Here’s How Bad The Clintons Were to African Americans

This video was made before the Chicago Thug broke some kneecaps, threatened to interject well-financed opponents in primaries and otherwise harassed people to fall into line.

This is how little African American leaders thought of Hillary:

“African American Men For Hillary”

  • konrad

    Wow,

What an amazing vote of confidence. Was it all jsut hot air ???

Where are all those folks now and what are they saying. It’s amazing how they can flip and leave her hanging like that…. makes you wonder if they will do the same to Obama.

  • Thomas

It’s August, it’s time. Hillary for POTUS in Denver. Democratic victory this November. Nothing less.

As Judge Mills would say “Let’s get it on!

  • hilldemgoneindie

breaks my heart to see this video. what the hell happened?!?!? i swear i’m going to wake up in a cold sweat any time now and this will all be nothing but a nightmare.

  • HRocks

Just Friday, someone posted a video link that some AA’s in FL where heckling Obama. Maybe there’s hope yet, that a change will occur in Denver.

  • http://www.law.indiana.edu/uslawdocs/declaration.html Hillary’sSimplytheBest

    Thank you Uppity Woman

It was nice to see the support she had with AA men before O’poseur and team did their dirty work.

  • http://investigatebarackobama.wordpress.com/puma/ kat in your hat

Makes me feel sad…and proud. This whole thing IS a nightmare. Obama over Hillary? It just does not make logical sense…it’s so wacked to choose the the candidate who is less experienced and with far less integrity. I am so disappointed in my party and in so many Americans who were fooled by Obama the Fraud. Just shameful.

  • MaryPat

Which is why I’m all in favor of whatever it takes to knock Obama off of his pedestal–including going “negative.” Obama and Axelrod are slick operators, and the Republicans absolutely MUST go on the attack. It was a relief to see the ads for which McCain is taking so much criticism–what took them so long? Well, apparently the new guy in charge is taking the McCain campaign in a different direction. And Britney and Charlton Heston were just the warm-up acts.

    http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2008/aug/03/johnmccain.barackobama

This is no time to be noble. Desperate times call for desperate measures.

  • socalannie

I had exactly the same thought, hilldemgoneindy…heartbreaking…and what the hell happened? Did any of these men defend her when she was being ripped apart by the msm? What are they doing now?

God I am so sick of the democratic party. What a huge, huge disappoint they have become.

Anyway, thanks Uppity, for sharing this. It needs to be seen by as many as possible.

  • socalannie

That does sounds hopeful. God knows what will happen in Florida, my friends & family there are seriously pissed at the Dem leadership.

  • Perry Logan

The Clintons worked for years to help the African American community.

All that work was completely undone by a few months of smears from the Obama campaign.

  • roseeriter

What a breath of fresh air to hear some good men speak about Hillary with respect. I hope all the so called democratic men that insulted her beyond the pale feel some shame at their unprogressive misogyny.

    Rise Hillary Rise!

  • Hope is the last to die

This year has proved right what the republicans have said about the democrats for years: The dems are weak and unable to lead. Election after election the democrats choose a candidate without any core values, someone whose constant flipflopping shows inability to stand up and fight. No wonder the Clintons have been called rethugs by democrats themselves. They are fighters, able to take punches without a complaint and stand up for things they believe in. But those aren’t DNC’s values.

Where were these people when Hillary was shred to pieces? Flipping to another nominee? It’s time for many people to look in the mirror and grow some balls. I can’t understand how anyone can see Obama as a leader. There’s no person or position he’s ready to throw under the bus when the polls are looking bad. I swear the only thing needed is for someone to point out the negatives of public health care (and trust me, there’s many) and it’s just another thing under the ‘Change’ bus.

I’m shocked by the amount of respect I’ve grown for McCain and many republicans. Even though I don’t completely agree on McCain’s position on Iraq, I admire the fact he so strongly believes in something that’s inevitably going to cost him a lot of votes. Take it or leave it, that’s the way it should be. I’m sick and tired of the constant flipflopping, weakness, ambiguous statements and “bold” speeches behind closed doors Obama and the DNC seems to offer and appreciate. No wonder democratic presidents are few.

