Major DNC Donor to Party Treasurer: Obama is a Bad Investment

From IOwnMyVote.com newsletter comes a verrrrry interesting letter from a long-time DNC donor who has become dissatisfied with this cycle’s candidate.

The following is a letter sent to Democratic National Committee Treasurer Andy Tobias telling him why, from a rational investor’s point of view, Obama has not earned the author’s vote. The letter was sent by one of the DNC’s biggest donors, a donor who has historically maxed out to the DNC and who was a maxed out donor in both the Kerry and Clinton campaigns, in response to comments by Tobias that she could not see the forest through the trees.

You decide.

andy tobias Andy Tobias

Dear Andy,

So you want to know what is taking me so long to “get on board”? Let me try to answer with some discussion of what my 25 years on Wall Street and the Hedge Fund community have taught me, and what insights I can share in order to explain my stance.

As you know, anyone in our profession meets with countless management teams on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis. The “plots” change from time to time and the cast of characters play musical chairs. After awhile, they become all too familiar. You have seen the movie before. When you spot the corrupt CFO enter the scene, it immediately casts a doubt on the rest of the management team. One or two conclusions can be drawn – either they are inept or they wanted a dishonest player. Neither answer provides any comfort, but always insight. I have been lied to by the best of them over the decades; I am sure you have had similar experiences.

After years of stepping in land mines, I learned to read people and situations. I had no choice – my listening skills were honed, my gut fine-tuned. I picked up on what was and was not said, and I always paid close attention to the cast of characters. The actions of a management team always told me more than anything they ever said. If they were bailing out, so was I. If the head of sales left unexpectedly, alarm bells went of.

In the thirteen years that I have had audited results, I lost money in only one year, and then only in single digits. I am proud that I was able repay my investors’ faith and confidence in me by compounding their funds assets, net of fees, at 18% over those 13 years. I took my responsibilities seriously and when I knew I could not give it 110% of my energies, I turned it over to someone who would. My investors deserved someone who would work tirelessly on their behalf, looking under every rock in support of their interests.

The fact that I became successful is not what made me proud. It was how I did it. My soul is intact. It was the self-imposed rules and standards that I adhered to. I believed in a win, win, and still do. My investors always came first. I never screwed anyone over. I made plenty of mistakes, but I always owned them, never blaming others. I treated everyone fairly and with respect, believing everyone has
something to offer. I always tried to do the right thing.

So what does this have to do with me not falling in line and
supporting Obama? Well everything as you can see.

Andy, if I worked and served the people in the 13th District in Chicago, I would have known all of the players. And to win that district, would I have gamed the system to run unopposed? Tony Rezko would not have had a seat at my table. Either Obama is a fool and is blind to what should have been obvious, or someone like Tony is fine by Obama’s standards. The guy is a dirtball. And a dirtball would not be part of my circle, certainly not my inner circle. I would rather not be elected than associate with someone like Rezko.

I would not choose Rev. Wright, Rev. Meeks, or Father Plager as my spiritual mentors, not for political reasons or any other reason. Again, he is either blind or an opportunist. Would I be hanging out with Mr. Ayers? Would you? Would you refuse to be photographed with Gavin Newsom? There is a pattern with this guy – he manipulates; and for him the ends justify the means. He lacks character.

Getting not one bill passed in the first 6 years of his career in not inspiring. Having Emil Jones hand him the ball 26 times on the one-yard line in order to make Obama a United States Senator does not cut it either. What deals he made, he did to benefit no one but himself. He never worked long enough in either Senate to help the people who elected him. Andy, I could never imagine you taking credit for legislation someone else slaved over. Starting in his community organizing days he claimed sole responsibility for other people’s accomplishments all for the purpose to boosting his career.

In terms of the campaign itself, I had the opportunity to witness his methods up close. During the primaries I was in 6 states, 2 of which had caucuses; it was not clean. El Paso was a joke with the Obama campaign stealing the caucus packets, locking supporters out – Intimidation 101, 102 and 103. Fair elections do not seem to be a priority in my birth state. No other machine exists from the days of Boss Tweed, but Chicago’s. How many elected officials are in jail? They are the joke of the nation. It is called the Chicago machine for good reason.

It was clear that what I saw and experienced was not a fluke or isolated incidents, but coordinated, deliberate and arrogant. I got to see him and his organization for who he is and what it is – not inspiring, to say the least. Not something I would have, in business, endorsed in any way. In fact, I would most likely have reported them to the appropriate regulators.

Andy, I have consistently found you to be a compassionate person, but more importantly you have always put your money where your mouth is. Does it not bother you that a guy like Obama can serve a poor district and give away a paltry $1000 to charity? He only stepped up his giving when he decided to run for President and he knew his charitable giving would be made public. How could anyone see that much misery and not try to personally do something about it?

Please, show me something this guy ever did that was not done in a calculated fashion to create and advance his own personal narrative? Something selfless, perhaps, just because it was the right thing to do.

Every person I have talked to who worked at the Law Review at Harvard with him, or in the latter part of his career, said the same thing: he was arrogant and self-centered. One person laughed, saying Obama wanted to be King of the World, that he was always running for something, never staying in one place long enough to amass accomplishments or be held accountable.

Do you not you find it troublesome that he has hundreds of paid bloggers, posting vicious attacks not only about the Clintons but her supporters as well? The whole purpose was to cast him as the second coming, while trashing her and quashing other points of view.

At first I thought is was just some hyped up kids, and then a pattern emerged. He paid others to do his dirty work. The most egregious sexist cracks were rampant, both on the Internet and the MSM. Yet, what did Howard and Obama say? Nothing. Obama promoted it, paid his bloggers to write it. Never once did he try to stop it. Howard, after the damage was done finally commented on it, but barely. Wink, wink.

Andy, I heard remarks that still make my jaw drop.

You know I consider myself a centrist. The right wing of the Republican Party scares me, but so does the left. Ideologues of either side should not have control simultaneously of the executive, legislative, and judicial arms of the government. Absolute power corrupts, be it on the left or the right. Ha, but you will say…. the courts. If you have the legislative branch, all will be fine. McCain voted Ginsberg in, he is not a stupid man and certainly not an Ideologue, and he took heat in the primaries for refusing to have a litmus test for judges. And need I remind you that Obama thought Roberts was an acceptable appointment until some more experienced hands in the Senate told him that would not do?

Painting him as Bush 3 is a little annoying, and what’s up with the MoveOn Baby Alex commercial? Give credit where credit is due. McCain went against his own party twice on immigration reform, on ethanol subsidies, and campaign finance reform. He started talking about Global warming 8 years ago. I don’t agree with McCain on a number of topics, but I do believe he has principals and a backbone. He is not willing to just say anything to get elected.

I can’t say the same for Obama who is turning out to be more like Bush than McCain; Obama is at least as arrogant as W, just more polished. Are you not ashamed, in these past weeks, of his reckless abandon of any pretense to a moral center on issues such as FISA, separation of church and state, gun control? And what he did to one of my heroes, Wes Clark? Insulting my intelligence and my standards will not win me over.

But, in this conversation, you will say, McCain wants to be in Iraq for 100 years. No, he said that as in Japan, or Korea, we could have a presence. We have been in both of those countries for 60 years and not leaving any time soon, and the world is safer for it.

Next will be, McCain is not knowledgeable about the economy. While with Carly Fiorina, who I remember from her Lucent days, at a town meeting he turned the microphone over to Carly when asked about the mortgage mess, painting her as the expert. Wow – he gave a woman a compliment, praising her knowledge, referring to her as the expert. How often have you praised Charles, or me, and everyone for that matter? Why? Because you are gracious and you know it reflects well on you.

All this might not bother me so much if the stakes where not so high, but they are. I am an issues person, not a cult of personality devotee. Substance matters. Barack is a politician, an inexperienced one at that, pretending he is different. I just see him as arrogant and power hungry. Our country deserves better, someone I would be proud to do business with.

Andy, my country comes first, not the Democrat party. Having said that, I believe that the Democratic Party has just kicked away the best candidate and our best chance to redeem our country, Hillary Clinton, a proven centrist. Given his resume, or should I say the lack of one, he is either ineffective or hiding something, neither answer gives me the warm fuzzies. If she is chosen in Denver, you can count on my full and enthusiastic support. Until then,

I own my vote.

Exactly how I feel. I am a democrat but my patriotism is to my country not party.

