch “JFK” because it was so strenuously criticized. However, even if 90% of it is fiction, it is damn good filmmaking.)

  • The Real Hope

ROFLMAO!! That is too funny!! We really do live in Mad magazine!

    • roseeriter

Fox just did a spot about Edwards getting caught. Made me smile cause he’s another phony politician with a big ego.

A pretty face does not ensure that someone is a leader. American Idol thinking is junk TV and Junk thinking and definitely junk politics.

      • MEchelle Hates America!

Maybe Edwards is screwing the hairdresser who charged him $400.00.

That was is LA too wasn’t it?

        • workingclass artist

Maybe that hairdresser is doin the LuvChild’s hair…LOL

    • Dawnelle leóna del puma

      OMGGGGGGGGGG

I’m just sitting here yelling at my TV.

Just that CLIP and I’m dumbfounded. I don’t think I even WANT to see it (W) from the inside. It just makes me SOOOOO mad I want to biotchslap them all!!!

What a stellar cast too! OHhhh man I am gonna be damned if I do and damned if I don’t see it. (thanks ya’ll)

      ;-)

      • workingclass artist

Dawnelle…I reside in W’s wasteland backyard…The Mildly Fascist state of Texas….If Stone had chat with those houndog reporters from Austin who tried to warn the country when W was runnin in 2000…It will be a goood movie….I’m just sayin it could be a suprise antidote….No ?

        • BernieO

How are you liking those soaring electricity rates since Texas deregulated, promising that competition would make them cheaper? The joys of free market fundamentalism….

I find it strange that the Huff Po is worrying about progressives defending Edwards now that he is not even a candidate, when progressives sat by and allowed the Clintons, Gore and Kerry to be slimed. They are too busy being sanctimonious and staying above the fray to fight for what is right.

My inlaws are committed Republicans who voted for Bush both times but now cannot wait for him to be gone. I tried to tell them in 2000 about his background, (I used to live in Texas and it was well covered there) but they tuned me out. Recently I again told them what I knew about Bush’s past and asked if they would have voted for him had they been informed of it by the media. Both of them said there is no way. The bankruptcies and insider trading really disturbed them. Also that he accosted Al Hunt in a DC restaurant while he, his wife (Judy Woodruff) and their kid were eating and reamed him out for writing a negative article about his dad. Reportedly he used the “f” word, among other profanities. Yes, he was drunk, but they believe, as do I, that people’s true natures are revealed when their inhibitions are lowered so they did not think this was an excuse.

  • MaryPat

Saw some video last night of Obama doing the “ain’t I coooool” pose, replete with sunglasses and chewing gum. (Did Lincoln chew gum?) Pan to Barry whipping the sunglasses off his face…chew, chew, chew. He looked like he was auditioning for a remake of Top Gun.

I realize this kind of movie star crap really impresses Barry’s college kids–and Matthews and his tingly leg–but how is it going to play with working-class voters? Party boy GWB looks like a model of humility compared to The One.

    • candymarl

There’s a rumor going around that David Caruso is planning to sue. Mr. Caruso has taken a copyright out on the removal of sunglasses.

All imitators, particularly bad ones, will have their ass*s sued off.

Ever noticed how Cruso manipulates those sun glasses in CSI Miami?

      • workingclass artist

Not a big fan of the show….But when I have tuned in those sun glasses were the only way I could track him cause he is sooo pale…I needed the contrast.
He and Albino Bishop Matthews of the Holy Cult of Obama have got to be the Palest Crackers on TeeVee….At least with JOT you had those great acid trip backgrounds as a contrast….And if anyone remembers JOT they win a free Stuffed Armadillo…..chuckle….I grew up in the buckle O’ the Bible Belt….

*** Hint : Jot was on right after Davey & Goliath ***

  • http://safari AnnieCarmel

The pose that nauseates me is when he de-planes. In the right hand, a briefcase. Left hand in his trouser pocket, sunglasses on. He takes the stairs like he’s a jock (up or down). He looks like he thinks he’s in a GQ ad. It is so studied and false. He’s really not comfortable with himself in public regardless of what his uninitiated drones think.