  • workingclass artist

I always saw this as a fight between factions within the party….Which is a great set up for the arrival of a Good Fascist to seize an opportunity. The only people who hated the Centrists ( Clinton/Gore ) as much as the Republicans….Were the Far Left Factions within the Party.

  • OBSP

No one left her hanging. They along with most of her AA supporters hung in until she left the race. And, most of us have not acquired a tast for kool-aid.

  • PuppyDogMom

How can these men be so passionate about Hillary and then turn on her and Bill on a dime? Do not they have any integrity? She never left them. They left her. We didn’t leave the Democratic Party. The party left us.

This is not only a shame. It is shameful.

  • EJ in PA

I was so relieved to see John McCain defend President Clinton’s non-racist record last week. But why did we have to wait for the Republican candidate to stand up for President Clinton’s legacy? Senator McCain is doing what the Democratic leadership should have done months ago when The One first started to smear the Clintons.

As I recall, John McCain issued an apology to HRC when Father Phlegm viciously attacked her from the pulpit at TUCC. The One and the other Dems remained silent. IMO, they were complicit in their silence.

You reap what you sow. IMO, John McCain looks ever so much like an officer AND a gentleman.

    As always, my choices are:
    1. HRC
    2. McCain

    BHO = GWB’s 3rd term or worse

  • bert

Where did you dig this up, Uppity? This is wonderful. What event was this and what was the date? These men spokesincerely and from the heart. Hillary’s expereince was on parade in what each man said. And did you see the banner behind the podium – Hillary for ‘Change?” How did Obama co-op that phrase? Hillary would give us real change. While I loved this video, it also broke my heart for what could have been. Only hope I still have is either Denver or 2012. Now that is chnage and hope I believe in!

  • OBSP

They never left her. They all supported her to the end of the campaign and you will not see any of them on barry band wagon.
A lot of us AA have lost a lot by supporting Hillary, and still did not desert her. One of the men on the viedo is Bishop Grant of Gary Indiana. During the Indiana primary the Mayor of Gary called him every name in the book and even went after church members, yet he hung in there with Hillary. Jesse, jr and his thugs ran someone against every AA congressperson that supported Hillary, John Lewis, Shelia Jackson Lee and Stephanie Tubbs Jones. Yet they hung in, with the exception of Congressman Lewis who’s district went 70% of barry. That man was under so much pressure that it was said he had not been so beaten since Selma. They were going after Diane Watson of CA, but Feinstein stopped that.
In Illinois if you did not support BO and had anything to do with public sector, you lost contracts, jobs and access. So please don’t say we deserted her, some of us put everything on the line.

  • Grail Guardian

America belongs to her citizens until we allow someone to take her away. We have not been attacked this badly by terrorists since 9/11/01. It’s time to fight back, Citizens! The fight needs to move from the internet to the streets and all of us must shout from the rooftops that we will not allow greedy corporations to take this country over! This is an attempted Coup d’Etat and must be treated as such!

  • Grail Guardian

    OBSP -

Don’t think for a moment that there are not many, many proud Americans that are aware of the sacrifices true patriots from all walks of life have been through to save this great country. We appreciate the efforts of each and every one that realizes the peril this nation faces at this critical juncture, especially those facing the torment of fellow African Americans for standing up for what they believe in!

Stay strong and speak truth! The No Quarter family has your back and we welcome you with open arms!

  • Lucinda

Didn’t Obama once say that embodied Dr. King’s vision? Nothing could be further from the truth. Dr. King’s vision was that men(people) be judged by the content of their character—not by the color of their skin.
Obama played the race card in the primaries (with success) and is now trying to play it in the GE. Ergo, he wants people to vote for him just because he’s black and not for the content of his character. Of course, we all know that the latter is sorely lacking, so he has nothing to fight with except the color of his skin.

  • HARP

Hillary WILL be president. It`s just a matter of which year.