See What Professor Obama Was Teaching

In the course of reporting an article on the 12 years that Barack Obama spent teaching law at the University of Chicago, we unearthed some of Mr. Obama’s old class materials: the syllabus and assignments for his “Racism and the Law” seminar, as well as a set of his constitutional law exams and a partial set of memos he wrote about the answers.

  • stodghie

thanks for the letter. i am so glad to know that there are still people with principles and the will to act on them.

  • workingclass artist

That is BRUTAL….What a Letter. Thanks for the Post. Well Done

  • Jake

    Wow. Great letter.

  • Matthew Weaver

Fantastic. More people need to come forward with similar blunt honesty.

BTW, I’d like to know more about these paid bloggers–I am sure I’ve encountered a few on TPM. Paid propagandists spewing derogatory and racist trash on behalf of their candidate. It’d be great to identify them and tie them directly to Obama. Will he try to throw them under the bus, too?

  • workingclass artist

Wow…How on earth did they dig this stuff up ? Barry has been soooo careful in erasing his paper trail…..Hmmmm…..Juicy…

  • wry

WOW! I wish every rational, working voter in America could read this and sleep on it before they enter the voting booth.
We gotta be like Martin Luther and nail it to the door of a few churches.

  • JKFriz

Andy, if I worked and served the people in the 13th District in Chicago, I would have known all of the players. And to win that district, would I have gamed the system to run unopposed? This presumes that the Clintons should have “known” about Norman Hsu and Marc Rich prior to their association with them. Now, I supported Bill and supported Hillary in their respective races; the fact is, sometimes major political donors are not nice people. If this is really your standard of purity, you’ve presumably been voting for Nader every election.

I don’t dispute that Obama has to earn his votes. But this double standard doesn’t make a lot of sense to me.

  • cc

one of the best letters I’ve read. this person nails obama on every deficiency, every inadequacy.

  • Marian

It will be a shame if she is not elected in Denver, but if they are out to teach us a lesson on how to fall in line, SURPRISE! many of us agree with the above statement.
Change it will be after over 50 years supporting Democrats I will accept the fact that I need to support the country and vote the opposite of BO

  • http://www.oohnuance.blogspot.com madamab

    NancyA,

Thank you for posting this remarkable letter. The fact that it comes from the perspective of a businessperson is even more striking.

I am in awe at the clarity and moral simplicity of the writer’s expression.

There is absolutely no refutation of those arguments.

I suppose the writer will now be called a racist, but I doubt it will trouble her sleep.

She has a clear conscience, unlike Barack Obama and his enablers. Their hands are dirty, and I don’t know if they’ll ever be clean.

  • fif

I received this in an email last week, and I loved it. It is so articulate, honest and forceful. Exactly how I feel. The irony is: the supposed Dem “leaders” are really dense, and they are trying to pull stunts and gimmicks (Michelle Obama appealing to Clinton women supporters?! Lanny Davis on PUMA radio, the Unity theater in NH etc.) to “bring us on board,” and it is so pathetically transparent. We are more astute than the whole obtuse lot of them.

  • Sam

Does anyone know who the author of this letter is? It’s a great letter and touches on all of my problems, but without knowing the author, it is hard to know if it is authentic and if it was really sent to Tobias…

  • DoroB

Bravo! Well said from a business point of view. And why not? The future of our country is at stake.

  • Catherine

Enjoyed both radio shows on No quarter this evening and plan to listen regularly. The commentary on the bias in the media was right on. This letter attached to this thread should somehow get to mainstream news outlets. It is so true and insightful and so telling of the rational thinkers of our country who deal with hard problems everyday and see Obama for what he is.I pray everynight we can get more of this information out to the public before it is too late. As one caller said this evening on the radio, most people are not getting their info about Obama from the internet articles we read but the MSM who has lost their purpose and function as honest nonbiased conveyers of the news.

  • candymarl

Great letter from someone who did their homework.

People that knew Obama well said the same things we’re saying about him. His arrogance, unwillingness to take responsibility, and his habit of moving on without accomplishment apparently are his character traits. Also, his willingness to take credit for the work of others.

I agree that he’s another Bush. The packaging is just more attractive.

  • Phishmelt

what a masterpiece of a letter. I hope every SD gives it a read

  • sowsear

It’s still hard for me to believe that no one seems willing to step up and say that BO is a fraud. He never should have gotten to the Senate, much less here at this juncture.

  • fif

Do you read anything? According to many reports, EVERYBODY IN CHICAGO knew that Rezko was being investigated and was dirty, and BO STILL struck deals with him, including the purchase of his home. Does that confirm his supposedly “superior” judgment (which is supposed to compensate for his profound lack of experience)? Why do Obots continually make arguments without doing any research?

  • MEchelle Hates America!

Wow! Great job Nancy. I didn’t write it, but I wish that I had.

This line about 4 more years of Bush is such bullshit.

Does any sane person believe that McCain can stand Bush?

McCain ran against Bush even before Bush’s trumped up love child crap.

Would you just get over it?

Like Oblowme’s BLT and his New World Order is so great.

The DNC turned to shit when they screwed women and the rest of the country over for Oblowme.

  • DoroB

Norman Hsu also donated to Obama.
Also, did Hsu give the Clintons a tour of their prospective mansion? Did Hillary use Senate letterhead to ask for state money for Hsu’s slum project? Sorry, big difference there.

  • http://www.oohnuance.blogspot.com madamab

There is no double standard. Hillary would never be involved with the Chicago machine like Obama. This false equivalency game people play is so tired and pathetic.

If you don’t understand that letter, I feel sorry for you. It could not have been more clear.

  • christine moore

Wow. Amazing. Who wrote this letter? This is EXACTLY how I feel.

  • trist

    Woah! POWERFUL e-mail!

Look, the DNC can try and dismiss all us little nobodies, but when the big movers ans shakers start speaking out, with their words and the zipping up of their wallets, that stinkin’ party has GOT to come out of their kool-aid induced coma at SOME point.

Like now BEFORE the convention would be good!

  • sowsear

I cannot say that BO is more attractive than Bush. Neither has any characteristics that I find appealing. Both were/are dangerous to the public welfare.

  • Paul3triple

JKfriz, Obama knew Rezko for over 2 decades and had him as a real estate fairy AND he helped corrupt a hospital board for him. Oh, and Obama got money from Hsu as well and Marc Rich was reccomended for Pardon by Eric holder.
Who does Eric work for now??? Oh, that is right he is on Obama’s vetting team and one of his bazillion advisors.

There is no double standard. You only see what you like. AYERS!!! WRIGHT!!!
Now you can tell me bill and hill’s equivalant for them.
If McCain was a member of the KKK for 20 years i am sure you would rip him apart.
Obama is a disgusting disgrace to the party i used to claim.
If you can not see that there is evil afoot then you my friend are just blind or walking through this election with your eyes closed.

  • candymarl

No one is asking for purity. Just drop the ‘holier than thou I’m not like those other people, stuff’.

Obama lived in the same neighborhood and city as Rezko. He was plugged into all the major power brokers there. Yet he had no idea what was going on.

Obama’s association was not prior, it was during the investigation. The things Rezko did were in Obama’s home district yet he claims he didn’t know.

  • Gayle in Oregon

Bravo, exactly how I feel. I own my vote, too. But, I am writing to delegates and I am surprised how many of them really feel the same way, but sort of stuck with Obama as they are ‘party people’. I hope for a role call vote at the convention and if she does not win at least she gets a lot of votes and puts the stupid party leaders on notice that we feel shafted by dirty insider politics and it wont get him elected. Our country needs Hillary 2012 if not 2008!

  • Scully

Wow. Impressive. That is a very well thought out and informative letter. Good for him for sticking up for what he believes!

  • beverly leslie

Great letter and the complete truth about barky. He is a joke. No substantial accomplishments and he wants to be President of this great country. Anyone who supports him or gives him money, the joke is on you!

Voting for Obambi is voting for the destruction of our country.

  • Peggy Sue

That says it all. Whoever this donor is, he/she has just nailed all the major objections that I have to a Obama candidacy. It’s clear and direct and gives “no quarter” to the excuses, demands and angry name-calling that HRC supporters have met week after week, month after month.

I wish other donors, delegates and SD’s would have the same guts.

Regardless of how this goes, I own my vote, too! And the DNC/Obama Party. They can stick it.

    Excellent letter! Country over Party–always!

Obama has tried to paint Clinton, then McCain as GWB III, but this rationale only works on the Ozombies. And the reason this broad-stroke rationale is failing with regard to McCain–and why McCain is generally running even with BO in the polls–is that Bo has flip flopped on so many of his original positions that he has revealed himself to be closer to the GOP (and to the right of Sen Clinton!) on many issues.

