Dodd Flees

Topsy-Turvy.

Nancy Pelosi’s creative performance to call the closed door, backroom, secret and paraboid healthcare negotiation an open process is the latest signal that the Democrats cannot manage one-party majorities on the Hill.

Everyone is aware of the POTUS poll troubles. Yet the Democrats did not leave themselves an escape clause. Instead, two major Democratic senators are fleeing their majority, Byron Dorgan of North Dakota and Chris Dodd of Connecticut to retire in a year.

Harry Reid is stunned. Now he has to fret about Ben Nelson seeing Dorgan and Dodd quit the lifeboat and realize he is doomed at home after his healthcare pretzel-making.

What next? Harold Ford the ex-Congressman and ex-Senate candidate in Tennessee is flirting with a challenge to Karen Gillenbrand in New York.

And Martha Coakley running for Ted Kennedy’s seat in Massachusetts is said to be just marginally ahead against a GOP unknown in the heavily Blue state.

The clues are everywhere that topsy-turvy has arrived.

Get this title of Dana Milbank’s obsequious column:

Sen. Dodd announces retirement with dignity — and honesty

Okay, so plain old-fashioned HTML doesn’t work.  No matter.  Here:

His 4-year-old daughter, in her mother’s arms, reached out to touch his shoulder during the brief speech, and his 8-year-old daughter stood on his other side as he admitted that “these young ladies are not the reason for my decision.”

Everybody knew the real reason: The old bull had turned bearish on his own prospects for reelection.

    [...]

[It was] “a classy departure for a man who has had his share of embarrassments in recent years.”

Oh boy.  I had to get my hanky out.

Dodd is quitting 2 years too late…….  good to see the weasle go.

We need to help the GOP win the Dodd slot.  Anyone up for bus rides to Conn to canvas for honest good people?

    No more Obamacrats!

  • TeakWoodKite

BooHoo, Dodd you said wiretapping was unconstitutional. And still you let the tapes roll.

What was she referring to when she said, ” a lot of promises were made”? It sounded like she was saying that Barry made a lot of promises he didn’t keep and had no intentions of doing so.

The truth, of course, is that they sat him down and told him he was trailing everyone-including dead people-in the polls and he didn’t stand a chance of a snow ball in Al Gore’s climate change hell if he ran again.  But we all know that he’s just going to take his place across the street as a big money lobbyist…where all ex-senators go before they die.

Okay, I don’t even want to hear that Nancy Pelosi is complaining about Obama.  I will never forget her vicious remarks about both Clintons, but especially HIllary.  Her nonsense about how the Democrats were not going to turn away “millions of new, young voters.”  More than anyone else, she pushed The One into office.  She is a witch.

  • tek

So, you’re saying the Republicans were better?  Please.  They crafted this whole mess.

I can’t believe it, I thought I’d vote Coakley because as AG she supported Hillary, but now she’s looking more and more like another Obama lackey so I may (gulp) vote for Scott Brown for MA Senator

  • foxyladi14

    i,m voting for Brown

  • Katherine B.

Although not a resident of Mass., I sent Coakley a modest donation just because she said, in her fight for the nomination, that health care should not be passed on the backs of women, i.e. limited access to abortion.  So then she secures the nomination and presto chango, she’s willing to vote for the bill with – guess what – limited access to abortion.  I may write her and ask for my money back. I’m disgusted with all Democrats.

Did you notice that the eight-year old quickly wiped his kiss off her face?

  • FranSC

She not only “pushed” him, she selected him.  When Bill O’Reilly cluelessly says he doesn’t think 0bama likes Pelosi, I want to shake him.  It was and is Nancy Pelosie and Raham Emanuel who own the brainchild that is responsible for this POTUS.  They translated their success in making the congress a dem majority into electing a dem POTUS.  These two will carry a very effective big stick for quite a while until he is confident enough to jerk the rug out from them.

The Dems own Obama Care lock stock and barrel.

  • Kathy in CA

Her 180 on health care shows how strong of a hold Pelosi, Reid and Obama have on all Dems to pass the health care bill no matter what.  The back room bribes and (probably) threats are out of control.

  • CentralMass

Brown seems to be a good guy but he is against the CapeWind project. As was Ted Kenendy for the last 8 years they have been trying to get the approval for the project. We need to move forward with large scale reneable eenrgy and don’t need another obstructionist blocking the way.