And the ever present nicotine gum…could he manage to keep him mouth shut when he chews? Gross. Hey BO, go to the patch.

    • PKJayne

I could only get thru less than a minute of the 10 Downing video. THE ONE came out the door swaggering. Then he opened his cocky mouth and I immediately felt my stomache begin to roll.

He acts like the punk that he is.

      PUMA

  • CountryFirst

so, what happened to the video?

  • StrawberrybitesBarky

Kinda’ off topic but I just saw a Moveon ad that is giving away one million Obama ’08 stickers. “No Strings Attached” …WHAT THE HELL DOES THAT MEAN? It’s like one of those late night TV ads that promises a free computer just for calling in the next 30 seconds or a free three day vacation if you show up to some bizaaro seminar. I’m afraid to actually click on the ad after that. Obama and his campaign are just the creepiest bunch of wangdoodles I’ve ever seen.

    • Fenelon spoke

“No strings attached?!!” How ironic since as we know, Obama has huge bundled donations from on behalf of Nuclear Energy, banks responsible for the mortgarage crisis, from fuel oil companies, from the healthcare industry and the list goes on and on. Of course, one could also take it to mean that there are no strings attached to his colossally inflated ego. I wish I could think of a clever retort to out on my car saying something like “No strings attached…Obama’s expanded head may float off into space” but I’m afraid my car wouldbe vandalized by Obama supporting thugs.

    • TeakWoodKite

No strings attached means that he is controlled by a Wii device…
BO and his money behind the curtian have gone 802.11n. I mean the “notion” that is BO :)

      • workingclass artist

LOL….Funny Teak…That explains soooo much about his appeal to the younger generation….I thought it was the free IPhones….But Now I see the Light….

  • Clinton Fan

WOW. That DOES look like a good movie!

The trailer seems to hit close to the fact-based bone, too. If Stone goes a bit far afield, it’s not in that trailer–that stuff’s been vetted from several sources (although the “mano a mano” fight between W and Pops, I heard, happened not in the house, but in the back yard of their Georgetown home, after W had run over the metal trash can of a neighbor–drunk, of course–and dragged the thing sparking down the street. How humilating for Pops!).

  • beebop

If it’s just a “rumor,” then why doesn’t Edwards take a man stand and deny it? Oh, right. That takes character. Sorry. Only one cup of coffee this morning ….

    • workingclass artist

Hmmm….I think Edwards was sprint training for the Olympics…..at 2 am in a Hotel Basement….waiting to be rescued by Hotel staff….Makes sense…LOL

      • TeakWoodKite

        Two america’s ….why not two..ehem, well you know…

I did not have &*^ with Doublemint gum.

        • workingclass artist

          LOL….sharp Teak…Bet that kid has Loverly Hair…..No ?

    • ame

I lost respect for Edwards after the WV primary. Hillary won and Edwards came out in support of Obama the very next day to counter “the people’s voice.” I have no respect for the bias pro-Obama media either. Now they’re trying to shield Edwards too…most likely for Obama’s sake.

      • workingclass artist

        Hmmmm….A Tad Hypocritical…Ya Think ?

*** Edwards lost me when he behaved like a FOOL and went after HRC in the debate….He looked like he was kissin Barry’s ass then….***

        • ame

You want to talk about being hypocritical? Edwards talks about values; he has no values. He’s toast.

      • tish

that case, I think I’ll vote Democrat this year!

I’m voting Democrat because I don’t hate myself enough for being white, male, educated, straight or middle class.

I’m voting Democrat because I believe that the best strategy in war is defeat. It broadens the mind to learn Japanese, German and Arabic. Talk about multiculturalism!

I’m voting Democrat because Al Gore says global warming is hiding under my bed, waiting to get me.

I’m voting Democrat because I want to assume absolutely no personal responsibility for my actions.

I’m voting Democrat because I’m mad that George W. Bush hasn’t caught Bin Laden. That’s because Bin Laden is the only Islamic terrorist in the world.

I’m voting Democrat because I’ve been whining like a ritalin-marinated toddler on a temper tantrum about my candidate having won a Presidential election for the last eight years, and I want to be right for once.

I’m voting Democrat because I believe that if I don’t have enough money, the solution is for the government to take more of my money. Who needs money when gas is $5 per gallon?