Moreover, since BO’s campaign is no longer able to use a misogynistic and sexist strategy against his opponent–a male opponent–his campaign is floundering. In fact, since HRC dropped out of the race the Obama campaign seems to have lost it’s identity–that is, it’s ground of misogyny, it’s raison- d’etre. Without this misogyny, the Obama campaign seems to be at a loss at how to go about fomenting hatred against McCain. The media aren’t buying it either since they generally like JM, although it appears that the media have decided to just ignore McCain instead.

It seems that all Obama has left in his arsenal for the GE is the Race Card–and that will become old and tiresome–and ultimately very divisive for this country.

  • Liberty Belle_never4Obama

Great letter – whoever wrote it, she’s an inspiration. When will the DNC, Super Delegates get it? I pray it’s before the convention.

Now I better understand the phrase when she closed with “I own my vote”.

Especially interested in the comments she gathered from others on the Harvard Law Review with Barry, i.e., they described him as wanting to be King of the World, not staying long enough to get any experience or accomplishments, etc.

If it’s all about the money he brings, the party has sold out to a fraud, poseur, and a bad investment. Something has got to break soon! I don’t see Barry able to win us back ever – don’t care how many nice things Michelle says about Hillary – he’s the problem, he’s the one running.

  • hank48188

Obama first met Rezko when he was a student at Harvard Law, they have a 17 year relationship. Rezko was Obama biggest fundraiser over the years in State politics, over $250,000. In 2005 Obama wanted to buy a House but he couldn’t afford it, The owner wanted $2.2 million. Obama and Rezko came up with a plan to split the parcel that the house sat on for 80 years. with the help of Michelle Obama, who was on the Chicago Landmarks Commission, they made a fast split. Obama could buy the house for $1.65 million and Rezko’s wife bought the vacant lot for $625,000, both sales closed on the same day. Seven months later the vacant lot was split again, with Obama getting a 10 ft wide strip of the lot. Obama did all this after reading about 100 articles about the F.B.I. investigation of Rezko for political corruption, not very bright.

  • candymarl

Another thing. It shows the mentality of Obama supporters and the DNC. This is a major donor. A real power broker. Someone the DNC needs.

In stead of asking the person to reconsider they are insulted.

This seems to be the mindset that has taken over the Democratic Party leadership:
    Don’t ask, insult.

    Don’t ask, demand.
    Don’t reason, belittle.

Then they wonder why people won’t donate or refuse to support Obama. How stupid do you have to be?

  • workingclass artist

Hmmmm…Obama seems to spend like there’s no tomorrow….Otherwise why send out those Meeeechelle e-mails….DNC is practially broke and it looks like the convention might be a 1/2 ass tailgater in the parking lot…LOL

  • Annie Oakley

When you spot the corrupt CFO enter the scene, it immediately casts a doubt on the rest of the management team. One or two conclusions can be drawn – either they are inept or they wanted a dishonest player.

That’s the take I had when looking at Obama’s choices for his campaign finance directors. At least one year in the past it was Rezko. Bad choice, but is the current one any better? Penny Pritzker’s Superior Bank suprime predatory lending resulted in needing a bailout by taxpayers. That doesn’t bode well for Obama cleaning up Bush’s drunken bankers. Do you realize that the Pritzkers got a deal from the FDIC which might end in them ultimately making money off the deal? And, it wasn’t the first bank they owned the fed took over. There was the River Bank America which was closed in 1991. So the Pritzker family isn’t unfamiliar with this game. The only question is why Obama would make such a choice for handling his campaign’s finances. Is he inept or just attracted to those who enjoy ripping off people who work for a living?

  • Gail in SC

No Democrat ever refers to our party as anything other than the Democratic Party. Try again. Also anonymity is not required if someone is firm in their beliefs. This is a hit job on Obama using the Republican talking points . Try again.

  • Isolde

There is a large difference from knowing everything going on in a whole state or country, versus knowing what was going down in a small area of one city that you profess to know very well. It is also hard to miss it if it is in the press about your own district and you are schmoozing with the culprit.

This letter brilliantly states the case against Obama. I like how he unapologetically presents his career credentials – as the foundation for his judgment. He really establishes his own credibility – and then he very specifically tells Andy why – against the backdrop of how he leads his life and succeeds in business – Obama does not meet the litmus test.
We are all applying our own litmus tests – we’ve been around the block – we know a poseur when we see one regardless of what we do for a living.
He doesn’t pass the smell test, the gut check.
    He’s Just Not Good Enough.
The DNC has made a colossal error by installing him as our nominee.
    WHEN WILL THEY WAKE UP???

  • Northwest rain

    Great letter —

If Obama was an investment — I would not put any money into this stock. Not one penny.

And I certainly won’t invest my vote in Obama’s stock.

  • voterinexile

obviously the ‘donor’ wishes to remain anonymous.
it is written with total veracity; very hard to make that stuff up without it sounding stilted.
there wasn’t one sour note in the whole thing!

  • BJ

Let me just add that there is no one here or anywhere that is or has been a bigger supporter to Hillary Clinton than myself, during this campaign season and for the last 15 yrs or so, but I have to balance common sense on some of the posts added to this site. The letter sounds unprofessional and the author’s name is not listed, therefore for me the letter carries no weight. It would carry a lot of weight to much of the DNC if the name was used.

Aside from that I’m still waiting for my $12 T-Shirt that I paid the Clinton campaign $50 for, and I got an email today from that BITCH Michelle Obama which means Clinton’s campaign gave out my email address.

I’m not a blind faithful to anyone- not like the pathetic obamabots and not like some diehard anything goes to Hillary Clinton. I want promises kept and my privacy respected- along with my damn t-shirt I’m still waiting for!

Look posting letters like this only feeds the Hill fans which is fine, but it just doesn’t carry any weight without the author’s ok to publically endorse it. Sorry but themz the facts!

  • JKFriz

Can you find that source? I’m only seeing Clinton donations ($4,400 to the presidential campaign and $5,000 to HillPac) here:

  • JKFriz

No one is asking for purity. Just drop the ‘holier than thou I’m not like those other people, stuff’.

    This was precisely my point.

    Denise B,

I have letters from some and just sent some more so I will see how many actaully write. But, go to Clintondems.com and see if you can get the list of uncommitted delegates or other delegates from areas that Hillary won. There are lots of them I am writing to ask them to demand the role call vote and vote for Hillary.

It feels good to write to someone who actually can do something concrete.

  • Jane Doe

Great letter. It speaks for many of us.

    I just want to declare:

I own my vote. I will give it to whomever I choose. I will no longer give it to the Democratic party “just because” I have in the past. They will have to earn it, and they are doing a crappy job of it.

I love this country, and my first priority is to America not the democratic party. If Hillary is not on the top of the ticket I will vote for John McCain. I do this because I own my vote, and so far Sen. McCain seems more interested in earning my support than Obama.

By the way, I grew up as the daughter of blue-collar workers. I am the first in my family to get a college degree. I have seen both sides, and believe me, Obama has no chance of ever earning the respect, much less the votes, of my parents. We are those “bitter people who cling to guns and religion.”

    Thanks for letting me vent.

“Also anonymity is not required if someone is firm in their beliefs.” Not even if the person who is being reported negaively on has a reputation for death threats from his followers against anyone opposing him? Also, since when is the truth a “hit job”?
The quality of the Obama-trolls sure has dropped lately.

Clinton ended her campaign deep, deep in debt and Obama is the bad investment?!
I own my vote, and it goes to Obama.

“I like how he unapologetically presents his career credentials – as the foundation for his judgment”

I realize I’m busy and doing 3 things at once but no where in that anonymous letter did it clarify to me it was written by a man. Where do you get this assumption? Just curious as it sounds totally womanish and die-hard Clinton fan who wrote it.

I’ll state this again. I am fully behind Clinton and I fucking hate Obama and his pulpit- that said, I don’t like to be taken for a fool.

I need the author’s name and the credentials that prove they are a major donor for it to carry any weight for me.

  • voterinexile

    BJ-
I agree with your point about the signature – Of course, after reading a letter with this kind of power, readers want to know who wrote it. It IS a missing piece – but in this context I think, it’s an acceptable use.
For one thing – PUMAs are being targeted for retaliation, for another if this letter writer is a successful pro on Wall Street, it would be a risky career move to come forward like this. (Politics is verboten in any office I’ve ever been in.) And, lastly – nearly everyone in the blogosphere is anonymous. We’re all using handles here, no?
For this use, I think it’s acceptable. It’s not being used as a legal document.
The written word is like music. An author’s ‘voice’ comes through – A fake is easy to spot.