  • secularhumanizinevoluter

The part of all this that makes me the most sad is the race/schism that Obama in his selfabsorbed ambition intentionally opened between the mainstream AA voting community and the Clintons ergo half of the Democratic voting electorate. I can tell you from many Dem voters that I personally know it’s going to be a LOOOOOONG time before they are willing to expend an ounce of effort as far as racial equality goes again. The 90% AA voting for Obama reminds me of the 80 to 90% approval of Clarence Thomas during the hearings. INSPITE of the fact that the woman he harrassed was a Black Woman, UUUUberChristian. I am trying hard not to become cynically hardened by all this. I really, really am. But tha fact is I am a White(appearing) Male and there isn’t any reason whatsoever I NEED to expend any effort in that arena. Just like womens rights or reproductive rights. I have supported those causes because they were RIGHT. Maybe it would just be easyer to say fuck it and step back from the fray and coast for a while.

  • LuigiDaMan

HARP- Exactly. Just like the Senator said in Friday’s video, “It’s isn’t going to happen at this convention.” But, with any luck, 2012 will be HRC’s year. That is if McCranky or Bambi haven’t sunk us into WWIII.

  • Hope is the last to die

Remember the Monica Lewinsky scandal? The liberals pointed at Hillary claiming it was her fault (how anyone can blame the wife for husband’s infidelity is beyond me) and have kept going on ever since. It was the conservatives who gave her some respect for standing beside her husband.

And now I’ve seen nothing but disrespect for both Clintons, coming mostly from the democrats. Reagan was great but Bill Clinton was the worst president ever. Let’s forget how well things were running back then and concentrate on Monica. Like Michelle said “If you can’t take care of your house, you can’t take care of white house”. It’s oh so fun to throw little stabs and comeback lines in a world that’s in the brink of a large-scale war and energy crisis. Has anyone knowledged what’s happening in Russia right now? I live in the neighbourhood and I can tell it’s not pretty. I can’t picture Obama taking on Putin, can you?

Sorry for the rant but I’m frustrated to see people pandering each other and running away when it gets tough. And I bet none of these men stood by Hillary when the Obama’s took out the race card. In a sense I hope Obama would win and people would witness what an incompetent fool he is and suffer the consequenses. But instead of owning up and learning from their mistakes they’d do like Obama, turn around and blame others. Keep running chickens, that’s what you do best.

  • PuppyDogMom

I spoke too soon. You are absolutely right and I apologize. It’s so frustrating seeing that kind of support for Hillary and knowing what’s happened to her since then. It’s been very difficult for all kinds of people, and some have shown a lot of courage and they should be praised and supported in those efforts.

  • katmandu

No it does not make sense. But a lot does not make sense, like the vetting of Tim Kaine.

As one commenter wrote on a Virginia blog — about the idiocy of Obama even looking at Tim Kaine as a vp choice — [these are approximate quotes] “where is the justice? Mark Warner to be a junior senator and Kaine a VP?”

For those who live in Virginia, Mark Warner is thought of as a demi-god. He was popular with Republicans and Democrats alike, and got a bi-partisan agenda through. A tech executive, he is brilliant, and personable. So Obama choose an inferior candidate?

Something else that does not make sense — anything Maureen Dowd writes. I stopped reading her long ago, but her column was listed somewhere so I took a brief look at her most recent opus.

    http://www.nytimes.com/2008/08/03/opinion/03dowd.html?_r=1&partner=rssnyt&emc=rss&oref=slogin

    What. An. Idiot.

However, at least she recognizes there is a real movement against Obama that must be dealt with:

It is a truth universally acknowledged that Barack Obama must continue to grovel to Hillary Clinton’s dead-enders, some of whom mutter darkly that they will not only not vote for him, they will never vote for a man again.

Obama met for an hour Tuesday with three dozen top Hillaryites at a hotel here, seeking their endorsement and beguiling their begrudging. He opened the session by saying that he knew there had been frustration about what they saw as sexism during the primary.

The rest of her column is practically incomprehensible.

Dead enders? She thinks she sees a light at the end of the tunnel and it’s a train coming straight at her and the Obama fans.