I’m voting Democrat because I believe that the ideal family is two homosexual bonobos, a goat and a parrot raising a human baby. Love and compassion is all it takes to make a successful family!

I’m voting Democrat because I’m not an individual. I’m a race, a gender, a religion (or lack thereof), and a sexual orientation.

I’m voting Democrat because I’d rather have gas prices be easily influenced by world markets rather than drill in the Anwar preserve set aside for the purpose of drilling. I think terrorists know how to use our money best.

I’m voting Democrat because it’s my body, and if I want to kill my baby, I’ll do it, even if its head is in the birth canal. If I want to cut out my intestines and feed them to the crocodiles, I’ll do that too.

I’m voting democrat because psychotic dictators like Amadinejad and Jong-Ill will listen to reason if I just talk to them instead of backing up my words with actions. I’ll buy them a beer.

I’m voting Democrat because our enemies on the battlefield deserve comfy hotel rooms, Pay-Per-View, prostitutes and all the benefits of American citizenship.

I’m voting Democrat because we need to make the illegal immigrants feel more at home by learning to speak Spanish. I think we should hand them welcome brochures that detail where to get government services and free Ipods at the border too.

I’m voting Democrat because having a picture of Jesus within 100 miles of me is offensive. Colored lights are offensive. Christmas trees are offensive. Hell, let’s just ban the whole holiday! Let’s put up lots of Ramadan decorations, more footbaths, more mosques and more Islam recruiting posters in our subways instead. Diversity is our strength.

I’m voting Democrat because I like the government making all of my decisions for me. I’m not smart enough to make them myself.

I’m voting Democrat because supporting a work-capable person on welfare for over 50 years is so noble. Anyone who doesn’t take pity on these poor souls don’t have a heart.

I’m voting Democrat because I believe we need other countries’ permission for me to turn down my thermostat.

I’m voting Democrat because I care about the real victims of crime — criminals.

I’m voting Democrat because the real cure for racism includes preferential policies based on race — particularly in presidential voting. If you believe that a black candidate ought to be qualified, as well as black, you’re worse than Bull Conner.

I’m voting Democrat because everyone deserves crappy healthcare. Sure, you’ll have to wait years for that life-saving cancer surgery. But it’s first come, first served at the cemetery!

I’m voting Democrat because I believe in minority rights (except in Muslim countries), free speech (with regard to pornography but not conservative talk radio), environmentalism (unless we’re talking about Al Gore’s house) and diplomacy (but never backed by the threat of military force).

I’m voting Democrat because Socialism needs another chance. Sure it failed eleventy billion times throughout history, but that’s only because we haven’t tried it yet!

I’m voting Democrat because I think the terrorists just need a big hug. I’m sure a little lovin will convince them to take their bombs off.

I’m voting Democrat because I like the words “hope” and “change.” Also “kazoo.” That’s a funny word.

I’m voting Democrat because I believe that America’s founders were rich, white, greedy xenophobes, and that America’s founding principles are hogwash requiring periodic editing from an unelected group of liberal judges.

I’m voting Democrat because I like the ideas they have over in France, but I don’t feel like moving there. I’ll threaten to move, but I really won’t. After all, I have a good job, healthcare, lower taxes, free speech and a social framework that promotes family structure. And all of it is defended by the most effective fighting force on the planet.

I’m voting Democrat because disagreeing with a black man is racism.

I’m voting Democrat because all of the history books were written by fascists with an agenda. America terrorized every country it ever set foot in, and stole candy from little babies.

I’m voting Democrat because I hate Bush. He caused 9-11, Katrina, and the nail I broke this morning.

I’m voting Democrat because successful entrepreneurs either oppressed a minority or were lucky, and don’t deserve their financial success.

I’m voting Democrat because I’m too historically ignorant to realize that we still have a large military presence in Japan and Germany.

I’m voting Democrat because I can’t get the new Iphone 3G yet, my new Hummer needs new tires already, and McDonald’s screwed up my lunch order. The economy is making life in the US a 3rd world country!

I’m voting Democrat because Sharia law sounds just neato.

I’m voting Democrat because I want the world to know that I want a weak America just like Europe does.