  • workingclass artist

Maybe the name was used when sent to the DNC….but not for the e-mail post

  • AF catfish

He is inept, too susceptible to flattery. He runs a good campaign, but if he were smarter he would have known Wright would be a problem, and Obama would have handled it.

    Love the letter.

I continue to get letters and emails from the DNP and Barry and Michelle Obama requesting donations and support, although they have been repeatedly told in writing I will not support the DNP with Obama as the nominee and will not support the Obama campaign based on how they treated Hillary and her supporters and due to Obama’s lack of qualifications.

There is no doubt they are not reading the messages because the donation requests continue to come.

  • DoroB

I tried posting links 3 times already. You can find it on your own. Just google “norman hsu obama”

  • imustprotest

BJ you lost me when you complained about a t-shirt and when you used the “B” word when talking about Michelle Obama. Although I don’t really care for her treatment of Hillary, I would never have used that word. As far as the shirt, I don’t believe any true supporter of Hillary for 15 years or so would be so concerned about a tshirt. The point of the donation is to help and support Hillary. As far as the letter, you have a right to question it’s validity. As for me, I don’t care if it was written by Bugs Bunny, it rings true for me. Themz the facts, just trying to offer some common sence and balance to your comment.

Quote from BJ: “Aside from that I’m still waiting for my $12 T-Shirt that I paid the Clinton campaign $50 for, and I got an email today from that BITCH Michelle Obama which means Clinton’s campaign gave out my email address.”

Are you sure the Clinton campaign gave out your address? I purchased merchandise from hillaryclinton.com’s store, and I donated like six different times, and I haven’t been bothered one iota by the Obama campaign. Not one single e-mail.

You know, there are a lot of petitions out there we Hillary supporters have signed, a lot of sites we’ve commented on, a lot of sites we’ve joined. It could be that your e-mail address went to the Obama campaign from someplace other that the Clinton campaign.

Trolls are not allowed to do research. If they started to read and research, they would run away.

Obama asked God to give him the people of the USA who will follow him, and that they would be smart, decent people.

God told him that he is asking for too much, considering his personal virtues. But – since he is in a good mood today – Obama can have followers. But the followers will have only one of the virtues.

For that reason, if someone is Obama’s follower, is either smart or decent.

Smart AND decent people don’t follow him.

  • sam

I cant believe any supporter of Clinton would talk about anyone being corrupt. Barack Obama and the entire Republican party put together isn’t as corrupt as the Clintons. This letter is talking about Rezko, when McCain abandoned his crippled wife for a beauty queen. McCain has flip flopped on every principled stance he had during his “maverick” days. And Bush? Rove? Lies about WMD to invade a third World country? And this fool has the nerve to talk about Chicago machine, Rezko and Wright. Obama is running for president of the United States…that’s great that he’s arrogrant, confident…which person who runs for president of the free world doesn’t think that about themselves.

What this person is bitter about is that they were tricked at their own game. For any supporter of the CLINTONS to call someone corrupt, you must be crazy. This is exactly what Republicans meant by hypocritical liberals. Hillary Clinton is the most corrupt politician in this country, and no Republican will allow her or her husband to be elected to public office.

  • Mandelay

Not anything near a double standard. Tony Rezko is the financial hub of a bi-partisan “pay to play” network in Chicago. Obama’s “evolving explanatons” of his real relationship with Rezko, the amount of money he actually received from Rezko, and his (Obama’s) own role in “making things happen” for Rezko and Rezko’s associates are in another league. Do read the several years’ worth of articles published in the Chicago Tribune and Chicago Sun Times. Also, take a look at the true nature of the relationship with the Ayers family — father and son — and how Obama came to be owned by these people.

  • voterinexile

    Mita-
Hillary ended the primaries with 18 million voters in the bank…she has enriched us to no end because of her boundless energy and drive and her endless capacity for understanding her fellow citizens.
I’d rather have Hillary’s debt any day, than the moral bankruptcy of the Obama campaign and the DNC.
    Besides Hillary WON!
If that isn’t money in the bank, I don’t know what is!
    Obama: Selected, not elected.

  • Pink Panthers

You can read my post above. I have been trying to get the DNP and Obama to stop sending their campaign literature and donation letters AND emails by telling them in writing why I will not vote for Obama.

The letters and email continue to arrive.

Let me know if you have any luck in stopping the junk mail and spam.

  • jimbo

Hogwash. What the writer talks about has been obvious for a long time. You’ve just had your head up your ass (drinking the koolaid) so you didn’t want to look. obama is a fraud, for all the reasons outlined, and many more.

    Unprofessional?

Honey, do you have any experience in Corporate America?

Most of the e-mails I have/do receive from executives are poorly written. This is one of the better ones I’ve read.

If you were expecting soaring prose, you must have confused the letter writer with The One. She is not a professional writer but a hedge fund manager. I suspect that most of her e-mails are short and to the point.

If you’d like glossy similes and flowery metaphors, may I suggest you pick up a MSM newspaper and read about The One’s premature victory lap in Europe.

Oh, and, when you go public with your real name (which I doubt carries as much weight on Wall Street), you can ask her to.

This is a really interesting thread.

I like to read about I bankers being purists.

It is a nice fairy tale.

I could have worked at a major investment banking house in the 70s, had I chosen to do so.

I am not much impressed about any of the crap on this thread.

Obama and his Chicago group might be 10 cent whores in this equation. Hope the I banker whores got at least 20.

I think you got the info wrong. It was Obama whom got the house for 625,000 and rezko paid the 1.65 million for the land. The land is actually two lots. In addition Rezko borrowed the money from that Auchi guy who was an advisor to Saddam because he was broke. The saddam issue was brought up in the trial in chicago. Thats why the media didn’t pay ANY attention to it.

  • jimbo

Look up the work “character” in the dictionary. If you can understand what it says, you may change your mind.

  • Racist_Dave_Not_For_Obambi

    Andy Tobias,

A standing ovation for your sir!!

You hit at the very core of the flake Obambi, mainly his Rezko/Chicago corrupt roots and his conscious decision to use the corrupt route, not once but many times, to further HIS OWN lust for FAME.

Anybody involved or financially supporting Obambi should well be ashamed of themselves, for they truly DO NOT care about their country first.

Obambi played on the hopes of Americans, he played them well, he took advantage of the mess Bush made, alas Obambi is nothing but smoke and mirrors, a well orchestrated play, courtesy of Axelrod and blind followers taking up the rear guard.

The whole Obambi sham though is unraveling, one day at a time, reality and common sense will once more bubble to the surface. Many will wake from the haze and kick themselves for being duped in and taken advantage of by the Obambi/Axelrod fiasco.

Obambi himself should be ashamed, I doubt very much he even has that in his character though, it’s all about him. He didn’t care about the poor in Chicago anymore than he cared about the promises he made and broke to the poor school kids in Kenya, the guy has no moral fiber!!

  • Samantha Brown

You guys live in dream world if you think Hillary Clinton is Ms. Holier than thou. Which politician isn’t corrupt? This is such a stupid letter. Ok, so Barry has bad associates like Rezko and Rev. Wright. Bill Clinton has bad associates like evil dictators in Columbia and in the Middle East. Bush has associates who plan an illegal war on third world countries. Is the comparison really fair. Wright compared to evil dictators in third world countries.

Sorry but Hillary Clinton has no real experience. She ran on her husband’s coat tail. What bill has she passed? What’s her foreign policy experience, other than “Bosnia Sniper lies”. Do you nuts really think the Republicans would’ve actually allowed Hillary Clinton to win. Are you serious. She has more negatives than Bush. Imagine a new president entering office with the same amount of negatives as the preceding president.

You guys are a bunch of racist hacks trying to find a reason not to vote for Obama. Atleast Republicans are upfront but you liberal Judas always have some reason for your racism. EVERY DAMN POLITICIAN IS ARROGANT, OPPORTUNIST WHO WANTS TO RULE THE WORLD. However some are better at the game than others. Sorry that Obama was better.

Nice try sweetie. Read what the words say, then tell us where they are wrong. Doesn’t make any difference who says it, the truth is the truth. The truth about obama has been out there for a long time, and many of us have been aware of it for a long time.

  • Darryl

pour chicken blood over it and burn it as a symbol of Obama’s fading glory.

  • lilmiss

This seems to be the mindset that has taken over the Democratic Party leadership:

    Don’t ask, insult.
    Don’t ask, demand.
    Don’t reason, belittle.

