It's California, stupid. Specifically it's the Santa Barbara Channel, the oil spill of 1969 and the Field Poll.

The Field Poll (not a girly-man national poll but a California poll) spots Obama 24 points on McCain.

Icebergs will crowd the fiery seas of Hell before McCain ever carries California. He can afford to piss off the state.

Obama is obviously pissing away five or six percent of that lead to me-too an issue he is being hammered with as gas drifts upward toward five bucks a gallon.

Everyone knows they have THEIR best interests in mind but that doesn't matter. What matters is all the MONEY we're spending in other countries for fuel, $700 billion this year, and that must change for the good of the country. Let's have AMERICANS working this industry, building rigs are harvesting American energy. The New gas fields just found are HUGE, lets start running fleets on that and putting up more windmills, even in Teddy Kennedy's sailing area. That will provide many jobs for good Americans.

GeekLove, send it to Hannity. This one is worthy of a lot of attention. Thanks.

"What I don't want to do is say something because it sounds good politically."

Oh that's rich lol. He spends everyday saying things just because they sound good politically. Too funny and so typical of his total ego driven personality. Others do those things but not "The One". He would never do that because he is a different kind of candidate. He's the one you've been waiting for. All of you. What a fantasy world he lives in. I really think he has gone off the deep end. And people want him as POTUS. The most powerful job in the world. Not me, not ever.

We were leaving for the weekend, and we passed my brother-in-law while coming out of the driveway. He reminded us to inflate our tires, and I cheered, "Go Obama!" My husband cracked up, but I don't think my BIL got the joke. He looked at me like I was drunk before lunch.

I agree mostly that it is their back yard, but more we already have huge environmental disasters in our country without taking on any more. The Canadians are having environmental problems with their tar sands extraction process. I think there is something fundamentally wrong with an oil company making billions and billions of dollars - record profits - at a time when Americans are really suffering because of gas prices. I like Hillary's energy plan. Gosh I like Hillary and wish we could have her as our nominee.

Don't underestimate Obama. He is a master politician and proves it again and again. I also think Pelosi/Reid may have known about this flip a few days ago, which is why they blocked the vote.

Offshore drilling is based on the premise that the oil companies have America's best interests at heart. If anybody believes that then I have a bridge that I would like to talk to him/her about.

Thanks for this, Charles. This is what we need, very concrete proof of the instantaneous flip flop. This needs to be spread far and wide.

“What I don’t want to do is say something because it sounds good politically.”

When it comes to BO it's;

1)"I don't want" (you to vote for me)

2)"say something" (anything,ahh umm)

3)"sounds good" (people under the bus)

Energy consumption is increased in trying to understand what this pol is, Quisling Obama.

So if the oil can't be extracted 'til ten years down the road, does anyone think that the oil will be for exclusive domestic use? Can you say Enron?

Answer NO. What goes into the pipeline will end up anywhere BUT America.

So if we want to nationalize oil companies like that BO supporter in Venezuela, who just nationalized Banco de Venezuela, get to it BO. Just shut up and get something done. Ya can't? Because why?

Oh I get it, ya wise guy! BO, ya really think Republicans need compromising with?
Don't suppose you have been watching C-Span while you were throwin more folks under the bus?
(Is it stressful for you to do that BO? I'm exhausted just watching!)

Ya rammed yourself down our throats, whats a matter? Rethugs got ya in bind?

Race card not working on 'em? oops!

Charles, thanks for the oil riggs!

I was thinking something similar, when he was saying the names of a bunch of geographical locales as a means of suggesting to us peons that he knew about the workings of the world.

I do not doubt he is intelligent. I think he lacks the depth and breadth of knowledge that only comes through experience, which is why they try to pretend he knows.

A few weekends ago I was visiting a friend who is an adolescent lion in the big six of the oil world. He had a token from a session on negotiation that listed a number of negotiation axioms.

One of these axioms was "Say it, do not sell it." Obama must sell himself because he does not have the record that says who he is. Furthermore, he continues to change what he says, which ends up being a statement about who he is. How can people determine what they are buying when it continually changes? What are they to think when they are told that they their perception of that change is a mistake based on their original misinterpretation of his actual position?

Two weeks ago I said that, barring some major event that works against the Republicans, Obama was done. Ceteris paribus, Obama is done. We are now left with the interesting question of "Can Hillary receive the nomination in a way that does not disenfranchise Obama supporters?"
