This Is The System “Working”?

Editor’s Note: Reverend Amy is technically on vacation but continues to write daily. Here’s a post she wrote a couple days ago that is still timely.

::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

You have got to be kidding me that Janet Napolitano thinks the system WORKED after the failed terrorist attempt! I couldn’t believe it when I saw she said this. She really must put down the “Hopium” pipe:

I just can’t get away from this – just what worked, exactly? That someone who was exposed as a potential terrorist – by his FATHER* – was allowed to fly into the United States, and only failed in blowing up the damn plane because he mishandled the trigger, and that is the system WORKING?? Everything that worked was AFTER the fact. Thank heavens for some of the brave passengers and flight attendants on that flight who thwarted this terrorist attempt, especially Jasper Schuringa, who literally took matters into his own hands to put out the explosive materials.

I can’t believe I am saying this, but Senator Lieberman is Spot On. If it wasn’t for quick action on the part of a few on the plane, especially Schuringa, there is no telling what could have happened in Detroit.

*And yes, the father went to the US Embassy to inform the US of his concerns about his son, Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab:

And YET, Napolitano claims the system worked. Right. Clearly, we have different definitions of what “work” is. Here’s a hint, Napolitano – when someone’s FATHER, a widely respected, high level man in his country, goes to the US Embassy and claims his son is a DANGER to the United States, how about the son doesn’t get anywhere NEAR the country?? By any means, be it plane, boat, hot air balloon, or whatever it is. Seems to me, that would have placed him way up at the top of the “Do Not Fly” list, but that’s just me.

Oh no wait, there are a half a million people on the “persons of interest” list, and we couldn’t POSSIBLY take the time or make the effort to subject those people to a little extra scrutiny before they board a metal tube with hundreds of other people to go fly 30,000 feet above our country. We have no experience whatsoever with how well THAT can turn out …

“The system worked.” Wow, if this is the system WORKING, I’d sure hate to see what happened if it FAILED…

Wow! If you go to that NYT link about Mr. Scheringa…. you see how effed up the lefties over there are. They think this is a fabricated story to take away their civil rights?? What is wrong with those nuts?

And just exactly which “rights” are they worried about losing? The “right” to carry a bomb onto an airplane?

Yesterday my son flew in from SFO. Someone was pulled off the plane BEFORE departure. Now…. THAT, you’d think, is the system “working.” Right?

But… oh, wait… not really. Said passenger was pulled off *because his fellow passengers demanded it.*  He had been acting crazy at the checkpoint. Refusing to be scanned and such…. Apparently, he didn’t want to give up his “civil right” to carry whatever he felt inclined to carry onto the plane. Eff him, I say. No scan… no fly.

I look forward to the day when body sniffing, explosive detecting dogs are at every gate. Heck… I’ll even bring them some Pupperoni to thank them….

    I wonder if

The half a million people …. Now there is stupidity at its finest… If we had a threat from 500,000 people, even a possible threat, you would see a hell of a lot more crap happening in this Country. I think this list has become much more than just a list of suspected terrorists and if it is, it needs to be scrapped….

As far as Scheringa goes the fact is he went through the scan (yeah suffering from cranial rectal inversion), passed security and was seated. Who the hell are the passengers to say who gets to fly or not fly because they don’t like something? The man maybe an idiot but that does not give tohers the right of say. What’s next? Race? Weight? Looks? Nationality?

The entire system is out of control if this really happened the way it was reported….I for one have a huge problem with this type of behavior……

When this crap happens the terrorists WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Neighbors just came in from Switzerland via Toronto.  They said US customs out of Toronto took 9 HOURS.  Body search of everyone and all luggage.  Crowds were unreal.  In the last hour of the flight, no one could move.  That is especially hilarious since it was two passengers out of their seats who subdued the undie bomber.

Another message from the Obama admin that Janet Napolitano is running with in talking points.

Again confirming the “warning signs” from THIS administration.  We no longer have terrorism.  We have man made disasters.  That is how Obama sees radical islam terrorism.  He doesn’t want to even acknowledge it.

Yes, 500,000 people makes me wonder what the list is really for. There cacn’t possibly be 500,000 potential terrorists out here. There might be 500,000 people that are outspoken or critical of the government. But potential terrorists? When we have 100 Al Qaeda as a whole in Afghanistan… but we have 500,000 on our domestic “watch” list? Wow, I think the list should be made public immediately. What is the list anyway?

You know I have been right there with you. But, I have to think aloud here… If we have 500,000 on our domestic “watch” list… maybe there is something more here. Because if we are fighting “terrorists”… then our enemy is the 100 Al Qaeda in Afghanistan, But, if we are fighting “man made” disasters, then might our enemy be the expanded 500,000 on the “watch” list. This goes well with Napolitano’s earlier statements about returning war veterans. I have to think about this now. My head is sppinning. =-O

yep.  My head is too.  This latest event has really painted the picture.

when i was traveling in europe during the 80s and terrorism there was very active, i recall being stopped at the border to france. i was on a bus tour and our group was fine but we were waiting directly behind a car where four men of middle eastern background had been pulled out. the guards were talking to them and going over their documents slowly! all of a sudden we heard the distinctive sound of the police cars in france and a whole group got out with their guns drawn. these guys were cuffed and put into a van and removed.

comparing that to the pathetic work done at our borders, i shudder. i don’t blame our border guards at all. i blame the govies in dc who are the pathetic ones.

I was flying commuter flights most of yesterday, and a teenager travelling with his mother was complaining about having to take off his shoes for the scanner. I looked at him and grinned and said, “Hey, just be glad they don’t insist on checking your underwear for explosives!” His mother laughed and the security people grinned. He stopped complaining.

Yes, the system is generally working. They have foiled many attempts and kept the airlines relatively safe. It will never be 100%.