Seems to be a lot of that going on here. But then, that’s ok right? Because now the shoe is on the other foot. The only thing I would ask is when you are doing your research make sure to check the source.

I own my vote – That at least = truth.

  • Darryl

You have to go onto the DNC website and there is a link somewhere to be taken off their mailing list. That is what I had to do.

  • StrawberrybitesBarky

Dear god, that’s the best you got? Obama is as bad as Hillary? You are a sad excuse for a human being and you’ve got a shitty sales pitch. Obama is a crappy politician who has to resort to cheating and slamming the only democrats to hand the republicans a defeat in decades and you are a fucking fat, stupid cow to slam the Clintons. You will lose in November. Deal with it.

No matter. We know Hillary isn’t perfect. She’s the best person for the job.

When you hold a job some day, well, beyond Burger King or babysitting, you’ll understand that job applicants need qualifications. The One has none.

  • ObamaIzSexist

Obama supporters use ad hominen arguments, or personal attacks, rather than address substance issues because they have no evidence to back up Obama’s positions. Personal attacks are also used when an opponent is unable to find fault with your argument.

It is easier to call someone a “racist” than to dialogue about issues. Consider it a compliment when someone “personally attacks” you because that means you have outsmarted them.

  • Pink Panthers

    Thank you.

    What about Obama’s mailing list?

  • Paul3triple

Bosnia was a war zone when she went.
Has michelle been to a war zone?? was Barry ever in a war zone be4 he ran for prez??
Hillary served on the defense committee for 6 years.
Does that not count in Obamaland? You cats live in oppositesville. Nothing means alot real racism means not racism.
Get real dude. Ask the folks in New york what she has done. She has REAL credentials as a bipartisan.

So she embellished a story. Kinda like Obama saying JFK flew his daddy here or he was concieved because of Selma. Or Ayers is just a guy in my neighborhood or “thats not the Rev. Wright i Knew” or “thats not the Tony Rezko I knew” or I am against Nafta, then telling the canucks he is joking and denying it then saying well rhetoric gets “overheated”
    Barry is a real winner.LOL

It is humorous about Bill’s coattails as well. As i recall, everyone back in the 90′s said bill was her puppet. I guess they forgot saying that now

  • KarenAnn

  • imustprotest

Sonya is not a “cultist”. I have read many of her excellent comments here and on other blogs. I do think it may be a typo though not an indicator of Republicanism.

  • PS

No, the house was bought for $1.65 mill as stated. The 10 ft strip that BO bought, I believe, did not go thru legal channels to document the split/sell.

  • Mr. X

First off, you’re using Obama logic. That kind of logic is faulty. When Obama claims the high road, he loses the right to then say others are worse than he is (not to mention it’s always a lie). So there goes your entire argument.

And OH SUUUUURE!!! a Chicago politician can’t possibly be corrupt. No, never. And then consider that the Clinton’s are the most ivestigated couple in history. What do the Republicans keep finding? Nada! It’s nothing more than a smear job and you’re promoting the Republican smears and lies. You’re doing the Republicans’s job for them. It’s also interesting to note that you mention Rezko and Wright, but don’t mention what Hillary did that was so terrible.

Maybe it’s her fight for minorities and women’s rights all her life? Maybe it’s fighting for universal health care for 18 years? Maybe it’s her years of public service as first lady and senator? Maybe you’re just full of shit. We know she has baggage, but she’s proven herself. Obama has not.

This is the best letter I’ve read. It’s gets to the core of the problem. Obama is MUCH MUCH worse than Bush. No one knows where Obama stands and that’s what makes him dangerous.

  • Darryl

Oh forgot to answer you question. Nether one of the has passed a bill that they sponsored by themselves. That is very rare, all most all of the time bills are passed through committees. So moving on from there here are there statistics

    Obama

    Number of sponsored bills: 65
    Number of co-sponsored bills 364
Number of sponsored bills passed: 0
Number of co-sponsored bills passed: 5

    Clinton

    Number of sponsored bills: 123
    Number of co-sponsored bills 486
Number of sponsored bills passed: 0
Number of co-sponsored bills passed: 7

So Hillary is up by two.

  • Ted

Hmm.. The guy is a big DNC donor but he end his screed with this: “Andy, my country comes first, not the Democrat party” Right. All big DNC folks use the political slur “the Democrat party” to refer to the Democratic party. I guess that’s why his name is nowhere to be found above.

And it wasn’t a vacant lot. It was the lawn of the house – the yard as it had been for decades. When a high fence surrounds the single property until the Obamas wanted to buy it – to call half of it containing the lawn and driveway a vacant lot is deceptive. It was subdivided for purposes of the sale – but as the property was a heritage home, it had to go through a procedure on this. Guess what? Michele was a member of the heritage group.

Hsu Steered Major Fundraiser to Obama
Campaign Acknowledges Link to Democratic Donor Who Is Now Under Arrest

Before becoming a major bundler for Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton’s

presidential campaign, disgraced Democratic donor Norman Hsu helped

host a 2005 California event for Barack Obama’s political action

committee and introduced the senator from Illinois to one of the

biggest fundraisers for his presidential bid.

    (snip)
Mark Gorenberg, who now sits on Obama’s national finance committee and

is one of his biggest fundraisers, said Hsu organized an early 2005

event for the Hopefund and invited him to help raise money.

“He introduced me to Barack Obama,” Gorenberg said of Hsu. “He was

working on an event for Barack’s PAC, and he asked me to help, and I

did. Barack came up to San Francisco, and introduced him to a

    bunch of people.”

We will never vote for a corrupted dog as Obama.

We will not vote for Obama for a V.P ticket!never.

And to think Obama said “I will get Hillary’s supporters” lol lol lol lol lol never will you get Hillary supporters. No wonder why Dean Howard-Donna Brazile will email back if you email them and tell you shut up or else.

Hillary or else it will be Mccain for Hillary supporters.

    Hillary we love you!

Wow, I never met the world’s most perfect typist before. Tell us all Sonya, how do you do it? We try so hard and make typos all the time. Do you have magic fingers or what?

  • sushilover

Not the guy. She. Look the sentense:
“in response to comments by Tobias that SHE could not see the forest through the trees.”

  • OxyCon

Great letter. It addresses so many of the reasons why I will never support Obama and why I am no longer a Dem. I could have wrote it myself if I was that good at articulating my thoughts and composing them all in one letter.

  • cleffnote

I believe this may be what you’re looking for:

Norman Hsu, the former fugitive who was a major contributor to Democratic candidates including Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton, has agreed to be extradited from Colorado to San Mateo, Calif

I wonder about these people sometimes. Do they accept the type of quality bo represents when they buy things? Do they settle for ipods that only work half the time? Do they accept clothing with the seams falling apart? bo is the type of product you get at the dollar store.

  • mahaska

Well, when the draft comes, some of these trolls will learn some real life.

  • mahaska

This person nailed it exactly. I feel the same way.

  • JozefAL

Ted, I’m sorry but I’ve seen plenty of Obama’s supporters use “the Democrat Party” in writing (and heard them say it when speaking).
Unless you’re going to spend time criticizing your “brethren” (or perhaps your “bros”) over their failings, don’t expect us to shed tears on the issue.

  • Hope Floats

He says that he’s from Texas, and I’ve heard many from there refer to it as the Democrat party.

  • http://tinyurl.com/IOwnMyVote-News I Own My Vote

Yes, we know who wrote it. And yes, we know it was sent to Andy Tobias. At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter though. If you think it’s rational and sound, you can send it to Andy Tobias.

But rest assured, it’s all true, and no, we’re not telling.

  • http://tinyurl.com/IOwnMyVote-News I Own My Vote

Make yourself heard at http://www.IOwnMyVote.com, just like this donor did.

  • Ted

Very interesting vinnie. Thanks for the update on the family. But I was more concerned about the obvious forgery that is being passed of by a SNC donor. “Democrat party” jeesh.

  • Ted

Not the point. No politically savy person who is a supporter of the Democratic party would use the term that way. I think we all know this. I’m not criticising the author of the letter, I am saying the letter is a fake, and that is what the author’s name is not mentioned anywhere. It’s a rundown of the republican talking points.

  • Ted

    True. Like Bush.

  • ellen

Prove that obama has paid trolls on the blogs. just prove it. this letter would be fine if it weren’t so full of absolute bs and lies.

  • Hope Floats

I have seen this attack before on other sites. No one has ever explained it. Why is calling it the Democrat party a sure sign that someone is a closet Republican? That’s the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard.