  • Grail Guardian

That is if McCranky or Bambi haven’t sunk us into WWIII.

While of course I truly hope that does not happen, if it should there is no one I would want to lead this country except Hillary Clinton.

  • democracyfirst

That is interesting that Dowd said she’s heard “dead-enders” say they would never vote for a man again. I don’t think I’ve heard anyone say that. She is an idiot.

I believe Obama’s ego won’t let him select a VP candidate that is more qualified than him – that doesn’t leave much to pick from. It is difficult, if not impossible, to find anyone less qualified than Obama.

  • Tattie

It’s a litle sad to look back and see those black leaders that were really looking out for the AA community and so was Hillary. I’m so proud of the Hispanic community that never left her. Texas loves you Hillary

She never dismissed MLK….she stated a fact. MLK was the instigator and LBJ pushed it through Congress. JFK didn’t have the pull to do it and shyed away from it. He might have taken it up in a second administration ( we will never know ) But LBJ had the pull ( knew where the bodies were buried ) His contribution has been swept away by Vietnam. The poverty rate is increasing everyday. We are losing jobs, homes, schools, hospitals and the needed resources to keep our families together.
America these are women, blacks, hispanics, the elderly, the disabled, the veterans, and a huge number of working class middle America becoming the
underclass. We know what it means when we do not have leadership to address this urgent problem right here at home. The Gap widens everyday, when we see the huge salaries of CEO’s and know that both adults in every home are making $6.65 an hour, living in a no frills environment, and worrrying about paying our bills, we must look to Leadership in our candidate, not just someone who gives speeches, and
brings in the crowds with free t shirts, and aconcert, and wearing $400 loafers, and getting
a $400 haircut. I don’t think we have the money just yet for Obama Global Poverty Act, $850 Billion dollars thru 2015. We need to help here at home, and the sooner, the better.

She was swift boated by Obama regarding African Americans. Her entire career beginning with the Children’s Defense Fund was work on behalf of African Americans. What has Obama done for AA other than being one? The projects in Chicago he supposedly helped were made worse. Sham and disgrace. The African Americans who did not vote for Hillary rejected a true advocate for them and their causes.

But Watson quickly switched her endorsement to Obama the very same Monday or Tuesday when HRC won South Dakota and before the Saturday in DC….
Same with Charles Rangel: he was the one who stopped HRC on the Wednesday from going any further. When she lost his support is when she knew she couldn’t take it to the convention as she planned up to that Tuesday. Should Rangel and the NY delegation stood by her, today we would have
a real chance at a HRC nomination.

  • kmb08

Hillary NEVER dismissed MLK! Duh..It DID take a President to enact passage of the law. There’s no dissing there!!! Hillary C. was working on behalf of civil rights before she even met Bill. It was Hillary who atteneded the MLK celebration in Memphis as well. It was Hillary who attended the Black Forum in New Orleans. BO didn’t feel the need to attend, afterall, he had masterfully used the “race” card on the Clintons which solidified the black vote, so there was no further need to entertain for their votes. Oh, and btw, Bill is spending most of his time in Africa saving lives…”just a minor thing BO will most likely never see the need to do”

As for the “hardworking White Americans” remark…I happen to have heard the entire interview in which Hillary was quoting from an AP ARTICLE!!!…, in which she was clearly referring to the voters who were voting for her. She was not inferring that black Americans are not hardworking, for goodness sakes!!!!..but she was not getting the votes of hardworking Black Americans, she was getting the votes of hardworking White Americans for the most part!!!! One has to really stretch the context….

To imply the Clintons are racist is merely to ignore everything they’ve worked for their entire adult lives, and it highlights the poster’s uninformed status!!

You didn’t hear the comment about “hard working white Americans” because if you did you would understand that she was speaking in deference to hard working African American voters. But, no, the media spins it is a slight to African Americans — the media is abhorrent.

Sen. Clinton was talking about the coalition of voters who support her and she was going to say “working Americans” support her, but she started and stopped because BHO was winning 98% of the AA vote at the time so therefore it wouldn’t be accurate to say she was winning the hard working Americans vote since AA were not included in the group she was winning…she amended the statement to say she was winning the white working vote.