I’m voting democrat so I can roll over and die the next time some emo ass-clown with more prescription drugs than teeth in his body shoots up a public place. Because I can’t be trusted to personally own or carry a firearm. And I’m too unsafe to dare shooting back.

I’m voting Democrat because I want to screw one of our biggest allies in the Middle East for the third time in 20 years.

I’m voting Democrat so we can sell out everyone else the way we sold out the South Vietnamese.

If only the institution of far-left values resulted in a great country. Oh, well. That won’t stop me from voting Democrat, though. After all, I’m voting Democrat because thought isn’t one of my strong suits.

  • allie baba wan kenobe

this really screwed the “annointed”one! he had promised edwards the vp slot for his endorsement! edwards’s behavior is sooooo dispicable while his wife stood with him while dying of painful cancer he does this! yeah’right! obambi and pretty boy really respect women!??????! right? not! dean’ pelosi’ brazile foisting these celf centered mysogenist punks on us is the last staw! dunp thes arses and nominate hillary now! if not! mcain ’08

    • Fenelon spoke

No, we don’t know that Obama promised Edwards the VP slot unless you are part of the Obama campaign, we don’t know the rumor is true, and I would hardly regard the National Enquirer as a news source of integrity. That’s apparently where the rumor originally surfaced.

      • alexei

It is not a rumor. A security guard has vouched that Edwards was in the bathroom and that “he went pale and ashen” when the guard answered his question of what the reporters were asking. Edwards is a phony jerk who did this to Elizabeth. The person I feel sorry for is Elizabeth and also the children. It is inconceivable to me that anyone could do this, cover it up (yeah, have your friend say it is his baby) and espouse family and moral values. Like others have said – a false rumor? Nip it in the bud by having a DNA test. You know, like Obama could do by releasing his birth, education and legislative records.

An author of the Patriot Act, big booster of the Iraq War when it was popular and then this transformation into a populist? He is a fraud, just like Obama.

  • workingclass artist

Susan…thanks for the clip. I think Stone might have a ZINGER here. His delivery has been uneven over the past few years. I liked JFK too as a film, thought it was one of Costner’s best performances. I’m glad you swiped it from Huff without any collateral damage….you must be fast…chuckle

  • secularhumanizinevoluter

I pegged Edwards as a sleazy, oily scum bag the first time I saw his “butta wouldn melt in ma mouth” cornpon bullshit routine when he was picked to run with AlBore. It amazes me how accurate first impressions are. First time I saw oBOMBalamadingdong at the 04 convention I thought “who is this conman telegelical?” It is truly, gut renchingly saddening that these two are the BEST this country can come up with as candidates. But then, by the time empires collapse the royalty is usually pretty imbicilic from inbreeding ain’t it?

    • JoseyJ

btw – Edwards ran with Kerry, not Gore.

  • ford

IT’S OFFICIAL OBAMA WANTS TO BE WILL SMITH…

just caught some more of Obarfo doin’ what he does best…entertaining our MSM so they don’t go digging in his backyard…..yawn.

  • wodiej

Fox was pissed last night about the new “W” movie. My mom is a staunch republican and her head is probably spinning around about this. I wasn’t paying real close attention to the clip but if George Bush Jr had led an honorable life with integrity then he and his followers would have nothing to be mad about. See we all have a past except we all aren’t trying to be President of the US. When you hold this office or aspire to you better make sure you have clean closets. Respect for the White House? George Bush Jr. has made a mockery of it so shove it Fox news.

  • Larse12

I like George W. Bush more and more. At least we saw his birth certificate. I would vote for him again before I would ever vote for Obama. He is dangerous for America. Our boy is in Iraq and he says NO OBABA.

    • Paramedic

You can’t be serious. GWB = worst president ever

  • wodiej

If I had to choose between Bush and Obama I wouldn’t vote for either.

    • alexei

      Me either.

  • wodiej

BO is under the false impression that the younger generation is going to deliver the Presidency for him. He sure is being cocky. And acting like that w the sunglasses and all of that is not Presidential. Running for President is not an audition for the White House.