  • Hope Floats

It’s not meant to carry any weight for you. There is no story here but that the DNC has received a letter. If this is true, they know who the author is. This was published here as an acknowledgment that others in the party feel the way the regulars here do. It sums up many points that have already been brought up. Nothing happened yet.

  • YONOBAMA

You are an idiot troll! Since when would ANYONE post their real name to anything if they are against Obama? So her (yes, it is a woman, read it again) house and car can be vandalized? So she can be threatened in the street? So she can have a mutilated rabbit hung by her front door and her tires slashed like TechGuy who took apart the phony birth certificate on the FighttheSmears website? Why don’t you give us your name so we can give your post more weight? Didn’t think so. Again, you’re a stupid troll.

  • Hope Floats

Voodoo! Do it on a Saturday. I learned about that stuff in Bed Stuy.

BRAVO! County before Party.. NOBAMA, I own my vote.

  • Ted

OK. Let’s do a quick review of the way commenters here respond to those whodo not share their opinions. Apply the same standards, and draw conclusions about the typical NQ reader.

Or does it only work when applied to the other guy?

  • http://tinyurl.com/IOwnMyVote-News I Own My Vote

It may be worthless to you, but since I have Andy Tobias’s reply, I assure you he knows he’s not getting his usual check.

  • Hope Floats

You could have been a banker. So, you’re a squeegee guy instead? I can’t think of how else you know so much about whores but by hanging out on the street.

Great Letter – This country needs more people like Andy Tobias! He speaks his mind and tells the truth unlike Obama the lying politician and all the lying liars that support Obama should be ashamed. But they are not. They are the same Republicans and Democrats that give Government and Party a bad name. Rise up – speak for yourself and own your vote. I’m voting for McCain so that Obama cannot win. If not Hillary – I vote Republican down ticket to take my country back from the idiots who call themselves players.

  • ellen

Need I remind you of convicted felon Johnny Chung’s 49 visits to the white house, one time giving an envelope with $50,000 for Clinton’s campaign to maggie williams. Or Vinod Gupta’s scandals and the $900K worth of free flights and hawaiian vacations enjoyed by the clintons at his behest? Or how about John Huang (another convicted criminal-who EVERYONE knew about) and his 70 visits to the white house, bringing his friends to view Clinton giving white house addresses. or Keith Rainer. and of course the on-going trial of Peter Paul, who is accusing the Clinton’s of promising a job association with him in return for a million dollar fundraiser he threw for Hillary in 2000 (my boss attended and saw Hillary and Peter together – definitely knew each other) but how can that be, Hillary claims she never knew Paul! and lastly, the photo of Rezko and the Clinton’s after the latter handed over his donation to, yup, you guessed it, Hillary Clinton!!

  • Marie of Wilton Manors

    I agree with ‘standard’.

In fact, this letter should be published in the New York Times.

Better yet, post it on Huff&Puff. When she wrote the part about the paid bloggers, well, that’s got to be where they all are, right?

It’s odd, but I can never get H&P to publish my little ditties. Too bad they don’t have half the courage of this major donor.

Whoever you are, letter writer, thank you.

  • JM

I felt like I could have written the above post word for word. I have made comments in the different blogs that when pieced together, would have had a very similar content. My problem is that I never took the time to put everything together as did the letter writer in this article. To the writer, I say BRAVO! The comments that you have written in the letter are what so many people know and feel. Obama is not the wave of the future, but the scourge of the past.

  • YONOBAMA

I bought the tee shirt as well and have never gotten anything in letter form or e-mail form from the Obama campaign.

Also, don’t believe for a second that BJ is a Hillary supporter. Everything she posts says she’s an Obama troll. She’s here to instill doubt about both this letter sent by a big name donor and about Hillary selling out everyone’s name that donated to her.

BJ is troll and shows it by calling Meeechelle a B**** as well. I’m one of hose woman who complained loudly about sexism/misogyny in the campaign, and I don’t think any of us should be using that word about another woman on this blog. Doing so makes us no better than the idiots who used it on Hillary.

  • Hope Floats

The more negatives than Bush argument comes from Karl Rove. Can you name her negatives besides being a woman and being married to Bill Clinton (a neg only if you’re a Republican)? No, not every politician is arrogant. You seem to have confused that with audacity, which not everyone is, either. Hillary wanted power, and she’s an opportunist. That comes with the territory when you’re running for POTUS. She and Obama are different people with different levels and kinds of experience. She never tried to pass herself off as the Second Coming of JFK or whatever dead President Obama tries to imitate on any given day. She ran as simply herself, and we supported her as a rare, talented human being.

  • carol

Please give us the names of those that feel the same way…and are stuck with Obama?? maybe we can all write to them. unless you don’t have their names…..

Is Obama a secret Republican? The plot thickens!

  • Ani

Wow. NancyA, thank you for posting this letter.

This needs to be sent out far and wide. It is clearly one of the best, most specific arguments for not voting for Obama I have ever read.

Excellent. Written by someone who obviously knows what (s)he is talking about.

  • Zee

And in the VERY next line he uses “Democratic Party.”

    Nice try, Ted.

And, thanks, Nancy, for featuring this outstanding letter!

  • candymarl

If you had eyewitnesses, sworn affidavits and video, nothing would convince Obama supporters.

Black folk freezing in public housing with rats and collapsing ceilings, in Obama’s district, while Obama helped funnel money to Rezko won’t convince them. Quotes from said tenants won’t convince them.

I warned Larry J. about this. They won’t even believe named and attributed sources in mainstream newspapers.

All unattributed sources will be dismissed.

    Just an observation.

  • Zee

ellen, you should be more concerned that Obama is a liar and a fraud. And the letter is absolutely correct. Obama did NOTHING as state senator and then was given other people’s work in order to pad his shoddy resume for him to run for national office.

  • Zee

    see the post below:

“No one is asking for purity. Just drop the ‘holier than thou I’m not like those other people, stuff’.”

Obama is a liar and fraud. Made worse by pretending he is “different” and a “uniter.”

Well, he is neither one of those, so he…and you…should STFU. The “other politicians are dirty, TOO” is a pisspoor argument when the pol is claiming he’s NOT like a pol, that he’s “different.”

But then again, like lying false messiah, like dumbass tool follower. Each talking out of both sides of their…bs orifice.

  • Zee

Moron. FACTS are not thug talking points.

Obama IS a fraud and liar and did NOTHING until he wanted to run for national office and was then GIVEN other people’s work to claim as his own.

Of course, fraud and narcissist that he is, he took it, just as he took Hillary’s votes in Michigan.

  • beebop

His inflated ego would require nothing less.

  • Mr. X

I can’t get over how good this letter is. It sums up Obama and the DNC perfectly. Either the DNC is corrupt or they want someone corrupt. There’s simply no way they don’t know. And even if they don’t, then you don’t want to be anywhere near people so oblivious to any kind of principles.

  • Zee

    candymarl, you are so correct.

All the stories researched and written in the Chicago Sun-Times by Lynn Sweet, all those stories in the Chicago Tribune, Washington Post, etc, etc, which tell how Obama horned in on others’ work is just “republican talking points” to these morons. Or maybe they are just bored kids getting a paycheck to pretend to be stupid?

  • Newly Independent

“No one is asking for purity. Just drop the ‘holier than thou I’m not like those other people, stuff’.”

And *THIS* is the bottom line!!!

The Clintons NEVER pretended to be the second coming of Jesus Christ – unlike phony, corrupted Obama!!!

They didn’t – and don’t – put up false, contrived pretenses to sucker the masses like Obama’s fake ass.

The Clintons are also NOT afraid to be criticized and scrutinized – unlike that weak, fake bitch Obama! They understand that criticism and scrutiny are both parts of being in the public eye as politicians. Clinton supporters don’t always like the harsh (and oftentimes unbalanced) treatment they receive, but overall we understand that Bill and Hillary have to endure the unkind treatment. ONLY Obama and many of the weak-minded pansies that follow him don’t understand this! Which is why they try to holler “racism” all the damn time now.

The Clintons only promised to be the best political servants for America. Not to be phony, “holier than thou” symbols of morality, like Obama is pretending to be. ALL politicans should be ethically and morally upright at ALL times – but they’re not unfortunately. Because politicians are imperfect human beings, just like the rest of us.

Having said that, there are no words – nor combination of words – that will make most Hillary supporters go to vote for Obama in November. Because the true bottom line for most of us is that Obama is the least qualified to be POTUS this year. No words can change his lack of experience. Add to that all of the other serious problems with Obama – Rezko, Wright, the flip-flopping on key Democratic issues he once claimed to support – and you have a serious lose-lose situation in an Obama presidency.