Before you spread media lies you should do a little research and listen for yourself.

Regarding the MLK “flap”, I would suggest that you, Bob(I don’t believe you are a)Blackman, go back and reread the Constitution. You might just find that a PRIVATE citizen (which Dr King most certainly was) cannot do ANYTHING* regarding legislation. Legislation can only be proposed by a PRESIDENT or a MEMBER OF CONGRESS (neither of which applied to Dr King). Once that legislation has been passed by the CONGRESS (a body to which Dr King not belong), it is sent to the PRESIDENT (a title which Dr King never possessed) for his signature or his veto.
So, please, Mr (I still don’t believe you’re a) Blackman, explain how Hillary was wrong in her comment, given the procedures regarding the legislative process.

*I will add that a private citizen may contact his/her Representative or Senator with a proposal for a law (that private citizen may even testify before Congress in hearings or, very rarely, be offered a chance to make a plea before the appropriate House of Congress), but ULTIMATELY, the private citizen cannot make a law.

It was sad to witness how the majority of the black community turned their back to Hillary and bill after they did so much on their behalf, but what is even more sad is to see how primitive their rational is for selecting the next president–It seems that all that matters to them is having a guy that is black. For that matter, there are far more experienced people and truly black. I am of Hispanic background–but would not support a candidate just because he/she is Hispanic–I (We–the Hispanic community) did not approve of Alberto Gonzalez. The US presidency is too important to trust it to an unexperienced and arrogant individual.

No one can explain it better than the Mayor of Trenton (if you bothered to watch the entire video, he’s in it.) He got clobbered by the most racist campaign ever caught on film if you exclude the newsreel clips of Ross Barnett’s stump speeches.

Fannie I agree, this country is in debt and our
roads , bridges , etc. etc etc. are in need of urgent repair. Now is not the time to be saving the rest of the world.

  • MEchelle Hates America!

That is so unfair to the peaceful sweet manatee.

Are you sure it wasn’t a giant squid?

  • Thomas

That’s completely unfair. It was the MSM that turned not only the AA against Hillary, but it also convinced millions of white Americans to vote for a freshman Senator with no track record and mysterious fund raising capabilities.

The last time I checked, the AA community does not control the MSM in this country.

  • Thomas

I have commented here for several months without ever referencing my race; but I will make an exception this one time. As a black American, I want you to know that you can go fuck yourself. It was the MSM that beat the racism drums against Bill and Hillary. I waited and waited for someone, anyone, in the media ask; if Bill was a racist, why would he open his post-presidential office in Harlem?

    No one asked.

Thomas, like I’ve said before, race means nothing to me, it’s who you are as a man that counts. And from what I can tell, you’re a good man.

  • JSF

Disgusting that you are still pushing this BS. BS!

The New Man’s minion’s lied and nayone who listened to what she said knows that to be the truth.

  • penguin

Maureen Dowd rambles. Her thoughts are incoherent. You can’t understand word she says or writes. That goes for most of the writers at the NYT. It is amazing she has a column.

  • mimi

She did not ‘dismiss‘ MLK. She reminded people that LBJ, and this is often forgotten, signed the Civil Right Bill. She and 0bama were trading verbal barbs back and forth as he was trying to make the claim that he, and this is laughable to this AA, was the heir apparent to MLK. Huh??? Based on what? This was before AAs were openly drooling over him and he was trying to connect.

Hillary stated that she wanted to be the kind of President like LBJ. She stated an historical fact and 0bama’s camp painted her remarks as dissing Dr. King. It did take a President to sign legislation, because private citizens have no power to do that. Supposed LBJ had never signed the legislation? Would Nixon have? LBJ completed MLK’s Dream. And of course, Ted Kennedy and apparently Caroline went batshit because she reminded everyone the historical fact that it was not JFK who signed it.

In truth, it was the best thing that could have happened that LBJ was the one who signed it. There was still a lot of open opposition especially in the south. Having a southerner sign it made the process more palatable that the time had come.