  • Honora

The scary thing is that in 8 years Stone will be releasing the movie ‘Obama’. We will all be laughing and wondering how that guy ever fooled so many people. We do not learn from our mistakes. Of course with Obama as President there is only a 50/50 chance that I (an anti-obama blog commenter) will be around.

    • http://chriss chris

Not, cause OBOOb is not ever getting the Presidency of this great nation.

  • http://www.http://unityindiversity-spiritedpolitics.blogspot.com unityindiversity

Yes, look forward to the Oliver Stone Obama, for sure – after we toss bozo out of US politics for good, of course.

About John Edwards- I’m not into moral judgment about affairs. Have always liked Edwards and trusted his sincerity on his passionate stance on worthwhile issues- and still do.

However I just KNEW when he came out for bozo right after WV- and the viral email fundraiser same day that something was up.

Could tell that obama campaign was BLACKMAILING him – had some dirt on him and were threatening to go public. Even commented to that, back at that time in NQ thread here. So now we KNOW what bozo camp was holding over Edwards head.

This will not play well – especially with his bright, lovely wife being ill- now Edwards is FINISHED. Think it’s pointless and stupid really – but fits the pattern. Note sudden sex scandal exposure of NY Gov – who was a Hillary supporter, now replaced by an AA bum, who – 1st thing- came out and admitted wife swapping etc. MUCH worse than what Spitzer did – but made it OK because he admitted it up front. Hypocrisy, hypocrisy.

Just more examples of bozo’s filthy tactics demonstrated in this Edwards thing- stupid man went along with bozo – out of fear of exposure- and here he is exposed anyway.

For those of us campaigning for Dem party reform – I suppose this racy back life by a party candidate fits right up there with the DNC campaign SEX ads aimed at the younger set. It isn’t the sex that’s disgusting though- it’s the MANIPULATION of the public by the media and the SDs by Axelrod/Hitler.

    • workingclass artist

Well said Unity…..FASCIST IS AS FASCIST DOES….

    • TeakWoodKite

      Obama’s karma is returning soon.

      • workingclass artist

        Yeah, Teak….KARMA DOMINOES….Wriiight Before Our very Eyes….No Shit !

  • Hank

No O-BUM-A…I’ll watch the movie, I never trusted GWB when he was campaigning for POTUS. He said as a young man he used to visit a bakery in EP. I was born there and it was the best. But for him to say that was a flat out lie, it’s location is in a rough part of town. He only said that to get the Hispanic vote, O-BUM-A is also being a typical politician saying anything to get the Hispanic vote.

    NO O-BUM-A!!!

    • workingclass artist

      Ehemmm….Hank, HOWDY! ( fellow Texan ) I cannot wait for the Movie…LOL

      • Hank

        Howdy Pardner!!

  • Hank

    We will stop O-BUM-A

    Yes we will!
    Yes we will!
    Yes we will!

  • Linda

I have to say, on the Edwards scandal, seems to be wearing the fingerprints of Obama and Axelrod. It has all the too familiar exposure and character assination that we’ve been seeing from the Obama Campaigns, particular this Campaign season. And Axelrod LOVES jumping on the “sexual” twists that he has ALWAYS dived in to, including Obama’s Illinois campaigns.

Lets not also forget Axelrod’s connection to Edwards and his campaigns. And considering when the “scandal” first broke the end of last year….It seems all Axelrod.

Then lets look at Edwards unexpected and rushed endorsement, …in Michigan….. Just a day before he was on tv saying he wasn’t endorsing…he wanted to be like an “elder statesman”…”like Al Gore” . What made the sudden switch to endorse after INFATICALLY stating he would not? What did Axelrod have over Edwards?

Now Edwards recently started changing his tune that he WOULD consider accepting a position if asked by Obama, which, reading the tea leaves, if he’s admitting now he will take a position, means he was actively seaking one, now this breaks AGAIN.

This SEX SCANDAL has the “Axe(lrod)” all over it. Just like the many before, including the smear attempt with on Bill Clinton in the final days of the primary.

    • Linda

And I wish I had a RE DO button. I KNOW it’s not INFATICALLY….it’s EMPHATICALLY. I had a brain fart and filled in as typing and didn’t go back to fix. SORRY!