Integrity is like one’s virtue–you lose it only once.

  • Newly Independent

    LOL!!! Really.

Sick of the damn Obama trolls…

  • Clinton Fan

Ha, ha, ha!! Trot out the usual lies, with the faux outrage, to boot!

Stop feeling sorry for Carol Shepp McCain, former model, gutsy woman and tough cookie. She doesn’t want or need your fake sympathy. She wasn’t UNHAPPY when McCain left.

She, you see, was STUCK with him…because at the time (and you punks weren’t around then, you don’t REMEMBER the Vietnam era) a lot of POW wives were getting LOUSY PRESS and being called “hussies” because they couldn’t take it, the waiting, the uncertainty, and many of them cheated, or dumped/divorced their husbands because they just couldn’t get along. There was no “Family Support and Services” back then–none of that “deployment debriefing/psychological assessment” crap they have now. You went home and were expected to pretend everything was normal, that nothing had changed. And she was married to one of the most high-profile POWs in the mix. She was TRAPPED.

Carol DID get in a horrible accident. That wasn’t McCain’s fault; he was still a POW–they were BOTH on crutches for the longest time. She DID work tirelessly to keep the POW issue front and center. She was on TV all the time, doing interviews to try to keep the issue at the forefront. They loved having her on, because she was a KNOCKOUT. Former models usuallly do photograph well, and she sure did.

But when her SECOND HUSBAND (yes, SHE was married before, had kids with that guy, and dumped him), John McCain, came home, they had NOTHING IN COMMON ANYMORE.

They drifted apart. It was sad. It was unfortunate.

    But it HAPPENS.

She said “He wanted to be 25 again. I didn’t.”

He freely admits he didn’t try. He lived life like a guy who got a second crack at it. He has publicly apologized for being such a crappy husband after he came home (Ewwww-if you read his BOOOOOOOOKS, you’d KNOOOOOOOOOW that!!). He doesn’t try to puff himself up, or pretend he was such a hot shit when he wasn’t–unlike his opponent.

She let him go with God. He solved her problem–she wasn’t into him any more than he was into her. It’s why she’s happy that he was, and still is, a good father to her children (he adopted them all–all those “older McCains” aren’t related by blood–they’re Carol’s kids with her first husband) and it is why she contributes generously to his campaigns.

Some divorces ARE amicable. Stop trying to make the woman into something pathetic and unempowered. She’s a victor, not a victim. She stood up and did everything she could to get her husband out of Vietnam, and then she and he both moved on.

She’s happier than you are, certainly. And I’ll bet she’s not at all concerned about your private life, no matter how much you pretend to care about hers.

Oh, and I’m not decided about voting for Johnny, ust in case you get the wrong idea that I’m in his corner because I bother to research the candidates before I make up my mind. I may vote for Cynthia McKinney–pure protest, that vote. I may vote for Bozo the fucking Clown. But I won’t vote for NOBAMA. He’s a crook, and a bum.

And I own my vote. Howard Dean can’t tell me what to do.

Thank you so much for this letter. I hope more people have the courage to speak out against nobamba after all this is STILL America, land of the FREE, we can vote for what ever candidate we feel will put our country first, not his own selfcentered needs.

Since Hillary has been hostilely forced out, John McCain is my choice. He cares about America, her people, and the Soldiers who protect us. Nobama doesn’g give a rats a@@ for anyone but himself and getting to the WH.

Are these the new tacticts the drons learned at there nobot seminar? Well if we can’t call them racist for not falling in line behind the chosen one we will just say they are Republicans. Really classy.

    Hillary 08
    McCain 08

They/ve given up any charade about being nicey, nicey to dsigruntled Clinton supporters. More of the Borg approach. YOU WILL BE ASSIMILATED, RESISTANCE IS FUTILE! It’s entertaining to watch the shrillness and desperation level rise as oBOMBalamadingdong sinks in the polls. The Democrats should have been able to run a sock puppet this election and win with a landslide of historic proportions. Instead they have a third rate conman and a dead heat with LOTS of time for the republicans to paint the precious as the scumbag conman that he is. COME ON NOVEMBER!!!

Wow. Great letter. Make it viral!

  • Ditto!

I actually know the author and they really did run a very successful hedge fund and automatically max out to both the DNC and the presidential candidates.

I would point out that unlike letters that are written by sock puppets, the author does not refer to themselves as a consistently maxed out donor. Also the knowledge and shorthand the author uses to write from a investment community leader to another investment community leader (Tobias in his non-political life) gives credibility to the letter.

More importantly the factual points the letter makes hold up.
If anyone really does want to try to debunk this as a forgery, contact Andy Tobias directly and see what he says.

Try harder Ted. All you can say is “ic” makes the difference in credibility here. We call it the “ick” factor around here, and it does pertain to the party that starts with D right now. And as to this donor’s name, he has probably noticed the B.O.T.T. strategy and is smart to conceal himself.

Hope Floats, the use of “Democrat Party” by Repugs is a well-known tactic, one of their bottomless bag of petty and vindictive nyah-nyahs. All the Smarmsters in the GOP use it, deliberately. Dubya does it all the time–despite knowing (actually, probably because he does know!) that it’s offensive to Dems.

During one memorable debate in the House last year, a Democratic congressman (I wish I remember who it was!) got so fed up with it that he started saying “the Republic party” in every mention. It was hilarious, especially because the Puggies couldn’t say anything and just sat there fuming looking like their heads were about to explode.

You’ll very occasionally see Democrats use it but in most cases it’s a typo or a mistake. Some may be adopting it now, as a way of distancing themselves from the party–this I don’t know.

But no,the idea that it’s a repug smear is not just an Obots’ fantasy. (The idea that their Dear Leader is presidential material, well that certainly is!)

By the way, looks like the bloom may be off the rose for some believers. Dana Millbank skewers the Presumptuous One today:

According to the Office of Thrift Supervision:

Superior Bank suffered as a result of its former high-risk business strategy, which was focused on the generation of significant volumes of subprime mortgage and automobile loans for securitization and sale in the secondary market

In other words, they were part of the problem. And Obama’s association with these players puts him squarely on the opposite team from the people he claims to want to help.

“I consistently believe that when it comes to whether it’s Native Americans or African-American issues or reparations, the most important thing for the U.S. government to do is not just offer words, but offer deeds.” Obama http://starbulletin.com/2008/07/28/news/story05.html

Pandering or vote buying? He probably has seen the anti Obama site of our Native Americans. They fell for lies once and ended up with smallpox blankets, I doubt if they will fall again.

As for the so called African Americans* for years have been calling for reparations from the USA. The demands have grown louder with this man’s candidacy. Has Obama promised them this? An Executive Order maybe? After all his co sponsored a Bill on Poverty give Billions away. How much weight can the working class American stand? As for AA they should look to the Arabs, the actual slavers, who if facts prove out are Obama’s true roots.
*I find the term African American offensive. Either be an African or be and American. Split loyalty has no place in the citizenship of this country, more especially in a president.

The democrats are already falling in line.
The resolution, passed by voice vote, was the work of Tennessee Democrat Steve Cohen, the only white lawmaker to represent a majority black district. Cohen faces a formidable black challenger in a primary face-off next week.
The Cohen resolution does not mention reparations. It does commit the House to rectifying “the lingering consequences of the misdeeds committed against African-Americans under slavery and Jim Crow.”

House formally apologizes for slavery and Jim Crow

  • PamFlorida

How perceptive of you to zero in on the use of the term Democrat party vs Democratic party. In your view, it is a gaffe that proves the entire letter is a forgery (BTW-look up the defininition of forgery).
It would be more fruitful to assess the letter in it’s entirety, rather than seize on the “inartful” use of two words.
What I find disturbing is the fact that Sen. Obama rarely, if ever, defines himself as a Democrate or a member of the Democratic party. Frankly, he fails to define himself at all.
    Why?

Great letter! I agree with every point the author makes.

I also don’t believe it is real. This letter reads like a fairy tale wish list of everything we want to say to the DNC regarding Obama.

  • JJw

Hey TEDDY, It is the democrat party. It is not the democratic party. Please understand the difference.

Democratic refers to “supporting democracy or its principles”(obviously not this year)

We live in a democratic society! But take a look at our pledge.

“I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands,

ROOT WORD – Democrat / Democratic

ROOT WORD – Republic / Republican

Next you will say The word Democrat will have something to do with Democracy…

  • Country Before Party

Exactly, it’s the same people commenting after every truthful article written about Obama.