0bama provided AAs a reason to ditch the Clintons without guilt feelings. It’s been proven that the 0bama camp played the race card deliberately. Bill Clinton was misquoted by Michelle and the msm waited several news cycles before tacitly correcting it. What’s despicable to me is not that AAs wanted to support the candidate they feel looks like them, it’s the willful continuation of believing a lie.

American citizens have the right to support the candidate of their choice. You don’t need an excuse. But it’s unconscionable to paint 2 people as racists, who have worked hard at supporting AA issues, based on a political dirty trick. If I were the Clintons, especially Bill, I would sue Michelle 0bama for slander and make her prove in court that he made the statement she claimed. It would be so easy since there is video of what Bill said. BTW, she never apologized.

  • mimi

That bitch is ‘cruising for a bruising.’ Deadenders? She’s clearly having perimenopause ‘brain fog.’

BTW, anybody see 0bama grovel at Hillary supporters?

According to him, Dean, Pelosi, Brazile et al, they don’t need Hillary’s deadenders so:

    WIN WITHOUT US!!!

  • mimi

    Please! He’s not African American.

He is biracial. His father was African. The only AAs he’s related to by blood are the little girls he sired. He does not share the history of the AA community.

And since we haven’t seen his Birth Certificate. We don’t even know if he’s American.

  • BobBlackman

Justify all the remarks of Hillary that you want to but SHE lost the votes of the African Americans. They were hers. She had them.

Her campaign destroyed the reputation of Reverend Wright, even Fox admitted her campaign kept pushing the tapes. Reverend Wright served the Army, looked after LBJ and helped Hillary and Bill through the Monica scandal.

The MLK comment was a disgrace. It denies those who campaigned for Womens rights, equality, environment. None of that matters – only the people elected and not campaigners?

Try as you might, Hillary lost because she ran an awful campaign that resulted in the loss of what would have been her base. She even started off with a majority of the 800 Super Delegates.

Neither Hillary or Bill are racists but they decided that that they would attempt to play to racists to win. That is why she lost.

  • mimi

    OBSP,

Thanks for reminding everyone that our entire community did not lose our minds. Since I’m a private citizen, I’ve lost nothing by supporting Hillary. But I really feel for those who were ostracized by 0bama’s thugs. Tavis Smiley comes to mind. This is why I don’t call him an AA. No real AA would allow this. This is why there is no unity in the Dem Party right now. He showed such sheer and utter disdain for Unity within AA ranks why would anyone want be unified with such a scumbag? He could have fought a tough campaign without this, but he chose not to.

I will never vote for 0bama.

  • Helen S

    Bob Blackman
NO no no no Please Get youh head out of your butt. How Dare you Speak for me.! I am African American and Hillary did NOT lose MY vote OBama did not either because he never had my vote and he NEVER will. SO…….speak for you self. Your arrogrance is showing. I own my vote and you do not have the right to tell anyone how I will vote.

  • memi

OBSP – yes, no one in deeed left her ‘hanging in’….I look to Sen. Stephanie Tubbs Jones and how close they really were and how LOYAL she stuck to Hillary come hell or high water. Cause she is no one’s fool. I agree. The ones who left her were all shine, no substance…but plenty of us hung in there with HER..

  • Susie

Actually, the guy heading up the BET backed Hillary throughout the primary season. Day after day, week after week, he sent his girls to FOX–even when it was clear that his girls did not like his position–they reminded us that he was a Hillary Clinton supporter. Every time I heard one of them, I breathed a sign of relief over the knowledge that at least the whole world had not gone mad.

I haven’t heard anything about him since Hillary’s June speech, but even if he now backs BHO (I have never heard anything about an endorsement), I am convinced the man is a real ‘stand up guy.’ I now know just what a rare commodity he is in our nation.

Hillary & only Hillary in ’08!

I hang mistletoe from my coat-tails just for bozos like you.

90% of black Democrats locked into Obama. That’s flat out racism.

Denial ain’t just a river in Egypt.
