Edwards needs to comment. Period. The longer he stays silent and dodges the media, the more apparent his guilt becomes.

Either way, this takes him out of the VP running, and potentially out of the running for cabinet positions should Obama win.

Honesty is the best policy. If it’s not true, so say and the story will go away. If it’s true, face the music, ride out the media cycle, and go home. Avoiding it only makes it worse.

I frankly do not care nor am I interested in Edwards’ personal life.

As for getting banned from DKos: why is anyone surprised at this point? DKos is the mouth that feeds BO’s shameful propaganda to the public. I find interesting actually that you were allowed to write there until now…Sorry.

I stopped looking in over at DKos and HuffPo a longtime ago. Their attitude could be big reason why their traffic has dropped.

Yes, Lee, real progressives are against censorship. I’m assuming that you stood up for all the Hillary supporters who were banned from the DKos blog and Huffington Post during the primaries? Or are you one of those progressives only interested in free speech when it is your own?

At Free Republic, we refer to John Edwards as the “Breck Girl”. I am not an Elizabeth Edwards fan, but I admire the courage and dignity for which she has battled her terminal cancer. It is with much disdain that I regard John Edwards today.

John Edwards affair should ensure that his national aspirations are finished. If the Kos Kids don’t like it, too bad for them.

As some at NQ have stated, they’ve been banned or harassed at DailyKos and Huffington Post.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t just happen at Left leaning blogs and forums. I personally watched the purging of Rudy Guiliani supporters at Free Republic. It was nasty and ugly. People that had been long time friends were pitted against one another and we were supposed to all be Republicans.

At FR today, the site isn’t the same without some of the old posters. They brought life and humor to many threads that didn’t involve politics. The site lost out big time and those that had a stake in running to the Mods to have them banned are forever on my shitlist—Republican or not.

Looking back at that situation and reading your story, it reminds me once again that the site and posters only follow the lead of the owners. If the owners are anti-something, then by God everyone had better be or you’re shown the door.

It is this type of situation that creates longer lasting effects than any campaign cycle.

Only, these stories went on for a while and turned out not to be true.

Bill and Hillary Clinton was destroyed with endless rumors that turned out not to be true. Just like the Edwards story, there is a little connection there that can be exploited into a bigger story to create doubt about democrats. And guess what, you’re falling for it.

The only thing you should believe is John Edwards and Reille Hunter when they come out and say that this story is true. Other than that, this is just a lot of smoke clouding up the democratic party. Much like, Bill & Hillary many, many investigations that led nowhere, yet cost millions of dollars. And you’re perpetuating it for no good reason.

Keep in mind that the perpetuation of this story hurts Elizabeth Edwards, who from what I can see has done nothing to you.

If it turns out the NE was right, Edwards won’t be the first man guilty of infidelity. What seriously damages any public person’s reputation is avoiding, denying or flat out lying about an accusation. If, however, NE is out of line, Edwards needs to make a statement, threaten to sue the paper [even Carol Burnett sued for scandalous reporting] and move on.

I think most people will side with Elizabeth Edwards in this story; she’s admired by many.

Remember how Edwards’ name was still on the ballot in NC months after quitting? Then the very next day he officially gave his support to BO. Why was his name still on that ballot when it wasn’t on in other states? He got +- 7%, thus taking away from Hill’s #s and putting his name out there for the following days announcement. If Elizabeth looses her battle for her life…Look what his legacy will be. A failed nomination, an affair, and a child. All while his wife is battling for her very life. A life she was more than willing to give up to help him achieve his dreams, because she loved “him” more than she loved “herself”. He better address it now. I was sorry (but not surprised) to read your story. After reading the 3 posts you linked on Maryscott’s site, I have to say I don’t get it. You didn’t sound anti – Obama, or even particularly anti – Edwards to me. But many are here at No Quarter because they’ve been banned elsewhere. Others just because we value free speech and the Constitution.

You may want to peruse some of the other posts while you’re here. There are some extremely intelligent posters here, and many funny ones. We allow dissenting opinions and welcome intelligent discussion. It is becoming quite the rarity on the blogosphere these days, and we treasure what Larry has given us.

I think Edwards needs to do what Bill Clinton should have done in the Lewinsky case: Tell the media to mind their own f-ing business – this is a matter between him and his family.

Do you really think Elizabeth wants to rock the boat she’s living on? She needs his support and she needs him around to make sure he participates closely enough with their children’s lives to be their point of security if she dies before they are fully independent.

She hid behind John..so her face could not be seen when he was leaving the raceand giving his speech..she deliberately did that..she has always been up front and out in front and that day she hid behind John..while he gave the speech.

And John read his speech..I had never seen him read a speech before..he always spoke without notes and never read a speech.

John Edwards is irrelevant. He dropped out of the primary race two days after he said he would not, and after many people had wasted their absentee ballot vote for him in the California primary. That is when I began to wonder if he was being blackmailed to force him to drop out.

Every single person in her district needs to see that video. What did they need his ID for? To give him his bag back? After Edwards dropped out is when I began to support Hillary. I began to research Tony Rezko in the Chicago Sun Times and Chicago Tribune online archives. The Obots really began to show themselves for the despicable thugs that they are on Obamington Post. Remember Arianna Obamington was married to the Republican candidate for California governor. Her husband lost the governor’s race when it was revealed the Huffingtons employed an illegal immigrant nanny.

I think most people underestimate how damaged Obama is from being abandoned by both of his parents. Just give this line of thinking some of your own thought, most of the well balanced people I’ve know came from a good family that loved each other, without divorce or early death of a parent. I don’t care about John Edwards personal life. I can’t imagine the hell his wife’s cancer has been on their family. And I certainly don’t think Edwards is somehow above being human.

I’ve never felt comfortable with Edwards. I really burned some friendships early in the primary just by being less then enthusiastic about him. Later I got into trouble with some fellow feminists trying to point out Edward’s backhanded sexism towards Hillary. I remember how he mocked Hillary’s alleged tear and tried to imply she was too weak and girly to be president. “I think what we need in a commander-in-chief is strength and resolve, and presidential campaigns are tough business, but being president of the United States is also tough business.”

I think you make some good points about his psychological make-up. I also think that is why he can’t hold a principled position on anything (aka, flip-flopping). No real friends, just people who can help him with his career or with giving him “black ‘cred”. The only constant and (seemingly) stable person in his entire life is his Grandmother.

They followed him down stairwells asking questions until he ducked into the men’s room where he stayed for 15 mintutes before fleeing. I don’t think the evidence could get more damning. Looking back from this perspective, it is clear why and how so many things happened. I don’t think Hillary was prepared for this kind of fight in the beginning. At times, she looked stunned by remarks by people like Elizabeth Edwards.

I do feel sympathy for Mrs. Edwards and I hope her husband has been honest with her even if he hasn’t been with others. Anyone going through chemo or radiation treatments for cancer needs a supportive and loving environment. A positive frame of mind, being able to share doubts or fear, to look forward to the future are so important to recovery.