It’s getting old Ted! No new material ever!

Your savior is by far the worst Democratic nominee in years! Once again our party threw away a guaranteed chance to win this election with the best candidate possible, Hillary Clinton. Once again, we will lose; however, with Obama as the nominee I will actually be thankful! He is more concerned about his ego than his country or fellow Americans. He lacks what Hillary has, and that is genuine, heartfelt care for the citizens of this country. I’m sorry to disappoint, but the Clintons have being doing great things for America for decades. You obviously have no clue! You should take up reading, it might awaken and enlighten you!

If the DNC and Superdelegates do not wake up at the convention and Nobama becomes our offical nominee, I will be voting for McCain. I hate to cross party lines, but I must put this country before the Democratic party. John McCain is not Bush the 3rd or McBush, he has many good plans, no they are not as ideal as Hillary’s but better than Obamas. He is also trustworthy and has been vetted. I trust him and his love for the U.S. I cannot say the same for Obama.

BTW: Great article! Many people share your views! :o )

  • http://theheraclitanfire.blogspot.com/ craigdp

I’m troubled by this letter, while I agree with the sentiments expressed, I have great difficulty believing that this was written by a sophisticated hedge fund manager/investor. First, there are egregious spelling and grammatical errors that don’t jibe with the implied authorship. Second, the general tone of the letter smacks of a rant, again not what I would expect from this level of communication. Last, the use of the phrase “Democrat party” is right wing trope intended to delegitimize the Democrat-ic party.
Taken as a whole I’m afraid this looks more like a ‘plant’ than a legitimate letter – a shame though, it would be great if the big Dem donors took Dean & Co. out to the woodshed for a good thrashing.

  • Lucille Arneson

What an excellent letter! These thoughts are my thoughts from beginning to end. The essence of Obama is captured here. As a lifelong Democrat, I couldn’t possibly vote for Obama. McCain will my vote, if the Democrats don’t realize their folly and nominate Hillary for president in Denver.

Ted, you’re missing one BIG piece of information here. The person who wrote this letter is a WOMAN! If you’d actually READ the letter, you might know that. Oh, but I forgot, you Obama supporters don’t know how to read.

  • sioux0707

Absolute BS and lies? Nope, these aren’t lies. This stuff is becoming common knowledge. There are people out there who personally know Obama and have written articles about the things he’s done because they were there and saw his actions with their own eyes. How about the reporter in Chicago who knew Obama years ago? He wrote an article and talked about mean and vicious Obama was to him. I believe it.

  • sioux0707

No, remember? Obama planted little chips in their brains, so they’re programmed to do what he wants. Reading and researching are not on his list of things to program them to do.

  • sioux0707

I thought that, too. There are some spelling errors–”principals” instead of “principles” among others. I thought at times the letter was not very well written. But that doesn’t surprise me. I know a lot of people with graduate degrees who write very poorly–don’t know how to spell, don’t know proper grammar. So, no I’m not surprised that a supposed Wall Street tycoon would have poor spelling and grammer.

    Great letter.

I’m not a MAJOR donor, just an ordinary lifelong democrat who donates money to the candidates I support.

What is the best way for me to let the DNC know that I agree with everything in this letter and, for the first time in almost 30 years, I do not and cannot support the presumptive nominee. Is it worth a letter to the DNC? Do the voices of ordinary citizens, without lots of extra money to spend, matter any more? I’m not even sure my vote matters any more.

What’s a person like me to do with this total disappointment and disdain I feel regarding my voting booth choices this fall?

  • derridog

I agree and wish I could send it out to people I’m trying to convince not to vote for Obama. But without a name signed, Im afraid they would just dismiss it as fraudulent. I can understand how such a person would not want her name out there, however, as she would be harrassed. I’m nervous even about putting a Nobama bumper sticker on my car. I don’t want it trashed. That’s what we have come to expect from the followers of “Mr. Unity.”

Dean and the DNC are the ones who gave the Obama campaign our info. And in the last few days, it looks like Edwards mailing list was part of whatever deal he made.

I was an Edwards supporter before I became a Clinton woman.

Don’t know about that. I have received 3 mailings from BO, and each time my last name (7 letters) has one letter changed or omitted.

Knowing what I do about his money laundering history – I can only assume the modifications of one letter off the last name, and then migrating to altering the first name, is one place where they will take the Mid-East money, and claim that each indidivdual with a different spelling, gave BO #199.99 so that it doesn’t have to be reported.

They can keep doing that up til the $2300 dollar limit for the many people they make me out to be.

I have saved copies of the letters and will send them to the FEC. Depending on how the Convention works out, I may just send the info to the RNC. Republicans really seem to enjoy prosecurting voter fraud.

For me it has come down to the enemy of my enemy may just be my friend.

The “Global Poverty Bill” was Obama’s promised payment to Kofi Annan for negotiating a deal where his cousin Raila magically became “Executive Primes Minister” of Kenya.

For the genocide and crimes against humanity, Raila should be sitting at the Hague awaiting trial. Yet, because the insanity was backed by so called “Dem Leadership” it is costing US, “We the People” to have the butcher of Kenya, Raila Odinga. sit in an office as “Executive Prime Minister” and our 48 Billion Dollars which will be paid how?.

The whole thing makes me physically ill, given the scope and breadth of atoricities committed.

    Hello Cappy….

Andy will be happy to verify I exist…
He is a very gracious man and we have been friends for the last 5 years.

    We just disagree about Obama..

You’re right, actually, I shouldn’t have come here. Unfortunately I clicked a link that was posted on the Obama site. Didn’t know it would lead me here. The person who posted this on the Obama site went on our next thread full of four-letter words in caps! How rude! I promise I won’t come back as long as you lock up your rabid dogs. Shake on it?
Have a good day. I mean that, sincerely.

  • Mita

Didn’t mean to troll, Chelsea. As I explained a bit earlier, I merely clicked on a link (placed by a rude troll) on the Obama site and came here. I promise I won’t come back as long as you lock up your own rabid trolls.
Happy defecating, Chelsea. It’s good for you. And teach some spelling to your friends while you’re at it.

  • Mita

I’ll promise to scram if you lock up the dogs who put this link on the Obama site.

Unfortunately, Hillary AGREED to Michigan, Florida, and caucuses, Silverfox. She only started disagreeing when she realized she would lose the nomination. It’s called trying to change the rules in the middle of the game.
Listen, I voted for Hillary in early February. At this point I have nothing against her. I will vote for Obama in November. Just ask your trolls to stop posting negative things about him on his site.

    Thanks! x

[...] Major DNC Donor to Party Treasurer: Obama is a Bad Investment (by NancyA at No Quarter) “Andy, if I worked and served the people in the 13th District in Chicago, I would have known all of the players. And to win that district, would I have gamed the system to run unopposed? Tony Rezko would not have had a seat at my table… I would not choose Rev. Wright, Rev. Meeks, or Father Plager as my spiritual mentors, not for political reasons… Would I be hanging out with Mr. Ayers? Would you? Would you refuse to be photographed with Gavin Newsom? There is a pattern with this guy – he manipulates; and for him the ends justify the means. He lacks character. [...]

Glad the article mentioned that Obama wanted to support Roberts to the supreme court. That was in the NYTimes about his support for Roberts, because he feels Bush should have leeway as to who he appoints to courts.

In the very next line SHE (the letter writer is a woman not a man, btw) says “Democratic party” — huh, like you’ve never had a typo or who knows, this letter could have been retyped from an actual paper letter into a computer.

You’re just in denial about your so-called candidate of “hope” is in reality exactly what we’ve all been saying all along and this letter writer lays out in a perfectly concise way.

    NObama ever!!!

Of course Obama is ambitious; and Hillary or McCain arent? Being ambitious is nothing to fault a person for. I support Obama because of what his says, his clear logic and ability to inspire.

Also, though this person says he doesnt put his country first but rather is a disgruntled Clinton supporter, else why would they have added a link to the pro-clinton site(www.iownmyvote.com). This person is no more than a disgruntled Clinton supporter who has yet come to terms with the fact that Obama beat the clinton political machine fair and square in the primaries. I will put Obama’s ethics up against the Clinton’s eithics any day.

Look, I see Obama as rational, clearheaded and right on with his objective assessment of our problems as a nation. Also, lets face our country’s politics are based on a two party system and the other party has lost thier right to govern on all levels. They should all just step aside now and hang thier heads in shame.

What a bunch of dribble, get over it.
