Whoa, Claire. If you say so!

Sen. Claire McCaskill: ‘It’s OK If I Don’t Get Re-Elected’

Claire McCaskill is such a true believer in Obamacare that she’s willing to pitch her Senate career just to make that vote for a plan assailed from both the left and the right. Missouri voters in a December 23rd protest at her St. Louis Senate office weren’t very forgiving, greeting her with signs that said, “Obama’s Joker.” The stalwart Claire retorted:

“It’s OK if I don’t get re-elected” … “I’ve just kind of decided that, hey, I’m just going to do this, and Missouri’s hard, so there’s a chance, you know, that I won’t get re-elected. And if I don’t, that’s OK. It’s not the end of the world.”

I picked this up in my daily e-mail newsletter from Huffington Post which, I confess, half the time I toss without reading. But I’m glad I clicked it this time.

HuffyPooh drew up its post, “Claire McCaskill: ‘It’s OK If I Don’t Get Re-Elected’,” from a report at the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Hey, I’m o.k. with her not getting re-elected too.

  • MBC

It is so OK with me if she does not get re-elected, but can she be impeached in the meantime?

  • trixta

While campaigning for Obamacare, weren’t she and Sebelius arguing that Medicare is a failed program?  Looks like she may very well get the boot.

  • Docelder

I went to college in Missouri. It’s been a while, but I can’t imagine that Missouri people feel anything in common with this person. Not from how I remember them anyway.

  • annie

We should be so lucky…Maybe she will know how Hillary felt when all the women turned their backs on her. Say by by to Obamas lap dog.

  • Peggy Sue

Well, this is certainly telling.  Talk about being disconnected to the American public.  The Dems have taken a policy issue, healthcare reform, that had a 70% approval from the electorate in January and turned it into a losing proposition.

That takes real talent.  But not the good kind.  And McCaskill doesn’t care if she’s reelected or not.

If she doesn’t care, why should we?  The arrogance of these people is truly breath-taking.

I guess this is what represents someone standing by their convictions, even when the policy details are so enormously damaging, another crippling blow to an economy already on its knees.  And healthcare?  Oh, what the hell, people need to get with the program because these dedicated pols know what’s best [though they're unwilling to reveal the fine print].

May the voters in Missouri have the wisdom to show Claire McCaskill the door in 2012.  Btw, there are Huffy-Po posters who feel she should run for President because of this “valiant” statement.

    The craziness never ends!

I live in Missouri and you can bet most of the people I know not only will NOT vote for the less than honest Claire, but most of us will work as hard as possible to see her defeated.

We  have problems with Claire and her policies, however, it is her “goo goo gah gah” feelings about Barack Obama that are so sickening and creepy.

And if she can be removed from office sooner…so much the better.

  • Tex-Mex Soup

Isn’t her blatant kool aid drinking because her mtv age kid told her that it was a no brainer to support obama? The bro’s before hoe’s menatility her kid displayed?

I hope the circle jerker gets the freakin boot! It sucks massively however that she is willing to screw over the American people in the process.

Perfect picture!  I can’t support any woman that did not support Hillary, the most experienced and qualified candidate we had in 2008.  Those women showed that politics was more important than what was best for our country and they need to be replaced.

  • hattip

Oh, the Soro crowd will make sure that there is plenty of money and some position waiting for her. This is purely calculated self-nterest of the new apparat of the the soft communist state they want to build. If that is what you mean by “convictions”, well that is fine, but that is really  ot what most people mean by the phrase.

They are interested in overturning our civilization and replacing it with a monlithic socialist state run by them. They will not have to do a honest day’s work for generations if they are successful.

  • TeakWoodKite

i am reminded of  “but for the grace of you go I”.

    From his own book:
“I had learned not to care,” he wrote. “I blew a few smoke rings, remembering those years. Pot had helped, and booze; maybe a little blow when you could afford it. Not smack, though. …”
“Junkie. Pothead. That’s where I’d been headed”

So the Senator is following BO’s footsteps?

  • Docelder

Actually, the not caring statement makes me think she already has a parachute coming. These people are PR machimes, you can’t take anything they say at face value.

  • HARP

There is a special place in Hell for this particular bunch of Dems.

  • POdVet

Anyone care to bet that she goes directly from being a Senator. To being a highly paid lobbyists for the insurance companies that Obamacare was written by and for?

  • Olivia1998

Or on a insurance company board just like our Sen. Nelson from NEB

  • HARP

Iwould pay real money to see this.  =-X

  • Bronwyn

Can I get a bigger version of that poster?  I’ll add it as an update to the post.

  • Cindy

Finally! A Claire McCaskill philosophy I can embrace!

Here’s how the next two elections are going to go down:
    A. Any Dem that backstabbed Hillary never gets a vote.
    B. All the kool Aid drinkers never get any vote
    C. Any Dem who votes for Obamacare gets the boot.

In the end, we will boot them ALL out of office.

  • Peggy Sue

    Your lips to God’s ear!

  • creeper

Free translation:  “Screw my constituents.  I know what’s best for them.”

So much for the concept of representative government.

May McCaskill and and Ben Nelson both find themselves among the unemployed soon.  It would be nice if Max Baucus could join them.

  • Crazy Heart

It’s kind of hard to buy those who criticize “career politicians”, when they go ahead and mock said “career politicians” for voting on principle instead of re-election strategy.  Maybe, JUST MAYBE, Claire McCaskill and others came to Washington to actually accomplish something longer lasting than their next Senate term.

  • lauraks

Are you kidding me? She’s okay if she dn get re-elected??? Without Cleaver and the Clinton’s help she wouldn’t have squeaked by with her first term. She challenged Holden and we ended up with Blunt as governor. Absolutely awful in every way. Her suggesting anything she does is with conviction is just nonsense.

  • May

the door hit your ass on the way out.

  • stodghie

crazy heart, maybe you are seriously mistaken and assuming tthings beyond your reach.

  • Crazy Heart

please elaborate on your point, if you have one.

  • POdVet

I believe stodghie’s point…and plz correct me if I am wrong here. Is that for you to attempt to place her motives on pure “best for the people” ground is pure BS. There is nothing in any part of the healthcare bills they are supporting. That will benefit any poor person in our country! The only people it benefits is the lobbyists who wrote it, and the companies who employ them. And of course, the corrupt politicians who will be reaping in donations come re-election time, or go to work as lobbyists for those companies. The insurance companies know and have known what is coming. Why do you think, they have suddenly restructured so many policies that people have through work this enrollment season. Premiums have gone up, coverage down. And they know full well, that if this crap passes. They will go back a 1/4 step, and claim it was a massive sacrifice and will go bankrupt if forced to do more. So they wont be forced to. But WE will be forced to pay more for less!

  • CentralMass

    I’m right with you.

I agree, Peggy Sue.  What kind of pension do Senators get if they retire, however long they’ve served?  Plus, how does Claire’s current Senate sponorsed healthcare compare with the travesty she and her fellow criminals want to foist on the American taxpayers?

I say ALL Congresspeople switch to Medicare only now as their special little research project.  Might open their eyes, minds and hearts.

  • Guest

Too bad we have to wait till 2012. It’s saying a lot when you stand out in the Senate  as particularly smarmy, excessively ambitious, disingenuous and hypocritical. The only action I approve of is her was the initial criticism of the way the administration didn’t follow the law she sponsored in launching the removal process for Walpin, the government’s Americorps watchdog. Until there was enough of a feeble assurance in writing to safely jump back in the deep end…

  • stodghie

POdVet said it for me. and stop your rude attitude here. that pathetic bill laughingly called the heath care bill is the worst fraud ever put across on the american people and the fact you get on your high horse with your faux lecture is insulting. got it.

  • klar09

I live in Missouri and can’t wait to vote against McCaskill! I hope she’s defeated big time.
